Extreme Championship Wrestling 1999

No Minors, No Exceptions!

Extreme Championship Wrestling, the promotion that opened the doors for the more cutting edge type of entertainment; entertainment which was craved via the modern day professional wrestling fans. The two big companies in North America, World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation, were getting stale. The product they offered wasn’t the same, the matches were your typical big man brawls and the entertainment was lacklustre – something else was needed and something else is what the fans got.

The controversy of perhaps the most influential wrestling promotion of all time began in 1994 when Shane Douglas threw down the historic National Wrestling Alliance World Championship and told the world of professional wrestling that he didn’t want to be the champion of a dead promotion, he then proclaimed himself the new Extreme Championship Wrestling world heavyweight champion.

Over the years ECW went on to create some of the biggest names in professional wrestling, names such as Raven, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Taz, Sabu, Rob Van Dam and a whole lot more, paving the way for more athletic match ups containing some of the best foreign superstars, luchre libre’s to Japanese Martial Arts experts – ECW had it all.

Towards the end of 1998 we saw Extreme Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas engage in a bitter rivalry with the “Most Homocidal, Genocidal and Suicidal” superstar in ECW Sabu! The two battled it out in and out of arena’s, with Douglas wanting to keep his title and with Sabu, along with the “Manager of Champions” Bill Alfonso, wanting to gain the prestigious championship; but it wasn’t to be as Douglas called upon a man named Taz to take out his problem. Taz owed Shane three receipts, three receipts at the hands of Sabu. Taz paid his due and took out Sabu, taking him out of the Guilty as Charged Pay Per View main event and killing his hopes of becoming the ECW Champion, however, Taz had a surprise for the Franchise.

This is ECW’s journey from the year 1999 and onwards, would it strive to become the best in North America with it’s unique style and it’s unique fan base, or would it fall to the bigger promotions like others have in the past.

January 1999 – TV Recaps

Hardcore TV; 2nd January 1999:

Spike Dudley, Super Nova & Super Crazy defeated the Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido, Tracey Smothers & Tommy Rich)

Lance Storm along with Tammy Lynn Bytch (Dawn Marie) conducted an interview basically ripping into Jerry Lynn; who he would now be facing in singles action at Guilty as Charged because of Mikey Whipwreck’s injury.

Sid Vicious defeated John Kronus in a basic squash match.

Taz and Shane Douglas confronted each other in the ring. Shane offered Taz either a place in Shane’s stable, the Triple Threat, money or the “Head Cheerleader” Francine in return for Taz taking Sabu out of the Guilty as Charged main event, but the “Human Suplex Machine” declined and opted to take another route – Sabu’s place in the PPV Main Event.

In the show’s main event we saw Justin Credible defeat Tommy Dreamer when Terry Funk, the man who once acted as Dreamer’s father figure, returned and betrayed Dreamer – costing him the match up at the hands of Credible.

Hardcore TV; 9th January 1999

The show opened up with a confrontation between Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk, with Funk telling Dreamer why he betrayed him but the exchange of words soon turned into a ambush as Justin Credible and his lackey Jason attacked the “Innovator of Violence” from behind, sending him down to the mat with a vicious beat-down.

ECW Television Champion Rob Van Dam defeated Skull Von Crush in a non-title match; after the match up we saw Japanese Superstar Masato Tanaka emerge from the back to attack the “Whole F’N Show”.

Super Crazy defeated Little Guido in singles action when Guido’s fellow F.B.I members interfered, only to inadvertently cost Guido the match.

Lance Storm came out to the ring and continued to berate his Guilty as Charged opponent, Jerry Lynn. Lynn soon came out and the two enemies confronted each other, with Lynn chasing Storm out of the ring.

ECW World Heavyweight Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas and his Guilty as Charged opponent “the Human Suplex Machine” Taz were forced to team up with each other when they took on perhaps the most brutal and dominant tag team in ECW history the Dudley Boys. Shane tried to attack Taz during the match up, but it didn’t pay off as the Human Suplex Machine took Shane out and then went on to destroy both of the Dudley Boys, gaining the victory for himself and sending a message to The Franchise.

Hardcore TV; 16th January 1999

Steve Corino & Rhino teamed up to win a three way tag match, enabling the team to a tag team title shot on the following weeks Hardcore TV.

“The Franchise” Shane Douglas conducted an interview which was aimed towards Taz, basically it was for the sole purpose of hyping up the PPV main event.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Justin Credible’s lackey Jason despite Credible’s and Terry Funk’s attempts to cost the Innovator of Violence the match up in favour of their ally.

ECW Television Champion Rob Van Dam along with his manager Bill Alfonso conducted an interview from the backstage area. Van Dam informed us that he would be defending the Tag Team titles next week on his own because of Sabu’s injury; he and Alfonso then went on to Masato Tanaka whom received a verbal beating at the hands of the Whole F’N Show and the Manager of Champions.

Taz defeated D-Von Dudley (who challenged Taz in an attempt to avenge his fallen Half-Brother Bubba). Taz won the match up despite Douglas’ attempt to cost him the match.

Hardcore TV; 23rd January 1999

Christian defeated Chris Chetti in singles competition.

Terry Funk and Justin Credible conducted a backstage interview, the duo verbally attacked Tommy Dreamer, hyping up the now announced match up which would take place at the Guilty as Charged PPV: Tommy Dreamer versus Justin Credible.

Jerry Lynn and Super Crazy defeated Lance Storm & Yoshihiro Tajiri in tag team action.

½ of the Tag Team Champions Rob Van Dam defended the straps in singles competition against Rhino, who was also representing his partner Steve Corino. Van Dam remained strong throughout the match up, managing to fight of the “Man-Beast” and the interfering Corino but his efforts were thwarted when Masato Tanaka entered the fray, taking Van Dam out – allowing Rhino to get the victory, gaining the Tag Team championships for he and Corino.

Shane Douglas and Taz confronted each other in the centre of the ring and the confrontation soon ensued into a brawl as the show went off the air.

Hardcore TV; 30th January 1999

To kick things off we saw “Judge” Jeff Jones standing by with Sid Vicious. The two conducted an interview with Jones telling ECW that Sid Vicious was a monster and that he would destroy anybody who decided to step into the ring with him at the PPV, saying that they would be Guilty as Charged.

