  1. WCW Thunder

    01.04.01

    Memphis, TN

    TBS 8:00pm

Announcers: Mike Tenay & Stevie Ray

A video package highlights the events that transpired between Ric Flair and Scott Steiner on Nitro. Tonight, the package promises that Flair will speak about the swerve done by Rick Steiner.

A new WCW Thunder opening video package, accompanied by ‘rage rock’, displays action from all the top WCW stars. The longer into the package the faster the scenes go by. The package culminates with a shot of Scott Steiner standing strong with the WCW title around his waist.

Opens up to a panning shot of the jam-packed arena in Memphis, TN. The fans seem to be suitable stoked for some WCW wrestling excitement. A few notable signs in the crowd are ‘Feel the Thunder’ ‘Kevin Nash, Is It Fun Again?’, ‘Big Poppa Dump’, ‘Marry Me Stacy’. While the camera frantically scans the crowd, the voice of the Thunder announce team can be heard.

Mike Tenay: Welcome fans to another very thrilling edition of WCW Thunder. I am your host, Mike Tenay and this is my colleague, 11-time tag team champion, Stevie Ray!

Stevie Ray: Thanks Mike. Tonight, we be getting on like neck bone. We’ll be seeing lots of yaks, fruit booties and suckas. I’m ready for all the great action.

Mike Tenay: Uh huh. Well, folks let’s kicks things off with a huge cruiserweight tag battle!

3 Count (Shannon Moore & Shane Helms) v. Jamie Knoble & Evan Karagious

The first notable thing is the obvious dissension in both tag teams. Shannon Moore seems more intent on mocking the fans while Shane Helms seems to want to actually play up to the audience. Though Helms association with Moore still has him played as a heel. As for Knoble & Karagious, it appears that neither man seems to even want to acknowledge the other as they make their way to the ring. When the bell rings, it’s apparent that Karagious wants no part of the action while Moore and Helms argue over who should start. Noble makes the decision for them as he jumps Moore from behind to kick-start the contest. Noble whips Moore across the ring and connects with a high dropkick to the face once he bounces back. Noble drops onto Moore with a high elevation leg drop. Moore was continually worked over with a variation of aerial and ground attack. Noble makes an attempt to tag in Karagious but Evan seems to be more intent on posing to the crowd. This distraction, gives Moore an opportunity to stun Noble with a face buster. Moore is intent on proving his worth to Shane Helms and thus remains in the ring to start an offensive flurry on Noble. Helms, on the outside, tries to convince Moore to allow him into the match but Moore seems to ignore him. Noble is dragged to a corner and on the receiving end of some sharp chops from Moore. It’s apparent Moore wants to pound away on Noble with forearms, kicks and chops. Noble begins to fire back with his own offence but is quickly stopped with knee to the gut. Eventually, Moore lays out Noble with a hurricarana, which sets Moore up to scale the ropes for an attempted moonsault. Unfortunately for Moore, attempted is all he gets as Noble is able to avoid the move. Noble rolls to his corner and tags in a distracted Evan but this time, Karagious is happy to enter the ring, as Moore appears to be easy pickings. This time Moore is more then willing to tag out and he is able to do just that seconds before Karagious makes it to his body.

Helms enter the ring as a man on a mission and explodes on Evan with a flurry of dropkicks. Evan finds himself whipped off the ropes and bouncing back in to a high back body drop. Coming back to his feet, Evan is only met with a big arm drag. Evan retreats to the corner but then, is on the receiving end of a monkey flip. Helms keeps up on the offence when he wraps his legs around the head of Evan to set him up for a head scissors take down but Evan stops the move with a reverse sit out power bomb variation. Evan makes sure that the fire of Helms is out by dropping some big knees onto the head of Helms. Finally signs of teamwork are shown as Karagious tags in Noble to deliver a double dropkick straight to the face of Shane Helms. Noble goes back on the offensive until Helms is able to pull of a desperation move in the form of Nightmare on Helms Street. Helms attempts a cover but Noble is able to kick out at 2. Helms is able to make the tag to his partner and Noble just makes the tag to Evan in time for Karagious to start an attack on Moore. After a quick flurry, Evan puts Moore down with a big super kick. Evan bounces off the ropes in an attempt to follow up with a big splash but instead is greeted by the awaiting knees of Moore. Moore suplexes Karagious and then he tags in Helms who dives off the top ropes with an elbow smash. An attempted pinfall isn’t successful as Noble comes in to break up the count. Moore decides he isn’t a fan of Noble interfering and tackles him to the mat. Now, all four men are doing battle in the ring. Moore attempts a cross body on Noble but the Southerner is able to take Moore momentum and launch him out of the ring. This allows Karagious and Noble to start a double team on Helms. Noble locks Helms in a full nelson while Karagious gears up to knock Helms out with another super kick. Unfortunately, Noble receives the super kick, as Helms is able to slip out of the full nelson. With Noble knocked out of the ring, Helms is able to capitalize on the moment and puts Karagious away with a Verta-breaker. Helms celebrates 3 Counts victory in the ring while Moore seems to sulk on the outside.

    Winners: 3 Count

    71/59/84

Mike Tenay: What a fantastic way to kick off tonight’s program.

Stevie Ray: Man Mike, those kids sure can go. I think, that there Helms has got him a mighty future.

Mike Tenay: I can’t argue with that. Folks, we will be taking a quick break and then be back with comments from the men who swerved us all on Monday.

COMMERCIAL BREAK - Konnan keeps shilling the Pepsi, more promises of Arnold keep doing movies and all are encouraged to attend WCW action live!

    Flair Goes To Plan B

The sound of the siren brings out the combination of Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner, Midajah, and Jeff Jarrett. All four seem to be in an incredibly jovial mood due to their actions from Monday. The group enter the ring and give each other some big high fives.

Scott Steiner: This past Monday, I proved that not only am I the genetic freak with the largest peaks but I’ve got all the brains to match the brawns. I made Ric Flair look like a jackass on Monday, which may not be hard, but I still did it. Flair, you tried to leave me in the dark on who my opponent was. You were hoping to pull one on me and all my freaks. Put my very own brother against me but Flair, this was the worst kept secret in all of wrestling. Look on any 13 years old’s wrestling web site and they all knew who was behind the mask. As you know now, I knew who it was too. You Flair got suckered into a trap. Maybe now you know to leave the Big Booty Daddy alone once and for all.

Rick Steiner: Flair! You don’t like me then bite me.

Jeff Jarrett: So now Flair, you’ve got your main event. It’s me. It’s Big Poppa Pump. And it’s the Dog Face Gremlin. Flair, its three friends with one goal. That is to stick it to you Flair. To make sure we dominate this organization like it deserves to be dominated. I am the Chosen One. Flair. But right now, Scott Steiner is the WCW World Champion. Now at Sin, we can guarantee it will remain that way.

Scott Steiner: Flair, my new goal in life, along with pleasing every freak from town to town, is to make sure your life is a living hell. To make sure you realize to stay out of my business. Flair, I want to run you out of WCW. I want to make you step down as the CEO of this company. You don’t deserve the position. You don’t deserve to be in this sport anymore. You are past your prime. You are done! I’ve aligned myself with two of the best guys a genetic freak could ever rely on. The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett and my brother Rick the Dog Face Gremlin. Together Flair, we represent hell for you. Together, we are the Apocalypse. The Apocalypse, Flair, is a whole lot more dangerous with four cowboys on some ponies.

Jeff Jarrett: Ha ha ha. It’s so sweet. We’re running Flair out of this company. We will rule this entire sport soon enough. Tonight, all your Memphis morons are experiencing history. You are experiencing the start of the Apocalypse.

With those comments, Ric Flair’s theme music blares over the arena. Out struts the 16 time World Champion and the CEO of WCW. Flair lets out a big woo to the joy of the crowds.

Ric Flair: Well, you did it. You made me look like a fool on Monday. I hope you took a picture. I hope you file it away in your scrapbook because it doesn’t happen often. It isn’t going to happen again. You beat me down on Monday. Moreso, you got one on the Nature Boy and I looked like a fool. But I’m not one to cry over spilled milk. I regroup and I get this company back on track. Scott, I was never opposed to you being the champion. You are the man. You are the WCW World Champion. You are the best in this business. Steiner, you aren’t acting like a champion. I’m trying to help mold you into the future of this company. Instead, you beat up my son or beat up my best friend. WCW Sin was going to be an attempt to knock some sense in you. Your brother agreed to the deal and it was going to be big. I now know I shouldn’t have trusted a Steiner. For that, I give you a hand. You got one over me. You see, Scott you talk about the Apocalypse and how you are going to run me out of wrestling. You know how many people have tried to run me out of wrestling? You know how many wrestling factions have come through this company? I’ve seen them all, pal. I’m still here. The fans still raise the four fingers. Because they know what the Four Horsemen was all about and they know they will never truly die. When it is all said done, it’ll be me who is still kicking around in this company and your Apocalypse that will be long forgotten.

Scott Steiner: Flair, you’re boring the hell out of me. No one cares about you anymore. Nobody cares about the Horsemen. I’m the WCW World Champion. I’m God’s gift to professional wrestling and the idol of all in this arena. Everyone wants to be me and nobody wants to see you. The Apocalypse, Flair, is the future and we going to run you out.

Jeff Jarrett: Flair, we hold all the power. At Sin, it’s the three of us going for the World Championship. No matter what, we are in a winning situation. There isn’t anything you can do about it. Most importantly, Steiner will still be the World Champion when the night is all over.

Ric Flair: First off, I still don’t think Steiner can trust you Jarrett. You want that title more then anyone. Hell, you call yourself the Chosen One and the destined World Champion. You’ll stab Steiner in the back the first chance you get. You live and breath with the desire to hold that championship. I think your friendship with Steiner rings very false. But there is a second flaw to your statement. The one that says, there isn’t anything I can do about it. It’s true I signed the WCW Sin PPV. I have Jarrett v. Steiner v. Mystery Man. It’s true the Mystery Man was supposed to be Rick Steiner. You see, sometimes you’ve got to be flexible. You’ve got to give yourself an out. The bomb I’m about to drop here is that Rick Steiner wasn’t ever signed into the championship match. All that is on the contract is for a third mystery opponent to be involved. You getting what I’m saying? Rick, isn’t in the match. He was supposed to be but now, I’m taking him out.

Rick Steiner: Wait a second, Flair, you gave me that championship match. You said. . .

Ric Flair: Wooooooooooooooooo!!! Is it sinking in? Are you realizing you can’t play the master of the game? Yes, there is a third man but it isn’t you Rick. I never made you official because I never fully trusted you. The deal is, all I signed was for a third unknown opponent to be signed. Now, I’m about to make it known.

Scott Steiner: Who the hell is he, Flair?

Ric Flair: Patience, Scotty. First off, Rick, it’s great to have you back in this company. Thus I don’t want to leave you off such a big show as WCW Sin. Rick, you are out of the WCW title match but I’ve got a new opponent for you lined up. He can dance. He can party. Oh man, he gets along with the Nature Boy just fine. He can most definitely kick your ass. Rick, you’ll be facing the Cat at Sin!!! [A pop from the crowd] You see, after last Thunder the Cat has some desire to seek vengeance on people named Steiner. Tonight, I’m putting Cat in a tag match against you Champ and you Jarrett.

Scott Steiner: Whose his partner, Flair? Who is the other victim I’ve got to send to the hospital?

Ric Flair: Oh you know him well, Scott. You know him very well. Actuality, if I look into the WCW history books it would appear you owe this man a title shot. He is a deserved number one contender to your title. He will not only be the Cat’s partner but he is also the opponent of you and Jarrett at WCW Sin. This man is none other then. . .

The lights go out in the arena and the crowd give out a shocked pop. There could be heard some rustling in the ring. Then suddenly, the lights come back on in the arena.

    Ric Flair: STING!!!!!

Lo behold, it is none other then the man they call Sting. Sting looks exactly like how he was last seen back in November. Sting has his handy bat on his person. The surprised Apocalypse members try to rush Sting but he drops each with a big bat shot. Sting is able to make Scott crouch over with a blow and then, Sting drops him with a Scorpion Death Drop. The three men realize that Sting did get the better of them and roll to the outside in retreat.

Sting: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! It’s good to be back. And Booty Daddy? You’re a dead man. [points his bat at Scott which elicits a big pop]

Mike Tenay: Wow, what a return by Sting. What a huge main event we have for later tonight!!!!

Stevie Ray: That cracker is going to mess up the champ something fierce.

COMMERCIAL BREAK – THQ hypes an upcoming WCW game, PS2 lets us know they indeed do have games and Sport Illustrated Swimsuit edition is hyped.

    Meng & Kwee Wee (w/Paisley) v. Terry Funk & Crowbar (w/Daffney)

Believe it or not but this match was done as a regular wrestling match. Considering that this story is being played in the WCW Hardcore division it would appear the fans were disappointed with a regular match. The story of the match, is that Meng is an invincible monster that neither Funk nor Crowbar seem to be able to take down. Not being able to use foreign objects makes it even harder for the hardcore duo to be able to overcome Meng. Meng tosses both wrestlers all over the ring with a variation of slams and suplexes. Eventually Meng tagging in Kwee Wee, allows the team of hardcore stars take an advantage in the match. The two Sin opponents do a fair job of working together to keep an advantage on Kwee Wee. Eventually, Kwee Wee takes enough of a beating and starts to get angry or more exactly, he starts to become his second personality, Angry Alan Funk. Alan is able to fire off shots to knock down both his opponents and then make the big tag to the monster Meng. Meng continues to bring the attack to both Terry and Crowbar until Daffney attempts to interfere. Daffney comes off the top rope with a cross body block but the large Meng is able to catch her easily; but the move provides a distraction for Crowbar who is able to deliver a low blow to Meng. Both Terry and Crowbar take advantage of the situation and deliver a big double suplex to the monstrous Tongan. Seizing the moment, both wrestlers scale the turnbuckles in order to deliver a double flying axe handle ala Randy Savage. Except Meng isn’t out of the match as much as was hoped and catches both stars with a Tongan Death Grip on their way down from the top. Meng applies the hold with full force and is able to get both wrestlers down on their shoulders. The referee is able to count 3 on Funk and Crowbar. During the count, Daffney even jumps on the back of Meng in an attempt to stop the 3 count but Meng doesn’t even seem to acknowledge her presence on his back. After the win, Kwee Wee & Paisley celebrate their victory with Meng meanwhile, Daffney attends to her fallen tag team.

    Winners: Meng & Kwee Wee

    57/55/59

Mike Tenay: What a monstrous display by Meng. He has truly proved that he deserves to be considered for a future WCW Hardcore title shot.

Stevie Ray: I think, he proved he deserves to be the champ. That gorilla just demolished the participants for the WCW Sin title match. I don’t think no sucka can stop him.

Mike Tenay: I’m sure this will only add to the growing frustration of Crowbar and his quest to be the best in hardcore wrestling.

At Least One Person Is Excited

A promo for the return of Glacier is aired. It’s exactly like the promo that has been done in the past with the promise that our world is about to change and blood runs cold. This time the promo adds that Glacier will return on the premier episode of WCW Wildside this Saturday.

The scene cuts to Norman watching this video on the screen and getting very excited about the coming appearance of Glacier. He starts rambling about how WCW needs a hero and finally that hero is coming. He can’t wait to finally be able to meet Glacier despite the fact, Glacier was in the promotion when Smiley was (but sometimes, history needs to be ignored in order for story to progress). Norman starts to do the Big Wiggle in order to really show his complete excitement. Smiley then ponders if their might be a way that he can tag team with Glacier on Saturday and he runs off to talk to a booker.

