  1. I'm going to log my year through Literal.

Currently reading: 'The Satsuma Complex' by Bob Mortimer, about 30% of the way through. It reads exactly how you imagine for a book from Mortimer - in fact, the setting, the character's background, etc, I'm fairly sure he has lifted verbatim from his autobiography 'And Away...'.

Having a good time with it so far, even if I highly doubt an editor would allow some of the non sequitur and wild similes from anyone other than him. I've seen comparisons to Spike Milligan. If anything, it's more like what would happen if Grandpa Simpson was coherent.

No joke on nothing, my sister and I have watched Santa with Muscles starring Hulk Hogan in person every Christmas (except 2020 for obvious reasons) since 2009.

Annual watches are Gremlins and Jingle All The Way.

Reflecting once again how Santa with Muscles is technically in my top 10 most watched films of all time. I have a film degree.

  4. Okay, so I have listened to the new Muse album a couple of times. It is... all right. Continues the trend of them being a parody of themselves; and the decent ideas in here are buried under a pile of overproduction again.

Their sort-of-idea-which-they-don't-fully-follow was to create an album where each track sounds like it's from a past album... which leans into the parody of themselves part nicely, but also means as a body of work isn't cohesive at all. The best track by a mile is the album closer, embedded below, that despite the title would be a great direction to go in - a slightly scuzzier, indie sound that uses those damn Queen pastiches more as a background effect.

  6. I'll answer slightly differently - when I find a double album I even remotely like enough to warrant re-listens, I always listen to them in one-go. I treat them more as a singular suite than a single album for whatever reason. So Stadium Arcadium by RHCP and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins are up there as my favourite albums anyway, but others like Opposites by Biffy Clyro or In Your Honour by Foo Fighters (despite the two discs being thematically different... okay it's the Foo Fighters, not that different) are only broken out for long car journeys.

Thank Christ I never got into Use Your Illusion I and II.

I’ve been planning on getting to more football this year and will absolutely be prioritising women’s football.

My nearest WSL team is Leicester and no Championship team nearby but Derby play just around the corner in the 3rd tier and just missed out on promotion last year, so will try to get by to watch them as much as I can.

And the Luxembourg game is on Stoke so have got tickets for that as well.

I need to find a team. Grimsby and Cleethorpes are in the second division of the sixth tier so them probably, but it would be nice to follow a bigger team. But it seems like Sheffield United are the only Yorkshire/Lincolnshire team in the first three tiers.

I think I'm more happier for the Women winning this then I would have been if the men won. The crowds just a different kettle of fish compared to the England men's team

Same. And they did it as interest nationally in the women's game reached its highest peak yet, not in the years  where the game was criminally underfunded/flew under the radar. It's the perfect boost and the women's game in England will be in the mainstream forever now.

I'm also far more interested in attending women's games over men's going forward too; again the crowds are better (...for now...). Attracting so many new fans, without the generational baggage of what a typical fan should be and how they should behave, it's a nice atmosphere (again, ...for now)

Next year's Eurovision will take place in the UK. I hope they let Ukrainian presenters host it. It ought to be a Ukrainian-centric event that just happens to be in the UK.

100%. Should be Ukrainian hosts, theme; everything.

Can't wait to be disappointed when I don't bag tickets for this.

    STOP YELLING AT NYLA'S ASS

Leaving in Statlander floating in the air at 38 seconds is a curious decision. But as long as it plays like a smooth version of No Mercy, which I'm pretty sure they're interested in, it'll be an instant win.

So sad. My thoughts go out to the band and especially Dave, so much tragedy on his career that he's had to experience. As much of a machine as this band is, i honestly question if they go on from this, or at the very least go on a long hiatus.

Personally, they definitely should go on hiatus. However, the likes of Dave Grohl will be probably thinking of all the crew who would go out of pocket if the show doesn't go on... such is the way with this large rock bands.