New Jack defeated Skull Von Crush in singles action.

Christian York defeated Roadkill.

Tommy Dreamer conducted an interview which went about hyping up his match up at Guilty as Charged with Justin Credible. Dreamer told us that he would make Justin Credible and Terry Funk pay the consequences for their actions.

We learnt that at Guilty as Charged we would be seeing a Tag Team Championship as Steve Corino and Rhino would defend their newly won straps against the team of Balls Mahoney & Axl Rotten and the F.B.I’s Tracey Smothers and Little Guido. In the main event of the show we saw Tracey Smothers come out with the victory over Axl Rotten and Steve Corino.

- Next Up: Guilty as Charged

---------------------------

I’ve decided to continue this from EWB III despite me, like a complete idiot, not saving half of the shows – so you’ll have to do with a re-cap. I have everything else saved and I will repost it gradually. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy. Remember: Feedback is ALWAYS welcome.

The show opens up with the usual credits before switching to the ring where we see Joey Styles standing with a microphone in hand. Styles basically tells us that tonight would be huge, per usual. He then moves on to hyping up the nights action as in the main event we will be seeing one of the top foreign talents in ECW, Masato Tanaka, go one on one with John Kronus! Styles then talks about WrestlePalooza, he says that ECW provides the best wrestling and that on Pay Per View this Sunday you will witness a <b><font color="#008000">Wrestle-Palooza</font></b>!</p><p align="left"><u><font color="#800080"><b>Doring and Roadkill vs. Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido &amp; Tracey Smothers)<br></b></font></u>A sheer brawl from the start. Guido and Doring went to the outside as former NWA Champion Tracey Smothers took it to the 'Angry Amish' Roadkill in the ring. Smothers backed Roadkill into the corner and hit him in the gut with a stiff kick, Roadkill stumbled forward straight into another kick to the mid-section and then a quick snap suplex. Smothers quickly took the opportunity to hook the leg and go for the cover, ...1..., Roadkill kicks out. Unusually, Tommy Rich and Big Sal aren't at ringside for the F.B.I for this one, but at ringside are Doring and Guido who are beating the hell out of each other. Guido takes Doring down with a leg sweep before picking him up and throwing him head first into the steel ring post. Doring hit with a thud, and bounced off awkwardly allowing Guido the time to climb up onto the ring apron, he stood there for a few moments but was knocked off when Smothers inadvertently threw Roadkill into his partner! Guido fell off the apron, and into the arms of Danny Doring who proceeded to hit Guido with a backbreaker! In the ring, Smothers hit Roadkill with a quick snap jab before going for another suplex, however, this time Roadkill fought out of it and kicked Smothers in the gut. Smothers fell back into the corner, the Angry Amish then ran and hit a big corner splash, almost crushing Smothers! Doring entered the ring and went up onto the top rope as Roadkill picked Smothers up into a backbreaker position.. BUGGY BANG~! No! Guido intervenes, he climbs onto the ring apron and pushes Doring off the top rope and to the outside! Doring goes flying onto the steel barricade. The scrappy Italian then enters the ring as Roadkill releases Smothers, Guido runs at him and his almost beheaded with a stiff clothesline! Guido fell down to the mat and promptly rolled out of the ring and to safety as Styles sung praises for the young stallions known as Danny Doring and Roadkill, albeit calling them weird in the process. Doring re-entered the ring, taking Guido with him. Roadkill went up top and came off with a flying elbow drop, almost crushing Smothers! <b>Roadkill then scooped Guido up into a backbreaker position as Doring resumed his mandatory position up on the top rope. Styles tells the ECW fans that without their support, ECW would be nothing, and it's all because of them and that's why tonight, ECW will deliver a spectacular event where rivalries will end and new battles begin! Speaking of new battles, Styles takes position at ringside following some hype about the upcoming match between two former partners Little Guido and Tracey Smothers.</p><hr color="#008000" size="1"><p align="center"><b><font color="#008000">Former Partners Collide<br></font>Little Guido vs. Tracey Smothers</b></p><p align="left">Out from the back first emerges Little Guido to a decent reaction from the ECW fans. Guido makes his way out from the back after a fresh face turn last week on Hardcore Television. Guido enters the ring after climbing through the ropes, he looks into the crowd before turning to the ramp as the music of the Full Blooded Italians hits, and from the back emerge the trio of Tommy Rich, Big Sal E. Graziano and Guido's opponent for tonight's event, former NWA Champion, Tracey Smothers. Smothers climbs into the ring as Rich waves the Italian flag on the outside, Guido stays backed in the corner, not taking his eyes of the F.B.I members. Rich and Graziano take their positions at ringside.</p><p align="left">Smothers instantly charges at the corner, but Guido steps out of the way and Smothers goes crashing into the turnbuckle. He turns, and Guido begins to unload on his partner with a barrage of rights and lefts. Smothers tries to block the onslaught, but can't, as Guido ferociously beats away on him. Guido hits Smothers with a chop before stepping backwards out of the corner. He then delivers several kicks to Smothers, who falls down into the corner. Guido then lets go of Smothers before climbing out of the ring, he walks straight to ringside and picks up a steel chair and slides it back into the ring. Guido turns and then goes after Rich, but like a coward, Rich steps behind Big Sal. Guido re-enters the ring, and is almost beheaded with a stiff clothesline from Smothers! Smothers picks up the steel chair and lines Guido up, as the former Full Blooded Italian member crawls towards the ropes. Smothers strikes with the chair, but Guido moves out of the way and Smothers connects with the ropes! He drops the chair due to the impact and turns to Guido, who is now to his feet. Guido springs into the air and connects with a massive dropkick on Smothers, whom into the ropes. Guido then runs up and levels Smothers with a clothesline, disposing of him, knocking him over the top rope and out of the ring!