Why are people so defensive about a game? It's perfectly acceptable to call it subpar when it clearly is.
Because some people paid full price + extra for day one DLC and when faced with the possibility that they've been sold a dud their options are to either trade it (for a good $20 less than they paid for it) in or find some positives out of it.
-
There's also the whole thing about it not being released in the UK until the 28th and I have no idea how many people with a Wii U in this thread are from the UK.
Even though it makes no sense because the Nintendo store allowed you to preload the game from around the 14th
-
So as it turns out a bunch of missing match types actually are in the game, but can only occur in Universe mode randomly and can't be manually booked.
-
So if you're bad at the game because you're underpowered you're basically stuck there because you can't level up?
-
And suddenly it becomes very obvious why no big club wants to sign Bony.
-
Well, at least they're consistent.
-
You can't really blame Liverpool though, there's no guarantee that signing a £30m striker would have solved anything especially when you consider Spurs messed it up the year before with Soldado.
It's still really funny though that so many of the signings have turned to shit, you'd have thought that maybe half of them would have played great but nope.

Might as well rename the club to Wogan.

Sounds like she'd love it then, what with Nintendo releasing basically all of those games except Pokemon for the system.
The only thing that might drag it down is that bar Xenoblade I don't think there's any JRPG games coming out for the Wii U, and the Wii was similarly barren for JRPGs
-
There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting a Wii U right now given that it has the largest number of exclusives and good games of any current gen console as of now (which will obviously change by the end of the gen), and depending on the age of your step daughter you could just remove the tablet and she'd be unable to break everything by purchasing something from the store or updating the console.
Just think up a list of games you'd be willing to play before you get it, never buy a console just for one or two games.

I love how Cena reacts in that Magic CM Punk GIF. What the hell is that?
What you saw was actually the reversed gif, the correct gif shows Cena overcoming what looks like certain defeat in order to regain his WWE Championship.

I don't think they can actually create a rulebook especially for the Premier League so I'm guessing it's just a scaled version of the current fine across the entire FA.

Oh my god it's this same circular argument all over again.
1) They're building the next gen games from the ground up.
2) So code won't just 'be there' because they're writing the code from scratch.
3) So we'll see less content than last year because the focus will have been on starting everything from scratch
Now whether it works or not relies on how it actually plays, if the core gameplay is good then it'll have been worth it. If the gameplay is terrible then the entire game is literally "wait until next year" where not only will they add more match types and whatnot but they'll also refine the new engine.

I'm down with that.
The problem with Ice Ice Outpost (and, to be honest, Yoshi Circuit, which has nothing going for it beyond "track shaped like Yoshi") is that it's sitting alongside six tracks that are totally incredible. Rainbow Road seems to be bigger (and therefore less claustrophobic) but it's still Rainbow Road. Wario's Gold Mine was the best track in Mario Kart Wii. And all four of the other new tracks are tremendous. The Master Cycle is probably my new favorite bike, which sucks because I suspect everyone is using Link now.
I'd still like to see them fix battle mode, but I never played it much anyway.
That's the only big complaint about the DLC I have, saying that the original Rainbow Road was only designed for 8 racers on the same track so it makes sense to make it a little wider to accommodate more players but it really loses the whole point of it being in the game if they're going to gimp it like that by making it super wide. There's already two Rainbow Roads in the game so making an easy mode one is silly.
Excite Bike and F-Zero are absolutely fantastic though, and Yoshi's track is great if only because there's barely any tracks in the game with as many quick curves so it's great for ruining other people's fun.

And of course that's the big problem.
There isn't ever going to be a perfect WWE game because it'd defeat the point of buying another game.
So we'll always be two steps forward two steps back, even though it's moved from Yukes.
Wait until next year removes NXT mode or something else to 'balance' it.

Just signed up for Giant Bomb Premium. Oh man, if you like the Giant Bomb guys and enjoy Let's Play's... there's a fucking lot of your moneys worth. I've stumbled upon a few hundreds hours of the guys playing Chrono Trigger and Persona 4!

Those Pikmin shorts are sadistic, I spend hours making sure only a handful of my little buddies die and here's a bunch of shorts showing pretty much a genocide of the little Pikmins
-
Other highlights
- Duck Hunt coming to VC with Wiimote acting as gun, no prizes for guessing who just got announced in Smash
- Some more info about Xenoblade X
- Splatoon trailer
- Shovel Knight and NES Remix are now available as of the end of the broadcast in the UK
- Pikmin short movies coming out + Pikmin 3 demo is now available
- Tons and tons of stuff about Amiibo DLC

There's a new Nintendo Direct at 10PM GMT so about 30 mins from now.
It should be covering some of the releases of early 2015 like Captain Toad.
-
So yeah, The Binding of Issac Remake is amazing.
6 hours in I still haven't beaten Mom once but it's just remarkably addictive, I can see myself putting 100+ hours into this.

I thought you guys were talking about Advance Wars
-
I'm assuming it's because publishers are legally obliged to buy back old stock that doesn't sell, hence the distribution problem because they don't want to make a huge loss by overshipping copies of games.
-
tbh by now I think we've made up our minds whether we're buying it on day one or not so how about we just leave it until the game is released rather than do the circular argument thing again.
-
Oh wow I had no idea that £18m record signing Darren Bent actually still played for the club, I thought he'd gone to the Championship or retired or something.

Well yes, but with most things it's easy to return them and receive a refund or trade of around the same price, when it comes to media then it's a mess because only a fraction of game retailers will allow you to trade it in for something else within a few days if you didn't like it, otherwise you're going to get taken for a ride if you broke the seal.
Of course this problem wouldn't have happened if journalism in the game industry wasn't so terrible that average games get average reviews BEFORE they're released, but instead we're left with reviews and games that are polar opposites of each other, with trustworthy reviews only coming out a week after a games release.
