  1. Oh man, guys, I think next week's episode of My Hero Academia is THE episode I've been waiting for ever since I've read the manga. I honestly can't wait! I don't think I've been this hyped for a show since I was a kid in the mid 90s, watching DBZ.

    Fuck. That's awesome.

MHA is really knocking them out of the park this season. Of course, the story they're adapting is amazing in its own right, but they're doing it justice and then some.

  3. So, has anyone seen the latest MHA episode yet? So, so good you guys. This was one of the episodes I was anticipating the most and holy shit, it did not disappoint one bit. One of the best episodes this show has ever had, period!

Shit is about to get the real with the next MHA episode!

So next week I have Avengers on Friday and MHA on Saturday... I think I'll just hibernate this entire week away. Can't wait!

Going to read the Attack on Titan manga online somewhere, just can't wait to know more about the story.

    Those volumes look great!

Thanks! I don't usually buy manga, but some series I just have to have. So far, the only ones I had (or was collecting) were Death Note (the all-in-one edition) and the original Dragon Ball (the 3-in-1 volumes; I'm up to the sixth right now, which makes 18 of the regular ones, I think), but I absolutely fell in love with MHA and had to have the books as well. I'll probably go to a store that has manga tomorrow, I may end up buying more (I have severe impulse control issues :P).

  6. The second episode of MHA's 3rd season was great! I was a bit disappointed by the first one as I'd hoped it started the story immediately instead of doing a recap, but this one was everything I'd hoped for (well, Mineta was still as annoying as ever, but I can live with that). Also, in anticipation of this season, I got this (spoiler'd for size):

I already had volumes 1 and 2, so I ordered up to volume 11 (except for the sixth one, the store didn't have it) so I have up to what I expect is the ending of the third season.

Any news on the release date of Season 3 of Attack on Titan? DAMN, just watched episode 7 of season 2 and it's getting better and better.

I don't think there's a specific date yet, just that it's supposed to be in July.

Speaking of AoT, last Friday I went with a friend (who likes anime, but isn't that big of a fan) to a mall, and we stopped by a store that has manga. I picked up the first volume of AoT and told him the show was great. I talked a bit to him about the story and showed him the intro, and he said he was gonna check it out. Long story short, he saw the entire first season during the weekend, finished the second season yesterday, is now considering buying the manga, and is telling me to wake him up when June ends (since the third season is supposed to start in July and all that), all the while cursing me for introducing him to the show.

    So, mission accomplished (H)

Now I'm going to get him started on My Hero Academia.

Roshi is touchy as fuck with Bulma. He never learns.

And Launch is an honest to God bandit when she's blonde, she's probably killed people with those guns.

Not just Bulma. Didn't he grope at least on one occasion #18 and Videl as well, during DBZ? I mean, sure, Bulma's his favorite target, so to speak, but she's been there since the beginning, 18 and Videl were there for a cup of tea in comparison.

Masako Nozawa will be Goku until she's in the ground and even then they'll probably have some Vocaloid kind of thing take over. They do need to cast a new Bulma though.

They already did, it's Aya Hisakawa.

    Here's the commercial in question:

I have to say, judging by that, she does a pretty good job. It's obviously not the same, but sounds similar enough. Although I'll admit that it will be weird not hearing Hiromi Tsuru voicing Bulma.

    As for the finale,

It was predictable, but predictable isn't synonymous with being bad. I really loved it, I echo what was said here about not realizing I wanted to see Goku and Frieza fighting side by side until it happened, the fighting was amazing, everything was like it should be.

I only got into Super fairly recently. When it first started, I read some bad things about it, namely about the animation and the recycling of the movies, that turned me off from the show. I was still kind of updated on what happened during the show, because the site I go to for "nerd news" always does some recaps and articles about DB. It started picking my interest when Vegeto showed up, and I started watching regularly when this last arc started. I ended up buying the first two blu-ray releases and watching the rest of the series in an instant, and I don't regret it one bit. I loved the show, not as much as the original DB or DBZ, but I did, and I'm really glad they made it.

Now to wait until December. When's My Hero Academia season 3 starting, again?

Oh, and Marvel has ripped off Image. Can't remember the character's name, but they had a character pop up (in one of the Spider-Man titles, I believe) that looked waaay too much like Spawn.

    Nightwatch was pretty bad, yeah.

Also, apparently there's a rumour that Sony is interested in making a movie about him... with Spike Lee directing.

  11. Ryan Ottley's gonna be drawing the Amazing Spider-Man books.

On the one hand, I think it's great, because I love Ottley's art. On the other hand, it will be extremely weird to see his art on anything not related to Invincible.

