  1. If you enjoy Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, try Wolf Children. I think it's from the same director.

Also, other movies... I'd say A Silent Voice (this is probably my favorite anime movie ever),  Sword of the Stranger, Perfect Blue, the Berserk Golden Age Trilogy, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away... those are the ones that come to mind right now.

I am 8 minutes into Goblin Slayer. I was expecting a fantasy based show (I love it when the world is full of adventurers and classes like in D&D)..... holy shit is it more graphic than I was expecting. Like... uncomfortably so.

The goblin rape scene? What the fuck is that shit. If that continues I will have to drop this.

Now, I never actually watched or read any Goblin Slayer, but from what I've heard, I think the rape stuff is a constant throughout the story. I may be wrong though, but I think every time I heard about GS, it was because of the rape crap being extreme. Hell, I read people's complaints that, in comparison to the books, the scene in the show was tame.

    From TVTropes:

Remember: There *are no* female Goblins; which is why they rape whenever they can just to procreate and keep the species alive. Explosive Breeders or not, considering the hundreds of new Goblins born per-province every year... well, do the maths... or then again better not.

So yeah, I guess there's quite a lot of rape shown, or at the very least, implied.

I finished re-watching Death Parade last night. Such a great show... And the opening theme is one of the catchiest themes ever.

  3. Go fuck yourselves, DC.

Spoilers for Heroes in Crisis, btw:

What in the absolute fuck do you have against Wally West?! This kind of crap is why people were turning away from DC and they were forced to do a reboot, because they started constantly going grim n' gritty and killing off or creatively mutilating favourite characters! Fan reaction to Rebirth was, from what I gather, great; their comics were getting filled with hope and people loved seeing Wally back. Literally a couple of years later they kill him, as well as a lot of second stringer heroes and Arsenal? Go fuck yourselves, DC.

  4. The people working at MHA really outdid themselves again with this latest episode. Everything from the action to the voice acting was superb once again.

This episode really showed just how much Bakugou has evolved as a character. In the beginning of the show, I really hated him, as he was just a stereotypical bully, but along the way, he showed different layers (all the while retaining the same constant "kill-kill-kill" attitude), but while he and Deku's relationship seemed to improve after the last few episodes of the second season, with their whole teaming up to take on All Might exercise, this episode saw it become, as All Might said, a relationship of proper rivals. I really have to take my hat off to Kohei Horikoshi, as he dealt with this masterfully.

How many episodes are left in season 3? Is next week's the last? I'm getting withdrawal symptoms just thinking about it...

You need an All Might statue.

I know! But the sites I usually get anime stuff didn't have any All Might statues (even googling them didn't turn out any results), and these two I do have, I got them yesterday at my first Comic Con (which is really quite small, when compared to other Comic Cons around the world... I liked it, but I know it doesn't compare to the US ones, for instance), but again, no All Might. And actually, when I started looking out for MHA statues, it was to get an All Might one, hopefully in his typical "hands closed on his waist, smiling" pose. No such luck.

I've been finding a surprisingly low number of MHA statues, actually... even on the sites I usually use, these two were the only ones available. Weird... But I'll keep an eye out for more stuff.

  6. Oh man, I can't wait for next week's MHA. I was hoping the season would end on this particular storyline, and for a while I thought it would end before it, so to have it confirmed it will be adapted is great. Knowing it's nearly ending though... 😥

Started watching FMA:B, never saw anything of it but I heard all the rave reviews. And it made me feel sad in the first episode without even knowing their full backstory, there's just that sense of sadness and melancholy that just manages to get to me. The little things like Al writing foodstuffs down he wants to try when he gets his body back.

Of course the flashbacks in episode 2 fully managed to kick me in the gut a few times. It has really hooked me after a few episodes.

You ain't even scratched the surface yet.

  8. I've been watching Food Wars for a couple of weeks now, I bought both seasons 1 and 2 on a whim (and they were relatively cheap), I'm liking them more than I actually thought I would. I was NOT expecting the dark turn the story took on the 5th and 6th episodes of season 3, however! Really intrigued to see where it goes from here.

So, MHA thought. When Deku fights Muscular near the start of the fight after the dude recovers once Deku basically says "Oh shit, I hit him as hard as All Might could've." Later on Deku clearly hits him harder though. Sooooo, was he just overestimating how hard he hit the first time or did he for a moment hit harder than All Might?

I'm guessing his (and All Might's) 100% isn't really 100%, just some sort of limit they impose themselves, and when they hit harder than that, they're "surpassing their limits". It wasn't only Deku that did it, remember, All Might did it as well against Nomu in the first season (and, one could argue, againt All For One as well). I think it fits in with the whole thing of the show, which is "go beyond". I mean, that's what the whole "Plus Ultra" motto from UA is about, right?

  10. The final couple of pages from the first story of the new Amazing Spider-Man book's #1 made me happier than they should have.

Peter and MJ are back together! I hated the whole Mephisto thing, and it was about damn time!

Also, it's really weird seeing Ryan Ottley's art on anything other than Invincible.

  11. Oh man, this last episode of MHA... Now, I only got around to checking MHA last year, closer to the year's end than the beginning, as I collect DVDs and blu-rays, and have a sizeable anime collection as well. I had heard MHA was very good, saw that there was a promotion for the first season, the special edition blu-ray looked good, and I ended up getting it. I watched it with extremely low expectations and I absolutely fell in love with it. I saw the first season, ended up watching the second one in a flash as well, ended up buying the books, and when I was reading the story that's currently being adapted, I actually felt fear that the character who was fighting would die, because it's someone I really love. Ever since I read the story, I had hoped the anime adaptation would do it justice, and my goodness, did it deliver. I actually found myself tearing up at certain parts of the episode. One of my favorite episodes in all of anime, not just MHA, but all of anime. This is the kind of stuff that made me love anime, and I give a standing ovation to everyone involved in the episode (actually, the whole season three, because it's been home run after home run, starting with the Deku vs Muscular fight). This is wonderful!

Question about the newest MHA episode.

      Hide contents

Did the whole fight fit in this episode or did they break it up between this and the next one?

    It continues next week.

BIG spoilers, in regards to where exactly did it end:

This one ended a little bit after Bakugou's rescue, when All Might started changing back.