Norman lost 2 points of over ness – fans don’t seem as excited about the return of Glacier

Perfect Event (Chuck Palumbo & Shawn Stasiak) (w/Mike Sanders) v. Filthy Animals (Billy Kidman & Rey Misterio)(w/Tygress)

Sanders goes on the mic before the match and recounts the events of Monday Nitro and how Sean O’Haire ‘single handily’ defeated DDP plus how the Thrillers laid out the Insiders after the match. Sanders reminds the crowd that the Thrillers are definitely the future and will prove it again when they re-win the WCW tag titles. Crowd reminds Sanders that they don’t like him by booing him loudly. The Animals start the match off quickly using their speed and high-risk offence. Dropkicks, monkey flips, hurricaranas, handspring elbows, moonsaults, reverse snap mares and more are enough to keep Perfect Event on their toes against the much smaller opponents. Enough so that the frustrated Power Plant grads roll out of the ring to collect themselves. This only allows the Animals to introduce the Event to their no hand planchas. In the ring, Kidman and Stasiak pair off and it’s Kidman still showcasing his speed to overwhelm Stasiak. Quick tags are constantly made between the Animals in order to keep Stasiak off balance. Eventually, control finally comes to Perfect Event with Sanders just so happens to be sliding his arm across the mat when Rey is running the ropes. Palumbo and Stasiak put their size and strength to the advantage by tossing the Mexican star all over the ring. Palumbo shows his strength particularly by bench pressing Misterio over his head and actually, doing several reps with him before dropping him face first. Misterio groggily gets to his feet only to hit the mat hard after a stiff lariat. Palumbo and Stasiak continue a power arsenal against Misterio that consists of backbreakers, hip tosses, tilt-a-whirl slams and suplexes. Palumbo decides to try to completely wear Misterio out by applying a big bear hug. The big man is able to apply a vice like grip and really drain the energy from the cruiserweight star. The ref checks the arm of Misterio and the arm does indeed drop on two tries. The crowd begins to rally behind Misterio and the cheers give Misterio the energy to keep the arm up on a third time. Misterio doesn’t have the energy to punch out of the hold and thus resort to taking a big bite out of Palumbo’s nose to break the hold. Palumbo grabs his nose while tagging out to Stasiak and Stasiak rushes to intercept Misterio but instead is greeted by a freshly tagged Kidman. Kidman enters the ring full of energy and spunk greeting both Event members with dropkicks. Stasiak is drop kicked into a corner where Kidman runs into and monkey flips the self-proclaimed wrestler of perfection. Stasiak returns to his feet only to meet the mat again courtesy of a hurricarana. Kidman then delivers a spinning bulldog using the turnbuckles for assistance. Kidman goes for the cover but Palumbo breaks up the pin attempt, which brings in Misterio to take out the ‘Main Event’. The ref tries to break up the combo of Misterio and Palumbo thus is suitably distracted. Kidman sets up and delivers the Kid Krusher (Unprettier) to Stasiak and looks to have knocked the man clear out. Kidman points to the top turnbuckle and gets a large pop from the crowd as they anticipate his next move. So does Mike Sanders, as Kidman tries to come off the tope rope it is Sanders who grabs onto his ankle to prevent such a move. This, of course, bothers Tygress who comes over and attacks Sanders which suitably frees Kidman to administer his shooting star press. Except Stasiak is no longer on the mat awaiting such a move but has now wearily returned to his feet thus Kidman must change his plan of attack. Kidman leaps off the buckles executing a cross body block but Stasiak was ready for such a move and reverses it into a pinning predicament. A pinning predicament that sees Stasiak grabbing a large handful of tights for the 3 count.

Perfect Event and Mike Sanders celebrate in the ring by adding in a few more shots on the beaten Filthy Animals. Mark Jindrak and Sean O’Haire come in from the back to join in on the fun of beating down on the Animals. Except the music of the Wolf Pack shows that not everyone appreciates a good beating of the Animals. The crowd explodes with excitement as the Insiders with baseball bats in hand make their way to the ring. The Thrillers feel they have numbers on their side and try to jump the armed veterans but things go badly for them. Each Thriller either gets to feel a Diamond Cutter or a Jackknife power bomb before all is said and done. The Thrillers slink to the back while Nash and Page raise their bats in the air in celebration of running off their foes.

    Winners: Perfect Event

    77/72/83

Mike Tenay: It’s sweet revenge for the Insiders against their archenemies the Natural Born Thrillers.

Stevie Ray: The Thrillers verbally punked those two earlier tonight and now the Insider physically punked them out.

Mike Tenay: What an explosive situation this is turning out to be.

    Wildside Matchmaking

Cut to the backstage area where Mean Gene is standing beside the WCW Cruiserweight champion, Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo, with the Cruiserweight title firmly around his waist, is cockily grinning beside Mean Gene.

Mean Gene: Chavo, you had mentioned earlier to me that you wanted to make a special challenge tonight?

Chavo Guerrero: That’s right, holmes. I am without a doubt the most legendary WCW Cruiserweight champion of all time. Maybe even the greatest champion in the history of our sport. Holmes, nobody can touch the excellence that is Chavo. I’ve put up with a lot crap around here. I had a stupid wooden horse. I had to sell Amway. I even had a dumb name in Lt. Loco. All the crap is over now. It is nothing but Chavo the king of cruiserweight wrestling. This right here is proof of that. (points to his title) I’ve decided that I’m going to give all the fans the ultimate treat. The chance to see me defeat more then one cruiserweight at once and to really show my dominance in this division. So, for the debut episode of WCW Wildside, I will put my title on the line in a Four Way Elimination bout. All my Chavo worshippers will see a chance of their hero to make 3 separate eliminations. It will be a true event.

Mean Gene: This is huge. But Chavo, who will the other 3 competitors be?

Chavo Guerrero: I’m making it an open challenge to any 3 stars. Whoever is the first to sign their name on the open contract. First three get the honour of being defeated by Chavo, king of the cruisers. Now, I will make one exception. Helms, you’ve got your shot at Sin. I already question your worth against me but you’ve got the match no matter. So, I don’t think you should get the honour of fighting me on two occasions. Besides, I’ve already proven I’m better then him from this past Monday when I easily pinned him.

Mean Gene: Easily? You hit him with your title?

Chavo Guerrero: No matter, holmes. I proved my worth. Helms, isn’t worthy to be part of my open challenge for this Saturday. Everyone else, line up and get your chance to say you were beat by the best.

All of a sudden, Corporal Cajun comes into the shot. He gives a cocky smile to Chavo.

Corporal Cajun: We’ve been friend for a long time now, Chavo. It was a joy to team with you again this past Monday. I realize you and Rection have some problems right now. MIA has some disorder. I would like to think that we are okay. Our friendship is still in tact. With that knowledge, woo-wee, I’d like to challenge you to a match. You get what I’m saying? Good ol’ Cajun, wants to be part of the invitation. I want a shot at the title. This Saturday, count me , mon ami.

Cajun points out the side burns then playfully slugs Chavo on the shoulder. Cajun then pops out of the scene as quickly as he appeared. Chavo seems less then thrilled by Cajun’s entrance into the elimination bout.

    Lex Luger v. Wayne Debruce

Luger and Debruce both come out without their partners. Luger looks over DeBruce condescendily and begins to mock him. Though the mocking doesn’t last long once Luger tried to lock up with the Power Plant trainer. Luger goes in on him and is immediately taken down with a fireman’s carry. DeBruce rides Luger down to the mat and overwhelms him with several amateur takedowns. Luger finally needs to roll out of the ring and regroup from this unexpected offence. Boos come out from the crowd as Buff Bagwell makes his way down to ringside. The two begin to counsel on their strategy to beat DeBruce. But when Luger re-enters, it is the pug-like trainer that takes over the match. DeBruce even scores a two count off a power slam. Eventually, the number games play a part as Buff trips DeBruce from the outside. DeBruce stumbled right into a hard Luger clothesline. Luger delivers a power slam of his own but the gritty Wayne is able to kick out. Luger unleashes an assault of axe handles and forearms onto DeBruce. Finally, Luger really takes out DeBruce with his patent ‘steel’ forearm smash. Luger goes for the pinfall but picks up DeBruce at the count of 2. This of course, enrages Mike Tenay on commentary who declares that Luger is trying to take DeBruce out of the tag match. Luger soon after administers a crushing back breaker slam, which is a set up for the Torture Rack. After a power slam, it is indeed the Torture Rack backbreaker that come up next. Luger continues to put the pressure on the hold until suddenly the music of Goldberg fires up for the PA. The crowd begins to perk up and eagerly anticipate the appearance of Goldberg. Luger also readies himself for it as he drops DeBruce to the mat. Luger and Buff continue to look out at the entranceway despite no one coming out. This causes enough of a distraction for DeBruce to roll up Luger in a schoolboy and to score the big 3 count! Luger freaks out in the ring from being pinned by DeBruce. DeBruce immediately rolls out of the ring for his own safety. Unknown to Luger and Buff, somebody else has entered the ring from the crowd and that somebody is obviously Goldberg. Totally Buff turn around to be greeted by a devastating spear! Goldberg picks up both individuals and delivers separate jackhammers. Goldberg goes to the back with his arm around his mentor.

    Winner: Wayne DeBruce

    51/56/40

Wayne Debruce gained one point of over ness

Lex Luger lost 1 point of over ness

Mike Tenay: What an upset by Wayne Debruce!!!

Stevie Ray: Upset? That goof Luger lost focus on the match. Goldberg totally distracted him. You know what, I’m okay with that because Luger is a fruit bootie.

Mike Tenay: How will Totally Buff react to this change of events?

    Watch And See

Chavo is, in the locker room, admiring his WCW Cruiserweight title. He even tried to check out his face in the reflection of the gold. While Chavo is distracted, Gen. Rection enters the room and lets a big cough to get Chavo’s attention. Chavo drops the title from surprise and turns around immediately making a disappointed face in seeing Rection.

    Chavo Guerrero: Oh, it’s you.

General Rection: Yeah, it’s me Chavo. The leader of the MIA, a group that you are a part of. We are a brotherhood. We are supposed to looking out for each other. But Chavo you haven’t been having MIA’s best interest in mind lately. Actually, you have only had your interest in mind. I’ve been watching you, Chavo. I am disappointed in you. You cheated this past Monday to win a tag match. Last week, you administered an unnecessary attack on Shane Helms. I know, the other two respect and like you. Thus they don’t want you out of MIA. They are the only reason you aren’t kicked out. I need to see improvement, Chavo. I need you to explain why you’ve been acting this way? Ever since you won the Cruiserweight title, you have been acting very differently.

Chavo Guerrero: I’ve been acting differently? I need to change? Hugh, maybe it’s you that needs to change? Shane Douglas for has schooled you over a month now. You’ve been looking like a fool. He’s got your number. You are supposed to be the leader of MIA? What kind of example have you been? You can’t even keep the troops together. Besides that, your name is stupid. Rection, I’ve been losing all respect for you. You’ve lost the edge. The edge it takes to get things done around here. I know I am going to be able to walk out of Sin with my title. You? Do you think you can beat Shane? Do you even have it anymore, Hugh? I don’t think so.

General Rection: [seems agitated from Chavo’s comments] Lost my edge? Lost my passion and fire? Just watch, Chavo. I’ll show you edge.

Rection storms out of the locker room, while Chavo goes back to enjoying his own reflection in the title.

    A-Wall v. Shane Douglas

Before the match, Shane Douglas accepts Gen. Rection’s challenge to a First Blood match at WCW Sin. Shane promises that it will be Rection’s blood that will be spilt once again. Once the match is underway, Shane has a hard time trying to get control on the larger A-Wall. Shane runs into A-Wall with a shoulder tackle but is knocked down himself rather then budge A-Wall. Shane attempts to slam A-Wall but the big guy blocks it then slams Shane in return. Shane tries to punch the big man but instead, A-Wall is able to catch the punch with his bare hand. Shane then crumples to the mat as A-Wall squeezes down on his fist. The hand on Shane is dropped on the mat just so A-Wall can stomp his large foot onto it. A massive clothesline is completely able to knock Shane flat to the mat. A-Wall awaits Shane to get back to his feet and then drops him back to the mat with a big body slam. Shane is continually punished by the much larger athlete by a variety of body shot and slams. Eventually, Shane gets dirty and slows down the athlete with a low blow. Shane then mocks the crowd around him and delivers a few punches to A-Wall’s head. The weakened A-Wall is now much easier to be slammed to the mat. Shane climbs the ropes and hits the rising A-Wall with a flying clothesline. Shane then start to blend some underhanded tactics into his match with some chokes, eye gouges and fist shots. The ref constantly warns Shane and the fans continue to boo Shane. Though Shane doesn’t seem to get as much heat in this match as he would against an opponent the fans would care more about. Eventually, the fans begin to perk up as Gen. Rection comes out from the back. Shane continues on offence but makes sure to mock Rection the entire time. At one point, Shane spits at Rection, which causes the leader of MIA to jump up on to the apron. This obviously distracts the ref, gives Shane time to pull out his chain. Rection notices the unveiling of the chain and pushes the ref out of the way so he can get at Shane. The chained fist is raised but grabbed by Rection before it can connect with A-Wall. Rection rips the chain from Douglas’ hand and then drop Shane with a clothesline. Rection is set to knock Douglas out with the chain but the heel rolls out of the ring to the back. Ref immediately disqualifies A-Wall for the interference. Rection makes his angry face at Douglas and doesn’t notice an angry A-Wall behind him. A-Wall pulls Rection around and demands to know why he bothered to show up. A-Wall continues to yell at Rection for being selfish and ruining his match. Rection tries to explain himself but instead, he is choke slammed by an angry A-Wall. Shane is seen laughing at the top of the ramp.

    Winner: Shane Douglas

    55/54/56

Mike Tenay: My oh my, is there ever dissension in the MIA. A-Wall is furious with Rection.

Stevie Ray: Douglas totally divided those two suckas. He played them like fools, Tony.

    Mike Tenay: It’s Mike.

Stevie Ray: Same ol’ fruit booty to me!

COMMERCIAL BREAK - Ad hyping up this Monday’s episode of Nitro, which will headline with Goldberg v. Steiner. Konnan implores you to enjoy Pepsi just like he does.

Be sure to enjoy Weekend at Bernie’s 2 this weekend on TBS!

    Konnan (w/Tygress) v. Lance Storm (w/Major Gunns)

Konnan does his usual hollering out to his ‘dawgs’. Storm asks if he can be serious for moment and get the respect for his national anthem. I’m sure everyone can guess which ones garnered positive responses from the crowd. Lance Storm tries to start out fast against Konnan but the fiery Mexican (by gimmick) stops him with a abundance of forearm shots. Storm is quickly slammed to the mat and once he returns to his feet, immediately knocked down with a rolling clothesline. Konnan is happy with his offence thus grabs his crotch and dances around the ring to the delight of his fans. Lance eventually gets in a seated position, which is never good in a Konnan match and this proves to be the same, as he gets dropkicked right in the face. Lance is brought back up to his feet and then tossed hard into the turnbuckles. Konnan charged hard shoulder first into the chest of Storm. Once that leaves it’s mark, Konnan mounts on Storm and delivers several shots to the head of Storm. Konnan drops off the turnbuckles and whips Storm chest first into the opposite set, which causes Storm to crash down to the mat. Konnan then bounces off the ropes and drops a big elbow smash onto the chest of Storm. Konnan tries a cover but only gets a two. Konnan remains on the offence and puts Storm down hard with a blue Thunder bomb but once again, only scores a two count. The Tequila Sunrise is the next attempt in Konnan’s arsenal but Storm fights out of it with stiff elbow shots. Konnan releases his hold and then, is immediately dropkicked in the shin by Storm. The plan of attack by Storm becomes obvious as he immediately goes to work on the leg of Konnan. Two main forms of leg attack were setting the leg on the ropes only to have Storm jump onto it and wrapping the leg around the hard steel ring post. The attacks seem to be effective and Konnan limps around the ring. Storm laying some very solid kicks to continue to harm the leg and to cause Konnan to drop to the mat. During the attack, Tygress tries to rally the crowd behind the hurting Konnan and it does spark them to be much more livelier then they have been for most of the show. Storm applies an ankle lock onto Konnan, which causes the faux gangster to cry in pain. Through the chants of the crowd, Konnan finds the strength to power out of the move. Several shots are rain down onto the head of Storm and causes the Canadian to break his hold. Despite the bad leg, Konnan gets some momentum and knocks down Storm with clotheslines. The enraged Storm returns to his feet only to leave them from a big back body drop. Konnan starts to sense momentum and springs off the ropes. Unfortunately, that stops the momentum as Major Gunns blasts the flagpole into the right shin of Konnan. The move was subtle enough to not draw attention from the ref but it does enough damage for Storm to capitalize. The Canadian Maple Leaf is immediately applied on Konnan and the pain is too much for Konnan to hold out from tapping. Storm keeps the hold on a few seconds after the bell in order to really cause some pain. Major Gunns bounces in the ring to celebrate with Lance Storm. The celebration is cut short as an angry Tygress pounces onto to Gunns. The crowd breaks into a mild frenzy as the two hotties commence into a catfight. Storm is distracted by this fight and allows Konnan to return to his feet to attack Storm. Eventually, both Gunns and Storm are sent packing from the ring. The ringside mic is grabbed by Konnan and the Filthy Animal issues a challenge for Gunns & Storm to meet the two of them on Nitro in a mixed tag match. The members of Team Canada nod in agreement and it looks like a match has been booked.

    Winner: Lance Storm

    73/74/72

Mike Tenay: It looks like this war is far from over, as we are going to see these 4 go at on Monday.

Stevie Ray: Yaks should be in the kitchen cooking supper and not doing the thing in the ring. But it’ll still be on like neck bone this Monday. Filthy Animals have some revenge to exact.

Mike Tenay: Well folks, that is another big one for this Monday Nitro as well as the huge main event of Goldberg v. Scott Steiner. After this commercial break, we have our huge main event with the returning Sting and the charismatic Cat facing off with Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett.

Stevie Ray: Let them at it!

COMMERCIAL BREAK – There is some more Nitro hype for this Monday with the focus being on the rubber match of Steiner v. Goldberg. Everyone is encouraged by Konnan to drink them some Pepsi. Don’t forget that THQ made a kicking WCW video game!

