  1. Ben Roethlisberger is now the only QB in NFL history with 2 500-yard passing games. He also joins an elite list of QBs to win 100 games (I believe every QB who has won 100 games and is eligible is in the Hall of Fame) and is the 4th fastest to do so.

Now if only Todd Haley would actually let Ben throw down field this offense might be able to hang 30+ on every team they play.

  2. Of course they do. But none of those fanbases also simultaneously promote the fact that they're the "best fans in baseball."

I have nothing against the Cardinals. They're not the Reds or the Brewers or even the Cubs. I respect the team. Their fans are a different level of obnoxious though.

  3. The Pirates were an above 500 team last year then at the all star break they just fell apart, they have actually been outscored by like 17 runs.

Not that pythag win/loss means anything this early but their record is the exact inverse of their pythag. They should have a losing record.

I'm hoping they either fall apart soon and make some trades for the future. But if that doesn't happen, I guess it wouldn't hurt to send Joel Hanrahan on his way if it means we can bring in a bat.

  4. The Pittsburgh Pirates are tied for first place.

Just wanted to enjoy seeing that sentence again. Don't worry, it probably won't last.

That being said - Jameson Taillon, Gerrit Cole, Mark Appel. In 3 years you guys will only need to score like, 3 runs a game to win the division.

Yep, it's kind of a weird yet exciting time to be a Pirates fan. And to think, people here want to run Neal Huntington out of town.

  5. I doubt he jinxed it. People were tweeting about the no hitter since the 4th inning.

People tweeted about it from the 4th inning onward.

    No hitter thru 5

    No hitter thru 6

    No hitter thru 7

    No hitter thru 8

    sahyder posts about it ONCE

    hit in the 9th.

He cost Verlander the no-no. End of story.

    Strong argument. You convinced me.

    Thanks sahyder!

  6. The Bengals had the 2nd best draft in the AFC North. Is this real life?

I'd say they had easily the best draft to non Steeler homers like yourself.

    No.

The Steelers got two first round talents, one top ten talent (best guard in the entire draft) and one of the best tackles in the draft in the SECOND ROUND. They also added a 3rd round NT in the 4th round. I like what the Bengals did but Zeitler was considered a second round talent by a lot of people, as a guy who watched Devon Still play a lot I think he's overhyped and I'm not sure Kirkpatrick is a can't-miss guy.

Rounds 3, 4, and 5 were really good for the Bengals but the Steelers dominated the first two rounds. No one else was even close.

I don't know. DeCastro and Adams are two great pick-ups. Adams would have been first round had he not done the pot before the draft.

Yep. Both guys should've been in the top 15.

  7. I'm hoping we grab another QB this year in the 4ht or 5th round. Dennis Dixon hasn't shown much of anything and our other options are too injury prone (Leftwhich) or old as dirt (Batch). Thank god we drafted an O-Lineman though. Now we can concentrate on the secondary :shifty:

Dixon is no longer on the team, he's a free agent. I don't have a problem with Leftwich and Batch as backups. They've got it done before. And if Ben gets hurt and is out long term the team isn't going to win anything anyway.

    ---

As for the first round, I think the Steelers, by staying put, had one of the top three or four best picks in Round One. I cannot believe Cleveland screwed up twice (okay, yeah I can). And the Bruce Irvin pick was hilarious.

  8. That is why I think it's absolutely stupid that the Browns are contemplating getting Trent Richardson with the fourth pick. I can't justify any running back going that high nowadays. Not when you have guys like Arian Foster leading the league in rushing after not even being drafted.

Not that the running game can't be crucial to a team's success but really, the last time I can remember a team winning the Super Bowl because of their run game was the 2006 Colts when Peyton was awful in the playoffs and the Colts' defense and running game carried him to the Super Bowl.

Not that Cleveland has to worry about that whole playoffs thing anyway.

So yeah I agree that there's really no point in taking a big time running back early in the draft. I'd like to think the Steelers learned that first hand with Rashard Mendenhall in 2008. As good as he can be if used properly, the team's success isn't ever going to be determined by what Rashard Mendenhall does. And looking at some of the guys on the board when Mendenhall was taken, the team could be in much better position if they hadn't taken Mendenhall than if they had.

  9. I assume he's addressing me again, I'm not sure why he thinks I'll be reading it.

I thought maybe you wouldn't be so pathetic as to pull the whole "BLAH BLAH I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU!" card. What are you, five?

I was trying to have a legitimate discussion, but apparently you're not interested in discussing something when you're wrong.

  10. Simpler translation: Why did I click "View it anyways"

Oh no, I'm on ignore! I'm sad.

So you can't direct me to any quote from any non-Gregg Williams player who said what you reportedly heard them saying?

    Is that what you're saying?

  11. Yep, so much more honorable when players are doing it just because they want to, right?

Translation: He was right so now I have to change the subject and go after a player that has nothing to do with this.

I have not seen a single player that didn't play for Gregg Williams who has admitted that he was on a team where players/coaches handed out bonus money for injuring players on the other team.

So no, this isn't something that happens with every team.

    ---

Do we really need or want to discuss the Harrison thing again? I've said it before that I don't think Harrison is intentionally trying to injure players. His hits on Mohammed Massaquoi and Colt McCoy were not worthy of punishment in my opinion. But I've also said that if he is stupid enough to not change his game when he sees that it's hurting his team then he deserves any punishment he gets.

  12. Okay, fuck that. Belichick cheats for years and gets a fine and loses a first round pick. Peyton employs someone who runs a bounty program and gets suspended for a year.

Peytons suspension is probably more fit knowing about it and doing nothing to stop it. He indirectly supported the bounty in the face of the leagues emphasis on playersafety. The league would've looked bad by gong easy on him

And Bill Belichick planned and organized spying on other teams. How is what Payton did worse than that?

And Meacon, that is what you get for forsaking the godchild!

He oversaw a coach that was literally giving his players money to try and end the careers of fellow players.

All the Pats did was videotape some signals. It wasn't like they stole playbooks, or bugged phones.

What the Saints and Gregg Williams did was way worse. And the NFL had to do something to make sure it never happens again.

This from the James Harrison fan.

Did you not hear pretty much every ex player, now analyst come out and say "Yeah, we had something like that going on when we were playing"

I never once heard any player say that the defensive coordinator, head coach, or GM knew about it and condoned it.

And I never once heard any player say that money would exchange hands for injuring another player. Good plays, yes. But injuries, no.
