  1. Thirty-time "Jeopardy" Champion Ken Jennings broke $1,000,000 on tonight's broadcast.

When "Jeopardy" announced they had abolished the five-time win limit last year, I knew it was only a matter of time before a really dominant champ came along.  However, I had no idea he would be this dominant.

How long do you think he can go?

6 more years until the car from Night Rider beats him in the finals of a 64 man Jeopardy tournament.

  2. Yes, Caol Uno does rock all kinds of awesome, but he wishes he was Genki Sudo. That guy...is the man. I love Uno, but Sudo is something else. He brings the Japanese atmosphere and what-have-you to UFC, his entrances are second to none, he is entertaining as hell, AND he fights for the power of peace and love...or so he says. It was pretty hard to tell how much love he had when he was pounding Royler Gracie's face in. And how great is it when he stands over his fallen opponent and prays for them after the fight is done?

  3. I wonder if this'll have an effect on some of the WWE's fanbase who haven't seen UFC yet.

Eh, probably not. WWE fans are used to non stop action (ok, maybe not) and are known to get antsy when the fight goes to the ground or there is stalling. But a minority of the fans might see some appeal in it. Plus, wrestling fans are used to larger then life characters on TV, there aren't too many well known "characters" so to speak in UFC. The only ones with some established sense are guys like Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, and to a lesser extent Chuck Liddell, Vitor Belfort, Phil Baroni, Randy Couture, Genki Sudo, and BJ Penn, (I say "lesser" because usually only people who watch UFC at least on a time to time basis know who they are). PRIDE, on the other hand, has more of a larger than life arsenal of fighters who are often draped in fanfare, some type charactization, or have well built repuation, Kazushi Sakuraba, Quinton Jackson, Naoya Ogawa, Mirko Cro Cop, Heath Herring, Wanderlei Silva, Fedor, Nog, and so on.

  4. Brett Hull scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in the crease during game 6 of the 1999 NHL Stanley Cup finals. This was back when the crease rule was still in effect. Its not like it was hard to pick out or anything, it was so damn obvious. Regardless, the Dallas Stars won the game and the series over the Buffalo Sabres in a true heart breaker. The crease rule was thrown out of the league the following season. Now that is a screw job.

  5. EBG - I saw Taking Back Sunday live with FATA last year, and they were terrible. That stuff isn't my kind of music to begin with, but their show sucked, in general - not just the music. But the problems were mostly sound-related, so at a different venue, they could sound better.

I hope they play a half decent gig, I'm actually starting to like them alot, granted I only started listening to their music less than a month ago. Things could change. The atmosphere will probably worth it too. My buddies go every year and always say they had a blast. I've only gotten into these types of music recently so it will be a new experience for sure. In short, this could be a make or break event.

  6. Heat man, you should head up to Barrie for the show. Chances are I'll be there so you know it will be that much more awesome. I've recently taking a liking to Taking Back Sunday so it will be cool to see them for the first time. Apparently they stole the show along with The Used at the Blink 182 show in Toronto a few weeks back. Shame I couldn't go.

  7. Colby really came out of nowhere, but I'm guessing all the casual female Survivor fans voted for him. I thought it would have been Tom, Rupert, Boston Rob, and Shiiann or Shiann or however the hell you spell her name. But then again, who likes her?

All in all, I thought this was an amazing Survivor, especially compared to some the recent ones (Amazon, Thailand, etc). Some of the people I wanted to go far didn't (Hatch, Rob C, Rudy, Ethan) and some people I hated went a lot further then I wanted them to (Jenna, Shiiann(sp?), Jeri) but its all good. It's probably too early for an All-Stars 2, but I can think of some good names...Dr. Sean (Borneo), Gervase (Borneo), Greg (Borneo), Nick (Outback), Elisabeth (Outback), Michael (Outback...never got a chance to win thanks to his fire incident and he was an early favorite to win), Frank (Africa), Sean (Marquesas), Ted (Thailand), Brian (Thailand), Alex (Amazon), John (Johnny Fairplay...Pearl Islands)....well, considering the list is mostly male, except for one, I'd say that's a start.

  8. Back on the old bored I picked Amber to win, but I certainly didn't expect her to ACTUALLY win. I think when you put all the tribe switching bullshit, this was actually and excellant Survivor. Of course, nothing will ever touch Survivor: Boreno and Survivor: Outback, but this ranks as my third favorite Survivor. Obviously the winner of the 2nd million will be Rupert...not that I have anything against the guy, but I'd rather see Big Tom win for some reason. And I still stand behind that fact that the show would have been more entertaining if Richard stayed until the merge. The guy is gold.

Off topic, I hope to pick up Survivor: The Complete First Season 5 DVD set as soon as a pay and put aside money for my prom shit, (tux, limo fees, hotel charges, plus the fact that I already paid for me and my girlfriends tickets...nearly cost my 200 alone on the tix!) Hopefully an Outback DVD set will be put out in the future.
