Is Stranded Deep any good? Seeing that it's just got a console release has me intrigued.

    And what about Green Hell?

I enjoy Stranded Deep more than Green Hell. The gameplay is slightly different in both but they are basically the sam (i do think Green Hell looks better). There is however nothing more terrifying that takin a nice swim in a wreck and then turning around in the maw of a fucking tiger shark....bastards... One of the VERy few games to get a proper jump scare outta me reatidly for the same damn thing. You'd think i'd learn my lesson.

What does seem to be in Green Hell's favour is a little more direction and story.

Team meetings are dumb. Up into League One with Alfreton and expect to get blown out of the water but was never anywhere near the relegation zone. Lowest I got was 14th after 8 games but managed to spend most of the last third around the promotion spots, managing to scrape into 6th spot before narrowly going out in the semis. Figured I'd be able to give an inspiring speech about pushing on next season but literally every option was about avoiding relegation but all of my squad thinks I'm being too ambitious. We were 30 points above the relegation area!

Hopefully the game gives me a nice reputation boost over the summer because it still treats me like a minnow. Maybe the league position and cup runs will help. Got to the semis of the tin pot cup after knocking out the U23s of Newcastle, Man U and Man City before falling to Wigan. Managed to knock out Derby in round 3 of the FA cup before making the unwise decision to take the game to Liverpool in the next round and got spanked 5-1 for my troubles. At least noted Bourne alumni Fidel O'Rourke managed to score against his old club with a nice jumping volley ahead of VVD.

EDIT: Oh good, the youth facility upgrades the board have been pumping money into all year have been cancelled at the last minute due to lack of funds. According to my finances they've spent 1.4m this season and I haven't got any of it back now, will they at least be able to pick up from where it left off when I ask next or are they gonna spend all that money again?

I've always hated the team talks and however it decides 'where' your players think they should finished.

In 2019's game with Coventry, I finished 6th in the League but won the League cup (team was expected to finish mid table), team talk new season and everyone is upset I want to push for promotion

2020 Season we win the Championship and go out in the knockout stage of Euro Cup II. 1st season in prem fight bravely against relegation. Alright lads I think we can do that. EVERYONE gets upset. Eventually finish mid table. 2022 and 2nd Season in Prem 'We should fight bravely against relegation'...boo hiss your being to ambitious....'bitch please!'

  3. Hey Guys!

Working on a project and i'm looking for some people (streamers ideally) who are interested in filling out a short survey (it'll take about 5 minutes). I'm essentially trying to understand the motivation/activity of folks who raise money for charity on platforms like twitch. If anyone on the board already does raise for charity, or perhaps its something you've thought about doing I'd be super grateful if you took a little time to fill out the survey and let me know about your experiences.

Let me know if this isn't cool to post (or just remove it) but I thought i'd reach out to some folks directly.

A lot of the clubs have the liaison officers who basically sort out everything for them so its not surprising in certain extents that some players may not actually know how to do a lot of things when they've got someone on speed dial.

Social media manager at work has done that same role at 3 separate prem clubs and she's always said they pretty much have to hand-hold the players when it comes to their interactions with Fans.

Have you tried to avoid relegation?

I'm afraid I have to let both of you know, despite being longtime members of the team, there just isn't going to be room in the squad next year as we head into the premier league. I think it's best if we started looking for a new club for you..

  6. I won the championship last night with 103pts. Either Huddersfield or Barnsley(?) (can't remember the 3rd team) ended up like 10 points behind me. I was floating in 3rd/4th for the majority of the later stages of the league and I went on a tear at the end and they clearly fell behind.

With victory on our minds and an unexpected promotion after just one year.... we had the end of season talk and...the game is still broken.

Told the squad that i'd like us to 'try and avoid relegation'. Almost everyone is very upset by that and thinks we are aiming to high. Tell the lads 'okay, fair enough, I've heard what you said lets try not get stuck in a relegation dog-fight'..boo hiss...we don't agree cry the players....we think your aiming to high still, we should be aiming to avoid relegation...

Excuse...did I not just say that the first time....

  7. See a SIGNIFICANT increase in performance of the squad since the update.

I've been on a streak as of late but the now 5 games I've played (at the end of the season) have ended up 3 x 2-0, 1 x 2-1 and 1-1. In ALL of the games my strikers have scored from one-on-one positions. It feels....amazing...I've been relying on the midfield putting the ball in the net more than it should have considering the chances the Strikers get.