Scott Steiner (w/Midajah) & Jeff Jarrett v. The Cat (w/Miss Jones) & Sting

This is the most fired up that crowd has been all evening as everyone involved in this match is fairly over. The crowd was super jacked when the lights dimmed and Sting made his way down the aisle pointing his bat the entire time at Poppa Pump and the Chosen One. Steiner doesn’t back down from a fight and agrees to start the match with Sting which causes the fans to go even more ecstatic. Sting is super pumped from his absences and completely takes it to the champ. A flurry of punches in bunches rocks the self proclaimed genetic freak. The champion is flung into the corner turnbuckles and is then crushed by a flying Stinger splash. An excited Sting yells out a giant ‘whoo’ and the fans return the cry. Sting repeats the same action in the next corner and causes the champion to crumple to the mat. Stinger senses a early victory and starts to try to apply the Scorpion Deathlock but it’s immediately broken up by Jarrett. Taken down by the shot, Stinger rolls to his corner and tags in the very ready Cat. Cat flies into the ring with a aerial karate kick that knocks Steiner down. The Cat awaits for Steiner to return to his feet and immediately unleashes with several kicks to Steiner’s abs. The Cat levels the champion with a big high kick right to the nose. The Cat grabs the arm of the champion and give it a nice big twist before tagging in the Stinger. Off the second rope comes Sting with a shot to the arm. Midajah tries to cheer her man on while he receives this assault. The offence for Sting finally ends when he is caught with a knee to the back from Jeff Jarrett when Sting was coming off the ropes. Sting tumbles to the hard mat while Steiner starts to gloat and flex to the crowd. The rising Sting is greeted with a massive release belly-to-belly suplex that flings him half way across the ring. At this moment, Jarrett is tagged in for a double back suplex. The Chosen One’s chosen offence ranges from dropkicks, various suplexes and a harsh DDT. None of the moves are able to put the fan favourite away. Jarrett tags back in the champion and the two put Sting down with a double back breaker slam. The next move is a abominable stretch, which is as assisted move by Jarrett when the ref isn’t looking. Of course, this double team enrages the Cat and causes him to try to intervene, which cause the ref to be distracted. The distraction allows for the heel to practice more double teaming offence and wear down the Stinger even more. Eventually, the heels taste the finish and Jarrett attempts to put Sting away with the Stroke. Sting isn’t ready to call it a night and starts to fire away with some punches. Off the ropes goes Sting and he collides with a cross body block on Jeff Jarrett. The momentum allows Jarrett to get the cover but only ends up with a 2 count. The tag is made to Steiner and Jarrett holds Sting while Steiner climbs up to the second rope. Steiner jumps off the rope with axe handle smash but instead of the intended target, he falls Jarrett with the blow. Sting gets a second reserve of energy and battles off both his foes before making the hot tag to the Cat.

A hot tag it is as the fans go crazy. The Cat goes even crazier as he dances before downing his opponents with a mighty kick. Midajah even attempts to involved but his greeted by a smack in the tush by Cat. The involvment of Midajah frustrated Miss Jones who pull the Amazon from the ring apron and starts to catfight with her down the aisle way. In the ring, the Cat is peppering Steiner in the corner with many kicks in the corner. A drop toe hold by the Cat is able to bring Steiner down the mat and allows the Cat to put on a rear naked choke. This offence by the faces causes Rick Steiner to make his way down to ringside. Rick jumps up on the apron to distract the Cat, which does work but also cause Rick to crash to the arena floor courtesy of the Feliner kick. The Cat then tags off to Sting so that the Cat can fling himself from the ring onto the Dog Faced Gremlin. The referee is distracted by all the outside commotion and thus allows Jarrett to re-enter the ring. Sting is pumped enough to fight off both individual temporarily. Finally, the number game is too much and the two heels are able to beat down Sting. Jarrett then retrieves his guitar and asks Scott to hold the Stinger. To the middle turnbuckle goes Jarrett as he measures the guitar up against Sting. Liking his position, Jarrett jumps off the ropes but Sting breaks away at the last minute as Jarrett’s guitar connects with the wrong man. Sting tosses Jarrett from the ring and covers the fallen champion. The ref notices a pinfall and jumps into the ring for the easy 3 count. The crowd goes crazy as their hero scored the big return pinfall. Sting celebrates with the crowd while Cat resumes brawling with Rick Steiner and Miss Jones with the Amazon women Midajah. Jarrett shamefully covers his face down at ringside while Steiner gives him death glares. The focus as the show comes to a close is Stinger raising his arms in victory.

    Winners: Sting & The Cat

    77/84/63

Mike Tenay: What a return for Sting as he is the first man to pin Steiner since he became the WCW World Champion. Could Steiner’s title reign be in jeopardy at WCW Sin.

Stevie Ray: I’m so happy to see that fruit booty get his, Tenay. I’ll be even happier when he loses that title.

Mike Tenay: I believe that could be happening very soon. It looks like there is a lot of dissension in the camp of the newly formed Apocalypse. As Jarrett seemingly accidentally hit the champion with that guitar. Look at death stare? What will happen this Monday at Nitro. Steiner v. Goldberg! See you then, fans!

  2. Head to Head Ratings Are In!!!

    01.02.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

The ‘new era’ of the Monday Night Wars isn’t a lot different then the old era. WCW gets their ass handed to them by the WWF. Though word is that TNT, Turner suits and those in WCW are fairly happy with the ratings. The belief is the numbers could have been much better if they didn’t air directly opposed to WWF. Though word at this time, is that WCW has full intentions to continue to directly compete with the WWF.

WCW’s final numbers for Nitro were 5.04. Which still a large amount higher then their previous numbers in December. It looks like the ad campaign for the last two weeks on TNT did pay off. Now, it’s a matter of seeing if WCW can maintain those rating for next week. WCW will definitely try to do that with loading up the show with a Goldberg v. Steiner main event.

The in arena attendance for WCW Nitro was a solid 4029. WCW made a gate revenue of $161160. Once again, word is that WCW is fairly proud and happy with these numbers but the goal is for a definite increase with next week’s huge show.

As for WWF Raw is War, it garners a very impressive 6.48. Which definitely means that WWF easily won this weeks ratings war but then again, it’s been wining since late ’98. The WWF is happy with this rating for a show that saw a main event angle between HHH, The Rock, Kurt Angle and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The in arena attendance for Raw was a 7022 and the live gate was $280880. WWF clearly beat WCW in all areas.

    Random Firings & Hirings

    01.02.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

It was an interesting day where almost all wrestling companies let some wrestlers go but also hired some new talent. Most of the hirings and firings will be a thing that we never remember or care for but there was a few big shakeups.

The death of ECW may be overstated as they made 4 very large contract signings. The ink has just dried on some brand new deals with Road Warior Hawk, Chris Candido, Curt Hennig and Juventud Guerrera. ECW apparently has some big plans to heavily promote and push these 4 big players. They will most probably have a big part to play in the upcoming ECW PPV, Guilty As Charged. There is rumours that Road Warior Animal is very close to signing with the company as well. The big news is that Chris Candido and Curt Hennig had been in negotiations to return to WCW but it seems they felt ECW was the better deal.

In the surreal department, Ted Dibease has agreed to an open contract with JCW. The devote Christian has joined what is arguable the most offensive and controversial promotion in wrestling. It’ll be very interesting to hear Dibease’s reasons for such an agreement.

So much for years of service, as WWF has fired long time wrestling announcer Howard Finkel. Many would have thought he would have had a job for life but that is obviously not the case. Rumours are that Finkel will now officially retire from the wrestling industry.

WWF released several of their developmental talent today. They also released a star that they had signed a big money contract to back in ’96. Mark Henry, a man most feel never lived up to the hype, was fired today. Many had thought he signed an iron clad 10 year contract but it seems that WWF was able to get out of it. Henry is immediately free to look elsewhere. Though rumours are that neither ECW or WCW have any interest in the big lug.

WCW Not Happy With DDP v. O’Haire

    01.02.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

Apparently, WCW agents felt that DDP v. O’Haire was a sub par match and didn’t think the two gelled well together. There had been high hopes that the contest would have stole the show but it didn’t live up to that. WCW is now questioning who they will put into the World Tag Team title match against the Insiders. Until now, O’Haire was a most definite in the slot as they are high on giving him a massive push. No word on what this match has done for O’Haire’s future.

    New WCW Program

    01.03.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

It is true that WCW had cancelled Worldwide. It now appears that another show will be directly replacing it. WCW is interested in having a show be on that isn’t directly competing with any WWF programming. Apparently, TBS had a open slot for early evening on Saturdays (the old WCW Saturday night slot). Starting immediately, WCW will have an early evening wrestling show on Saturdays again. The goal for the program is focus on cruiserweights and younger unestablished talent. Though the plan is to progress some storylines as well. The program is titled WCW Wildside.

    01.03.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

Here is the official signings for the new WCW Developmental camp:

Trinity – apparently, WCW wants to start a real women’s division and have this girl be the focus of it. She is a basic unknown at this point.

Tracy Brooks – another unknown that will be part of a future WCW women’s division

Air Paris – has made a few waves on the independent circuit and WCW would like him to bolster the cruiserweight division

AJ Styles – another indy darling that is relatively unknown but WCW has high hopes for him in the cruiserweight division

Afa Jr – The real life son of Afa the Wild Samoan and apparently one of WCW’s higher prospects and WCW sees money in him

Bobcat – yet another female for the mystical women’s division

Gail Kim – a female that already has a lot of talent and WCW wants to harness

Joey Matthews – last seen in ECW and WCW has hopes to have him as one half of their version of the Hardy Boyz

Christian York – the other half of WCW’s hopeful Hardy Boyz knock offs

Nick Dinsmore – A big stand out in the WWF developmentals and was immediately signed up by WCW when he was released

Rob Conway – apparently, WCW would like to team him up with Dinsmore to bolster the tag division

O.G. Ekmo – a big fat Samoan that can go aerial. WCW is actually very high on this guy and his cousin

Queen Victoria – a huge former WWF prospect that even made it on TV as one of the Hos this past year but is now a big WCW hopeful

Kimo – O.G. Ekmo’s partner and rumour is that WCW already has plans to put the titles on them once they get called up

Russ Haas – NCCA wrestling stand out and someone seen as WCW’s future

Charlie Haas – another big talent but apparently was hired to appease Russ

Shelton Benjamin – another big NCCA star and WCW is high on him being something special

Brock Lesnar – He is being touted as WCW’s biggest steal from WWF’s developmental. Intention is to get him ready for WCW quickly then push him to the moon.

On top of these signing, WCW already has Bod Sapp, Christopher Daniels, Michael Modest and Hail under contract.

    Reasoning Behind Unmasking

    01.03.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

The rumour is that the original plan was not for Rick Steiner to be unmasked on Nitro. In actuality, the entire final angle was a last minute rewrite. The original plan had been to hold off on revealing who the masked man was until WCW Sin and then to reveal that it was Ric Flair under the mask. The story would have been that Flair and Jarrett were working together. Apparently, it was nixed when WCW decided that Steiner is best used as a heel and such an angle would make him baby face. Plus WCW feels they already have too many ‘turns’ brewing in the works at the moment. Though the rumour is that WCW is still high on eventually promoting Flair v. Steiner but with the current alignments in place.

WCW decided that ‘mysteries’ tend not to sell PPVs very well and that it was better to end that angle quickly. Instead be able to promote an actual opponent against Steiner at Sin. Though it’s obvious that the current Scott v. Rick v. Jarrett will not be the final match. WCW’s current plan is to bring one of it’s current stars off the bench to sell the PPV.

Creative Differences Over MIA & Three Count Direction

    01.03.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

Rumour is that there is a big argument over the direction of the Misifits in Action and the Three Count tag team. One train of thought wants to keep Three Count as a tag team and to keep MIA intact. While another party, really wants Helms to break out on his own and become a big singles star. This same party, feels the MIA is hampering all the stars that are in it and wants to return them all to their previous gimmicks. This current conflict is what has stopped a full face turn for Helms and a full heel turn for Chavo. Unfortunately, it’s left for some really confusing television with a face acting heel and heel being the sympathetic one. Hopefully, this muddy issue gets resolved before the PPV or these two great stars might be wrestling in front of a dead audience.

    WCW Thunder Preview

    01.04.01

    credit: www.wcw.com

WCW is coming live to Memphis, TN for another explosive edition of WCW Thunder. Tonight, a battered and bruised Nature Boy will be in attendance. No doubt, he will address the mugging he received at the hands of Rick Steiner. Rick had originally been slated to be Flair’s mystery opponent for WCW Sin but turned out to be in cahoots with his brother. Not only is Flair’s body broken but his ego must be bruised. Tonight, Flair will most definitely have something in store for the evil trio.

Totally Buff questioned Wayne DeBruce’s credentials on Monday Nitro. They claimed he would be the weak link for the team. Wayne wants to prove his worth and he will have the chance this Thursday. As Debruce will go one on one with ‘Total Package’ Lex Luger. It is very clear that Luger has evil intentions for Wayne DeBruce. Will DeBruce be able to overcome all the odds and defeat this wrestling superstar???

Crowbar has constantly been interfering in Funk’s matches to ensure he still has the title at Sin. It is Crowbar’s dream to pin his wrestling hero for the WCW Hardcore Title. This has left a very angry and dangerous Meng. Tonight, Meng will team up with his ally Kwee Wee to do battle with Terry Funk and Crowbar. Will Terry Funk and Crowbar be able to get along? Will Meng once again showcase his dominance in the Hardcore division?

Lance Storm laid out the challenge to Konnan on Nitro. Tonight, these two rising superstar will do battle. Their two factions have been running into each other lately and tonight could be the climax. Will the other members be far behind? It should be an explosive encounter.

Be sure to join us to for an amazing episode of the hottest wrestling show on Thursday nights, Thunder!!! All the great wrestling action will come your way at 8:00pm on TBS!

  3. WCW Nitro

    01.01.01

    TNT

    Nashville, TN

Announcers: Tony Schiavone & Scott Hudson

The WCW ‘futuristic’ logo appears on the screen but suddenly, the logo begins to crumble. In it’s place, is a brand new WCW logo that resembles something that would have been cut out of granite.

VO: WCW – The Rise Back to Greatness Begins

A video package is played that show the key events that have proceeded WCW Starrcade. The main focus is the events that relate around the WCW Sin World Title match between Scott Steiner & Jeff Jarrett & The Mystery Man. The package closes with the end of Thunder where Steiner is being laid out by the Mystery Man backstage.

The screen cuts to inside the arena at Nashville, TN. The crowd is rabid for some exciting WCW action. Pyro and fireworks fill the entire arena as the camera pans the inside of the building. Several audience members can be seen decked out in WCW gear from such susperstars as Booker T, Sting, the Filthy Animals and Goldberg. A few of the signs that can be seen are ‘Wrong Channel’, ‘I’m Next’, ‘Natural Bored Shillas’, ‘Stacey, The Baby Is Mine’ and ‘Bring Back Torrie.’

Tony Schiavone: Happy New Year, wrestling fans!!! Welcome to the very first edition of WCW Nitro of 2001! It is an absolutely jam packed episode and is guaranteed to be an unforgettable evening of great wrestling action.

Scott Hudson: There are a lot of combustible elements in play this evening. Scott Steiner is raging mad over this mystery opponent set for WCW Sin. Who knows what damage he will cause here tonight.

TS: Plus Totally Buff is here and I’m sure they have plans to meddle with Goldberg and Wayne DeBruce. As you know, they will not want Goldberg at 100% for that big tag match for Sin.

Scott Hudson: Tonight, we’ve got some huge matches set such as Natural Born Thriller, Sean O’Haire, going one on one with DDP. Though with the Thrillers it’s never going to be totally one-on-one.

TS: We’ve got a huge hardcore 3 way dance between Terry Funk, the monster Meng and Bam Bam Bigelow. But right now, we’ve got a big cruiserweight tag team war.

Chavo Guerrero & Corporal Cajun v. 3 Count (Shane Helms & Shannon Moore)

3 Count come out to their annoying pop song and make sure to taunt the crowd on their way to the ring. Chavo & Cajun both enter to Chavo’s theme music rather then the MIA theme. Cajun plays up huge to the crowd but Chavo seems interested in admiring his title belt or taunting Shane Helms. Once the bell rings, Helms is intent on starting with Chavo but Guerrero doesn’t seem so eager thus retreats to his corner. A bewildered and shocked Cajun starts off for his team against Helms. The two break out the chain wrestling and go hold for hold against each other. Helms finally slips behind Cajun and delivers a huge German suplex that has Cajun landing on his head. Helms takes advantage of this by dropping several elbows and knees. Helms and Shannon begin to work as a team and wear down Cajun with many double team moves. All the while, Chavo seems very intent on enjoying sitting on the outside of the ring. Eventually, 3 Count makes a tactical error when Helms scales the ropes and tries to hit Cajun with a frog splash but gets mat instead. Cajun rolls to his corner and barely makes the tag before Shannon can stop him. Chavo enters the ring and does his dutiful job as the face on fire and drops both 3 Count members with drop kicks and clotheslines. But eventually, Chavo is cut short in his offence when Helms is able to drop him with a neck breaker. 3 Count returns to their regularly scheduled double team beating. 3 Count plays the good heels as they antagonize Cajun at inopportune times in order to do some illegal beatings. Eventually, both members of 3 Count drop their head in anticipation of a back drop but the wily Chavo is ready with a double DDT. Chavo tries to valiantly fight off both member of 3 Count but the number game seems to be too much until Cajun soars into the ring. Cajun starts to brawl with Moore and thus the referee gets distracted while trying to send both back to their corners. Helms, meanwhile, is taking apart Chavo with his high impact offence like the Sugar Smack and Nightmare on Helms Street. Helms is sensing victory and scales the top rope to finish off the champion. The champion, though, was able to sneak in his championship belt during all this and introduces said belt to the head of Helms as he comes off the top rope. The dastardly Chavo covers the fallen Helm and it just happens an awaiting ref is there. Chavo slinks out of the ring with his belt along with an unknowing Cajun. Moore, meanwhile, seems pretty upset that Helms allowed the team to get defeated. Helms on the other hand doesn’t seem to think much as he is unconscious.