Now I wanna track down that Invincible/Spider-Man crossover (I know, I know, he wasn't the artist on that book, but still...)

  12. Both FMAs, definitely. The first FMA has an anime-only ending and Brotherhood, which is a more faithful adaptation of the manga, can be somewhat redundant for the first few episodes, but they're both excellent and two of the best anime shows ever, IMO. Fate is... eh. If it was Fate/Zero I'd tell you to watch it, definitely, but for F/SN, maybe watch 2-3 episodes just to check it out. As for the rest, Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are usually highly rated, but they weren't my cup of tea (Bebop is considered a classic), and while I enjoyed SAO, it's far from perfect and I can understand the criticism it get from a lot of people. The first season does go downhill for the second half, but I feel it picks up in the second season again.

EDIT: Oh, and Code Geass is definitely worth watching as well, especially if both seasons are available. I never watched Bleach, so I can't talk about that one.

I've gotten so used to watching subbed Dragonball that I sometimes look away forgetting I can't understand it without seeing it.

I do hope they explain why Frieza couldn't counter Hakai like he did before.

It's been a while, but wasn't the Hakai he countered before just a small sample give to the assassins or whatever? Given that this Hakai was used by Toppo, it was presumably more powerful and pure, meaning he wasn't able to counter it like before, I'd guess.

Also, I loved the part when Freeza showed up again after that. It was almost exactly like when he showed up alive after getting hit by a Genki Dama in Namek, just before killing Krillin and making Goku turn SSJ.

    Death Parade sounds interesting...

Anyone seen it? Worth checking out?

I  watched it a while ago, don't quite remember the story or its twists and turns, but I remember that I enjoyed it enough to buy it :P

I watched Your Name...I went in hyped, and I was not disappointed. The music, the visuals, the story...it was all beautiful to me. I actually cried a little bit, and I'm a relatively emotionless guy.

DId you watch it in a cinema? If so, I can only imagine the spectacle it must've been, I really wish we got anime in cinemas over here, I would definitely have gone to watch it.

  16. Last night I watched two movies back to back, blind bought as well.

First off, it was Your Name, it had arrived the day before. I had heard about this one a lot, like it was this great masterpiece, so I took the chance and purchased it. Now, I don't regret it one bit, as visually the movie is astonishing and the soundtrack is brilliant as well, but the story, though... I feel like it had potential to be so much more. I still loved it a lot, but after all the hype, I couldn't help but be just a tiny bit disappointed. I would have liked to see more of the characters as they lived their other lives, and I think that, at about 1h40m, it felt kind of short for the story it was trying to tell.

The second one was A Silent Voice. This one was actually my second viewing, as I had watched it for the first time exactly a week before. This one's case was a bit different than Your Name, as I hadn't ever heard about it, just saw that Anime Limited (my favorite UK company for physical releases) was selling it. I took a look at the synopsis and it sounded really interesting, and the blu-ray edition itself was beautiful. Damn, am I glad I bought this, I absolutely fell in love with the movie. It was funny, it was brutal, it was charming, it was painful, and at 2h10m, I almost wish it had been 3h10m. While visually impressive (Kyoto Animation at its best), it's not as good as Your Name (nor is its soundtrack), but to me, the story blew Your Name's away; I felt invested in the main characters in a way that I just couldn't with Your Name, and given that I didn't know anything at all about the story it's based of (I also ended up getting the manga after I watched it for the fist time, and I think the movie does a great job at cutting some unnecessary stuff, although it could have benefited to add some other things from the book, mainly how the male main character ends up being accepted by the female main character's family, and maybe some more stuff to make a couple of secondary characters more important in the movie - in they books they have fairly biggish roles, in the movie they're relegated to glorified cameos, but I digress), I felt real fear during certain events that happen near the end. Just a beautiful movie that, when all's said and done, I wholeheartedly recommend  to just about everybody.

Has anyone here seen these two?

  17. My only comment about this episode is :crying:.

Like, I knew what was coming, I read the comics, but I was hoping that would be one of the things they would change in the show itself. The way Ezekiel told that story about him and Shiva to Carol in the beginning, I immediately got this feeling of dread, and whenever he got surrounded by walkers, I felt uneasy; when Shiva showed up in practically the same exact situation as her comic book death, I started saying "no no no no no no no". Dammit, I never thought I'd feel so awful to watch a CGI tiger die, but here I am. One thing I am grateful though, is that they didn't make it as explicit as in the comics; IIRC, the comics were brutal. It was probably because the special effects required would be extremely expensive or something like that, but her death was effective enough as it is. Those sounds...

    :crying:
