  1. The exploitation genre (or sub-genres) of film have always been of great interest to me. Especially Blaxsploitation, and Cannibal Movies. I also really enjoy zombie movies, and am looking to get into a little bit of Nazisploitation. I'm looking for any and all recommendations, good or bad. I want to expand my knowledge on these genres of film, and am also willing to explore any other sub-genres that are recommended to me. Below is a list of the exploitation films that I physically own.

    Blaxsploitation:

    Black Belt Jones

    Black Samson

    Hot Potato

    Three The Hard Way

    Black Dynamite

    Cleopatra Jones

    Coffy

    Foxy Brown

    Hell Up In Harlem

    Jackie Brown

    Cannibal Movies:

    Cannibal Holocaust

    Amazonia, The Catherine Miles Story

Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat

I also own the standard zombie titles (the entire ...Of The Dead series, RotLD, Dead Snow, etc.)

I am welcome to any and all recommendations. Thanks to everybody who helps me out! (Y)

  3. Larry Clark's stuff seems to be really good, albeit slightly disturbing. I agree with the recommendation for Thirteen. Also check out Gummo if you can find it. It deals with kids/teens in a small hick town. It's quite a moving film.

  4. You can find picture packs on the GDS forums in various locations. :)

That's the thing, though. I searched for quite a while on the site, and still haven't been able to find a single thing. Where exactly should I be looking? Do I have to be a member of the forums?

  5. So, I've recently become fairly obsessed with watching cult/horror/exploitation movies lately (due to podcasts like Outside The Cinema and Cinema Diabolica). Some recent viewings include Gummo, Kids, Eraserhead, Cannibal Holocaust, Blacula, etc. If anybody could recommend me some really fun/good cult/exploitation/horror movies, it would be greatly appreciated, and would keep me busy for the next month or so.

  6. For TV, I've never sat down and watched a FULL episode of Friends, but I have seen a few minutes or half a show here and there.

I'm in the exact same group as you. Not a big Friends guy, apparently. I've also never seen an episode of The Office, Lost, Chuck, Veronica Mars, The OC, 24, etc. (Whatever the popular shows are right now).

I've never seen an entire Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. Nor do I really intend to.

I've never seen The Graduate, The Godfather I, II, or III, Airplane!, etc. despite being a huge fan of films.

I'll post more when I think of them. It's getting late, and I'm tired.

  7. Hey guys.

So, I thought I'd do something cheesy for Valentine's Day, because that's the kind of guy I am.

I'm going to make her a CD with some great love themed songs (and write her a massive note, etc.), but I'm a little bit stuck right now. I've been going through my iPod and making a playlist of some possible contenders. I definitely need some help with it. Here's what I have so far:

Lovers Of Loving Love by The Aquabats

    Violence by Blink-182

Going Away To College by Blink-182

    First Date by Blink-182

    Calling You by Blue October

There Is by Box Car Racer

You & Me by The Cranberries

When You're Gone by The Cranberries

Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band

    Dreamgirl by Dave Matthews Band

So Right by Dave Matthews Band

    Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton

    Face Down by Rediscover

Say It Like You Mean It by Rediscover

Punk Rock Princess by Something Corporate

I Want To Be The Boy To Warm Your Mother's Heart by The White Stripes

Out of that list, what should I get rid of. I realize that I'm missing tons and tons of great love songs, but I just can't think right now. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm welcome to any and all. She's into pretty much anything, which works out perfectly.

Thank you guys for the help. It's really appreciated.

EDIT: I've been looking through all the Gaylists to find some songs. Anything from there?

  8. Does anybody know if it's possible to sign in guests on NHL '08, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas. My little brothers would like to play with me every once in a while, and I really can't figure this out.

By the way, you can add to Xbox Live if you'd like: ColonCancer22

  9. So, I've made topics similar to this before, but they've usually gotten like 2-3 answers, and then have died.

I think we need an official recommendation topic. But that's just my opinion.

Anyways, I've been getting a little bored with my music lately, and EWB seems to have a good taste in music. You guys have gotten me into Ben Folds, Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky, Bear Vs. Shark, and countless others (with the help of topics similar to this, and Your Big Gay Face).

I'm into rock mostly. And most sub-categories of rock. Some rap is decent. I'm really not into punk, though. Hardcore and post-hardcore are good. Metal is pretty good, too. As long as it's not TOO heavy. And techno is awesome, from what little I've heard, anyway.

My favorite bands, according to my Facebook, are:

    Alexisonfire

    Basshunter

    Bear Vs. Shark

    Blink 182

    Blue October

    Brand New

    Breaking Benjamin

    The Chemical Brothers

    Clutch

    Coheed And Cambria

    Danko Jones

    Dave Matthews Band

    Death Cab For Cutie

    Eric Clapton

    The Hold Steady

    Incubus

    Jars Of Clay

    Jeremy Warmsley

    The Jimi Hendrix Experience

    Led Zeppelin

    Local H

    Manic Street Preachers

    Metallica

    The National

    Neil Young

    Pearl Jam

    Pierce The Veil

    Queen

    Rage Against The Machine

    R.E.M.

    Rush

    Seether

    Shinedown

    Sigur Rós

    Smashing Pumpkins

    Soundgarden

    Thousand Foot Krutch

    Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

    Van Halen

    Weezer

    The White Stripes

    The Who

So please, recommend me some good music. Maybe more people than just me can use this topic.

    Thanks guys.

  10. Ughhh. There is absolutely NO way in hell that The Dark Knight should be listed as "The Greatest movie in the history of film". Maybe in the top 50. Maybe even in the top 20. Just not #1! Annnndd. I really enjoyed the LOTR trilogy, and believe that they should be where they are now. Toy Story should also get bumped into the top 100. Classic movie.

EDIT: Fight Club, too. Fantastic movie with a great twist. I think EVERYONE should go see it.

  11. I'm not sure if that post was sarcastic... or if you're being serious.

If it's the latter, I'm not really sure what to say. I mean, everything was extremely hyped up, but everything delivered. If you've got 10 people in a room, and 9 of them say that this is the greatest movie they've ever seen, but 1 guy just didn't feel it, who is more likely to be correct in the eyes of the vast majority?

Seriously, this film wasn't just a comic book movie. It was action, it was comical, terrifying, gripping, enthralling, captivating, dramatic and one of the best crime films since the Godfather. I'm going a little overboard with the describing words, but you must understand the point I'm trying to make. This film will be accepted by the majority as being the best film of our generation, if not the last 50 years.... one guy in a room of ten who thinks otherwise was obviously looking for reasons not to enjoy it, or just wasn't looking at the things that made it such a great film.

I'm not a fan of the movie itself, but I can obectively say that Gone With the Wind is one of the top films ever produced. To be able to say that about the Dark Knight, a film which I am a very big fan of, thrills me to no end.

I was being fairly serious. I never said that it wasn't good, but I was just pretty disappointed. There was NO way that the movie was ever going to reach expectations for me. I was incredibly excited about it. I CAN appreciate the fact that it was good, but I'm just left with a "meh" feeling right now. Maybe because I haven't been feeling 100% lately, who knows. I might go see the film again later this week with my girlfriend, so maybe then I can really appreciate it. And I definitely wasn't looking for anything wrong with it. Like I said, maybe later I'll be able to appreciate it more, I AM sick. But oh well.