    Winner: Chavo & Cajun

    72/63/81

TS: Chavo just stole that victory from Shane Helms.

SH: One must wonder what has been going on in that head of Chavo’s lately. He outright broke the rules in this one.

TS: Well, fans we are going to be taking a quick commercial break but be sure to come back for more awesome action.

Commercials – Konnan shills Pepsi clear, Arnold Schwarzenegger is in a new explosion film & it appears WCW has a game coming out thanks to THQ

TS: Welcome back fans and . . . what the?

    Now It’s Personal

The ‘what the’ is referring to a beaten and battered David Flair stumbling out from the back of the arena. Shortly after, Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and Midajah follow into the arena. Steiner heaves poor David up by one arm and drags him into the ring.

TS: What is the meaning of this assault?!?

SH: I think, it is clear what the meaning is Tony. The man has gone bonkers!

Steiner lays in several forearms into the chest of David. Steiner lift David and heaves him across the ring with a brutal belly to belly release suplex. David is then brought back to his feet and has Steiner’s arms wrap around his throat as a Dragon Sleeper is applied.

Scot Steiner: I’ll break this kid’s G[bleep]mn neck in a second. His life and his career will be all over. He will have bigger problems then finding out who knocked up his bimbo. Heck, I’ll knock her up and let her know what ecstasy is really all about. But I’m not here for pleasure. I’m here for answers. [steiner tightens his grip around David neck]. Dick Flair, if you care anything about this piece of trash then you’ll step out right now. We will talk. You either can have a funeral to attend this weekend or some G[bleep]mn wrestling meet with that other rodent. Flair!?! Get out here!

Ric Flair does come out and without any music or fanfare. He comes out with much worry written all over his face.

Ric Flair: Steiner, you’ve gone too far. Drop the boy. This is between me and you, pal. You’ve crossed the line of this business. You want to hurt somebody then try me. Leave my son David out of this. You let him go and I’ll talk. Deal?

SS: I do want to hurt somebody, Flair. I want to hurt you. I haven’t decided if it will be emotionally or physically yet. I’m not dropping your boy. I’m keeping him right here. I’ll break his neck if you don’t give me the answers I’m looking for.

Ric Flair: D[bleep]t Steiner! What do you want? That’s my son, there. Tell me what it is that you want?!?

SS: I want your retired, old, wrinkly ass in the ring. I want to break your neck. I want to stop all your mind games with me. Flair, I know you hate me and you don’t want me to be champion. That is fine, because I hate you and don’t want you see you big nose on this show again. You don’t have the guts to admit that you don’t like me. You don’t want me to be champion. You say these are tests to make me a better champ. Well, I’m testing to see how strong your kid’s neck is.

RF: Steiner, leave David alone. Please. These past weeks have nothing to do with him. You’re making this personal. You’re hitting family now.

SS: I’ll keep on doing it Flair. Give me what I want.

RF: I can’t fight you. I’m retired. I am a CEO of a major company. I am not allowed to step in that ring. Please, let my son go.

SS: Flair, you’ve toyed with me for weeks and weeks. Now, you’re crying like a little shrivelled up baby. Can’t take the heat Flair? Neither can your son because he’s been whining and crying all night. Flair, it’s my turn to be in charge. It’s my turn to call the shots. Tonight, you’re going to bring in that white ghost. That coward that attacks me from behind. You’re going to bring that mystery man in. You will make sure that it unmasks tonight. Right here, tonight. If you don’t then David ain’t seeing his next birthday. And his skank will then have a chance to be my freak.

RF: Fine! Let go of David right now and I’ll go get the guy. I’ll have him unmask right here tonight. He isn’t here yet, Steiner. I need to arrange for his arrival. I’ll do it. I give you my word.

SS: You’re word isn’t worth s[bleep] to me, Flair. [steiner then drops David with a reverse ddt] I’ll let your son go. I’ll then unleash all my rage on your masked man tonight. I want him in the ring, Flair. I want to fight him one on one. I want to show him why I am the Genetic Freak. I’ll make sure he doesn’t make it to Sin.

RF: Security, grab my son right there. [staff member drag the battered David from the ring]. You’ve got a deal. You get the mystery man tonight. You can wrestle him. You can do whatever you want. Right now, Steiner, all I care about is my boy. You see, you’ve crossed a line, pal. You went too far tonight. You didn’t act like a very becoming champion. You acted like a lunatic. It’s not right. Tonight, you’ve got your match but you’ve got a Special Referee in that match. Plus, your title is on the line.

SS: You stupid bastard, whose the ref?

RF: You want to know who the ref, is? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! The ref, [pause for effect] is by God, the 16 time world heavyweight champion himself! It’s the Nature Boy. And he is pissed off!!!!

SS: Bring it, Flair. I’ll kick your ass too.

RF: No, no, no. You touch me Steiner and I strip you of the title. Jarrett touches me and I strip you. If Midajah looks at me funny then I strip you. Tonight, this is personal. This went too far. You’re going to pay tonight.

SS: Flair, you ain’t scaring me. You ain’t doing nothing. I’m leaving this trailer trash town with my title. I’m leaving with a few more freaks. I’m going to make them go ‘oh oh oh nothing so fine as the genetic freak and the man with the peaks. . .

RF: Shut up! I’m not done. Next week, I’ve got a match for you. You’ve got some unsettled business with someone here in WCW. Someone who definitely wants you in the ring. Now, I can’t make it a title match. I want to but circumstances don’t allow me to. But next week, Steiner, You’re NEXT!!!! (crowd explodes as they realize who the opponent is] Non-title. You and Goldberg. Right here.

SS: I’m not scared, Flair. I beat him already. I will beat him again. But tonight, I am going to beat your designated clown all over town.

RF: We will see. Oh Steiner, we will see. You are going to pay. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Flair’s theme music plays as he begins to strut to the back. Steiner is seen in the ring consulting with Jarrett about something. Steiner doesn’t seem too happy about things at the moment.

84% - David gained 1 point of overness (appears the crowd felt sympathy for him)

Commercials – Konnan keeps shilling the Pepsi, Arnold keeps doing movies and the latest SI Swimsuit Edition is hyped

TS: Wow, fans what an altercation that was. We apologize for the graphic nature of what we just saw. Steiner went too far.

SH: But what an announcement, Tony. Next week we’ve got Steiner v. Goldberg. Tonight, we’ve got a title match between the mystery man and Steiner with Ric Flair as the referee.

TS: Oh my, this could be the biggest Nitro of all time!!!

    WCW Hardcore Title Match

    Terry Funk © v. Meng(w/Paisley) v. Bam Bam Bigelow

Total garbage match goes on here, as Terry Funk brings a cart full of plunder with him to the ring. Paisley sits down with the announcers and stresses that she feels that Meng should be the champion as he almost had Funk beat last week. The announcers remind her that Meng could make good on being the champion tonight. Funk gets tossed around the ring by the two big giants for the majority of the match. Occasionally, Funk would lay into one of the big guys with a stop sign or a chair but it will get no sold by them. Eventually, Funk gets tossed from the ring and the monsters go at it with each other. They lay into each other with some fairly stiff shots but not enough to wake up the crowd. During the chaos, Meng is able to apply the Tongan Death Grip on Bam Bam and the Beast from the East starts to fade. Suddenly, Crowbar is seen on the top tope and he leap with a wrench in hand planting into the shoulder blades of Meng. Meng release the hold and is cactus clotheslined out of the ring. This allows for Funk to drag himself back into the ring and drap his arm over the fallen and unconscious Bigelow. Much to Paisley’s dismay, Terry Funk has retained the WCW Hardcore championship. Funk slowly gets to his feet and notices that Crowbar is in the area. An expression of frustration. crosses the face of the hardcore legend but he eventually raises up his championship and playfully points to it in front of Crowbar. During this, Paisley grabs a house mic.

Paisley: Crowbar, you seem to not be able to stay out of my monster Meng’s business. You really seem attached to Terry Funk. I know you too have a big match coming up at Sin. I challenge you both to a tag team match for this Thursday on Thunder. Crowbar and Funk against my men Meng and Kwee Wee. I promise you both that Meng will be making an example out of you and you’ll have no choice but to give him another deserved title shot.

    Winner: Terry Funk

57/59/55 – WCW Hardcore title has gained in image

TS: Oh my, what a big match up for this Thursday. Will Funk and Crowbar accept such a challenge?

SH: We know that Crowbar respects and looks up to Terry Funk. But how will their upcoming match affect their mindset for teaming with each other? It should be exciting.

TS: Well, fans right after this commercial break we will a great matchup between Big Vito and the #1 Contender to the US title, Shane Douglas.

Commercials - somehow an ad about female products found it’s way on a manly show, a new fighting game for PS2 gets hyped and another generic action flick

    Big Vito v. Shane Douglas

Before the match, Shane Douglas gets on the house mic and reminds the fans he pinned ‘their’ US Champion the last time they met in the ring. He also left Rection a bloody mess after an assist with his good friend which he then raises his chain. He then demands Rection to stand up and be a man by granting him a rematch for the title. What follows is an angry Shane Douglas trying to tear apart the rough Italian, Big Vito. Vito has a lot of fight and is able to stay toe to toe with Shane. He even is able to send Doulgas scattering for the outside of the ring. Vito doesn’t let up and takes the fight to the outside but that is where Shane is able to gain control by ramming Vito into a ringpost. Shane continues the beating inside the ring with stomping and pounding. Douglas tries to wear down Vito with a sleeper but that only ends up being Vito’s chance to start a comeback. Vito plants several elbows into the stomach of Douglas until the hold is completely broken. Vito mounts a big comeback by delivering such moves as a shouldertackle, superkick, neckbreaker and powerslam. Once Vito decides to bounce off the ropes things take a turn for the worse as he gets tripped on the outside by the meddling Reno. The ref admonishes Reno for having no right being at ringside but this only give Shane a chance to retrieve his chain and knock out Vito with a big blow. The ref turns around to find Shane delivering the Pittsburgh Plunge and getting the easy three count. Reno enters the ring and delivers several solid kicks to Vito. Reno then lifts up Vito and deliver a roll of the dice. Reno trash talks right to the face of Vito and makes it clear that he wants a match against him at Sin. Reno yells the beating will end once he finishes Vito off once and for all at the PPV. Vito is left in the ring to be cared for by paramedics.

    Another Match Made For Thunder

Mean Gene: It’s the shank of the evening, fans. Right now, it is my distinct pleasure to interview these two big wrestling stars. One of them is the trainer of many of the greats here in WCW and the other is best known simply as da man. Give it up ladies and gentlemen for Wayne DeBruce and Goldberg!!!

The very familiar musice blares over the loudspeakers. Out from the back walks WCW’s Phenom and his mentor. The pyros get lighted off and Goldberg just stand in the middle basking in it’s heat. Eventually both men end up in the ring and are ready for the interview.

MG: Goldberg. Wayne. Welcome to WCW Nitro. Let’s get right down to business, as you know by now that a huge match has been signed for next Monday. It will be non-title but it is a chance to settle the score with an old enemy. It’s you, Bill, against the WCW World Champion Scott Steiner.

Goldberg: As you know Gene and as all these great fans know, everything I do in this sport if for these people [points out to the audience]. But next week, this one is for a little more selfish reasons. This one is to lay a long term issue to rest. This is about me and Steiner. Steiner, has said a lot of things about me. He has tried to ruin a lot of great legacies and careers. He won’t ruin me. Next week, is my chance for revenge. Next week. . . Steiner’s ass is NEXT!!!! [a big pop from the crowd]

MG: Another big issue would be the upcoming huge tag team match. Now trusting that you beat Steiner and continue your streak, you will be competing with you mentor against a team that has been a big pain in your side, Totally Buff. What is your strategy going into this huge match where if Wayne DeBruce is pinned then you still will be fired?

    Goldberg: I know a lot is at. . .

The theme of Totally Buff blares over the loundspeakers. Buff comes dancing out like a fool and Luger slowly struts while striking poses.

Lex Luger: Goldberg, as much as I hate you, I’m actually hoping you can get past the genetic freak, Scott Steiner. Me and Buff want to be the reason your career here at WCW is finished. We want to go down in history as the men that rid the sport of the mighty phenom, Goldberg. Well Billy, you better not look past Big Poppa Pump. He has beat you before. If somehow luck is on your side, you’ll leave one ass whipping to join in on another. On January 14th, 2001 it will be your last ever match in WCW. Me and Buff will go down in history as the men that set Goldberg wimpering with his tail between his legs from this sport.

Buff Bagwell: HAHAHA!!! You’re nothing Goldberg! We will prove you for the fraud you are at Sin. Buff Daddy and the Package are going to rule this sport now. You’re old news, baby. HAHAHAHA!!!

Goldberg: I could beat both you punks by myself. I wouldn’t even sweat destroying your asses.

LL: But the thing is, it’s not by yourself Goldy. It’s with a partner. It’s with the weak link. It’s with a washed up never was. A former member of the State Patrol. Didn’t you job to the Ding Dongs once?

Goldberg: Listen. . . [Wayne puts his hand up to Goldberg’s mouth]

WD: I can handle this, Bill. Luger, I was kicking butts before you even knew what a wristlock was. Then again, I don’t know you even know what one is now. Both you two are nothing more then bullies. You think you are a gift to this sport. To me, you are nothing. I may not have won any world titles. I may have not headlined any PPVs. I’ve bred champions. I’ve made headliners. I’ve given more to this sport then you’ll ever be able to grasp. Luger, I want you to think I am the weak link. Because it means you won’t take me seriously. That is the last mistake you’ll ever make.

BB: I think, I hear a challenge? Don’t you, Lex?

LL: I know it’s a challenge. So, Buddy Lee Parker. . . oops, I mean Leprechaun. . no wait. . . Jack Boot. . . no no. . . it’s Wayne. How you going to prove to me that you can contribute? How can you prove to me that you actually even deserve to be standing in that ring rather then teaching some hacks down in Georgia how to apply an arm drag?

G: For you information, Lexxy, we’ve got a tag match tonight. You’ll see DeBruce in action later.

LL: No, no, no. You can do all the work in that match. I want to see DeBruce in singles action. I want see him in some competition.

BB: Hey, I got an idea, Package. [buff whispers into Lex’s ear.]

LL: Debruce, I challenge you to a one on one match for this coming Thunder. You and me and nobody else. Let’s see if you can hang.

    G: He doesn’t have to. . .

WD: It’s on! Lex, you’re next!!!!

BB: Right in the trap, baby. Goldberg, you might get your wish to fight all by yourself afterall.

    LL: Seeya Thursday, Wayne.

The music of Totally Buff starts up and the cocky tandem strut to the back. Meanwhile, Goldberg shows concern while talking to Wayne.

61% - Goldberg lost 3 points of overness as letting DeBruce dictate the conversation caused the fans to not see him as the leader of the group

Buff Bagwell lost 2 points of overness because he seemed more like Luger’s lackey

TS: Oh my, another huge match for Thunder!!! But was it a mistake of Wayne to take the match so close to Sin?

SH: Both guys have really big matches coming up in the next week. Hopefully, it doesn’t cause them to lose focus before their big contest at Sin!

Commercial – An ad for Home Alone 3 on TNT right after Nitro!!!!, Konnan shills again and an ad for a new Goldberg T-Shirt (hmmmm)

Mike Awesome (w/Lance Storm & Major Gunns) v. Crowbar (w/Daffney)

Before the match begins, Crowbar asks Awesome how he can turn his back on all those who cared for him. Awesome responded by kicking Crowbar in the gut. Awesome levels Crowbar with some huge forearms and knee lifts. Crowbar gets tossed all over the ring by Awesome’s big man repertoire. Awesome does a particularly big move by hip tossing Crowbar right over the top rope and onto the hard arena floor. Crowbar is able to get back on the apron and ram his shoulder into the chest of Awesome which allows Crowbar to enter via a sunset flip. The power of Awesome is shown not by Awesome merely kicking out but rather lifting Crowbar in the air and dropping him on his upper back. Awesome leaps to the top rope and tries to crush Crowbar with a flying elbow but instead only meet the unfriendly mat. Crowbar then uses his speed and agility to his advantage to overwhelm Awesome. A powerful superkick that lands on Awesome’s chin score Crowbar a close 2 count. Crowbar immediately hit a bulldog on Awesome once the man tried to get back up. Crowbar senses victory as he goes up top but so does Lance Storm who tries to distract Crowbar. Crowbar does refocus on the match but the distraction gave Awesome enough time to gather his whereabouts. As Crowbar leaps in the air to hit Crowbar with a stage dive (Headbangers old finish), Awesome is able to catch him and hold him in place. Unfortunately for Crowbar, that puts him exactly in place for a running Awesome Bomb. This devastating move is enough to put Crowbar away for good. Daffney enters the ring to check on her man but Awesome decides this is a perfect time to intimidate the poor little psycho. As Awesome has Daffney cowered in the corner, Hasckaw Jim Duggan comes rushing down to ringside with his trusty two by four in hand. Awesome doesn’t catch Duggan in time but instead catches the two by four right across his back. Team Canada rushes away from the ring while Duggan checks on Crowbar.