</p><p align="left">Guido climbs through the ropes and onto the ring apron, he then leaps off with a big double axe-handle, and connects with Smothers, knocking him down to the floor. Guido pulls Smothers back up via the air and throws him into the specially designed stage, which is more or less a big block which is level with the highest point of the ring apron, minus the ropes. Smothers lays flat against it, and Guido begins to kick at him - showing his hatred for his former partner. Here comes Tommy Rich. Rich begins to plead with Guido, Guido turns and just looks at Rich before turning back to Smothers and hitting him with several more stomps. Rich puts his hand on Guido's shoulder, Guido spins around and in almost one motion, he hits Rich with an hard right hand, sending him down to the floor - receiving a loud pop from the Extreme Championship Wrestling faithful! Guido picks Smothers back up and rolls him back into the ring.</p><p align="left">He follows and begins to stomp on the former NWA Champion, this match up as been nothing except for a pure brawl, signifying the hatred that Guido has for his former partner. Smothers begins to plead with Guido for mercy on his knees, Guido looks down at Smothers.. Low Blow! Low blow from Tracey Smothers! Guido falls down to the mat as Smothers, like an hyena, pounces on his pray - hitting him with several rights and lefts! Smothers climbs to his feet and pulls Guido up, straight into an hard DDT! Smothers crawls into the cover, ...1...2.., Guido just kicks out. Smothers picks Guido up once more and goes for another DDT,<b> but Guido charges Smothers into the corner with a shoulder thrust, he goes to back away but Smothers keeps a hold of Guido and climbs up onto the second buckle, he then leaps off with a big Tornado DDT! </b>Smothers goes for yet another cover attempt, ...1...2...., Guido just launches his shoulder up from off the mat once more! Smothers can't believe it, he's been forced into using moves which aren't usually a part of his arsenal, and he still can't claim the victory! Smothers raises Guido up from off the mat and sets him up for a suplex, he lifts him into the air, but Guido drops behind his former partner and locks his arms around his waste, Smothers battles out with a series of elbows. He then locks Guido on a waste-lock of his own, but Guido manages to counter and push Smothers into the corner. New Jack follows his opponent onto the ramp and begins to stomp on him. New Jack picks York up and hits him in the mid-section, before setting him up for a suplex. New Jack mouths the words &quot;Yo' wan' wrasslin'? You got it!&quot; Jack then proceeds to lift York into the air, he turns and drops York off the ramp! York goes crashing down to the hard floor as Jack begins to do a little dance on the ramp as the fans chant &quot;Fuck you, York! And then suddenly, the entrance music of Rhino and Steve Corino hits and the Tag Team champions make there way out from the back. Rhino walks down to the ring, snarling like a vicious animal while Corino takes a more careful, yet nervous, approach via walking down to the ring slowly behind the 'Man-Beast'. After the short montage, we cut to the ring where we see Joey Styles standing in the centre with a microphone in hand. Styles welcomes us all to the show, he continues but then is interrupted by &quot;Anti-Hardcore&quot; Christian York to the dismay of the fans.</p><p align="left"><font color="#800080"><b>Balls Mahoney</b>vs.<b> Christian York<br></b></font>York makes his way out from the back and bullies Styles out of the ring to boo's from the fans but is bullying ways don't last long as Balls Mahoney's entrance music fills the arena and out from the back emerges the 'Hardcore Icon' Balls Mahoney, however, York picks a microphone up and gestures for Balls to wait. York raises the microphone to his mouth and begins to speak.</p><p align="left"><b>York: </b><i>&quot;It's great, ain't it? Anyway, I beat him like a helpless sack of crap at WrestlePalooza, hell, I left him laying in the middle of the ring crying like a little bitch! Anyway, tonight I am going to continue my 'Anti-Hardcore' streak when I take on Balls Mahoney.. Balls.. Balls.. Balls. You're another shameful, or should I say, shameless, hardcore wrestler. In other words, I'm going to beat you for the 1-2-3 tonight in this very ring! Suddenly, Balls Mahoney enters the ring and runs at York - hitting him with a clothesline to the throat. Balls then begins to hit a series of stomps on York, whom rolls towards the ropes protecting himself with his arms. York then slides to the outside as Balls follows. Balls picks York up and drives him into the steel ring barricade with an hard irish whip; York goes down. Balls looks under the ring apron and pulls out a steel chair to the delight of the fans who begin to chant &quot;Balls!&quot; at the top of their voices. <b>York slowly climbs to his feet and Balls smacks him over the head with the steel! This is shockingly pleasant. I didn't know your name, so I only stopped by when I clicked the topic on accident. Now, I'll definately continue to do so. Your format is great and easy to read through without trouble, and I enjoy the writing, despite not being your average ECW mark.

