  1. I have three complaints with Sword and Shield.

    1. Hop in general. His name is stupid and they literally reuse all of Hau's animations from Sun and Moon. He feels very lazy and he'd have nothing going for him without Leon.

    2. I don't like Dynamax as a gimmick. Megas were the peak for me, Z-Moves were kinda cool, I can't remember what Gen 6 had if anything? Terastilising adds a unique element and I really like what it offers (hoping for more in the DLC) but Dynamaxing is just "hurr durr I'm really big now".

    3. Post-game spoiler

    Spoiler

SORDWARD AND SHIELBERT WHAT IS IT WITH THE NAMES IN THIS GAME

The DLC was really good and I think it's definitely the way forward as opposed to a third version.

The change I'd like to see now, which they won't do because MONEY but if they made each generation longer to add more graphical polish I think it would make a big difference. Main games come out three years apart, would another 6-12 months hurt for one generation to improve the general look for the next 2-3 generations?

  2. Sword and Shield are a good jump in point. I will say, don't go too hard on the DLC too early, I don't remember if it scales and the Raids it lets you do give you access to lots of good Pokemon very very early, so I'd save it for post-game.

I've really enjoyed Violet for what it's worth, although I'd rather have had the Scarlet legendaries. Looking forward to the DLC.

We've just started watching Extraordinary on Disney+ which is actually brilliant, but my thoughts last night were that this should have been on Channel 4 because I'm not convinced people will even find it and it'll disappear after the first series.

    It already got renewed thankfully.

  4. I'm not taking Bring Me The Horizon slander, theyre recent stuff (basically anything 2016 on) is fantastic.

Ghost are fantastic and I'd argue should have held off and headlined next year; Kaisairion, Spillways, and Square Hammer are all great.

Within Temptation are a very good but one I don't listen to that frequently, Sinead was always my favourite track of theirs. Get compared to Evanescence a lot.

Caskets are a new one I like the look of, Glass Heart is probably the highlight off their debut album Lost Souls.

Motionless in White might be closer to the screaming end of the spectrum but I really like Brand New Numb and <c0de> outside of the terrible stylisation.

Alter Bridge did Edge's theme so should be familiar enough for that if nothing else.

Nova Twins' debut album "Who Are The Girls?" was very good.

I know Empire State Bastard are a new side project from Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil, but they aren't on Spotify so I can't tell you any more about them :P he has an eclectic catalogue across his various projects.

The Hu are an interesting one if you want something different, they're from Mongolia and bring a different flavour to their music.

Speaking of different, Elvana are a Nirvana cover band fronted by a guy pretending to be Elvis, I've seen them live and it's exactly what you think but people apparently love it.

If you don't already Pendulum, they're more electronic and Propane Nightmares, Watercolour, and Witchcraft should give you a decent taste.

Three Days Grace peaked years ago with Animal I Have Become and Riot (deep cuts for the Smackdown vs Raw crowd there) but I don't know what they sound like now.

Disturbed have been around for years and honestly should just be a covers band because I prefer their covers to everything else they've done.

You said no to punk but pop punk wise I can't say enough good things about Neck Deep, Stand Atlantic, Set It Off, The Blackout, Mod Sun, Simple Plan, and Bob Vylan.

Not sure I like that. With a world where everything is changing so fast, I thought the only thing I had left to cling to was a Download Festival headlined by Slipknot, Def Leppard and Anthrax.

    You philistine.

    Anthrax have never headlined.

Looking at the leaked Download Festival announcement has really driven home how little I know about that particular scene these days. Plenty of people are raving about bands I've never heard of. I really should try to listen to more new music.

It's the best line up in years and I'm gutted I can't go. Happy to make some recommendations if I know any of the ones you don't.

  6. See I've listened to three of those and Young Fathers was my least favourite. Enjoyed Raye's album, thought The Men was middling, the Young Gathers one did nothing for me. Haven't gotten to Lil Yachty yet.

Mod Sun has jumped up to the top end of my list, but we're getting "new" Linkin Park music tomorrow so everything else is irrelevant to me.

One Call to Action trophy left, then I need about 5 outfits and I'm done. Made some good progress the last couple of days.

Final outfit left to get tomorrow and I'm finally done! Have to say, enjoyed the game a lot more the second time around just rushing through the story.

  8. It's more that lately it just seems to throw me remixes of stuff or singles for albums that aren't out yet. There's been a fair amount released this year I like, just not many full albums.

I really like all the songs Sleep Token have been dropping recently but the album has no release date, You Me At Six's album got delayed until February at the last minute, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low have both released singles I've liked but the albums don't arrive until March. I got suggested a new single called "Eat You Alive" by Anger Party which I liked but it's literally the only song they have out at the moment. There's still loads from 2022 I haven't gotten around to yet and I keep finding stuff I like that's older, so it's not like I'm not finding new things, they just aren't "new" new :P I've been listening to The Rumjacks and Pennywise recently because they were the support for Dropkick Murphys last week.

The two 2023 releases I've actually listened to are Anti-Flag and Wilswood Buoys, which were both fine but neither made a lasting impression.

  9. First gig of the year tonight, Dropkick Murphys! Gutted that The Interrupters aren't supporting this one now but I might head in for Pennywise and The Rumjacks if I can be bothered to leave the bar early enough.

I'm 4 chapters through some NG+ clean up on Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm fairly certain the bulk of the collectibles I'm missing are from Chapter 6 onward so hoping I won't need to do any Chapter rollbacks (although I think I already need to do chapter 4 again because the guide I was following picked the opposite decision to me and I didn't realise because the part with the collectible I needed never came up).

One Call to Action trophy left, then I need about 5 outfits and I'm done. Made some good progress the last couple of days.