Benfica came back from a 6-1 deficit to 8-8 on aggregate...

And then conceded almost straight from kick-off to lose the tie.

That's the kind of game if i was manager of young boys i'd just 'nope' the fuck out and restart.....

From the looks of my game, the AI favours 5-3-2 and 4-4-2 at this level. I have seen a couple of 4-2-3-1s about...but the 'classic 4-3-3' as I call it ('4-1-2-3 DM Wide' is a stupid name, FM) seems strangely absent.

If you look at the 'top' formations people have been sharing for FM20 they are pretty much all a variation of the DM and 2 Wide players. At Cov I play that and another common formation of 5-1-3-1. I think it has a 'big' thing to do with the ai's inability to deal with balls over the top. I've found my Wingbacks and DM's have a tendency to hammer 50 yard cross-field missiles to the forwards who hit the team on the break...striker scoring is another issue though...

There's a great deal that I like about lower-league management, but having to replace half your squad every summer is the absolute worst. Especially when you've just been promoted and have the sneaking suspicion that 90% of your remaining players aren't going to be good enough anyway.

Edit: Though I do like nabbing the 'Record Signing' achievement with the massive outlay of £16,000.

having to replace the squad is one of the things that I really enjoy in LL management and that fact that you can do it ALOT easier than higher up the league.

I'm in January with Cov (chasing 1st place with 2 games to spare) and i desperately need to get rid of players and bring in better performers. But..no one is interested in signing the folks i need to get rid of and their 'termination fees' aren't worth it. Worse is knowing that come July...I still wont be able to get rid.

The "chasing back, stop the ball, but keep on running off the pitch while the attacker just saunters in and reclaims it" special has been a favourite of my defenders at times.

Good lord both of these have been plaguing my Coventry save atm. I do see a lot of 'player overruns ball'  alot and i'm wondering if its to do with the game 'filling in' extended highlights and creating content when there is none. My players do it more than enough on the touchline when on the attack and the highluight ends with the defender hoofing it clear.

This beta update for the match engine feels loads better. I haven't had had one instance of defences just being split open by one long ball never mind having it happen about 20 times a match leading to a one on one that was never scored.

I'm looking forward to when that fix rolls out. I was thinking about my complaints about losing to teams lower in the league and how it now seems that the most part of it is the 'feeling' that I lose to lower teams. (i'm currently on a 20 match unbeaten run - bunch of draws in there). The game I play against lower league teams I break apart defences and my strikers regardless of form just hammer it past the post or into the keeper. When i see the AI replays, the ball just goes into the net.

I'm just used to seeing my players missed EVERYTHING (what seems like everything) and the AI opportunities being actual goal opportunities.

Best game of the season so far last night. Beat 9th placed Derby (i'm 3rd with a game to hand) 5-2 at home. Ai still banged in their two goals within minutes of me scoring but a few team shouts and not panicking and changing the play style keep them out for the last 3 goals.

It's not the number of players when it comes to depth, but their ability. You could have 20 Championship standard midfielders, but if you're in the Premier League, you're going to be lacking depth.

Thank you! Thank makes a load more sense. My DMs are both 2* atm which is probably the issue (everyone else is 3* and above...i hope that's enough for a 'should struggle for survival champ team').

One of my DM's is Jack Rodwell who likely wont be around next season (he'll have had 3 good years) and is a steady 2* now. However the best part is that for like the first time ever (in my memory) I've brought up a youth player as his replacement. Currently 2* Fredric Richard my 18 year old swiss/english dynamo with 5* potential. Excited to see where he goes but I have a VERY young squad atm with my GK being 20 and his backup 21.

  14. Trudging my way to the January transfer window in my Coventry save. 3rd season in and barring a few confusing a sh*t games everything is going well. Still struggle with ANY team lower than me (league, nation or otherwise) but am able to go toe-to-toe with clubs i consider significantly better than me.

REALLY need an out-and-out goal scorer in January as Matt Godden and Philipp Hosiner have seen there goals dry up this season (granted Godden was injured for 2 months at the very start). My loan striker (Timo Regouin) is a beast in the Euro Cup II (6 goals in 5 group games) but can't find the net in the league. Problem is I have 0 transfer funds and i'm abour 2k-3k over my wage budget (I packed out the coaching staff this season and that nudged me over) and despite taking the club into circa 7m balance (from less than 1m) the board wont give me extra funds. I'm still on the bottom of the wage table for the Championship.

