  1. It's Boston's home opener today, and it already feels like the wheels are falling off.  7-3 west coast trip is nice.  But then...

    - lame duck manager

    - only one major FA signing, who is out for the year after TJ

    - starting SS, who was brittle to begin with, now out for the year

    - #2 starter on the IL with elbow problems

    - Terry Francona has a spat with ownership, and skips the 2004 WS 20th anniversary.

    - Ownership has largely checked out, funneling money to other investments.

Anyone go to games alone? I was thinking about it and realized I'm missing out on a lot of trips to Wrigley because arranging someone to go with can just be way too much of a pain most of the time. Like I know when I'm available to go so why don't I just go right? Also if you have done this any tips on how to make it fun and maybe not feel a little odd about the whole thing? Like I'm up for it but it's a little different than going to a movie and just hiding in the dark for a couple hours

I've gone to Sox games alone a bunch of times.  I like going to games, and trying to get other people on board is a pain in the ass.  So, I just do what I want to do.

  3. The Falcons do have some pieces already.  If Fields is legit, he'd be pretty helpful there.

I was hoping the Patriots would try and scoop him up.  Not sure if it would take a 2nd or 3rd, but I rather use the draft capital on Fields than picking a QB at 3 and hoping Drake Maye is the answer.

I'm not opposed to trading out of 3, picking up an extra first rounder, and then let someone like Penix or Nix sit behind Jacoby Brissett for a year or two.  New England's roster is so barren on offense, you need basically everything.  QB, high end receivers, an offensive line, probably another RB.  You can't pick a QB at 3 and just throw him out there immediately.

Great, another wasted season incoming.  Jerry was so happy to have a coach that won a Super Bowl but won’t go after the guy with 6?  Fuck this shit, I can definitely find better things to do on a Sunday than watch this team rack up 11 meaningless wins en route to a guaranteed embarrassment in the playoffs.

A question is, would Bill even want to go to Dallas?  Bill is a control freak, and Jerry likes to meddle.

I would assume Pats fans if really pressed on it would take a very long winter in exchange for the nearly 20 years of dominance they had with Brady/Belichick + even the Parcels/Bledsoe years where they finally were not a moribund franchise. But all this is going to lead to is Belichick not being remembered as fondly as he could've been if he wasn't singularly obsessed with catching Shula.

I'm 38 and don't know what it's like for the Patriots to be trash.  Yeah the Super Bowls were great, but now we have expectations.  The longer Bill keeps losing, the more it looks like it was Brady than a team effort.

I'd have fired Bill after last season.  I'd do it now.  I'm assuming they'll get blown out in Miami.  This roster is a testament to Bill having an ego and being stuck in 2008.

  6. Quote

"Per a major league source familiar with the situation, just before the 2022 trade deadline - and a few weeks after Chris Sale had broken his finger in his second outing of the season - a team approached Bloom about dealing for the lefty," Bradford wrote. "The acquiring club was agreeing to take on all of the money left on Sale's contract (2 1/2 seasons of more than $50 million), while sending some semblance of players. The Red Sox wanted better players than were offered and no deal was done."

Oh man.  If it was me, I probably would have taken a box of baseballs to get rid of that albatross contract.

I know with the Lightning there's always stories of people who have moved from Buffalo or Boston or Chicago down there and have taken them on as a team 1b or even team 1a.

I know a guy who is originally from Pittsburgh, moved to Tampa.  Pens are 1A, Lightning is 1B.  At least they're in different divisions.  Same with Pirates and Rays.

  8. So here's a question for everyone out there.  If a team moves into, or starts up, in your city/state/equivalent- do you stay a fan of whatever club/team from before?  Or become a fan of the new one close to home?

Like say, if you're an Orioles fan living in Nashville but the Rays move to Tennessee.  Or an expansion team gets put in Nashville instead, but you're an Orioles fan there.  Do you stay a Royals fan?
