Steam = the company that created Halflife.

Steam is the ghey new thingy which incorporates HL, Counterstrike, DoD and all the other mods and automatically updates them all and makes it "easier" to play online and stuff.

Worst thing to happen to the online gaming community since Condition Zero >_<

Think of Battle.net or WON, but programmed by an eight year old.

Steam is awesome. It's a smooth, easy to use content delivery system and multiplayer hub. Never had a single problem with it, makes playing Half-life and it's various mods much easier, especially if you don't want to get Gamespy or some dumb shit.
