  1. Regarding the game proper...holy cow there are so many systems.  While it is a lot of fun in multiplayer and the presentation is far from their worst effort, the sheer fact that everything seems to have its own unique mechanics (in the case of submissions, variations on those mechanics) becomes tiring after a while.  The ring physics are still wonky, as I've seen all three ropes stretch as if you're about to launch over a castle wall.

Perhaps it's the relative simplicity or roster versatility of FPWW, but 2k19 is a pass for me until the friends and I feel like playing ladder matches again.

  2. Phew...let's see what I can recall:

Atari:  Grand Prix, followed by Pitfall.
NES:  Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, followed by Marble Madness and Legend of Zelda II -- first game I ever beat on the system was Castlevania II
Sega Genesis:  Krusty's Fun House, followed by Sonic 1.  Only system I ever finished a Mortal Kombat on.
Apple IIe/PC:  Mines of Titan, followed by Win, Lose or Draw -- first game finished was Incubation
Game Boy:  Dr. Mario, followed by Super Mario Land and Tetris.  First completed game was Kirby's Dream Land.
SNES:  Super Mario World, also the first game finished, but was quickly followed by NBA Live '95, Link to the Past and Street Fighter II Turbo
N64:  Goldeneye 007, followed by Killer Instinct -- first finished was WCW/NWO Revenge's Championship Mode
Playstation:  Hardball 5, didn't actually finish a game on PS1 as I mostly played sports games
Gamecube:  Resident Evil 4, also the first game finished -- obsessed over Smash Bros. Melee, though
Playstation 2:  Need for Speed Underground 2, but finished Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 first.  Quick shout-out to the Slim PS2, though.
    Nintendo DS:  Nintendogs!!!!
PSP:  Lumines, followed by MLB and Metal Gear Acid
Playstation 3:  Rock Band, which still haunts me to this day.  First game finished on the PS3 was Journey.
XBox:  Sigh...Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, though I don't believe I ever rolled credits on an XBox title.  By this point, we have reached the time in my life where it would be almost impossible to complete a game.
XBox 360:  Minecraft, followed by all the GTAV.  Nothing 1000'd, though.
Playstation 4:  Flower, followed by Sound Shapes.  First game platinum'd was the 1.0 release of Rocket League.
Nintendo Switch:  The Legend of Zelda:  Breath of the Wild, followed by Splatoon 2Super Mario Odyssey is the first finished Switch game for me.

My team let me down. Well deserved @Maxx but so help me if I see @thatshortguy at your victory parade!

“I want to say thank you to everybody in the stands today and that came out throughout the course of the season and boo'd The Srartown Sweeties,” Short Guy continued. “Without you, I would have been the only one and probably still would have boo'd.”

“And I want to say thank you to everybody on Maxx's team. Everybody had a role in defeating The Sweeties this year, and I’m proud of every single one of you who did. Thanks again.  WORLD FUCKING CHAMPIONS!”

    SRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!  IT IS ON NOW!

I dedicate this championship match up to @thatshortguy !

Maxx drafted Freeman, plus he's not Srar, so I root for Maxx!

And as usual he will be disappointed

Your face is disappointing!  Look at that face!  Who has a face like that one at the end of that sentence there!?  It's like you made a goofy face despite your Grandma telling you it would stick, then it stuck, and then she shaved you.  GO MAXX!

  5. That's why the Promoter DLC is so appealing to me...on the PC.  I want menus and stats all over my monitor, but as far as just "hey, let's all just be Stan Hansen and use nothing but lariats", the PS4 version is perfect for that.

Being able to add wrestlers from your phone is fairly cool, too.  I understand the Steam Workshop integration on the PC, but something unified could have been rather convenient.

Makes OBJ the highest paid WR in NFL history.  Unsurprisingly, I’m seeing tons of comments about how he got way too much given his injury history, but meh.  Every year somebody signs a deal that makes them the highest paid ever at their position.

This is going to make Julio Jones's new deal very interesting.  He'll want OBJ money plus more, but I still see that playing out more like Dez Bryant and less like OBJ.

Concerning Decker:  the poor guy has suffered quite a few concussions, so it seems like a good time to get out while he still seems to have his short-term health.

The switch just got a surprise launch of Into The Breach today for 14.99.

I bounced off of that one pretty quick while playing on the PC, but damned if I'm not intrigued by this on the Switch.

Definite recommendation:  Towerfall Ascension hits 9/27 and holy hell is that one a must-get if you have gaming friends.

Does Dead by Daylight feature kills the same way as Friday the 13th? Someone told me that you don't actually get to go through the action of murdering your victims in DBD, that you just catch them and then they go to a place where they try to fight to escape or die.

You'll carry your victim to a nearby hook, all while they try to struggle to escape or have teammates assist them by slowing you down.  When they're on the hook, they can either stay there and let their life drain slowly (giving teammates a chance to reach them) or struggle for a chance to break free before their life quickly depletes.

So you're not actively killing your victims, necessarily...more like sacrificing them to whatever spider monster takes them off of their hook when they die.  The real allure of DbD is more trapping your victims or toying with them before capturing them.

How long did it take you to get there? Are you using Heirlooms?

Started back maybe six weeks ago, but really bounced off of the Heirlooms and Garrisons as they were introduced.  I think I prefer just the standard 'go here, kill/gather x of y' experience right now.

Really it just comes down to the inevitable scaling back of games as I've gotten older and had to handle being an adult.

I may pop over and check on the PC player base, but I'm a wee bit concerned on how people keep describing Hollow Knight and Dead Cells as difficult games.  I'd be curious to know how they compare to something like Rogue Legacy before I plunk down $35 for both.

Quick update regarding Dead Cells on the Switch:  yes, it can be overly chaotic initially and there are some hiccups regarding the frame rate, but if you even remotely like this sort of game, you will very likely get hooked.

I've reached the first boss only once thanks to what I thought was an awesome build, but got thwacked pretty quickly during the boss fight.  With more cells, I'll get better drops and hopefully things will be a bit easier.  Those sewer scorpions and every enemy that can pass through walls can bite me.

  11. The PC version of No Man's Sky is the absolute way to go.  It's not greatly optimized, but I dig its take on third person controls and it's the perfect nomad game.  The base-building is now the icing on the cake for me.  This game may legit keep me from buying the WoW expansion.