Good work.

He can't.. <b>Suddenly, the lighting of the arena fades to black...</b></p><p class="tal" align="center"><i><b>Sleep with one eye open<br>Gripping your pillow tight</b></i></p><p class="tal" align="center"><i><b>Exit: light<br>Enter: night<br>Take my hand<br>We're off to never-never land</b></i></p><p class="tal" align="left"><b>THE SANDMAN! Credible releases Dreamer and gestures for The Sandman to come and get some and the Hardcore Icon does so. With a Singapore Cane in hand; The Sandman climbs onto the ring apron and enters the ring as the trio of Funk, Credible and Jason back off. Suddenly, Credible runs towards Sandman, who side-steps him. Credible turns and gets a vicious Cane shot to the skull, it breaks in half! Credible goes down to the mat with blood gushing out from his forehead. Sandman drops the Cane before running towards Jason and Funk, laying Jason out with a series of rights and lefts. Funk goes to nail Sandman with a right hand but Sandman blocks it and nails Funk with a Russian Leg Sweep! Sandman picks the steel chair up from off the mat and turns to Jason. Jason gets up.. SMACK! Chair shot to the skull! Funk quickly rolls out of the ring as Sandman picks Credible up. Sandman hits Credible over the head with the chair! Credible falls back against the ropes. Sandman then runs towards the self-proclaimed &quot;New Innovator of Violence&quot; and clotheslines him over the top rope and out of the ring as Dreamer slowly climbs to his feet. We cut to an intermission as Sandman checks on the bloodied Tommy Dreamer. <b>(70)</b></p><p><u><font color="#800080"><b>ECW Rules</b></font></u><font color="#800080"><u><b> Match<br></b></u><b>Big Dick Dudley </b>vs.<b> Rhino<br></b></font>AC/DC's &quot;Highway to Hell&quot; hits as Big Dick Dudley makes his way out from the back ahead of our opening contest. Big Dick his accompanied via D-Von, Bubba Ray, Sign Guy and Joel Gertner - the Dudley Clan. Big Dick enters the ring along with Bubba and D-Von who wait in the ring. Then, the music of Rhino hits as the fans immediately jeer loudly. Out from the back emerge the foursome of Steve Corino, Lance Storm, Tammy Lynn Bytch and Big Dick Dudley's opponent the 'Man-Beast' Rhino. The snarling, animalistic figure of Rhino enters the ring and immediately charges at all three Dudley Boys as Corino, Bytch and Storm stand on the outside with a look of shock clearly present on their faces. Rhino runs and takes Big Dick down with a clothesline before turning back to the Dudley Boys who respond via hoisting Rhino into the air, hitting him with a <b>Dudley Death Drop! </b>This one could be over with already! Suddenly, Corino and Storm burst into the ring - the duo go after the Dudley Boys and take them to the outside as Sign Guy and Joel stalk Bytch on the outside. Bytch quickly escapes up the ramp as in the ring Big Dick rises to his feet. Big Dick pulls Rhino in and sets him up for a Powerbomb but Rhino reverses with a big back body drop, sending Big Dick crashing down to the mat. Rhino falls back into the corner and begins to pound his chest in anger as Big Dick climbs to his feet. Big Dick staggers towards the ropes and Rhino sprints towards him.. <b>GORE!! GORE!! GORE!! STRAIGHT THROUGH THE FUCKING ROPES! </b>Both Rhino and Big Dick go crashing to the outside as the fans begin to chant &quot;Holy Shit&quot; loudly. After a few moments of Joey Styles questioning whether Big Dick and Rhino are still alive, the Man-Beast moves. Rhino returns to his feet as we cut to a shot of the Dudley Boys and Corino &amp; Storm fighting in the crowd with security trying to break it up. Rhino storms towards the announcers table and hijacks the wood, lifting it up and carrying it around to the other side of the ring. Rhino slides it into the ring and follows, setting it up before going back to the outside and lifting Big Dick up. Rhino climbs onto the second buckle as Big Dick staggers towards him. Rhino lifts Big Dick Dudley up.. <b>FUCK! WHAT THE FUCK?! RHINO LEAPS OFF THE BUCKLE WITH A FUCKING PILEDRIVER, THIS IS INSANE! CRACK! THROUGH THE FUCKING TABLE! The Man-Beast scares the EMT's away as he lifts the stretcher up, the stretcher holds Big Dick. Big Dick's out cold, he's busted open and he can't move a muscle. This is wrong. Rhino puts the stretcher against the turnbuckle in the corner as the fans continue to boo. Styles preaches at ringside, rambling on about how wrong this attack is, and indeed it is. Nobody can condone the action of this maniac! Rhino charges towards the corner like a stampeding monster.. <b>GORE!! </b>The stretcher topples over with Big Dick in it! Big Dick his out of it, Rhino has just absolutely destroyed Big Dick Dudley! <b>(48)</b></p><p>We quickly cut to the backstage area as Rhino leaves the ring, allowing the EMT's to check on the broken behemoth whom lays motionlessly in the centre of the ring on the stretcher. Backstage, in the ECW interview area we see Rob Van Dam and Bill Alfonso standing by. Fonzie holds a microphone, Rob just stands back with his usual casual, laid back look on his face. Anyhow, the match up starts with the two men engaging in an elbow tie up in the centre of the ring. Tanaka overpowers Guido and sends him crashing back down to the mat with a swift push, using his size to bully Guido. Guido gets straight back up like the plucky underdog he his and runs straight into a clothesline from Tanaka. Tanaka just chuckles before hoisting Guido up into the air and hitting him with a hard scoop slam. The match up continues this way for several moments with Tanaka using a variety of moves to keep Guido down on the mat and the end almost comes when Tanaka slams Guido down hard with a big Powerslam but the Sicilian kicks out on the two count. Guido mounts a fight back with a quick eye rake, Tanaka doubles over and receives a Tornado DDT from Guido. Guido covers Tanaka quickly, ..1...2..., Tanaka's shoulder just jolts up from off the mat. Guido tries to keep on top of his opponent with a DDT but Tanaka kicks out once more. Guido goes up onto the top rope and springs off with a missile dropkick, nobodies home! Masato moves out of the way! Tanaka points to himself and screams the words &quot;TV Title.. Rob Van Dam.. MINE!&quot; before hitting Guido with another quick stomp on his way to the back. York walks down to the ring not looking too happy as the fans boo him, he removes his shirt before climbing through the ropes and taunting the fans some more. York, who now features blonde hair, mouths the words &quot; It's for your own good, morons.&quot; York pounds his chest as &quot;Scapegoat&quot; by Fear Factory hits, the music of Jerry Lynn. Lynn walks down to the ring doing the &quot;I'm taking the title&quot; gesture with his hands and waste to the dismay of the fans who are not at all liking the new persona of Jerry Lynn since his bitter rivalry with Taz began. Lynn and York seemingly avoid each other in the ring as &quot;Natural Born Killaz&quot; hits, signifying the entrance of the &quot;Original Gangsta&quot; New Jack. New Jack walks down to the ring, busting a few dance moves as he makes his way down to the ring. He waits on the outside for a few moments before quickly sliding into the ring and taking it to Jerry Lynn, hitting him with a series of rights and lefts. York attacks Jack from behind with a clubbing blow to the back. Lynn then runs towards Lynn and strikes him with a knee to the face -- &quot;Beat me if you can.. Survive.. Survive.. Survive.. Lynn returns to his feet against the ropes, Taz then runs towards him and knocks him over the top with a clothesline before following him to the outside. Taz grabs Lynn and throws him into the ring post before following up with a forearm smash, knocking him down to the outside floor. Back in the ring we see New Jack and York exchanging blows with New Jack evidently coming out on top. New Jack hits York with an headbutt, knocking him back into the corner. Jack follows up with a turnbuckle clothesline and a quick bulldog. Jack covers York, ..1...2.., York kicks out. Back on the outside it appears as though Jerry Lynn has mounted a fight back of some sorts as we see Taz leaning against the steel guardrail with Lynn pounding away on him with rights and lefts. Taz fights back with a quick knee to the gut of Lynn. Taz then grabs Lynn and rolls him back into the ring. York fights back against New Jack, hitting him with a spinning kick to the jaw. York begins to taunt the Original Gangsta, <b>Taz grabs him from behind and slaps him in the Tazmission! York squirms, he reaches for the ropes.. Lynn breaks the hold up! New Jack climbs to his feet and grabs Lynn from behind and plants him with a Reverse DDT! <b>New Jack turns around, WHAM! SUPER-KICK FROM YORK! </b>New Jack his out of it! York lifts the Gangsta up and goes for a Northern Lights Suplex but Jack manages to somehow get out of it - <b>he pushes York into Taz, TAZ-PLEX!! New Jack leaves as York slides out of the ring, in the centre of the ring Taz confronts Lynn. Lynn climbs to his feet and the two men begin to stare each other down, both men stare at each other intensely as Taz picks the ECW Championship off the mat. Lynn shakes his head and arrogantly mouths the words - &quot;Living Dangerously, Taz, you're a man living dangerously - I'm taking that title because I'm the BEST ECW has to offer!&quot; And with that, Hardcore TV fades to a close. <b>(70)</b></p><p><i>Overall Show Rating -- </i><b>65</b></p>

