  1. I watched 10 Years which is a movie about a bunch of high school classmates coming together for their 10th year reunion. Nothing extraordinary, but it was a nice little movie with a solid cast and decent acting.

Also watched The Campaign, which was so so. Zach basically played Seth Galifianakis and essentially everything he did was funny. On the other hand everything Will Ferrell did just seemed forced and really unfunny. I like Will but when he tries to do dirty humor in his movies (Step Brothers excluded) it just really does not work.

  2. Is it too much to ask that they finally kill off Quinn?

Did anyone else notice he was the asshole cop in Dark Knight Rises that was guarding the bridge at the end? What an unlikeable guy he tends to play.

I let out an audible "aw fuck" when that happened.

As for the title of the finale,

I'm hoping Doakes is the arsonist

I can't imagine anything worse the show could do than bringing back Doakes as a burned up victim or something who turns into an arsonist after all these years. At that point, I'd be done with this show

Yeah I guess "hoping" was a bad way to put it. After they killed off Isaak, I'm not really excited about the rest of the season. It would be insanely stupid if that's what would happen, but perhaps the trainwreck would be entertaining.

  4. Really?!

At one point in time those guys were number 1 and number 2 145ers in the world, and Faber was not number 1.

Yeah but at that point Kid had lost 4 of his previous 5 fights and clearly wasn't the same fighter he was 4 or 5 years ago. I think Faber's a much better fight at this point in his career than Yamamoto is.

  5. So just like everyone expected, the Lakers hired Mike D'Antoni.

Mike D'Antoni signed a four-year deal with the Lakers. Phil Jackson was "asking for the moon," accoring to source familiar w/ the situation.

Definitely did not see this coming. It was looking like Phil was a sure thing.

  6. Tapes would probably have a bit more lasting impact if I lived in the States but still, some of the scenes in it generally had me frightened.

Especially the opener where the killer punched the little girl out, the scene with girl scouts and the first scene with Cheryl in the basement where he yelled at her and held her head under water or whatever the fuck was in that sink.

The scene where they interview the girl they found with the dead bodies and she'd been mentally tortured to the point where she loved him was the most terrifying scene in the movie to me. That was so well done. That movie was great.

Just finished watching Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Not much to say except it was a very fun movie and a great way to spend 100 minutes. Perfectly ridiculous and over the top.

  7. Mystic River. I guess if you like ridiculous overacting, then this is for you.

The Ides of March. Just as I was getting interested, it ended.

Dances With Wolves. I really dislike Costner and this movie felt like it was 5 hours long. It was actually 3, was is too long as it is.

Prometheus. I didn't hate it, but it was the biggest disappointment in years.

  8. Looking at my DVDs and naming things that haven't been said in the thread so far:

    - Pretty much every Jason Statham movie.

    - Club Dread. I thought this movie was hilarious but I'm convinced I'm the only one.

    - The Final Destination movies. The last 2 weren't great but the first 3 were all fantastic.

    - House of 1000 Corpses/The Devil's Rejects. Critics shit on House of 1000 Corpses especially, but I loved it. It's even funnier to watch it now and see how fat Chris Hardwick was.

    - The Lost World. I don't get the hate for this one. It's not as good as Jurassic Park but it's pretty damn close.

    - The Men Who Stare At Goats. Thought this was hilarious but critics didn't seem to like it.

    - Walk Hard. The critics did like it, but this bombed in the theater and I don't understand why. It's fucking hilarious.

    - Wet Hot American Summer. I can understand why because the humor isn't for everyone, but this is one of my top 5 favorite comedies.
