  1. I love Reily, stokerino and supergrass even more from this thread.

And I love Vas even more than before, I cried when I saw him crying. :( made me feel worse.

Vassell's a player I just warmed to from the start. I don't know if he was 100% fit to play tonight, but he was put on and he ran himself into the ground for us. The long ball game did him no favours but he worked hard.

When he cried it was one of those heartbreaking moments, I felt genuinely upset. But like I said full credit to him, because he had the guts to get up there and give it a go.

  2. My thoughts on the game; from how we played we didn't deserve to win the game. But Campbell's goal was fine, no questions.

David Beckham wasn't fit, I don't think he's been the same since Real Madrid. He just wants to go down at every chance. Other irritations: why we defended for 70 minutes, why we play long ball to two men who aren't 6ft.

Vassell shouldn't feel it was his fault. Anybody who steps up for the pen in that situation has a lot of respect from me.

And for Matzat and his "people with English glasses", I watched the game with my girlfriend's family, all of Portugese dissent. They supported Portugal and thought the game was over when Campbell scored, they saw no problems at all.

Matzat, I don't post in the graphics forum because I don't know anything about it, can you see how the same theory applies to you posting in here? You haven't a clue what you're posting about, you're just trolling. Any other member would be warned for it, seemingly you're not. I've no idea why.

  3. It's good to have committed players though. Pennant isn't a perfect player by any means, but Henry, Petit and others all needed a bit of fine tuning before they got going (not saying that they're perfect or anything).

Hopefully coming back and working with Wenger will help him. I was impressed with him at Leeds, and that hat-trick he got for us against Southampton. I hope he gets a chance.

  4. On the subject of Beckham, he has admitted that he wasn't really fit for the first two games and now it's feared he might not be fit for the next. To be honest, if you're not fit, you shouldn't play - no matter who you are. It does more harm than good. I'd rather have a fully fit Joe Cole or Owen Hargreaves or someone on the right than a half fit David Beckham who's clearly trying too hard to mask his fitness.

It's one of the things that hurt us in the World Cup, we took too many unfit players (Beckham again). It must be hard for the England captain to sit games out, but if he isn't fit I don't think he should start against Portugal. Of course he will start, the England team will remain unchanged.

EDIT: About England playing badly; they improved so much when they actually controlled the ball and passed it about against Croatia. Against France and Switzerland all they wanted to do was boot a ball in the air, but the long ball doesn't work when you have two fairly small men up front. Once they played a bit of football on the floor they got so many chances to get the goals.

Obviously they've still got work to do on set pieces, we haven't looked comfortable on them at all.

  5. I can't really name anybody who's been better Rooney. Though Zidane has been a big part of everything France have done.

I think Sol Campbell being hailed as best player of the tournament was a bit strong (even as an Arsenal fan), but I definitely have him as the best defender so far.

I've got to work all day Friday at a Chili Peppers concert, in a way I'm glad we're playing Thursday now so I can watch the match (even though it'll be harder than a tie with Greece might've been).

  6. I enjoyed it the first time I saw it, I caught about 5 minutes at the end of an episode once. Since then it's appeal has kinda dwindled. I wouldn't mind it carrying on, I drift in and out of it when it's on - it's something to watch when nothing else is being shown I guess.

  7. Sorry BigDirty, I'd missed that bit when it was posted. I'd agree that that is wrong. Some German's can't be neutral but some obviously can.

Matzat's are horribly biased against England for whatever reason he has, but I don't believe that to be the opinion of every German.

  8. Talking of "we" wen you are cretesising a neutral person dos not give you anny credebilety, you speak of yourself as a fan, of cause you are not able to mentain a neutral position. - it´s just a fakt that England had two major wrong decisions for them in both games, in the first one they even played bad enough to not tag advantage of that and yesterday in the second game the bad reffering stoped england from being run over, face it, untill the goal by rooney who MUST have been banned Switzerland dominatd you and did not get a penalty, winning after that is nothing great. - in a fair and square game you will have big problems, and croatia will slaugter you most likly if you play as bad as you did in the first two games. - AND YOU know that to otherwise you guys would not be pissing yourself in joy for not having to beat croatia, OMFG we only need a draw so it´s not bad if our players just stand around defending with luck. England, the way the played the first two games, will not survive in this tournament anny long time. You can´t see that because your a fan, fans don´t think, thats why they are fans.

That's why I take no notice of anything you post. As Agent Smith has pointed out, you really don't have a clue what you're talking about.

I'm sure if Germany had played badly and got a win against Holland or play badly and win the next game you'll be in here telling us how it was the greatest performance the World's ever seen.

  9. Most countries have some degree of hooliganism (particularly South America), but of the Europeans England's probably is the worse, it's pathetic and it'll harm our chances of getting to host a World Cup again. These people think they're the real fans because they'll fight for their nation, when they're actually not fans at all. I think most have problems and they should use harsh punishments to try and stamp it out.

Good football again today, all this football fits in very nicely with my time off.

  10. He had a second album and more songs released off that here (UK). I think he's stopped for the moment, either that or he's off touring or promoting himself in other countries. He seems to do that a lot, which is good because it gets rid of him from our country.

  11. Oh, and Radzinski + cash to Fulham in return for Sean Davis.  You heard it here first.

I personally think that'd be an awful deal. Radzinski is one of your best forwards, if not the best. His pace is hard for a lot of people to deal with, I don't understand why Moyes doesn't play him more.

Campbell is past it now, Ferguson is prone to injury and suspension, McFadden never seems to get a run as a forward and Rooney can go off the boil. I think Everton need Radzinski.

That's not to say that Davis wouldn't be a good signing though. I just think Everton should try and make it cash only.

  12. Tom's spot on, James mugged himself by moving to his left, which would lead you to believe he set his wall up wrong. The wall covers one side, James covers the other. He should have had the wall on the side it was (though maybe more to the side), then stayed on the side of the free kick and he'd have saved it. If it went in over the wall then it'd have to be a pretty good free kick and wouldn't be James fault.

Bit late for all this though, we should beat Switzerland and Croatia and make it through. Either way it's likely we'll play Portugal or Spain (I'd say they're still the two most likely to get through from their group). I'd rate the two about the same, doesn't really matter which of the two we play.

  13. A Life Less Ordinary, I really like it too. Picked it up in a 3 for £10 deal on DVDs along with Crouching Tiger and Swordfish, haven't watched the other two yet.

Plus it has a cracking couple of songs in it: Ash's 'A Life Less Ordinary' and Oasis' 'Round Are Way'.

  14. There are so many questions that'll be asked.

I think Heskey coming on wasn't that bad, he's a holding forward which is helpful when you're trying to keep a lead.

But we didn't need 2 men up front. He should have brought on someone like Butt to help hold the midfield rather than a second forward who was only going to play as a midfielder anyway. We were defending way too deep too early on.

But the positive is that we had France, the European champions, beaten (until injury time). If we can do that we've got a decent chance of beating anyone, especially France again should we meet in the final.
