  1. To me it seemed like Cruise was doing his usual job of hamming it up. IMO, he hasn't been very good in a long time. It doesn't matter what the role is. You can always see how infatuated with himself he is and it comes through in every role. I used to be a big fan of his work too.

Good call on the Gladiator roles.

Meh, I've been thinking about it, maybe it's because I saw the movie before I read the book and Cruise's image of Lestat is the one who stuck in my mind... dunno, really. But I still think he was great :P

Hmmmm... some more... Mel Gibson & Danny Glover as Riggs & Murtaugh.

  2. I still have a glimmer of hope, though, I just checked further Activision's site, and it says Spider-Man 2 for PC is also developed by Treyarch and the game's official site has nothing on the PC version, just a "COMING SOON" thingy... Hopefully they'll release a port or something. But I doubt it. It's bullshit, I tell you, bullshit :angry::angry:

  3. I got  :shifty: the PC version today, and the only thing i can tell you is DO NOT GET THE PC VERSION

    more on that here

    http://www.pcgamessource.com/reviews/spiderman22.php

i finished that version of the game in like 4 houres and jesus DID IT EVER SUCK, i was so lucky wen i found this review afterwards that toled me that the console version is different (now that explains w2hy the console versions are about twice as big as the PC version)

PC version = Le Grand suckeeé

Fuck. Guess those forums were wrong. This sucks, why must PC gamers always get the worst of it? I mean, for conversions we have to wait months, and most of the coolest games (IMO) come out on the consoles, yet not on the PC. God dammit, this isn't fair.:(

  4. I'll agree with your list except for one. I HATED Cruise as Lestat. It just didn't sit right with me. I read the first few Lestat books and loved them but when I saw Cruise playing Lestat it just turned my stomach.

Really? I actually loved Cruise's interpretation of Lestat. He had this feeling to him, I dunno, he just looked/felt like Lestat. Stuart Townsend though... While not necessarily BAD, he just wasn't right.

Just remembered more: Russel Crowe as Maximus and Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus in Gladiator.

  5. Question: Is the PC version the same as the console version? I've downloaded a demo and it was this friggin' kids game, and it sucks hard. But I've read on some forums that there are two PC versions, the kids game and the console port. I also went to the official site but there's nothing about the PC version yet. Any help here? Please? I'm desperate since I don't own a console and don't have the possibility of owning one.

  6. I really hope Portugal win now, so that England can say they got beat by the best.  Czech Republic will be a hard task for the Portugese though.

Don't count Greece out yet, they've been great in the tournament and I can see them pulling off yet another surprise win tomorrow. But yeah, again, I doubt we will win :ohwell:

(Hey, I've been doubting all this time and it got us this far, maybe it's my good luck charm :P)

  7. Holy shit. When the Euro started, if someone told me we were going to go to the final, I would've laughed at their face. Now we ARE in the final. I never imagined they could do it, and I'm actually proud of the team. Heh. The twists and turns of football... Saying that, WAY TO GO :D

  8. Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview With The Vampire was perfect, I think. Stuart Townsend's Lestat in Queen Of The Damned paled in comparison.

    Arnie was perfect in Terminator.

    Ian McKellen as Gandalf.

    Stallone as Rocky.

    Bruce Campbell as Ash.

    Seann William Scott as Stiffler.

    Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman.

I'll post more if I remember...

  9. Uefa have launched an attack on sections of the English press for their treatment of Swiss official Urs Meier.

Meier was vilified in sections of the English media for disallowing Sol Campbell's 'goal' in the quarter final defeat at the hands of Portugal.

The Swiss deemed that John Terry had jumped into Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo, which allowed Campbell an uncontested path to the ball.

Meier was the subject of adverse press coverage and Uefa felt it went too far.

"We are disappointed with the behaviour of some of your colleagues, especially in the case of Urs Meier," committee president Volker Roth said at a press conference on Monday.

"As president of the German football federation I am used to handling the press, even the yellow (tabloid) press, but the way some of the English press have blamed Urs Meier for a correct decision is completely unacceptable.

"They have gone into his private life, given details of his home, his car, his wife and this is unacceptable.

"For four years, the referees and Uefa have been open with the press, but if the press act in this way in the future the situation may have to be reviewed."

Even UEFA admits it's been a foul. Now can we please move on? As I was watching the game and the ball went in, I didn't even move because it was a foul. It may not be a foul according to England's rules, but apparently it's a foul everywhere else, including here (I myself have seen many goals disallowed because of fouls like those). I'm sorry, but this is getting rather annoying. It's done with, let it be.

