It was completely unnecessary and tone-deaf, and it doesn't do much to make Tony's detractors look wrong. I already said my piece in The Ring where it probably belongs, anyway.

Really loving the Raider's draft thus far. I wouldn't be surprised if Bowers turns out to be the best player in the draft, he has that type of talent, and JPJ should slot right in at guard before moving to center in a few years when Andre James contract is up. Now, if the Raiders can keep drafting well in the later rounds like they have the last few years, things could really come together.

I know the Raiders have been taking flack for drafting Bowers when they drafted Mayer in the 2nd last year.

But he was BPA and 2TE sets are very much a thing. JPJ is a beast too.

Other than the Bears with Williams-Odunze, Bowers-JPJ is my favorite 1-2 punch for opening picks.

Good to know that Gongaga is the worst of it. How many chapters are there? I know there are at least 12.

Also, do they ever name the Weapon from Chapter 9? It doesn't look like Emerald or Diamond.

I think I'm towards the end of chapter 13 and there's just one more to go.

I don't think the Weapon was named, but I might just have missed it.

I think Gongaga is gonna be the open world area to break me. There are so many dead ends and narrow paths that makes traversing the place just not fun. It took me 15 minutes of wandering around to be able to find my way to one of the towers! Protorelic so I can see more Gilgamesh story and the one that boosts the summon materia, that's it! The reward isn't worth the hassle (especially because I never care about 100% games).

I'm rounding towards the end of the game and traversing Gongaga has been the worst part so far. That and Chadley.

  4. Won three runs yesterday while I was waiting for FFVII Rebirth to drop.

Two of the wins centered around getting three of a kind or even just pairs or high cards. Got some jokers that really boosted those hands.

The other win was a struggle until ante six where I got a x3 multiplier (rather than the typical + multiplier) joker. At that point it became a cakewalk.

I've been watching a few people play on YouTube though and have no clue how they're stacking eight or nine jokers, all with multiple abilities on them.

  5. Is anyone else finding the Junon section of the demo ridiculously hard?

I don't know if I've just forgotten how the combat works or something but I tried one of the Monster Hunter-style quests and got killed. Then I tried the first boss and got absolutely wasted.

It was a level of difficulty that felt decidedly unfun.

  6. So...I might have just neglected most of my life for the last week and blazed through Persona 3.

They did their best to improve Tartarus while staying true to the original but it still felt like a bit of a slog. Other than that though, I enjoyed it a great deal. The story landed better with me now as an adult who's suffered more than a fair share of loss in his life than it did when I first played it in my early twenties.

Koromaru and Aigis in particular got me in the feels quite a few times.

Now back to reading 1Q84 before Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth drops.

I LOVED Octopath Traveler 2. Sadly, yeah, the super boss is HARD. I couldn't even get passed the first phase.

Managed to do it by spamming BP-raising concoctions with Castti, breaking shields with Ochette and using Hikari to dish out mega damage in the first phase. Then hit it with Divine Brilliance from Temenos to finish it off quickly in the second phase.

Most my characters were around level 90.

  8. There were three games we had big leads in going into the final five minutes or so. We should have really finished 10-7 but the playcalling on both sides of the ball got super conservative towards the end of those games.

Hopefully Flus can learn from that going into next season.

I just don't get it. There are some good candidates out there. Why keep Flus? I will say the defense has improved a ton so like maybe he had something to do with that? I honestly don't keep track of what coaches are good at so much as their records and his is bad

GM Ryan Poles really believes in him, enough to hitch his wagon to him. And Bears President Kevin Warren has continually talked about the important of continuity.

The defense definitely improved once Sweat came in and the team never seemed to quit on Flus even during that initial bad run this season.

The ownership is also on the cheap side. They don't really like cutting people loose unless they really have to.

I can understand why they've stuck with Flus but it feels like we're in this endless cycle of drafting QBs to lame duck HCs. And this was a great off-season to get a new HC with so much talent out there (Belichick, Vrabel, Harbaugh and a bunch of talented OCs).

I guess the hope is we land Shane Waldron at OC from the Seahawks with the promise that he'll be given a chance if Flus fails again.

  10. So I've put in about fifteen hours now and I'm really struggling to get into this game. I feel like if I don't save scum, everything just goes to shit really fast.

Some of the battles I win first time, others seem literally impossible and I just have to try and find a way to avoid them.

I'm spending most my time running around the map aimlessly, just hoping to come across a fun mission or something that draws me in and I'm not finding anything.

I think I'm going to take a break and tell myself I'll come back to it...but likely I won't.