At Living Dangerously these two immense forces will collide, and of course, they can only be one winner here in Extreme Championship Wrestling so you can imagine what is going on in these two men's heads, to get the gold they will do absolutely <i>anything</i> including gaining themselves an early advantage, psychology and physically.</p><p><i>' The Innovator of Violence ' </i>Tommy Dreamer has found a friend in The Sandman. ECW Hardcore TV

Date: 20th March 1999

Your Hosts: Joey Styles & Cyrus ‘The Virus’

“This is Extreme” echoes throughout the Southern Philadelphian bingo hall known as Viking Hall better known as the ECW arena by professional wrestling fans. After the opening montage we instantaneously switch to the ring to where the “Voice of ECW” Joey Styles stands, with a microphone in hand and a sheet of paper in the other. Styles, who is perhaps one of the best announcers in the industry today, refers to his paper before beginning to speak.

”Hello, and welcome to ECW!” Styles proclaims in his naturally high pitched voice. ”Tonight we have got a treat for you! Tonight we will be seeing a HUGE Tag Team title match as in the main event we will be seeing the champions, Canadian Connection members, Rhino and Steve Corino take on the make-shift team of the “Original Gangster” New Jack and the “Giant Killer” Little Spike Dudley!”Styles pauses for a moment, allowing the fans to let out a pop.

”Also, The Sandman will be in action since his RETURN to EC-Dubbaya when he takes on Full Blooded Italian Tracey Smothers! And also, Rob Van Dam will go one on one with another F.B.I member in Tommy Rich, but the ECW Television title will not be on the line!” A “Joey!” chant breaks out. Styles simply smirks before resuming. ”Enjoy the show, I’m sure you will because we’re Extreme Championship Wrestling and we have no minors and no exceptions!”

With that Styles interjects himself from the ring and takes his position at ringside along with the despicable Cyrus ‘The Virus’ who proclaims the fans as a bunch of “Disgusting, uneducated, troglodytes” for cheering Joey as the F.B.I anthem starts up on the loud speaker.

ECW Rules

The Sandman vs. Tracey Smothers

We start things off with a traditional ECW-style all out hardcore brawl with The Sandman in action. Smothers, who plays the gimmick of an Italian stooge, makes his way out from the back along with Sal E. Graziano who cheers his man on at ringside while The Sandman makes his way through the crowd as Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” plays to a almost deafening pop from the fans. Sandman enters the ring with his Singapore Cane, clearly not in the mood for any fun and games with the F.B.I tonight. Smothers attacks immediately after the bell, trying to wear Sandman down with a series of clubbing forearms but The Sandman stays up, he won’t go down. Smothers backs off a little bit and the mistake ends up costing him, as when he returns to his opponent he receives a kick to the gut immediately putting him on the back-peddle. Sandman moves in and knees Smothers in the face before throwing him into the corner. Sandman follows up with a turnbuckle clothesline, he then turns, and throws Smothers down to the mat while he retrieves his Singapore Cane. Smothers climbs to his feet but when he sees The Sandman holding the Cane he immediately drops to his knees to plead for mercy, but I guess this is “Arriva-Derci” as Sandman powerfully hits Smothers over the skull with the Cane! Smothers doesn’t go down, instead he looks extremely dazed. The Sandman then pulls Smothers up to his feet and holds him for a few moments as the fans chant “You fucked up!” at Smothers. White Russian Leg Sweep! Sandman has just disposed of Tracey Smothers with the White Russian Leg Sweep! It’s got to be over! Referee Jim Mollineaux dives down onto the mat and makes the count as Sandman nonchalantly covers his opponent; …1…2…3! The Sandman picks up an impressive victory!

Sandman proceeds to celebrate in the ring as “Enter Sandman” flares up to the delight of the fans. Sandman raises the cane into the air as Sal E reaches into the ring, pulling his partner in crime out after the beating he received. Sandman continues to celebrate until the threesome of Justin Credible, Terry Funk & Jason arrive to spoil the party. Credible enters the ring first, but Sandman turns and sees him but he foolishly keeps his focus on Credible, allowing the other two scavengers to attack from behind like hyena’s picking away on their pray. Sandman tries to fight the three men off, and does so successfully until the numbers game catches up with him. Credible leaps into the air and knocks Sandman down with a wheel kick to the face! With Sandman down the trio continually stomp on him. Credible picks up the cane as Funk and Jason lift him up to his knees. Then Credible swings back with the Cane, almost like he is using it as a baseball bat in a game of baseball, before swinging and connected with Sandman’s skull which substitutes the ball. Sandman naturally goes down to the mat like a sack of bricks as the fans jeer at their fullest. Joey Styles condemns the three men as “vicious hyena’s!” as Cyrus applauds them for their actions, calling them smart. The Sandman his down and out in the centre of the ring, no man deserves this punishment.