I have targets that I want to bring in but I'm not sure I can shift 2 over 30 strikers who have dropped in the goal scoring department. They've both signed new contracts so should I just stick out the next 2-3 years and bring players in when I can?

I'm also having players complain about the lack of depth in midfield... I play 3-2-1-2-2 or 3-3-1-2-1 (wingbacks and a dm) and I have 3 first team players for the CM position and at least 2-3 players for the wings...what am I lacking Is it the DM position (I only have 2 players for it but rarely run that formation). Sometimes I don't understand the complaints or what a player considers to be an ideal number of players?

  15. Started a new game last night with Liverpool (1st time with a 'big name' club in fm20)

Planning a 'Britball' game where I'm only allowed to signed British Players (likely an issue when Brexit happens in game I guess). The plan for Non-British players is to sell them in the last year of their contract rather than look to release or get rid of them asap.

It'd be self sabotage I just dropped Salah, Firmino, Mane...Alison..Van Dijk....oh shit thats a lot of players. I'm look to try and do a transition to Brit Players.,

Any suggestions on Talent to keep an eye out for? Excluding people like Sancho etc.

    • Eddie Nkeitah? Had him in my Cov save in Fm19 and he was smashing 1-2 goal per game in my 4th season.

    It's a beautiful game sometimes.

Wish my players were that selfless in front of goal. Can't count the number of missed opportunities cuz the forward hammers it into the keeper or past the post instead of just passing.

Start of the third season. It was Riqui Puig after having him on loan for a season and a half. I actually find it quite hard to do much with budgets like £64m, cause it means I aim a bit higher with who I want to sign, but invariably when I go after players valued at about £30m with it, the clubs want about £60m and I'm just like... well, no. And then I dunno who to sign cause I don't feel like having to pay £40m for players valued at about £15-20m either.

I currently have £49m left after signing Puig, and I kinda want to sign Ruben Neves from Wolves because they've been relegated, but he's still valued at £32m and doesn't seem to have kicked up a fuss so £49m doesn't seem like it'd be enough.

Although having said that, after writing that I just bid his value to see what they'd negotiate to and it was exactly £49m.

Completely agree. I often refuse to pay big transfer fees because god knows the computer rarely comes in for my players with HUGE offers.

For the 1st time at the start of my 3rd season with Coventry I asked the board to step in and handle a transfer, they paid 5m (the optional future fee amount) and sorted the guys contract out so I didn't have to worry about upsetting them. Was nice cause if they do that, it doesn't count towards your transfer budget until its gone through. Slipped Hiroki Abe in for £1.5m just before they signed everything off and my transfer budget went bye bye.

I think the value system in FM has always been a little 'off', though maybe I just don't understand how it works fully. I had a defender 'valued' at £3.5m but any club that came in for him would bid only about £1.5m. Not to mention the 4 1/2* youngster I accidentally offered out for transfer (who then wouldn't sign a new contract with me) only attracted bids of £100k and when I go in for youngsters 'worse' than him they want MILLIONS

Haha, I thought that too actually. Although I've just looked in my manager relationships tab and see that under journalists, old Timothee Mora is the only one in the red with me, described as "distant".

dude seems a little devious pressing you so may times. Maybe its for the best you keep your distance....

  19. Is there any particular reason why your scouts/coaches rate your own players better than they actually are?

My current game (now into the 3rd season with Coventry) I sold Dominic Hyam to Fleetwood for like £400k, reasonable amount but he's only a 3 star player. However he was rated as the 3rd best centre-back in my team at the time (I moved him on as I needed funds for the rest of the squad).

When i look at his profile now, my scouts only rate him at maybe the low 40's for his ability and not even in the top 5 defenders at the club. (I've only added one new defender since he left)

  20. Spoiler

To also quickly add while it was/is in my head. I felt a couple times throughout this movie that it was a number 2 in a trilogy not the final film. It felt like 2 seperate plots trying to be told at the same time with the same characters that deserved more time.

If I could change a thing (and hey lets pretend its not a trilogy but became 4 movies) have the search for the McGubbins be the entirety of this movie, have the climax be on the ruins of the death star and the 'final' scene being Kylo destroying the McGubbins as he did in the film. Your 'final film' can be stopping the Final Order and you can dedicated more time to space battles, ground war and emotional revelations, over trying to get little spurts of them in 2 hours.

Just my opinion and I REALLY ENJOYED the film so i'm not looking to actually change it
