Anybody keeping up with Marvel/DC books? What's some good new stuff to read? Particularly Batman/Batman-adjacent?

Thrilled the Ravens won today. No matter what happens next week, I just didn't want them to be one-and-done again.

Finally got Madden 21 because it was on sale. Fired up a Jets franchise, and I just think it's funny how, in the offseason, Frank Gore retired and, so now the offense is absolutely, politely awful. Didn't realize Sam Darnold is only a 70 overall. I've got a lot of work to do for this rebuild.

I really enjoyed Death Metal #1. The twists are really fun and Snyder/Capullo continue to come up with some crazy stuff.

What is the event where the Hydra Cap stuff comes together? I can't remember.
Secret Empire, I believe.

I really like this mod. The only major downside is that every contract is written so playing with small companies is extra brutal.

I like Secret Invasion a lot. It holds up.

For Spider-Man, the Clone Saga and Maximum Carnage are two that I always really enjoyed. Though, if you're not opposed, I do highly recommend Ultimate Spider-Man.
I really like Ultimate Spider-Man. I've also enjoyed Nick Spencer's current run.

I've always liked Brett Gardner. Just seems like a solid guy, on and off the field.

@Gabriel I love the changes the remake makes to Jason too. I just love the vision of Jason running as opposed to his usual stumbling walk.

I would have really liked that twist; that would have been clever. Instead, they just went with the same story as the original, which just did it better.
Fair, but the original did the same thing...

Rewatched the Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 remake yesterday. It's not good.

I've not seen the show the Boys but enjoyed the comics.
Anyway...anybody got an suggestions on comic stuff?
I want to check out stuff like Daredevil, Iron Fist, Deadpool, Gambit, X-Men in general really...i don't know. Any suggestions? Is the civil war story pretty good in comic form?
Oh, any places you can read them online? Or best place to purchase?
I can definitely recommend Gerry Duggan's run on Deadpool. I've enjoyed Chip Zdarsky's recent Daredevil run and I've heard Brian Michael Bendis' is good. Civil War is one of my favorite events, along with Secret Invasion, which I also recommend.
I'd suggest looking into getting a Comixology subscription or a Marvel Unlimited membership. Both offer big libraries of stuff that come with the membership.

I finally got around to reading The Boys Vol 1. I like the show better.

Rewatched Cabin in the Woods a few nights ago, every time I watch that one it gets better!
Love that movie. Now I'm in the mood to rewatch it.

I watched The Prodigy (a horror movie) over the weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. It's basically Chucky, but instead of a doll, it's a real kid.

Apparently an in-canon Secret Invasion series is in development.

Teasers for WandaVision and Falcon & Winter Soldier, and a very brief Loki clip that was probably filmed just for this.
It barely showed anything, but this really hyped me up.

Dodgers/Red Sox in "deep talks" about a Mookie Betts trade. Maybe it doesn't get done by the start of the season but it appears like it could be fairly likely.

I absolutely loved Crisis. Awesome crossover, and very well done. Just the tiniest annoyance though.
Did anyone else feel they were just a bit heavyhanded with the 'Thank You Oliver Queen' bits? Like, it was one thing to reference it and to have the characters react. But then to have the President do a speech, have a moment of silence with all the characters watching, and then have the heroes do their own eulogies which were basically 'Thankyou Stephen' with cover......I don't know. It just seemed too much to me. Could have been dialled back a little.
I agree with you and I think it's a fair criticism. I think they went out of their way to pay tribute to the founder, of sorts, of the Arrowverse. They definitely need do do all of that and hammer it in so much. In a lot of ways, Crisis felt like it was really trying to be Avengers: Endgame, including the way it handled Oliver. But whereas Tony had the one scene and the ending of the movie, and we saw some fallout in Far From Home, Crisis' finale really went too far with it. It was overkill.

One thing I was disappointed about:
Obvious why, but wish they had used a different movie character for a cameo. The movies Flash sucks. He's a hyperactive idiot with a crappy costume.
One thing I'm glad about:
Now that Earth 2 seems to be the proper Earth 2, maybe we'll finally get a decent JSA rather than the beyond disappointing version that was on Legends, since they did show Hourman, Dr. Midnite, and someone else with Stargirl. Also, hopefully Jay is there. And we still haven't seen the female speedster he mentioned that he was training.
Agreed about Flash but I kinda liked that because many fans, including me, wished Gustin played Flash in the movies and some DCEU connection was better than none IMO. I think the JSA will get the spotlight in the upcoming Stargirl series so they should be able to do it justice there. [/SPOILER]
I don't really know why I feel so let down. Is it really just that my expectations were too high? The crossover had stakes, impactful changes, it had a bunch of fun cameos and cool battles, etc. I think I'll like it more if I let it breathe/rewatch it down the road.

I'll probably go back and rewatch the whole thing through at some point but Crisis was a bit underwhelming because I had really high hopes. It's solid, around the same quality as the other crossovers. I liked the ending, though.

Pretty floored about the Astros. The past two years of baseball feels tainted. I have to wonder how much it influenced their playoff success, which is pretty frustrating as a Yankees fan.

Anybody watch Jim Carrey's show, Kidding? Started watching yesterday and I think it's brilliant.

Really enjoyed Multiverse of Madness. The horror elements were great, and some of the surprises packed in made me geek out more than I have in recent memory. VERY glad I didn't get stuff spoiled for me because it wouldn't have been as fun. Looking forward to Thor, that should be really good.