  10. Just wanted to give my 0.02$ on the game and on some of the people in this thread

First of all, fantastic game, both teams played well. In my opinion the goal shouldnt have been disallowed and Ulf Meiser should have check with the linesman on it. Im really sorry for Vassell, he didnt deserve that happening to him, Christano Ronaldo would be shot for being the cockiest bastard of all time and the portugese guy who chip it in is the coolest motherfucker of all time.

Now I would like to pay my attention to some the people in this thread. I think both sides are being pricks and should just shut the fuck up and go lay down. Matzat is being a complete arse and the english fans should just try and relax. I myself was rooting for the english side, and yes, the goal shouldnt have been dissallowed, but shit happens. Through the entire tournament so far there have been subpar reefereing, but I havent heard you make as big a fuss about it until it happened to you. I, like some of the other non-english members on this board, think that you are blinded a little by bit the love for your team, because the way you talk about the English team, it sounds like they can do nothing wrong.

And for whoever started making nazi and WWII references to the german members of the board should just shut the fuck up. You keep thinking there's a conspiracy against you and that all that doesnt have the same appenion(sp?) as you automaticly has something against you and England. Nobody has anything against England (Except for their hooligans, shessh), because everybody knows that the only country everybody hates is France. :shifty:

God, I hope that's not directed at me...

    If it is: you're a poopy-head.

  11. Reverse it. Say that the roles for the dissalowed goal switched, and Johnny be honest, how would you feel?

Like I did against Greece. Pissed off, disappointed, but I wouldn't dwell on it. Like against Greece. The main difference is probably this: I have no faith in the Portuguese team, and I did not expect them to take the win, hell, I didn't even expect them to get this far, and I know they won't win the Euro, so I'm not that disappointed when they lose. I'm thrilled when they win, but don't care much if they lose. I just move on. Like I said, it's just a game. Please, can't we just stop the trolling and move on? Things like this happen all the time in football/soccer.

:realizes that trying to be a peacemaker is like kicking himself in the nuts and walks away:

  12. Jesus, guys, calm the fuck down, it was just a game! There'll be others, you can kick our asses next time, yadda yadda yadda. When Portugal lost to Greece I was pissed, yet accepted the defeat and moved on. This trolling is getting out of hand, really :ohwell:

  13. The image limit on the board forbids me from posting the amount of "lol" smilies that statement requires.

I like you Johnny, but even YOU can't say that and mean it.

I can, and I will say it again. We deserved it. Sorry. It's my view of the game. The way I saw it, it was Portugal Portugal Portugal with England sticking to defending, almost never passing from the midfield. I'll say it again, I admit I did not see the whole game, no. I had some nature problems :shifty: and had to study a bit because I have exams next week, but I saw the majority of the game, and that was what I saw. Not trying to start an argument here because I'm not the kind of guy to rub it in (except when I really wanna piss people off, but that's not the case), but that's what I think of the game.

EDIT: Just one off-topic question... Am I the only one who thinks Maniche kinda looks like Jim Carrey? Honestly, several times when I'm watching the games and they show Maniche, the first name that comes to my mind is Jim Carrey

  14. :enters thread quietly:

:points and laughs at England fans:

    :runs for his life:

Jesus Christ, I almost had a fucking heart attack. Well, Portugal done it again, I know I'm probably gonna get flamed for this by English fans, but we deserved it. I admit it, I didn't see the whole game, just the majority of it, and we fuckin' deserved it. That goal that the referee overruled WAS a foul, I believe it was Campbell who charged Ricardo in the keeper's area, and it WAS a foul. Way to go, team! :D

  15. So, with that said, bring it on Portugal.

Them's fighting words around here, boy! :shifty:

Seriously, again I have no faith in Portugal. But I'll wait, they surprised the hell out of me before and I hope they do it again, although I'm not counting on it.

  16. How NOT to adapt a book into a movie:

    Queen of the damned.

Those who read the book and saw the movie know exactly what I'm talking about.

EDIT: Just saw Misery, and I must say, it's one of the best book to movie adaptations I've ever seen. The main premise of the story stays there, and only minor details are left out (except for the way Annie kills a cop in the book is much cooler than the way she kills that old sheriff in the movie... My main gripe. Why the hell was such a sheriff when in the book there's no such character? Oh well, it's all good in the end). I liked it very much.

  17. I've known about this for a long time now. Luckily the director is not the one who was supposed to be at first (Uwe Boll, IIRC, the one who did the god-awful House Of The Dead). But I'm weary about this, I don't think a movie can givemake the game the justice it deserves (it's one of my favourite all-time game series). I'll just wait and see.
