Trinidad knocks out Mayorga

I think this is one of the best fights I have seen this year, but it might be because I am a big Trinidad fan. After all the crap that Mayorga talked and how he said Trinidad was nothing, I had a great feeling when he got knocked out and had a bruised, bleeding face.

Trinidad also had a good strategy, letting Mayorga swing his wild punches at will and he simply jabbed here or there. Mayorga was visibly tired by the 4th round, while Trinidad could have gone all 12. Then, when he saw openings for counter punches and combinations, Trinidad unloaded. I tought it was going to be it in Round 7 when Trinidad trapped Mayorga in the corner and nailed him like 8 times straight into the face. Bout ends when Mayorga visits the canvas three times in less than a minute in the 8th round and the ref stops the fight.

Winner by TKO: TRINIDAD!!

So..what's next for him?

His display of accurate power punching yesterday was legendary. As much as I dislike Mayorga, I felt bad for him because he took one hell of a beating. I'd love to see Tito take out DLH one more time before going after Hopkins again, but I could see him going straight after Bernard instead. Either way, it'll be a fight I anxiously await.

Honestly, he should beat De La Hoya first, just for the fun of it.

Then, he can fight Hopkins, I think he'll need just a bit more prep for Hopkins, as Mayorga just seemed like he'd try KO him early but instead gassed out, and Trinidad capitalized.

Tito being sucessful opens up a few more higher profile fights though, which is a good thing with Boxing in such a horrid state.

I remember before Trinidad lost to Hopkins...his plans where to gun straight for Roy Jones Jr in the 168 pound division...which means that after DLH or Hopkins, he could go to the 168 and try to win a title there. Trinidad said before his loss to Hopkins that he would like to win titles in four divisions before his retirement. Trinidad- Tarver anyone?

Also, Jones Jr said he was taking a break and then would try the Trinidad comeback? What do you think? can he suceed?