WINNER - The Sandman

OR – 57

(Bookers Notes: Simply what it was expected to be, a match designated to put The Sandman over giving him so credibility before the up-and-coming Living Dangerously Pay Per View while, at the same time, to build up the feud giving it a more combustible feel and putting over the pack of heel’s like a pack of hyena’s looking for their pray; weakening their opponents to get a natural advantage)

Straight after the match up we instantly switch backstage as Styles informs us of an altercation, however, when he reach our area it is too late as we see wrestlers and medics gathering around the body of ECW World Champion Taz who lays against the wall in a crumpled heap leaving a case of Who dunnit? for the ECW locker room, and I'm sure when Taz finds out their will be hell to pay for the attacker. Anyway, medics end up lifting Taz up onto a stretcher and carrying him off down the corridor as the ECW wrestlers are left pondering the attacker, or, pulling the invisible veil over themselves and disguising themselves as innocent bystanders who didn’t see a thing. (OR: 85)

Non-Title Match; ECW Rules

Rob Van Dam vs. Tommy Rich

Rob Van Dam starts things off with a few arrogant taunts to the former NWA World Champion in Tommy Rich. Anyway, the two finally lock up and we see the younger of the two, Rob Van Dam, take control with a swift headlock. Rich ends up reversing via sending his opponent into the ropes with an irish whip but Van Dam comes right back and knocks Rich down with a forearm smash. Van Dam continues the assault via throwing Rich over the top rope and out of the ring. Big Sal helps Rich up on the outside but RVD goes up top and leaps off the top rope with a big cross-body, knocking both Sal and Rich down. Van Dam pulls Rich up and throws him back into the ring as Bill Alfonso retrieves a steel chair from ringside. Van Dam misses with a spinning kick which buys Rich some time. Rich fights back and ends up hitting Van Dam with a big backdrop. Van Dam gets up clutching the back of his head as Rich continues the assault. However, albeit the stomps, Van Dam manages to pull himself up. Rich lifts the chair up and throws it at Van Dam, but Van Dam catches and throws it right back to the F.B.I leader who catches. Van Dam then launches a spinning kick, but Rich evades. Rich turns around and ends up getting a Super-Kick to the jaw from the ”Whole F’N Show”! Van Dam does the thumb taunts before going up top to the delight of the fans. Van Dam then springs off the top rope with an inch perfect Five Star Frog Splash, connecting with Tommy Rich! Van Dam rolls around the ring for a few seconds to sell the impact before crawling back over Rich and hooking the leg; …1…2…3! Tommy Rich was impressive, but the TV champion was too much for him on this occasion!

Van Dam climbs to his feet and takes the Television championship as Bill Alfonso enters the ring. Van Dam does the thumb taunts with the title over his shoulder as Alfonso frantically hops around the ring with his whistle in his mouth, blowing it like a mad-man. Van Dam just smirks until suddenly he goes crashing down to the mat! Alfonso climbs out of the ring quickly as the camera pans around to reveal Stevie Richards, the former ECW Flock member back in 1997! The fans boo as Richards, who brushes his long ragged hair back after stroking the thick lining of stubble which consumes his face. Richards, who wears a pair of blue jeans and stands topless, nailed RVD with a steel chair! Richards drops the chair and lifts the TV Champion up before lifting him into the air and twirling around, nailing him with a Spinning Brainbuster! Rob lays out on the mat as Richards returns to his feet, flexing his muscles with an insane look on his long face. Richards smirks, gritting his teeth as the fans chant the words “Fuck you Stevie!” loudly as Styles goes hyper at ringside, hyping the re-debut of Stevie Richards as we cut to a brief transmission.

WINNER – Rob Van Dam

OR – 57

(Bookers Notes: Rich and Van Dam didn’t really but on the blockbuster I expected them to, possibly because Rich his in his early fourties, obviously not in his prime anymore. Anyway, to the after match festivities and the debut of Stevie Richards. We signed Stevie to a contract earlier on in the year. We sent him down to our Development Territory, The School of Hard Knocks, to brush up on his ring work. Despite being absent for so long Richards does indeed seem over with the crowd, and hopefully this will continue as we at ECW feel that Stevie can become a big player in the company.)

ECW Tag Title Match

Steve Corino & Rhino © vs. New Jack & Spike Dudley

New Jack and Spike made their way out first with Spike dressed up as a gangster to fit in with his partner for tonight’s main event. Rhino and Corino then make their way out to jeers from the fans. Rhino doesn’t look too pleased as usual, snarling like a vicious animal. He and Corino drop the belts as their opponents meet them halfway on the aisle. The faces take control, with Spike battling with Corino – knocking him back into the barricade and then knocking him over the top rope with a hard right to the face. New Jack somehow finds himself with a steel chair which one of the fans handed to him. New Jack cracks Rhino over the skull with it, and the Man-Beast just doubles over before standing up straight once more. New Jack hits him in the gut wit the steel before grabbing him via the hair and throwing him into the steel barricade. Spike and Corino are now in the ring. The two lock up, with Spike seemingly taking control of his opponent with a headlock but Corino reverses with a high backdrop which sends Spike crashing down to the mat with impact. Corino continues the assault with a series of mounted punches but that ends when New Jack breaks it up. New Jack lifts Spike up and kicks Corino in the gut before dropping him with a quick DDT. New Jack covers Corino; …1…2, Rhino breaks the count up. Rhino backs off into the corner as Spike turns around, Rhino locks his eyes on Spike before charging out of the corner and taking out his opponent with a massive Gore! Spike goes flying thanks to the Gore from Rhino! Rhino turns and has to contend with New Jack, who takes it to the Man-Beast with a series of rights and lefts. The match up continues like this with the two brawling with neither men having a clear advantage until Steve Corino attacks New Jack from behind with a low blow. Rhino then pulls New Jack in and lifts him into the air before driving him down to the mat with a thunderous powerbomb! Rhino covers New Jack, but the “Original Gangster” kicks out on two to the amazement of the fans. Rhino shakes his head with a pissed off look on his face, he turns around and his met with a kick to the gut from Little Spike Dudley! Spike then runs towards the turnbuckle, runs up and leaps off with the Acid Drop! Rhino his out of it! Steve Corino his all alone with New Jack and Spike! Corino’s eyes widen in shock, he can’t believe what he sees as the two men stare down on Corino who slowly backs away into the ropes. Suddenly, Lance Storm & Christian York enter the ring behind the faces! York attacks New Jack from behind with a forearm smash before throwing him into the ropes and clotheslining him over the top. York follows to the outside as Spike turns to Storm and hits him with a right hand. Spike goes to kick Storm but Storm catches and spins Spike Dudley around, Corino quickly hooks the leg and lifts him into the air before nailing a Spinning Fisherman’s Suplex! Spike his out of it, he’s out cold! Rhino revives on the outside as Storm raises his arms into the air in the ring to jeers from the fans who are not liking the outcome of this match at ALL. The referee counts as Corino keeps the bridge hooked; ..1…2…3!! Rhino and Corino retain their tag team titles thanks to their partner in crime Lance Storm and that damn ‘Anti-Hardcore’ Christian York!