Jim Duggan: I know, I said that I was done with WCW. I know, that I said that I didn’t think I deserved to be here. I’ve heard your fans cries of ‘USA’. I’ve seen this young man challenge Awesome for the sake of defending my honour. I will not stand by and see Team Canada disrespect my country. I will not let men like Crowbar be the ones to defend my honour. I’m back. Awesome,I’m after you, tough guy. HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

    Winner: Mike Awesome

    66/60/72

TS: Can you believe it, the old Duggan is back.

SH: The one we all remember and love.

TS: I think, Awesome may be in lots of trouble. Hold it fans, it appears something is happening backstage. Let’s go cut to there.

The Thunder Matches Keep On Coming

Konnan is seen in the back hitting on Pamela Paulshock. Team Canada is seen walking past them after being run off by Duggan. Konnan smiles at the group.

Konnan: Nice display out there. Definitely really proved the power of Canadians. I like the part where you ran away from a 45 year old semi-retired wrestler.

Storm stops in his tracks and walks over to Konnan. Awesome follows but Storm signals him to move on.

Lance Storm: You must think you’re hot stuff. With your recent victories over my men. The little itty bitty win streak that you have going, right now. Who was it that held three of WCW’s championships at the same time? Oh yeah, that was me. Who was it that made your pal Rey Rey tap like a little baby a few weeks ago? Right, me again. What is your group called. Filthy Animals? That describes America just perfectly. You are Animals. You are filthy. You are below the superior Canadians. Definitely below me because I’m from Calgary. Alber. . .

Konnan: Yeah, yeah. You’re from somewhere nobody cares about. Listen pal. You can slobber all over my face all day and blow hot air up my ass or you can show your stuff in the ring. If you are so above me then prove it. I beat your man Skippy last week. I’ll beat you this week. I don’t sweat it. Let’s do this.

LS: It’s a deal. I’ll see you in the ring this Thursday. It’ll be you who is tapping this week. I am Canadian made. I am Canadian proud. I’ll Canadian rule you.

Lance Storm seems to feel he proved his point and leaves Konnan. Konnan just laughs it off and brings his attention back to Paula.

    Sean O’Haire (w/Mike Sanders) v. DDP

Announcers hype this as a big time match up. They really put over O’Haire as the future of WCW. They mention that a win here over DDP would be huge and skyrocket the career of this future superstar. Despite all that talk, it is DDP that dominates the early bits of this contest. DDP uses high impact moves such as the flapjack, discus powerbomb and second rope lariat but can’t keep O’Haire down. DDP attempts to take O’Haire down with a cross body but Sean is able to catch DDP in mid air and drop Page with a fall away slam. At this point, O’Haire resorts to his combination of high powered offence using moves like the spinebuster, poweslam, Samoan drop and sit-out powerbomb. Page is a gutsy competitor and doesn’t fall down to any of the moves despite noticeably losing a few steps. O’Haire decides to stick to one body part and begins to centre his attack on the ribs of Page. O’Haire throws Page into a corner and buries his shoulder into Page several times. Once that gets repetitive, O’Haire lays in several forearms into the weakened rib area. The crowd starts to rally around Page while O’Haire and Sanders taunt the crowd. O’Haire decides this is an opportune time to apply a bearhug onto Page. The strong grip from the powerful youngster quickly saps the life from Page but the crowd support keeps Page from passing out. Page begins to land shots on O’Haire in an attempt to break the hold. Finally, Page resorts to digging his thumb into the eye of O’Haire and the move immediately causes the Thriller to release his hold. Page then lets out a big discus lariat to drop the youngster. Sensing some momentum, Page runs off the ropes but unfortunately is met with a big shoulder tackle from O’Haire. This move causes significant damage to the ribs of Page and causes Page to grimace in pain. O’Haire lets out an evil cackle and bring Page back to his feet. In a massive show of strength, O;Haire presses Page in the air for all to see. Except O’Haire holds him there too long and allows Page to float behind O’Haire and once O’Haire turns around he is greeted with a Diamond Cutter. Both men lay on the mat battered but Page has enough sense to roll on top of O’Haire. 1…..2….3!!!! No wait, O’Haire happens to have his foot on the ropes. It just so happens that Mike Sanders is right there on the outside to point this out. DDP is livid and claims that Sanders put the foot there. Page lifts O’Haire up for another attempt at the Diamond Cutter but O’Haire has regained strength thus reverves the move into a reverse ddt. O’Haire then lifts up Page again and plants him with a variation of a death valley driver. The agile O’Haire leaps onto the top rope, poses for all to see and then flies onto Page hitting his Seanton Bomb. The cocky youngster covers the veteran and scores the inevitable 3 count in an arguably clean victory. The announcers rave about this being a really huge victory. The celebration is soon to be joined by the other Thrillers as they congratulate O’Haire on his win. To celebrate fully, they all begin to lay the boots onto Page. Soon the theme from the Wolfpac plays and Kevin Nash makes his way to the ring to assist Page. Unfortunately, he is one and the Thrillers are 6 thus overpower Nash. The Insiders are pummelled to the ground by the sixsome of terror. Once the group is happy with their evildoing, they raise their hands in the air basking in the boos of the crowd.

    Winner: Sean O'Haire

TS: What a deplorable action by these six individuals.

Goldberg & Wayne Debruse v. Boogie Knights (Disco Inferno & Alex Wright)

Total and complete squash. Debruce doesn’t even get tagged into the match. Goldberg destroys both members and then pins both after a Jackhammer. This apparently counts as 2 victories for Goldberg and puts him at 38 wins. Only other notable event, Wright and Disco argued about who should start the match. During the match, Disco pushed Wright into the spear in order to avoid it himself despite right after being speared himself.

    Winners: Goldberg & Wayne Debruce

TS: Goldberg is awesome! By golly, he clobbered those two goofs.

SH: But we really didn’t see what DeBruce has to offer as a partner. Could Totallly Buff be correct?

    This Means War

The theme music of MIA blares over the loudspeakers as the leader of the faction, General Rection comes out from the back. He stands on the rampway and surveys the arena. He then produces a house mic and addresses the crowd.

General Rection: The last time I was on WCW Programming, Shane Douglas pinned me in the middle of the ring. He also busted me open with a chain. For the last month, Shane has been a major nuisance to the MIA and myself. I’ll admit that the MIA is falling on some hard times. We do have some business to take care of on our end. We will be doing that. We will be stronger then ever. Before I can truly fix things in house, I need to take care of my own battles. And Douglas, you are my battle. When you busted me open with that chain, you officially turned this thing into war! Tonight Douglas, I am declaring war on your ass. On January 14th, at WCW Sin, I challenge you to a match for the WCW US Title. But not just any match. You busted me open and made me bleed all over the ring. I plan to do the same thing to you. I want your blood on my hands! I challenge you to a First Blood Match, in order to settle this things once and for all. You will pay for your sins. After January 14th, you will be nothing more then a memory!!!

The announcers hype up the upcoming Mystery Man v. Steiner match with Ric Flair as special guest ref. Both announcers try to speculate who it could possibly be that is behind the mask. Steiner comes out with Jarrett & Midajah by his side while all three get a shower of jeers. The Masked Men then comes out to generic rock music and gets a decent anticipation pop as he must unmask tonight. Finally, Ric Flair comes out in a ref uniform and gets a monstrous pop from the fans as he power walks to the ring and it’s obvious Flair isn’t in a fun loving mood after what happened to his son. In the ring, Steiner gives a big stare down to the man of mystery. The two go right up to each others faces and begin to trash talk each other. Steiner then gives out a big push to the man and he pushes back at Steiner. Both begin to lift their fists in anticipation of knocking the other out. Swerve! The Mystery Man decks Flair across the face. The stunned Flair wobbles into the ropes and then bouces back right into a hard clothesline. The man gives Flair a variation of a tazzplex and has Flair land on his head. The fans are fiercely booing the man now. Steiner begins to laugh and Jarret gets in the ring to laugh it up too. Finally, the three embrace each other in the ring. Then the masked man stares at the camera and pulls off his mask to reveal none other then Scott Steiner’s brother, Rick Steiner. The three continue to laugh and joke in the ring until the show fades to the WCW logo.

  4. Turner Gives WCW One Last Chance

    12.27.00

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

In admist the rumours that WWF wants to buy WCW, Ted Turner addressed the front office of WCW. He mentioned how he has been supporting the brand since he bought it back in 1988. He wants to keep the brand on his networks and in his conglomerate for many more years. He noted that he has been getting very strong pressure to sell the company off and to cut all it's losses. Turner said that this isn't something that he wants to do and he definitely doesn't want to sell off to the WWF. The problem is, this is exactly what Turner's executives and shareholders want him to do. Now that he is a part of Time Warner/AOL, he doesn't have the same pull as he once had. He did tell the WCW office that he has been able to arrange for a stay of execution. He has been told by Time Warner that WCW has 3 months to turn things around. WCW will need to turn a profit by that time or WCW will be sold off to the highest bidder.

This could be seen as good news and bad news. Good news, in that WCW isn't going to be sold immediately. Bad news, not many people think that WCW has much of a chance to fix things up in such a short period. Will this be the end of the Big 2 of wrestling??? Apparently, WCW is already looking into where they can cut costs. At the same time, they are trying to see where they can improve the product. At this time, it appears that Terry Taylor, Ed Ferrera and Bill Banks are going to be the main creative forces behind the company. Taylor will also be in charge of some of the more day to day procedures. The rumours that Eric Bischoff will be coming to the company seem to be false. Turner stated that Bischoff had his chance to turn things around and it's time for someone new to be in charge. Word is that Taylor, is only planned to be a temporary leader for the company.

    Worldwide Cancelled Immediately

    12.28.00

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

In WCWs first step in cutting costs, the syndicated program WCW Worldwide has been cancelled. From this point on, there will be no first run programming for that show. The reasoning was that putting together television can be expensive and Worldwide didn't garner the rating to justify continually producing it. Besides, it will allow creative to fully focus on the two main programs which is where the company is getting pressure to succeed. No word, on what will happen to the talent that usually was only showcased on Worldwide.

    Terry Taylor Speaks

    12.30.00

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

Terry Taylor, new head of WCW, spoke on SlamTalk internet radio last night. He addressed the major meeting that Turner had with all WCW office staff. He mentioned how the pressure is on to succeeed, and WCW is expected to be making money and garnering higher ratings within the next 3 months. The hard part is, WCW is also expected to be cutting their costs substantially. Taylor recognized that many of the WCW talent probably have very bloated salaries and they are spending an excessive amount on contracts. He noted that he also doesn't think cutting the talent is going to be help the company. He mentioned that this next month will be a chance for all the wrestlers to step up and to contribute to the product. The WCW wrestlers realize their jobs are on the line here and it's their chance to really prove themselves. Taylor did not deny that their will be some roster cuts in the future.

Taylor also mentioned that he feels it's ridiculous that so much of the WCW talent is currently on the sidelines when the company needs them to be out entertaining the fans. He isn't sure why so many are inactive at this point. He promised that stars like Sting, Booker T and Chris Kanyon will be back on television in the very near future.

Taylor mentioned that he is also looking into having a long term plan for creative. Many of the current stories are going to be revamped. The fans should expect some big twists in the coming weeks. The current direction that is seen on television will probably not be the same one the fans will be seeing in a couple weeks. Though Taylor promised that he isn't going to do a giant 'reset' like WCW did last April. Instead, the major changes will happen more gradually and subtely on television. It is his hope it will all make sense to the fans. Taylor also noted that WCW will be WCW and not a WWF-lite. Wrestling will be a major focus of the company. He also noted that it's time to try to make the cruiserweight division mean something again.

In a very bold move, Taylor noted that both Nitro and Thunder will be moved in order to directly compete with WWF again. Turner wants results and Taylor felt the best way to show results was directly compete with the competition. WCW Thunder will be moved back to Thursday nights. WCW Nitro will be starting at 9:00pm right when Raw starts. It'll interesting to see how this affects WCW and their attempt to get back on track.

No word if the current WCW Sin PPV line-up will be edited or changed at this point.

    WCW Q'N'D Results

    12.31.00

    credit: www.mickswrestlingsite.com

Huh, I just realized that I never posted results for WCW Starrcade or the proceeding Nitro and Thunder. Shows how much I've been following that company, eh? Anyway, here is a very quick and dirty run down of the past 3 shows. They actually weren't too bad but I hope Taylor starts improving things quick.

    Starrcade

3 Count(Shane Helms & Shannon Moore) beat Yung Dragons(Kaz Hayashi & Yang) & Jamie Knoble/Evan Karagious in a Triple Ladder match for #1 contendership for the WCW Cruiserweight title. Now, both Helms and Moore are the #1 contenders.

Lance Storm beats The Cat after Duggan interferes on Storm's behalf. Before the match, Storm had told Duggan that Team Canada was his future. After the match, both Skipper and Storm double team Duggan until Cat clears the ring.

Backstage, the Thrillers try to convince Reno to leave Vito and return to the Thrillers.

Terry Funk beats Crowbar to win the WCW Harcore title.

Kronik (Bryan Clarke & Brian Adams) beat Big Vito & Reno after Reno turned on Vito. Reno later revealed that he was the person who had hired Kronik to attack Vito.

'That 70s Guy' Mike Awesome beat Bam Bam Bigelow in an ambulance match after Awesome powerbombed Bam Bam through the ambulance roof.

In an interview, Reno reveals he is now with the Thrillers and this is his real family.

In a bunkhouse stampede match, Jeff Jarrett/Harris Brothers beats Filthy Animals (Konnan, Billy Kidman, Rey Misterio Jr) when Jarret pinned Kidman after the stroke.

The Insiders (Kevin Nash & DDP) defeat The Perfect Event (Shawn Stasiak & Chuck Palumbo) to regain the WCW World Tag Team championship.

Goldberg defeated Lex Luger in order to keep his streak alive and thus keep his job in WCW. After the match, Buff Bagwell attacked Goldberg. Luger and Bagwell double teamed Goldberg until Wayne DeBruce came from the back to rescue him.

Scott Steiner retained the WCW World Title against Sid Vicious after Vicious passed out to the Steiner Recliner. Steiner beat Sid down with the lead pipe after the match.

    WCW Nitro

Flair kicks off the show by stating that he will reveal Steiner's oppenant, for Sin, tonight

In a #1 Contenders match for the WCW Cruiserweight title, Shane Helms defeated Shannon Moore. After the match, Chavo ran in and attacked both 3 Count members.

Backstage, Gen. Rection uses Chavo's attack as proof that he 'is no good'. Lash Laroux doesn't seem to agree.

Steiner demands that Flair tell him who is oppenant is. Flair mentions that there will be a mini-tournament for the number one contender tonight. Also, there will be a third oppenant and he will be a mystery competitor.

Lex Luger & Buff Bagwell reveal themselves as Totally Buff.

Terry Funk beats Meng after Crowbar attacks Meng with a wrench. Crowbar then challenges Funk to a rematch for Sin.

Steiner freaks out at Jarrett and wants to know who the mystery oppenant is. Jarrett claims to know nothing.

Big Vito declares revenge on the Natural Born Thrillers.

Crowbar & Daffney tell Mike Awesome that he needs to drop the 70s gimmick and become the Awesome with a killer instinct. Mentions how returning to his roots has helped out Crowbar.

Lance Storm defeated Rey Misterio in the first round of the #1 contenders tourney.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Mike Awesome in a #1 contenders tourney match after he hit Awesome with a guitar.

Steiner confronts Jarrett about lying to him about not knowing anything about #1 contenders. Jarrett convinces Steiner that he is in the tournament to protect Steiner's title reign.

A Glacier promo airs and Norman Smiley gets really excited while watching it.

Shane Douglas challenges MIA to a match on Thunder against himself and Kronik.

Flair is on the phone making sure his mystery opppenant is ready.

Mike Awesome throws a fit in front of the Filthy Animals over his loss to Jarrett.

    The Cat defeats Alex Wright

Steiner attacks Elix Skipper, Evan Karagious, Jamie Knoble and the Yung Dragons.

Thrillers demand a rematch against the Insiders. Ric Flair forces them to enter a tag team battle royal for number 1 contendership on Thunder, instead.

Goldberg beats Buff Bagwell by DQ after Luger interferes. Wayne DeBruce then helps Goldberg fight Totally Buff off.

Jeff Jarrett beat Lance Storm to earn the #1 contendership. After the match, Steiner comes out and demands Flair to let him know who the other oppenant is. Flair doesn't show and thus Steiner goes backstage. Steiner attacks Jimmy Hart and demands Hart to tell him who is oppenant is. All of a sudden, Steiner is attacked by a masked man who is wearing a body suit. He sort of looks like the Michelin man. Ugh.

    Thunder

Chavo warns Helms that if Chavo can't beat Knoble then Helms won't be the #1 contender anymore. I don't get it?

Chavo Guerrero pinned Jamie Knoble after the brain buster. Helms then comers out to taunt Chavo.

Crowbar thanks Daffney for returning him back to the old Crowbar. He then challenges Bam Bam to a match tonight in order to prep for Terry Funk.

The Cat asks Flair to give him a match against Steiner tonight.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan apologizes for turning his back on America. He asks the fans to please forigve him for what he did. Duggan then announces he will be leaving WCW because he doesn't deserve to be here anymore.

