  1. Cheap as hell, but I put prox mines on every respawn point in a GoldenEye death match against my then stepfather. It was just hilarious to see the look on his face as he died the second he respawned.

No real memorable gaming moments, but playing 3-4 man 60 minute deathmatches with my friends on the same game. I think in all of that time, one of us managed to kill a guy by shooting a recently thrown grenade.

An online game of StarCraft against someone else. The map had a river in the middle of it and only two bridges that crossed it, both of which were relatively near each other. Both of us had the sense to create a massive military base on both banks of the river complete with anti-air turrets and several bunkers. We fought to a stalemate for over an hour, neither foray into the enemy's side--whether through the ground or through the air--succeeded. The battle was mainly attack, wait for five minutes to rebuild army, defend, rebuild for five minutes, and so on. Eventually, he managed to Nuke several of my turrets and I couldn't repair them fast enough. A fleet of starships destroyed me. I later learned after watching the replay that there was a certain point about 40 minutes into it where I could have won if I had actually sent an army into his territory at that time.

  2. Even though you're primarily talking about movie TV series, what I've just heard about what happens in the latest Star Wars novel seems to fit.

Aliyn Vel: the daughter of Boba Fett, makes her official novel debut (she had appeared in one short comic story, had some information about her printed in an article, and was retconned to have appeared in one of the teen YJK books) and is promptly killed off in said novel...

  3. As for superhero comics, I only have a few issues of Ultimate Spider-Man (Issues 2-6 to be precise).

I'm much more of a Star Wars fan when it comes to comic books. I really like John Ostrander's work, especially when he contributes with Jan Duursema (which some of you can see by my avatar.) The new series Legacy is a great piece of work when it comes to Star Wars comics. Republic was awesome as well.

  4. Figos: Soldier for the Empire is mainly the backstory of the characters from Dark Forces, and I think it ends after the Mission to Danuta (the first level of Dark Forces). The other two books do cover Jedi Knight.

As for good Star Wars novels other than Zahn's Thrawn books (I assume you mean both the first Trilogy and the Hand of Thrawn duology as well) I would greatly reccomend Stackpole's X-wing series (Rogue Squadron, Wedge's Gamble, The Krytos Trap, The Bacta War & Isard's Revenge). I, Jedi by Stackpole is another great work focusing on Corran Horn's perspective during the events of the Jedi Academy Trilogy (which is an OK book trilogy, not as bad people say.)

I've heard good things about Troy Denning's Tatooine Ghost, and A.C. Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy (which takes place before Episode IV) is another great read.

And to add my own opinion to this thread; has anyone here read the new novel by Allston (you might want to pick up his X-wing novels as well) called Betrayal? I've read it and thoroughly enjoyed it, but has anyone else on these boards other than me read it?

  5. Simple, which band/artist makes up the biggest part of your collection?

I think with me, at a guess, it would be Pearl Jam.

    Ten

    Vitalogy

    VS.

    Yield

    Lost Dogs

    Riot Act

    Pearl Jam

Penn State, Pennsylvania (dunno the date off the top of my head)

    New York, New York 8/9/03

    So a healthy 9 CD's.

  6. Yet another futuristic Final Fantasy? Is it just me, or have RPGs found a nice and comfortable niche in the sci-fi genre, the FF series in particular? I guess that's why (out of the FFs released on the Playstation consoles) FFIX has my favorite setting. That or Tactics.

It does look good, however. Hope the story is great.

  8. KOTOR 3? Nah...

How about Jedi Knight IV? Hopefully starring Kyle Katarn and taking place during the Yuuzhan Vong War.

X-Wing/TIE Fighter: We Star Wars game fans need another one of these things.

Mutant League ****: Can we get another one of these please?

    Starcraft II: Long overdue...

A US Release of a Nobunaga's Ambition game.

  9. I voted for Audioslave, though honestly its a close call for me between Audioslave and Soundgarden...never heard his solo stuff and, surprisingly, it seems like theres no love in this poll for Temple Of The Dog...

  10. I think during most sports games I get pretyt furstrated, but I had an ugly streak when I took Idaho in NCAA.

I lost in 4 OT's and missed a bowl game the first year, than lost by 3 points in the next season opener against a much better team. Than lost in overtime to Boise State after missing a field goal by like three feet.

    I deleted that season :shifty:

  11. Pearl Jam about a year ago. Sad, I know, but I don't have that much money.

October 5, 2004 - Vote for Change Tour, Fox Theater; St. Louis, MO

Opening: Death Cab For Cutie, Gob Roberts

Ed solo before opening bands: Last Kiss

    Set list: Love Boat Captain, Last Exit, Animal, Save You, The American in Me by The Avengers, Corduroy, Immortality, Alone, Jeremy, In My Tree, Wishlist, Rearviewmirror;

    1st encore (acoustic): I Am A Patriot (Ed solo), Man of the Hour, Small Town, Off He Goes, All Or None, Black;

    2nd encore: The Seeker by The Who, Do The Evolution, State of Love and Trust, Better Man/(Save It For Later), The New World (by X) with Tim Robbins, Fortunate Son by CCR;

    3rd encore: Yellow Ledbetter/(The Star-Spangled Banner)

    Great show, BTW.

  12. Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

    8/10

While not my favorite in the series (that honor belongs to Dark Forces II), Jedi Academy is still a solid addition to the series.

    Pros:

It uses the same engine as Outcast

I'm not usually one to find game engines heavily repetitive, so this may very well be a con to some people. In my opinion, the engine the game runs on performs very well with only a few flaws.

    More 'saber options

While I haven't gotten that far in the game yet, the option to choose between using a single saber, dual sabers, or the Exar Kun style Double-bladed saber brings an additional edge to the game. Also having a small tutorial in the game on how to pull off additional saber moves makes the game a little better. Also, being able to select your hilt at the beginning of the game is also a great option.

    Mod Community

Did you miss the original game that started it all? Well, the mod community is working on it! Need a new saber hilt that more fits your view of what Jaden is? Want to play through the game in the guise of your favorite EU character? The mod community offers a great experience. Of course, this is true of any game.

    Cons:

    You Play As Jaden Korr

Nothing against the character, personally. However, it feels a little weird to be playing a Jedi Knight game without being Katarn himself.

    Rosh is too annoying.

I don't know if it's the dialogue written for him or the voice actor, but it's just too much.

  13. Well, I just got Dark Tide II: Ruin from the library. And the Battle of Ithor has to be one of my favorite battles so far. From the intial discovery of the planet's strategic value until the

total destruction of the planet from a Vong weapon.

  14. I am also reading the Star Wars New Jedi Order series, but right now I'm stuck between the two Dark Tide novels. Mainly because the library seems to be having a hard time keeping Ruin in and I have no money.

So far, I'm enjoying the series very much.