Suddenly, as the Canadian Connection celebrate, and York and New Jack find themselves brawling in the crowd; Highway to Hell by AC/DC fills the arena to a decent pop from the fans and out from the back emerge The Dudley Boys! The Dudleys rush down to the ring as the trio of Canadian’s escape and retreat onto the aisle along with Tammy Lynn Bytch. The Dudley’s pace around the ring before finally checking on their brother Little Spike Dudley who lays prone in the ring.

WINNERS – Steve Corino & Rhino; Still Tag Team Champions

OR – 80

(Bookers Notes: The Canadian Connection are clearly growing on the fans with their arrogance and heel tactics. The fans now see Lance Storm the second biggest heel in the company with the Tag Team champions just outside of the top five. Their feud with the Dudley Boys will probably escalate for several more months. Big Dick Dudley has checked into rehab due to personal problems which we do not wish to reveal because of the confidence Big Dick had in us, so the attack last week where Rhino demolished Big Dick could be the last time we see the menacing Dudley Boy on our TV screens for a long time, until he sorts his problems out.)

The Dudley’s pace around the ring, with D-Von still checking on Spike who slowly awakens to see his half brothers checking on him. Spike’s eyes widen in shock due to him receiving help from the most unlikely of all people. Bubba retrieves a microphone and walks into the centre of the ring as D-Von helps Spike up to his feet. The Canadian’s are now halfway up the aisle, and are still looking at the ring at their enemies.

Bubba – ” Listen up, mother-fuckers! I’m sick to fuckin’ death of you three screwin’ with us! We had the Tag Titles won at Wrestle-Palooza, you SCREWED us! You demolished Big Dick, you took him out.. Now you screwed Spike fuckin’ Dudley out of the Tag Titles! You three really should jus’ get your asses down here so we can beat ‘em! C’mon, shit-heads! Get the fuck down here, NOW! “

Corino and Storm shake their heads in unison as Rhino storms down to the ring, until he is restrained by his partners in the Canadian Connection.

Bubba – ” Is it only your boy Rhino with balls? Fuck, you two really are a pair of pussies.. Ain’t that right, D-Von? “

D-Von – ” Oh testify, brother! “

Bubba takes the microphone back off D-Von.

Bubba – ” Alright, al-fuckin’-right.. Because you three are a bunch of pussies we’re gonna make a challenge, no, in fact, we’re goin’ back to the Executive’s office an’ getting’ ourselves a match with you three at Livin’ Dangerously! Yeah! After all, you three fucks are Livin’ Dangerously after fuckin’ with the Dudley Boys.. “

D-Von nods in agreement.

D-Von – ” Oh brothers, for you have sinned.. Thou shall not lie.. Thou shall not steal and thou shall not FUCK WITH THE DUDLEYS! Oh testify! “

The fans pop chanting “Fuck ‘em Dudleys!” as the show fades to a close with Joey Styles screaming, saying that the Dudleys will get payback on the Canadian Connection at Living Dangerously! (OR: 71)