Awesome stops Duggan in the parking lot and asks him to stay tonight.

General Rection forgives Duggan and thanks him for owing up to his mistakes.

Natural Born Thrillers with a #1 contenders tag team battle royal against Yung Dragons, 3 Count, Filthy Animals (Kidman & Rey), Harris Boys, Meng/Kwee Wee & Evan Karagious/Jamie Knoble. The battle royal came down to Perfect Event and O'Haire & Jindrak but they refused to eliminate each other. Mike Sanders, also the WCW commisioner, declared that both teams have won the battle royal. At Sin, they can now choose whatever combo they want to fight the Insiders.

Konnan defeats Elix Skipper after Skipper taps out to the Tequila Sunrise.

A-Wall & Cajun confront Rection on why he forgave Duggan but not Chavo. Rection claims that Chavo isn't sorry for his actions. A-Wall and Cajun don't seem to buy it.

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Crowbar after Meng attacks Crowbar.

Norman Smiley gets excited over another Glacier promo.

Goldberg squashes Norman Smiley. After the match, Totally Buff challenge Goldberg and DeBruce to a tag match at Sin with the stipulation that if Totally Buff pin either team member then Goldberg is fired. Goldberg declares that they are both next.

Shane Douglas & Kronik defeat MIA after Douglas pins Rection from a chair shot. After the match, Douglas busts open Rection with a chain.

Rection delcares he isn't playing anymore games and he is after the Franchise.

Lance Storm calls out Duggan and calls him a disgrace. He says the only right move he made was deiciding to walk away from WCW. Duggan comes to confront Lance Storm. Duggan is battling both Skipper and Lance Storm but then Awesome comes out to help out. BUT Awesome then turns on Duggan and rips off his leisure suit to reveal a Team Canada jersey. Duggan is then beat down by all 3 members of Team Canada.

Scott Steiner defeats The Cat with the Steiner Recliner. The myster oppenant comes out to taunt Steiner and Steiner then chases after the man.

Well, I told you it'd be quick and very dirty. I need a shower now

    WCW Opens Up A Developmental

    01.01.01

    credit: www.grapplefanatics.com

In an attempt to build to the future, WCW has opened up a developmental wrestling territory. It will be based out of Atlanta, GA. The goal is for it to be an off shoot for the Power Plant and a place where the younger guys can be seasoned up. The recent graduates of the Power Plant will be sent to this developmental league. The plan is that the Power Plant will develop the skill and this wrestling territory will get wrestlers used to working in front of fans. The territory will be called Power Pro Wrestling and will be booked by Arn Anderson.

At this time, the only known wrestlers in the territory are Christopher Daniels, Mike Modest, Bob Sapp and Hail. Though rumours are that WCW will be adding some news members in the next several days. My question is, with a company that is losing money by the hour, how are they able to afford to start up a new territory and pay the talent to compete there? Hmmm

    WCW Nitro Preview

    01.01.01

    credit: www.wcw.com

It's a new year. A new era for WCW. This Nitro will be the first of many very exciting installments that WCW will be bringing you this year. Tonight, is WCW's return to TNT after a 2 week hiatus. WCW CEO Ric Flair has an amazing show in store for all of WCW's fans.

Ric Flair has claimed that he isn't out to get Scott Steiner but rather, he is priming Steiner to be the future of WCW. Flair wants to shape Steiner into a World Champion that everyone can look up to and believe in. Steiner hasn't quite seen things that way. He feels that Flair is out to end his title reign by any means possible. His proof is that Flair is putting a mystery oppenant up against him at WCW Sin. Steiner desperately wants to know who this man is. The only clue is that this wrestler is apparently a big time player in the wrestling world. We also know he is big enough to take down Steiener as he has done that on two occasions. Will we find out Steiner's oppenant tonight? Will Steiner confront Flair? Will Steiner get his revenge against the mystery oppenant? Where does Jeff Jarrett fit in all this as he is the other #1 contender to the title?

Totally Buff is hell bent on ending the career of Goldberg. Ever since October, Goldberg has had to reinvent his amazing 176 win streak or get fired from WCW. Goldberg so far has been able to live up to the challenge with 36 straight wins but at WCW Sin, he must enter into a tag team match. If Goldberg loses even if he isn't pinned, he will be fired from WCW. Totally Buff definitely must have something up their sleeve to take out Goldberg before the big match. At the same time, Goldberg will be more then ready to face any challenge the two will want to throw at him. Don't forget, Goldberg's mentor Wayne DeBruce will also be watching the man's back. It should be an explosive situation.

Mike Awesome betrayed America when he joined Team Canada at the last Thunder. He also betrayed Jim Duggan when he attacked him on that very same Thunder. Tonight, Mike Awesome battles another man who feels that Awesome let him down in the former Hardcore Champion, Crowbar. Crowbar had told Awesome to go find his edge again but this isn't exactly what he had meant. Crowbar has challenged Awesome to a match and hopes to exact revenge for his actions against Duggan. Speaking of Duggan, where will he be in all this? Duggan said he was walking away from wrestling but will he try to get back at Awesome? What role will the other members of Team Canada play? Nobody can forget Daffney who will be in Crowbar's corner.

The Insiders have been at war with the Natural Born Thrillers ever since Nash got jumped by the punks in November. The two factions will go at it again at WCW Sin. Except the Insiders do not know which members of the Thrillers they will be defending the titles against. But tonight, DDP knows exactly who his oppenant is as he goes one on one with Sean O'Haire. Will O'Haire be one of the oppenants at Sin? Is O'Haire only out to soften up DDP for the upcoming title match? Where will the other Thrillers be during this contest?

WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero hasn't been in General Rection's good books. The Grneral feels that Chavo has turned his back on MIA. How will Rection feel about Chavo teaming up with one of Rection's other troops? Will this cause more dissension in the struggling faction? As tonight, Chavo will team up Corproal Cajun against the upstart team of Shane Helms & Shannon Moore, 3 Count. This will be Chavo's chance to get a warm up against his oppenant for WCW Sin. Helms has been on quite the streak lately but will it continue tonight against Chavo and Cajun?

The WCW Hardcore Title will be on the line tonight as Terry Funk will do battle with the monster Meng and the beast from the east Bam Bam Bigelow. Meng almost had Funk beat at the last Nitro but Crowbar interfered to save Funk's title. Meanwhile, Bam Bam Bigelow holds a victory over Crowbar from the most recent Thunder. Both these wrestlers are very capable of walking away with the Hardcore Championship. Then again, people have been trying to count Terry Funk out for years. The man doesn't seem to know when to quit. The toughest Texan in the world will definitely bring the fight tonight against these two real life monsters.

Join us tonight live on TNT at 9:00 pm EST. WCW Nitro comes to you from Nashville, TN. It will be an unforgettable night of amazing WCW wrestling action.

    Confirmed matches:

    DDP v. Sean O'Haire

Chavo Guerrero Jr & Corpinal Cajun v. 3 Count

    Mike Awesome v. Crowbar

WCW Hardcore Title: Terry Funk v. Bam Bam Bigelow v. Meng

    ---------------------------------

OOC: I was hoping the Quick and Dirty results would allow you guys to have your memory freshened up with what was happening in the company at that time. I know that most readers aren't fans of when WCW diaries hire up the Indy darlings but I clearly remember Daniels & Modest having a match on Thunder where Steiner ran in and injured both thus I assume they would have had some sort of developmental contract. WCW ran a piece about Sapp and how he was training in the Power Plant during December of 2000. Jimmy Hart was a major pusher for Hail as the future of WCW. Anyway, that was my reasoning for having all 4 of those guys on contract. My goal is to have Nitro up within a day.

  5. Sometimes, I think I look forward to the newsbites more then the actual cards. Once again, it was a very entertaining newsbite.

It's good to see that Scorpio is ready to be brought back up and more exciting to realize you've got a gimmick in place for him already. I look forward to whenever his debut will be.

Why would you even bother writing out Bob Backlund? I don't think he has been on a show in months. Why not just let him disappear into the wind rather then give him exposure right before his release?

Not sad to see any of the releases. None of those guys seemed to have much of an upside value at this point.

It was too bad to see a slew of good Light Heavies start to tour with Japan. They are definitely guys that the division in WWF could use.

Are you actually considering to start push the Light Weight division? Or was that newsbite more along the lines of JR hot air.

Ever consider giving us the results of the other feds' PPVs?

I do like being able to follow the other promotion to an extent. I also appreciate that you're trying to keep WCW fairly strong and allowing them to have some hot programs too (like admitting their main event may be a bigger draw then your title match).

Looking forward to the start of the KOTR. No clue who to bet for yet. Though Waltman could be an early favourite due to his large push at this point.

    Looking forward to Mayhem.

  6. You're first PPV is now in the books. I have to say that I did enjoy the write ups for the last two matches. I think they were a decent length and the drama was there. In both matches, you kept all the wrestlers fairly strong and made it so either guy could have won. It was done well and it was a solid show especially the final two matches.

I am not sure how I feel about the Austin turn. It was totally unexpected and didn't seem to have much build up behind it. It also doesn't seems to make much sense at this point. I'll save the rest of my opinion until Raw when you'll have a chance to explain it. It definitely will add sizzle to a Rock and Austin rematch.

I definitely liked the big beat down of X Pac. It made HHH even seem more of a bad ass and despicable heel. X Pac gained some massive sympathy points which is how X Pac should be played (underdog). It also looks like that the feud may have at least one more match in it which is a good thing.

I'm interested to see where the face burning of Kane will goes. It definitely opens up some interesting possibilities.

Everything else on the show was pretty by the numbers. Though I am sensing an Al Snow character make over soon. That could be interesting.

Keep up all the work and you've definitely got me interested in Raw now with this Austin heel turn.

One more thing, what do you mean by picking a character to debut? Am I just telling you a guy that I would like you to hire?

  7. A decent Raw as you build towards your next big IYH PPV. The opening segment was fairly predictable but it was also necessary. Though the booking for the Triple Threat hasn't been innovative or fresh it has been fairly solid. All three guys are looking pretty strong going into the PPV. Though after tonight's main event, I've got a feeling that Hall may now be added into the mix. We could very well have a fatal four way on our hands. Or maybe Rude will throw a wrestler at Hall in order to occupy and keep him from the title picture. I wouldn't be surprised if Rude decides to put a rift in the friendship between Hall & Waltman by making them face each other in a #1 contenders match.

I don't really like Detective Jelly and think the gimmick is a little too silly. I'm hoping he stays away from Raw very regurally. Though I'm not the biggest fan of Wright either.

The tag title feud between the champs and the Americans is pretty by the numbers. It's obvious this will be your tag title match for the PPV. I'm predicting that the champs will retain. Some type of angle needs to be thrown into this feud to avoid it from being so generic.

Austin and Snow continues to be a rather fun feud. I'm looking forward to more of a Snow's chase for Austin's title. I'm thinking Austin should throw a wrestler in Snow's way before he will get him another title shot. The continued build will make the eventual rematch so much sweeter.

The HHH and Shamrock story seems to be following the same pattern as Snow and Austin. Hopefully, that will be changed up soon. Though Goldust in the mix is keeping it interesting.

Tony Halme got hired on the weekend by WCW and then gets fired by Monday. He must have done something rather quickly to piss the company off.

I'm looking forward to the Friday show and seeing all the main stories progressed. IYH is shaping up to be a another solid PPV.

  8. Good first PPV effort for the underdog of the new Big 3. All the major players got showcased and all the champions were looking strong. Lots of possible routes to go for the next few game months.

I like Luger's cheating and cowardly ways. I also like the potential with his new lackey, Jason Swinger. Is Swinger also known as Johnny? It looks like a feud may be coming up between Luger and Austin. Is Austin fit to wrestle, though? I defnitely like to see where this is shaping to go.

Didn't like the fact that Ultimo was nothing more then a glorified jobber. He could be used so much better. Or was this because he is signed to a Japan promotion too?

I enjoyed the tag title ladder match. The Team Canada push is a good one. The involvement of the Naturals will only makes things more exciting.

Joe v. Shamrock was a another quality match. Samoa should have a big push in store for him.

I think, you finally found a personality for AJ that people can care about. I'm definitely enjoying this gimmick.

I'll continue to root on this little promotion against the big, bad WWE & FEW.

  9. Prediction time:

Austin v. Rock- Steve Austin is fresh from coming off winning the World Title from the Rock. I can't see any reason for Rock winning back the championship. Besides, the title needs some stability after it jumped all over the place the months before. Austin will have a hard fought match but will walk out the champ after Shane's interference backfires.

X-Pac v. HHH - This will be another close and grueling match. I'm sure that both guys will come out off looking rather strong. But HHH needs to win this match in order to put himself in position for the main event. Afterall, who else is Austin going to feud with after he's done with Rock?

Venis v. Goldust - This is probably the match I am least sure of. It comes down to trying to get the title some stability again since Goldust just won it. It'll be a close match but Goldust will come out the better man. Besides, Goldust is getting a new push with Marlena thus it makes sense to give him a few strong wins. I expect RVD to possibly get invovled in this match as well.

Kane v. Chyna - Hate to correct your preview but the turn happend when Chyna smoked Kane with a chair during his match against HHH. Chyna was corporate with Kane before WM and then reunited with HHH that night. Anyway, that is besides the point. Kane needs to win here or his career will take a nosedive. Chyna can afford to get squashed here and still have a decent WWF career.

Taker/Acolytes v. Bossman/Test/Shamrock - Ministry will need to win here in order to progress the kidnapping of Vince story. We want to see what they have in store for Vince, right? Besides, the Corporation has gotten no push or build going into this while Ministry is very strong.

Gill v. Christian - It's a foregone conclusion. If you want the Light Heavyweight title to mean anything then Christian must win here.

Snow v. Holly - It's time for Snow to finally win the Hardcore title. It will be a close one but Snow will pull it off. Though I have no idea what either guy does after this match? I have a feeling that Bart Gunn might be an upcoming challenger for Snow and maybe Holly will go after D Lo's title?

Best rated match? Austin v. Rock

  10. I usually really dig this show because it has the guys that we never see on the premier shows. Plus I've always been a fan of C-Shows, for some reason, on diaries. Maybe because it takes less of my day to read them?

I really think poor Furna & Lafon are being misused. They deserve a run at the title against Pillman and Beniot. I think, the damage is already been done with them and they don't really have any credibility anymore. As for the other four, they can remain in C-Show hell forever, for all I care.

Big fan of Hollywood Holly which is funny because I could never stand the guy in real WWF. The gimmick seems to be catching on. I look forward to the inevitable push. Kanyon is fantastic too, of course.

I don't really like the name Nasty Mike. It sounds so bush league. Though, he is nothing more then a glorified jobber at this point.

It's too bad that Chavo seems to destined to the lower card for now. Light Heavey title really lacks any credibility at this point. Though I believe that Chavo is the man to make it mean something if you decide to push him and the title. Though, you still use it 100 time better then the WWE is.

Shocked that guys like Bulldog, Vader and Nash got some play on this show. I guess, if you didn't use them then your rating would have been even lower.

The squashing of Taka makes me cry. I hate it when quality lightweights are used as jobbers for big lugs. But it's how the real WWF would have done it. So, it's definitely an accurate portrayal. Hopefully, some day Taka can be used in a proper program.

It makes me laugh that WCW hired Tyson and Dory Funk. It's so typical of the actuall WCW. Hiring really old and aging talent or hiring really washed up celebrity talent. I expect both to be released by next month.

Well, keep up all the work. Look forward to the A-shows.

  11. Actually, I found the Dennis Knight (Mideon) being all chained up to be really lame too. Just because the WWF did it doesn't really make it all that cooler. Like I said, the angle is pretty realistic for the time period and thus I don't want to harp on it too much. You've got to have a few non-sensical and over the top angles since it's WWF Attitude era. Despite not digging it, I realize it works very well for this diary and can imagine it actually happening.

  12. A good, solid Thunder but it definitely still has a B-Show feel. Which isn't necessarily bad since it allows for the mid cards to get some showcase. Looking forward to the Booker v. Marc rematch but I'm pretty sure Marc will win this time. Too bad since I'm a big Booker fan.

I'm really enjoying the Eddie and Chavo story. I like the slow build and simmering rivalry. I'm sure this will end up being a feud to help out both guys.

I'm pretty sure it's obvious that Regal will be the partner for O'Haire. I get the feeling that Sting calling O'Haire a 'liar' is foreshadowing for O'Haire to betray Regal. Besides, a stable of Sting, Dinsmore & O'Haire would be really sweet. Though Regal will eventually need to find someone he can trust since that would mean two people have betrayed him. Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself since we don't even know if Regal will team with O'Haire. I got a inkling.

AMW need a solid feud. I would vote DDP & Kanyon but they look to be occupied by the Canadians. That might just be a quick placeholder feud (though, I don't think the Canadians job just after being established).

Kidman & Aries stuff was pretty decent. Though I doubt the feud was blown off considering the last few shows of build. Maybe a gimmick match at the PPV?

All in all, look forward to seeing where the next few weeks are headed. I think, it should be a really good Nitro coming up.

  13. I feel you have done a really good job of capturing this era of the WWF. A lot of crash tv style and lots of interference. Of course, making sure that lots of story developments happens each episode. A lot like Russo, you've done a decent job of putting some focus on the midcard. Though I have noticed that Sable & Nicole Bass have got nothing since Mania. I'm not opposed to no Nicole & Sable but WWF from this period would definitely have had them on the shows.

I don't really like the Undertaker v. Vince story. Don't they go to different arena's each show? Have they transported Vince with chains and all from each arena to another hidden spot? Why hasn't Stephanie got police involvement? Admittedly, WWF had these same problems with their version of the storyline when Steph got kidnapped at Backlash. At least, it's accurate to that time period. The real storyline was cool because it had all the dissension between the Corportion and Shane's eventual take over of it. I don't see that played as much here as Shane is only focusing on the Rock. Shamrock hasn't necessarily made himself completely aligned with Vince.

Where's the Mean Street Posse? Are you afraid their bad ass selves with dissimate the rest of your roster?

Austin v. Rock is a solid story. It's been built better then it was back then. I've enjoyed the matches and Shane's constant involvement. Though I don't agree with Show jobbing. I'm thinking you should have held off on that match. Show was still pretty well handled back then and not just a big jobber that he later became. I'd say, it would be good to keep him real strong and not easily beaten. Money could have been made off the Show if he was booked right. He shouldn't be jobbing to the Rock so easily or soon.

Backlash is definitely shaping up to be a good one. I look forward to the stories moving forward. I'm also enjoying the Headbangers actually getting some invovlement. As in the actual WWF, this would be when Chaz's lame gimmick was introduced. I look forward to see where the Bart push goes and how the Headbangers get used.

Don't forget, it's all about the Brown (D Lo).

  14. First things off, I wanted to say that the last PPV was very strong. Unlike a typical post Wrestlemania period, things seem to be very hot in your WWF Universe. As there is a lot of major stories coming together and 'money making' feuds on the horizon. The last PPV was definitelty not a typical IYH as there was a decent amount of story development.

I like where the Cactus and Micheals storyline is headed. It's cool that Cactus is sort of like a dark angel attempting to bring Micheals to the side of evil. Even though Cactus may not win the match, he could very well change Shawn Micheals for the worse which it seems he sets out to do. Friday Night Mayhem played out Micheals inner turmoil very well. Will Terry Funk still play a part or has he served your purpose? I think, it would be really sad if all Terry was hired for was to interfere in a major match and then job to Micheals. I really would like Terry to stick around. Depending where this storyline goes then may be even a heel stable of Funk, Jack and heel turned Micheals (as he fully comes to Jack's side of thinking).

I also like how Ahmed got his moral victory by destroying Wright but still did the job thus maintaining the Wright push. I don't like the Wright character or enjoy his segments. But I can appreciate how the Ahmed feud was booked despite not really liking the content.

Sid's involvement in the main even seems so random. I get a feeling we might be looking at a fatal four way with Hall, Nash, Taker and Sid. Though, you could also just go with a straight up Nash & 'Taker again with Sid and Hall simmering in the background. I can appreciate how strong you are making Sid at this point. He is another character I don't care for but he definitely seems like a title threat. Even if his involvement seems to have come out of nowhere. The non-match on Raw probably would have pissed off lots of fan who would have been stoked for the match. I do think you're doing a solid job of making him seem like he deserves to be in the main event by taking out both "Taker and Nash on consecutive shows.

Is Monty Davidson a worker or just a random referee you're using to be heel? If he is a worker, is he somebody we should know? Just curious.

I am wondering where you came up with the name Luigi Alfredo Ruifini (or whatever it is). Is it just a random name you came up with that sounded Italian? Or is there some pun I'm missing? It just seems like a hard name to say. A very untypical wrestling name. I personally thought it could be one of the worse wrestling name's created but I will admit I could be just missing the genius of it. Where did you get the idea for that name???

Is Ric Flair still employed and could we expect him soon? Or will you just make me wait until the next monthly update?

Push Hakushi & Scorpio. Just saying. Actually, all the cruiserweight could use some more play in my opinion. Oh yeah, don't forget the D Lo push -- that was rocking.

I like the HHH & Goldust story and think it has a lot of cool directions to go. I'll patiently wait for that to unfold.

The Martel story is a good one too. I have to say that I like this Universe Martel a lot more then the real life Martel. I look forward to the inevitable heel turn but this slow build is real good. I like the whole delusional, egomaniac thing. A eventual match between him and Hart will be good. I also like that he is attacking heels right now despite acting like one himself. It's a good use of the 'shade of grey' that WWF started adopting back then.

The Scott Hall character reminds me a lot of the Steve Austin of that time. Just a rebel that will attack anyone. I definitely dig his character and wouldn't mind another run at the title. I think the Hall vs. Rude story has lots of pontential to last through the year. Will it be able to match the real Austin and McMahon?

Add Owen Hart to the list of guys I miss. Hopefully, he still has a future.

Austin v. Snow probably has potential of being your diary's feud of the year. I think, it still has lots of steam to it. Don't kill it off quite yet. The build to Snow's eventual win will make it that much more sweet.

All in all, you're making it a good post Mania period. Even if there is a few stories and characters I don't dig so much. Keep up all the work.

  15. There has been a question lingering in my mind for a little while now. Just today, I happened to snag it and will now reveal for you to answer. I notcied that you have a few wrestlers who debuted after '92 like Andrew Martin, Buh Buh Ray, Spike, Simon Diamond and so on. I was wondering how did you add them into the scenerio? Did you create them from computer generated wrestlers? Did you tranfer this game to another 'modern' scenerio? Were they already in the '92 scenerio? Do you enjoy all these question that basically only need one answer to shut them all up?

I'm sure the answer is obvious but I've never dealt with the obvious. Thanks in advance.

  16. I love this diary. Probably tied with JHS' WCW '93 for my favourite. You do a really good job of capturing the feel of WWE but making it a lot better then WWE. Unlike most people, I really enjoy the Molly push. A lot. Considering what she has been through in this diary, her getting a World Title match is quite the pay off. It could lead to quite the feel good moment. I have to admit I'm guilty of rooting for Molly even though I'm sure there is no chance she'll win this thing.

I'm impressed with the way you've been pushing Jericho. He is such a bigger star in this reality then the real WWE. You've definitely made Jericho a legit main eventer. I'm digging the feud with Evolution. I hope there is a Jericho v. Beniot match in the near future.

No Triple H? Man, has he ever sunk low. Fighting women and then not even on the show.

Looking forward to the build to Rumble.

  17. I have to say that Nitro was a really good 'build-up' show. It didn't really break a lot of new ground but it definitely put everything in place for the PPV. I'm sure Thunder will sort out the final detials. You definitely put together a solid PPV and it has been hyped appropriately. I'm very intrigued to see where Raven and his stable will go. It's nice to see a fresh face on top of the WCW '99 main event scene. I feel Raven should have always been pushed a little harder in WCW. Raven is always perfect as the leader of some psychotic gang. Not sure if I would order a PPV headlined by a six man but the undercard is truly solid. I think I'm more excited about what the future after Spring Stampede holds.

The only thing that seemed to bother me was the Sting promo. It just didn't seem like Sting to me. It lacked that certian 'it'. Most of the other interviews were done pretty well. I look forward to Spring Stampede and see what you've got to offer.

    WCW Live

The scene opens to a shot of Ric Flair & Sting battling Terry Funk & the Great Muta inside a steel cage. An older WCW fan would recognize this is the main event of the first ever Havoc. The video than starts to cut to various other big Halloween Havoc matches, while a generic hard rock theme plays in the background. Sting v. Sid Vicious, Hollywood Hogan v. Randy Savage, Ric Flair v. Rick Rude, Sting v. Bret Hart, Scott Steiner v. Booker T – as well, as several other matches are seen in the package. The clips come by quickly and it’s hard to discern every match. Maybe even some non-Havoc matches snuck in? The hard rock theme comes to a crescendo and the scene cuts to a graphic.

    WCW Halloween Havoc

    The Tradition Continues

This Sunday – Only on PPV

The scene cuts to the WCW Live studio. The studio is decorated in festive Halloween. There are black and orange streamers attached from wall to ceiling. In the background, there is a skeleton hanging from the wall. In the centre of it all is the newly fixed WCW Live desk which at the moment houses Tony Schiavone & Mike Tenay. Both are decked out in blue WCW blazers.

TS: Welcome WCW fans, to another great episode of WCW Live. I am Tony Schiavone and this is my co-host Iron Mike Tenay. As the video package said, WCW Halloween Havoc is this Sunday. I can hardly wait.

MT: Me neither Tony, WCW Halloween Havoc is boasting one of the most exciting cards in wrestling. It’s all capped off by that huge WCW Title match between Booker T and Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner. It should be a very wild affair.

TS: Don’t forget Goldberg putting it all on the line. Goldberg will do battle with two seasoned veterans in a handicap match.

MT: That’s right. Goldberg v. Totally Buff – Lex Luger & Buff Bagwell. If Goldberg loses, than he promises to never head line another show or go after the World title again. Basically, Goldberg will be a curtain jerker for the rest of his career.

TS: How did he put it? Wrestle Disco Inferno for the rest of his career?

MT: If he wins, than he has been promised a shot at the World title. Goldberg claims that these last few years he has been held down. I can’t disagree with him. Despite his amazing record, how many title shots has Goldberg been given since his loss at Starrcade ’98?

TS: I can probably count it on one hand, Tenay. Goldberg is really putting so much on the line.

MT: WCW Halloween Havoc boasts many other great matches. We will have two other title matches. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Shane Helms defends against the former champion Chavo Guerrero Jr.

TS: The WCW World Tag Team Championship will also be on the line in a match that may very well be the show stealer.

MT: 4 wrestlers that are arguably the future of WCW and the wrestling business. Billy Kidman & Rey Misterio team up to try to win the World Tag Team championship from Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo. You are right Tony, this could be the show stealer.

TS: Later tonight, we will have a sit down interview with the champions. That should be exciting.

MT: Also at Havoc, we have the first ever WCW Miss Halloween Havoc Contest. Three very beautiful women will be in that contest. Midajah. Stacy Kiebler. And our other guest tonight, Torrie Wilson. Wow!

TS: Wow, indeed. Now, the other matches on the card all contain members of the faction the Magnificent Seven. Earlier today, the WCW.com crew caught up with the stable that calls themselves the Magnificent Seven.

MT: Despite the fact there are 8 of them

Scene cuts to an interview room. A giant WCW logo is the backdrop. Standing in the room are 8 very well dressed men. These men are the Magnificent Seven: Ric Flair, Road Warrior Animal, Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner, Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell, Chris Kanyon, Jeff Jarrett.

RF: WOOOO! WCW Halloween Havoc. WCW Lives. MGM Grand. Las Vegas. The place where dream come true. Also the place that a lot of disappointed punks will be leaving on the 27th. October 27th, that is the night the Magnificent Seven ride again. I may not be the CEO anymore. Bischoff might be calling the shots. But at the Havoc, it will be the Magnificent Seven running this show. Goldberg! You will be done. All over. WOOOO! No more. Just like it should have been back in January, when my boys beat your ass. It will be beat again. No one will chant your name again. 40 years pal. Every arena yells out WOOO. You’re a flash in the pan. I’m the real deal. Screw Bischoff. Screw him for bringing you back. Abuse of power! You will be abused at Halloween Havoc. WOOO!!!!

RF: (still talking – definitely seems to be throwing a fit like only Flair can). As for the Rhodes boys, you got the better of me back in March. That was a long time ago. Dusty, I’ve beat you before. At Havoc, I’m going to beat you again. Me and the Chosen One will be run you out of Vegas. Nobody! Nobody not even a former NWA Champion embarrasses the Nature Boy and is able to survive. Your luck is up at Havoc. You just rolled a snake eyes. Because I’m a leer jet flying, limousine driving, kiss all the girls and make them cry – son of a gun. Dusty! Dustin! WOOO! I’m going party. I’m going to kick your ass!

JJ: The Nature Boy! The Chosen One! We are going to team up again. We are going to show all the Las Vegas Slapnuts, what true greatness is. Rhodes are a pimple in the world of wrestling history. It’s Flair. It’s Jarrett. Those are the real names of greatness. At Halloween Havoc, we’re going to prove it.

RF: WOOO! He’s right. I’m right. Hey Champ. What you got to say!

SS: Booker! That is my title. You’re jus’ keepin’ it warm. At Hav’uk, I’m going to be the World champion again. I’m going to rule wresslin’. Just like I rule my freaks. After I tear you apart and leave ya for dead – I’m going wine and dine my freaks. My #1 freak. Bring your Ebonics speaking ass to the ring and I’ll shove it the largest arms in the whole damn wurrld!!! (sic)

LL: Ha ha. You tell him, Poppa. Goldberg, Flair gave you the warning. You think you can spear me through a table and get away scott free? We beat you once. I will beat you again. Halloween Havoc, will be the last time you’ll see the name Goldberg on the marquee. Totally Buff will go 2-0 thanks to me. Lex Luger.

BB: Lexy! Goldberg should be known more like Goldturd. Cause we’re going to flush him at Havoc. HAHAHAHA! We are Totally Buff and I am the stuff. Oh yeah!

RF: WOOO! Kanyon, tell the other 19 punks whose going to win the 20 man battle royal!

CK: Kanyung is. Becuz nobody iz betta than Kanyung. 19 Jabronies will be taking a one way flight over the top rope. I’ll be the number one contender to the US Title. I’ll be the champion! Bam Bam, Duggan, Funk, Crowbar – none of them are even in my league. This will be a picnic. It will be my night. The night of Kanyung. The next US Champion.

RS: Nash, Stinger, DDP and Sid Vicious we haven’t forgot about you. You guys wants revenge on my brutha? First you got to get through me, Animal and our friends, Team Canada. That ain’t going to happen. WOOF WOOF!

A: You tell him, Haw. . . Rick! We’re taking you guys out the only way we know how and that is straight ahead. Going right at you. Bones will be broken and tears will be shed. We’re going to put all four of you back on the shelf!

RF: WOOOO!!!! Magnificent Seven! This is what WCW is all about. We will prove it at Halloween Havoc.

Scene returns to the WCW Live Studio.

TS: They sure are confident, aren’t they Tenay?

MT: They definitely got the talk but it will be this Sunday where they have to prove to have the walk. It should be a very wild night.

TS: In a few moments, we will be talking to our first guests, the WCW Tag Team Champions. Before that, we need to have a word from our sponsors.

Generic rap is being played in the background. The camera cuts to many random shots of what looks like an alleyway. Lots of guys and girls seem to be chilling out there. Konnan then struts into the scene.

    K: Let’s get filthy!

Konnan pulls out a Jersey from his backside. It is an Official WCW Filthy Animal Jersey.

K: With the Filthy Animal Jersey. You know you are all a bunch of Filthy Animals like me. Prove it with this Official WCW Filthy Animal Jersey, mang.

Graphic appears to show where to call to get this great Jersey!

Cut back to the WCW Live studio. Tony seems to have been eating something during the break because he has crumbs all over his Blazer.

TS: Welcome back fans. Now, let me introduce the future of WCW. The WCW World Tag Team Champions – Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo.

The champions music blares over the speakers and the champion make their way to the desk.

    MT: Welcome, champs.

SO: Thanks, Mike. Thanks, Tony. It is so great to be here. The pleasure is all ours. I’m really pumped that WCW is back. I can’t wait for this Sunday.

CP: I just want to shout out to all our fans over the internet. You guys rule. Thank you for your patience. We will be kicking ass again starting this Sunday.

TS: This Sunday, you have quite the title defense in store. You will be facing members of the Filthy Animals. Billy Kidman & Rey Misterio.

SO: That’s right. What an honor that is going to be. These are two of the best wrestlers in the world right now. It is a great chance to prove that we are for real. We have been proving that all year. Beginning of the year our list of victims was pretty extensive – Team Canada, Totally Buff, Kronik, Jindrak/Stasiak – the list goes on and on. This summer, we took on all comers on the independent scene. We are pumped to be back in WCW and ready to prove what we got.

CP; Yeah. So good to be here. We do respect Misterio and Rey. Dudes, you guys rock. We will beat you. We will prove why we are going to be the greatest WCW Tag Team Champions ever.

SO: They call us the future of wrestling but we say, why wait? Our fame is coming now.

MT: You guys seem very confident. These two guys are very unlike the other teams you mentioned. These guys are lighter and faster. What will be your strategy to beat this very different team.

SO: We aren’t expecting Totally Buff or Kronik. We know these guys are different. I’d say they are even better then those teams. They are young and they are hungry. Just like us. They want this. (taps on World Tag belt). We are young and hungry too. I’m not ready to give this belt up. I’m not ready to stop this win streak we are on. Our strategy is simple. We are going full at them. We are going to be aggressive. We are going to use are size. We are going to hit them like a Mack truck. Havoc will be our night. No doubt.

CP: Earlier you said, this match could be the show stealer. I’m saying that it will be. We will put on a display you’ve never seen before. We will pull out all the stops. We are going to show why we aren’t just the future of wrestling. We are the now. I’ll say there are few better than us. Rey and Kidman, good luck to you. Can’t wait to fight you. You aren’t leaving with our titles!

TS: You keep referring to how you are labeled as the future. Do you guys feel any pressure with that label?

SO: No. Because it’s true. We both know it deep inside. I know I’m a great athlete. I know there isn’t many people who can do what I do. I thank God for that. I thank the fans for the support they have shown us. I’m telling you right now – Palumbo and O’Haire – those names will be on the marquee for a long time. We will be headlining PPV. We will be winning World Championships. Right now, we are concerned about being the best we can be. To be the best, we need to defend these tag title. That means taking out Rey and Kidman.

CP: Sean, said it, Tony. We just are concerned with the now. The future will come. We will be there. Showing to the world why we are the best. Kidman and Rey will find that out this Sunday just how good we really are.

TS: Strong words from the champions. Sean and Chuck, thank you very much for your time.

SO: Like I said before, the pleasure is really all ours. We love our fans. We love WCW. We love kicking ass. We will be doing that this Sunday.

CP: Seeya then. Oh, this is for Kidman and Rey. Make sure you got your health insurance up to date. Seeya soon boys!

TS: Those are the WCW World Tag Team Champions. They seem very confident.

MT: They should be Tony. They’ve got a big size advantage this Sunday. They just need to make sure to not underestimate Rey and Billy.

TS: I get the feeling that they know what Kidman and Rey can bring to the table. I really look forward to that match.

MT: I really look forward to seeing Torrie Wilson.

TS: She’s next, Mike. Right after this brief word from our sponsors.

It’s a generic ad from Sony Playstation. It hawks all the big games from 2001. Whatever the heck they were.

    Cut back to the studio.

TS: It’s the moment you have been waiting for, Mike.

MT: It’s time to bring out the very lovely, Torrie Wilson.

‘The Stripper’ plays over the speakers and brings out Torrie Wilson. Torrie looks absolutely stunning in a pink top and blue daisy dukes. Torrie slides her way over to the desk.

    TW: Hi guys!

MT: Wow, Torrie. You look stunning.

TW: Thank you. It’s great to be on this show.

MT: It’s great to have you!

TS: Well, Torrie it has been a long time since WCW fans have last seen you. It was January when we saw you carted out on a stretcher. Hugh Morrus had accidentally hit you but your man at the time, Shane Douglas, blamed him fully for the injury. How have you recovered?

TW: Thank you for the concern. I will admit that was a very scary time. I am fully recovered. I have no major neck problems. I am excited to be back in WCW. For the record, I don’t blame Hugh. I got involved in the match. I was in the ring. I take the full blame for it. Shane was wrong to feel it was Hugh’s fault.

MT: Speaking of Shane, have you been in contact with him since WCW took hiatus?

TW: I haven’t heard from Shane since the day I was carted out on the stretcher. No phone calls. No cards. No visits. The last I saw of Shane was when he cut that promo on Nitro against Ric Flair. He was obsessed with taking out Flair. I am sure he still is.

TS: You have no affiliation with Shane at all? Now, Torrie, I may be out of line here but you seem very different than when we last saw you. You seem very pleasant right now. When you were with Shane, well, you weren’t pleasant.

MT: Say it, Tony. She was a bitch!

TW: Ha. Yeah, I was. I regret siding with Shane Douglas. Shane was a jerk. He was a bad guy. Being with him made me someone I regretted. I didn’t like what I did to Madusa or Hugh. I am really sorry for the hell I put Billy through. I was wrong. I was really wrong. I never should have hurt someone I cared so much about.

MT: Do you still have feelings for Billy Kidman?

TW: I just will admit that I was wrong. I hurt him. I never should have aligned with Douglas. I regret what happened last summer. I hope, one day that Billy can forgive me. I do still care for Billy very much. For whatever that means.

TS: Have you spoken to Billy since last summer?

TW: No. I’m embarrassed from last summer. I don’t think he wants to talk to me. I don’t blame him.

MT: I hope things work out for you two. Now, you will make your return at Havoc. In the Miss WCW Halloween Havoc Competition. Are you ready to give us a preview?

TW: [laughs] You’ll have to wait until this Sunday, Tenay. I can promise you it will be worth the wait. I’ve got a great bikini picked out. Very sexy. I can’t wait to show it off this Sunday. I will be Miss Halloween Havoc. I’m sure the fans will pick me.

MT: I look forward to it.

TS: Torrie, thank you so much for your time.

TW: No, thank you. It was great to address my fans again. I can’t wait to be able to give them all a real treat at Halloween Havoc.

TS: It should be quite the treat. Well, fans thank you for tuning in. If you want to see Torrie with a little less clothing than be sure to tune in for WCW Halloween Havoc. Where you will get that plus lots of heart pounding wrestling action.

    MT: Seeya this Sunday, fans!

    Internet Assault.com News – 10.26.01

    Tony Schiavone Demoted

There is word that Tony Schivone may be getting a lessened role in WCW. Tony Schivone has been the head announcer in WCW ever since Jim Ross left in ’93. Apparently, Bischoff hasn’t been impressed with Tony’s work for the last few years. Miek Tenay is reported to now be given the head announcer spot. The word is, Scott Hudson will be commentating with Tenay tomorrow at Havoc. Schivaone’s new role will be backstage interviewer.

    Ric Flair to Need Surgery

As if WCW doesn’t have enough problems! WCW wrestling icon Ric Flair reportedly has a very serious knee injury. The knee will have to be scoped and have immediate surgery. The word is that if it isn’t operated upon than Flair will not be able to walk again let alone wrestle. The current word is that Flair will be out of action for at least 16 months. At Flair’s current age, this may be the end of his career. At this point, WCW is positive that Flair will be able to make a full recovery. No word on what this does to the tag match with Jarrett and the Rhodes. Plus who knows what will happen to the Magnificent Seven now. This internet geek wishes Flair a safe and full recovery.

    DSW Results

I just got sent these Deep South Wrestling Results. The event took place at the Macon Legion Hall. The attendance was apparently around 375 people which is really good for a first ever independent show. Don’t have word on the gross yet. Anway, here are the results:

Air Paris/Yang/Kwee Wee defeated Jason Jett/Evan Karagious w/Leia Meow/Kid Romeo - this was a really great match. The crowd really started getting heated up. This was a smart opener. Unfortunately, Allen Funk came out as Kwee Wee. He still brought the goods in the wrestling department. Yang/Paris/Funk wrestled as faces. Jett/Karagious/Romeo played overly cocky heels. They played it up really well. Evan seems to have dropped the boy band gimmick and seems to be playing more of a Teen Idol type thing. He came to the ring passing out signed pictures of himself. It got over huge. Meow came out with Karagious and acted as if she was enamored with him. She was in a school girl outfit and was hot! End Game: Paris hit a 450 on Jett. After the match the heel laid a swift attack on the face team.

Harris Boys beat Stevie Ray/MI Smooth: This was a pretty awful match. Killed the crowd heat. Ray/Smooth seemed to be doing a New Harlem Heat gimmick. The crowd wasn’t into them at all. End Game: Harrisses finished off Smooth with the H Bomb which was impressive considering how bloated Smooth is now.

Kaz Hayashi beats Elix Skipper, Jamie Noble, & David Flair w/ Miss Elizabeth in a 4 corners match. This was under one fall rules. Noble & Flair were playing baby faces. Noble was doing a redneck gimmick which got over huge here in Macon. Flair was playing up his lineage of being a Second generation star. This is Ric Flair country so it works. Miss Elizabeth came out with Flair and helped disrobe him. She just cheer lead on the outside and didn’t seem to have anymore personality than normal. She looked really hot though. Kaz was doing a gimmick where he was superior to all ‘gaijin’ wrestlers. He disrespected everyone in the ring and refused to shake their hands. It got some really good heat. Kaz even seemed to want Elizabeth to leave the ringside area which also got lots of heat. Skipper played his same cocky gimmick from WCW. End Game: Kaz pinned Noble with a Kaz Driver (Michinoku Driver) and then spitting in Noble’s face when Noble offered his hand. A really stellar match. Kaz, Noble and Skipper were great. Flair was able to keep up.

Reno wrestled Wall to a Double count out. It was a decent brawl. Wall was playing the face. Both had similar gimmicks from WCW. Wall seemed to be back to his Misfit gimmick since he had camoflauge pants. Wall was called the Wall – not A-Wall. Match was decent but had some blown spots. End Game: Both men ignored the ref’s count and brawled to the back.

Arn Anderson came out and announced a Tourney will start at the next show. Winner will be the first DSW Champion. DSW will be having weekly shows here at the Macon Legion Hall. Next week’s show should be good. The brackets are the following:

    Jindrak v. David Flair

    AJ Styles v. Jason Jett

    Noble v. Kaz

    Evan v. Kwee Wee

    Reno v. Stevie Ray

    Ron Harris v. Wall

    Paris v. Skipper

    Romeo v. Yang

Not sure what matches are next week though. A kid in front of me was being real loud and annoying and I didn’t catch all that Arn said.

Paisley pinned Major Gunns – Oh my! Not good either. But they tried. Paisley even busted out a Tope and a handspring elbow. I’d say the handspring was better than Chyna’s. Not the best match but both girls can develop in time. I’d have thought they would be managers. Looks like WCW might want a women’s division. End Game: Paisley rolled through a cross body and pulled the tights for the win. One thing for sure, both girls have great ring attire. Very smoking!

Wayne DeBruce pinned Brian Knobbs in a hardcore match. This was pretty good. Mainly because it was really short. Very crazy. Both guys brawled all over the arena. End Game: DeBruce hit Knobbs with a ironing board for the win. Told you it was crazy.

AJ Styles beat Mark Jindrak w/ Tammy Sytch: Great match. Both guys really clicked well. Which was a big surprise. AJ seems to be able to adapt to almost any style. This kid is going to be the future. WCW really needs to keep a hold of him. Styles played the face and Jindrak played a Rick Rude type gimmick. Styles played a vanilla baby face but pulled it off well. Tammy was Jindrak’s valet and brought his mirror to the ring. She actually looked pretty hot. Much better than her last WCW appearance. She seems to have cleaned up. End Game: Styles pinned Jindrak after Tammy Sytch accidentally hit Jindrak with the mirror.

All in all, a really great night of wrestling and worth the 10 bucks!

OOC: There ya go. Next stop... Halloween Havoc. I'll start to work on it tomorrow night as long as nothing unexpected happens like actually having a life. I hope for it to be ready for reader consumption by next weekend.

On a side note, the Ric Flair injury has to be one of the biggest downers since I've started playing EWR. I had all of 2002 mapped out but most of it involved him. I hopefully did a decent job of covering up that unforeseen happening but I'll let you guys decide over time. I'm in the dog house if a few other key guys go down -- with my luck I should expect it.

    Internet Assault.com News – 10.22.01

WWF No Mercy Results & Buyrate

WWF scored a 1.62 buy rate for No Mercy. Attendance at the Sacramento Arco Arena was reported to be 16619. WWF made around $40405000 from PPV revenue and close to $4997140 from tickets sales. WWF really loaded the show and many feel that is because of WCW’s return to PPV this Sunday. All in all, it was a really solid PPV.

WWF World Title: Steve Austin retained against Kurt Angle after Vince McMahon interfered on Austin’s behalf.

WWF IC Title: Edge regained the title against Christian in a ladder match that many say stole the show

WWF European Title: Rhyno won the title against William Regal. Regal threw a temper tantrum after the match.

WWF Tag Titles: Dudley Boys retained against the Hardy Boyz in a cage match

Big Show & APA defeated Test, X-Pac & Albert

WWF Women’s Title: Chyna defeated Ivory & Lita in a three way match

    WCW Power Struggle

Rumours are that Eric Bischoff and Markolous Krump have been having some frictions backstage. Markolous Krump was named the Vice President of WCW by financial backers Creative Imagination Inc. Apparently, the two have very different views of where WCW creatively should go in the future. Both Krump and Bischoff have their own ideas of which guys should be the centerpiece of the company. Bischoff apparently wants to push a lot of the established names, meanwhile, Krump wants to do a complete shake-up of the roster. Word is, Krump and Bischoff have been arguing for weeks over what the Havoc line-up should look like. The current line-up seems to be a compromise with it favoring Bischoff’s vision. It should be interesting to see where WCW goes after Havoc.

    WCW TV Deal In Limbo

A TV deal for WCW, has been one of the company’s major struggles. Bischoff had been hoping to have something locked down by this point. Now, it seems Bischoff isn’t as optimistic that WCW will land a show anytime soon. A sign is that Bischoff is turning to the internet to showcase weekly programming with WCW Live. The word is, Bischoff, may also be looking at starting weekly PPVs. This is something the WWF had considered in the early 90s with Tuesday in Texas but that was terribly unsuccessful. But Bischoff may not have any other option without the television in place.

House Shows to Start After Havoc

WCW has announced their arena show schedule for the month of November. WCW will be running 5 house shows a week. At this point, it looks like the entire roster will be touring. The majority of the shows seemed to be hitting old NWA/WCW territory like Georgia, the Charlottes, Illinois, and Maryland. At this point, the local radio is hyping the cards to be headlined by Booker & Goldberg v. Scott Steiner & Chris Kanyon. That may give an idea of what could go down at Halloween Havoc.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: That is the official Halloween Havoc line-up though pay heed to the card subject to change. If all things go well, I should have a WCW Live, few more news updates and Halloween Havoc up for the end of this week. Fingers are crossed. For now, feel free to make predictions if that sort of thing amuses you.

  20. Idolized, this diary is not dead. Not by a long shot. I went to my parent's house for the Christmas holidays and didn't have access to EWR or my Diary files. When I got back this week, work was just extra hectic. Plus the EWR scenerio had some inaccurate data and that was bugging the heck out of me. Being the geek that I am, I've spent the last day fixing up all the data in the scenerio and replaying EWR to get me back to where I was. Of course, the game then had to make sure that one of my key wrestlers got himself injured for 16 months and totally messing up huge storyline plans. But isn't that half the fun???

This diary is alive. I'm hoping to have Havoc out by next weekend. Before Havoc, I should have some internet updates and the full Havoc line-up.

Sorry for the long delay but hopefully, it will all be worth the wait.

  21. Raw didn't disappiont. I'm really digging the conflict between Michaels and Flair. It can still go in a few directions. I personally hope it ends in a Flair v. Michaels match at 'Mania. I think that would be pretty wild.

In EWR, do you actually make money every month? I can't get over how bloated your roster is. I forgot all about Money Mine until they showed up this week. I think it's good that the Corporation is gone considering the gimmick is so close to Money Mine. You've got yourself a huge roster but it makes every show pretty fun. You never know who'll show up on the next show. It makes it easy for a lot of your guys to be lost in the shuffle. Truth is, many of your wrestlers seem doomed to midcard.

I noticed you are a big fan of the sunset flip or the small package finish. That had be close to half of the pinfalls at the Series. It's how Bret beat Jacob on Raw (which is how Rocky eliminated Jacobs at Series, I think).

It's all good stuff. Keep it up.

  22. Your diary is hitting on all gears right now. I have to admit I'm very stoked to see where the WWF heads when the road the Wrestlemania begins. I'm very intrigued to see what feuds start to form by the time Rumble hits. Especially since it seems most of the major feuds got resolved at the Series.

The Survivor Series didn't really hold a lot of surprises. In my opinion, all the elimination matches were fairly predictable. All the big debuts resulted in wins and the big return resulted in a win too. All the major blow offs resulted in the faces getting the big wins. This isn't a bad things though. Predictable doesn't have to mean dull. I'd much rather this than Russo 2000 craziness. Actually, I would have to say this was one of the strongest PPVs I've ever read in anyone's diary. I really enjoyed it a lot. I get the feeling that we might be heading to a Hall v. Taker title match. Maybe Rumble? I have to say that would be a very sweet feud. I'm really looking forward to the aftermath of Flair 'accidentally' screwing over Micheals.

The only flaw I felt was the fact wrestlers seemed to kick out of finishers too much. I know it adds to the drama. When wrestlers where kicking out of finishers in the lower card matches then it meant less when Hall and Micheals did it in the main event. It's of course just my opinion and no one else seemed to mind it. Seriously, I still thought this PPV was really fun and good. Has me pumped for the future of this diary.

One question though, how did you input the 5 man eliminations in to EWR? Did you make them battle royals or did you just make 4 man survivor matches and add the other 2 people into your diary? Just curious.

    Great stuff!

  23. Wow, that was a really good show. I have to say that going into Slamboree, I was dreading that Val would win the title. I didn't think he should be WCW Champ. I would say that you pulled it off. It came off like a really big event. I really dig Venis, Storm and Skipper as a stable. You can go a lot of different routes with that. Plus a heel champion seems to have a lot more possible challengers than a face champion. I think a Booker, RVD, Awesome v. Team Canada match would be wild. Well, I'm rambling now, so I'll stop. Great show!

  24. Thank you very much for the positive feedback, Idolized. Big thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in this diary. I was orignally a little apprehensive of the length of WCW Live because it was basically nothing more than a recap show. But I thought it would be important to start reminding people what was happening in WCW at the time. I personally, I tend to enjoy more detailed show reports which in turn means mine will lean that way. We will see how often I'll have time to churn out lengthy shows. I'm really glad that most people seem to be enjoying the early stages of this diary -- which I personally think is the dull part.

The complete line-up for Halloween Havoc should be up very soon. May have a few more internet reports before the PPV. Hopefully, Havoc will be worth the wait for you guys. Once again, thank you all for the interest and reading a diary from the unknown guy.