Then, <b>Joey Styles</b> enters the ring with a microphone in hand. He welcomes us to the show before going on to hype up tomorrow's pay per view event<font color="#800000"><b>Living Dangerously</b></font>. He informs us that in tomorrow's main event we will see the World Heavyweight Champion Taz take on the challenger Jerry Lynn. Tajiri takes control with a few stiff kicks but Nova eventually bounces back. Nova hits Tajiri with a quick suplex before backing his opponent off into the corner. Nova goes up onto the second buckle and locks Tajiri in a headlock before springing off with a massive Tornado DDT. Nova couldn't capitalise though, as he also landed awkwardly - leaving both men in a heap in the centre of the ring. Nova eventually made the cover but a little too late, as Tajiri kicked out on two. The two continued to battle it out, displaying some great technical ability. Nova eventually knocked Tajiri out of the ring. Tajiri fell into the barricade as Nova went up top, then, Nova leaped off with a big flip splash but Tajiri wisely evaded. Nova went down hard to the floor, giving Tajiri the opportunity to take control and he wisely did via rolling his opponent back into the ring and then backing him against the ropes. Tajiri then locked Nova in the Tarantula submission. After a few moments of agony for Nova, Tajiri finally released the hold but he damage was done. Nova stayed on his knees and <b>Tajiri capitalised with the Kick of Death, right to the temple of Super Nova</b>. Tajiri then covered his fallen opponent; ..1...2...3. He, <b>Tammy Lynn Bytch</b> and the Tag Team Champions <b>Steve Corino</b> &amp; <b>Rhino</b> came out from the back to boo's from the fans and a chorus of &quot;Fuck off back to Canada!&quot; chants, which are pretty unique. Storm just shook his head and entered the ring along with his fellow Canadian Connection members, and the only American in the group Tammy Lynn (Dawn Marie) who probably doesn't realise what's happening due to her ditzy-ness. Steve Corino retrieved a microphone and gave it Storm, who began to speak.</p><p align="left"><b>Storm - </b><i>&quot; You people really are pathetic, aren't you? We are the best athletes in this damn company and you go about jeering us? You should really get your priorities right, shouldn't you? I mean, I'm Lance Storm, one of the greatest wrestlers to come out of Canada.. Rhino and Steve Corino, my fellow Canadian's, are the ECW Tag Team Champions and you still boo us? I thought ECW was about athletes and wrestling, but I'm obviously wrong as you moron's prefer hardcore blood-fest's with the likes of D-Von and Bubba Ray controlling the show, smashing people through tables and hitting people with weapon's but that doesn't work. You see, my man Rhino over here did exactly the same to Big Dick Dudley, he absolutely destroyed him and that's what we plan to do to the Dudley's! &quot;</i></p><p align="left">The fans continue to boo, shouting &quot;Shut the fuck up!&quot; at Storm.</p><p align="left"><b>Storm - </b><i>&quot; Ugh, be quiet! Who comes near us talent-wise? Not the Dudley's, not Taz.. NOBODY, that's who! You people should really do yourselves a favour and recognise that, recognise the future of this industry.. Three young, talented athletes.. You've got Lance Storm, you've got Rhino.. Disrespect that guy an' he'll tear you a new asshole, and you've got ME.. Storm hands her the microphone and she begins to speak, well, she tries but her voice is drowned via the &quot;show us your tits&quot; chants from the male fans. You see, it will be Rhino, Steve Corino and Lance Storm taking on D-Von and Bubba Ray.. &quot;</i></p><p align="left">Styles lets out a loud screeching &quot; What!?&quot; at ringside, before questioning whether it will be a handicap match up.</p><p align="left"><b>Dawn Marie - </b><i>&quot; You see, nobody will step up to team up with the Dudley's because they FEAR the Canadian Connection.. The &quot;Original Gangsta&quot; stands in the alley as the camera zooms up towards him. New Jack stare directly into the camera and begins to speak as discarded rubbish blows through the streets.</p><p align="left"><b>New Jack - </b><i>&quot; 'Dis is where I grew up, where I was born 'n bred.. This is Stevie Richards return match to Extreme Championship Wrestling after a lengthy absence. The Television title is on the line. We start things off with a tie up in the centre of the ring, Richards takes control but Van Dam kicks Richards in the head. Richards releases the hold and backs away. Van Dam runs towards him and fakes a Spin Kick, and instead he goes for a leg sweep and knocks Richards down to the mat. Van Dam continues the assault with a series of rights and lefts to Stevie Richards. Richards rolls towards the ropes, under the bottom rope and out of the ring to shrug off the right hands he received to the face. Richards staggers around on the outside. Van Dam then sprints towards the ropes and leaps over with a big vaulting body press, landing on Richards! Both men go down to the floor. Van Dam quickly returns to his feet and re-enters the ring. Richards slowly follows. The match up continues with a series of lock ups and counters until Richards breaks a Rob Van Dam sleeper up with a elbow to the face. Van Dam turns around clutching his jaw, buying Richards some time. Van Dam turns and receives a clothesline from Stevie. Bill Alfonso hops onto the apron sensing that Richards has the advantage, but Richards sees him and snatches the Television championship off him before pushing him down to the hard outside floor! Richards then turns around as Van Dam returns to his feet, <b>SMACK! Richards just nailed RVD with the TV title belt! </b>Richards could have it won, right here! Richards covers his opponent, the Television champion; ..1...2..., Van Dam JUST gets the shoulder up to the amazement of Stevie Richards and the fans. Richards picks the belt up once more and lines Van Dam up for another belt shot to the face. RVD gets up, Richards swings the championship but Van Dam goes under Richards' arm. Richards turns and receives a spinning kick to the face, knocking him down! Van Dam then does the thumb taunts and groggily climbs up onto the top rope. <b>Van Dam comes off the top rope with a Five Star Frog Splash, but Richards shoots his knees up from off the mat! </b>Van Dam falls back clutching his ribs as Richards climbs to his feet. Richards grabs Van Dam and plants him with a DDT! Richards hooks the leg, ...1...2..., Van Dam somehow kicks out once more! How the hell does he manage it?! Richards can't believe it! He shakes his head in disbelief! Richards goes to the outside and pushes a cameraman of the chair he sits on before picking the steel up and re-entering the ring. Richards raises his arms into the air as he lines the Television Champion up for a chair shot. Van Dam's almost year long title reign could come to an end right here! Van Dam climbs to his knees as Richards raises the chair over his head! Wait, Richards his stopped in his tracks! Alfonso grabs the chair! Richards turns around and snatches the chair back off Alfonso and pushes the &quot;Manager of Champions&quot; down to the mat! Richards turns.. <b>VAN DAMINATOR!! </b>Rob Van Dam just sprung to life and nailed Stevie Richards with the Van Daminator! Van Dam raises his arms into the air and stumbles around the ring.. Wait.. What the hell?! <b>Masato Tanaka</b> slides into the ring! <b>Van Dam turns around straight into a huge Powerslam from Tanaka! </b>Richards slowly climbs to his feet. Tanaka helps him up and throws him into the corner with a powerful irish whip. He follows up with a turnbuckle clothesline before grabbing Richards in a Reverse DDT type position before going up onto the top rope.. <b>Diamond Dust from Tanaka! </b>Masato Tanaka has just left both Rob Van Dam and Stevie Richards laying flat on the mat! The referee calls for the bell, none of these men can continue thanks to this huge disruption in the form of Masato Tanaka. The fans boo loudly as Tanaka raises his arms up into the air to the dismay of the fans as we cut to a brief transmission.<br><b>WINNER : No Contest<br>OR : 74<br></b><font color="#800080"><i>( <b>Bookers Notes: </b>Rob Van Dam and Stevie Richards couldn't really bring the fans to life due to their mis-matched styles, but the match wasn't extremely poor by all means. Van Dam continues to grow as one of the biggest stars in ECW, via his lengthy championship reign (of near twelve months) he is giving the secondary ECW title serious credibility, almost as much credibility as the ECW World Championship which is currently held by the number one babyface in the company. Stevie Richards could do with some more work, his lack of presence on Television for the amount of time he as been away as made him almost forgettable, with only long time ECW fans remembering him but still, remembering him more as a joke than a serious athlete. )</i></font></p><p align="left">We go to ringside for a few moments to where Styles and Cyrus hype up tomorrow's Living Dangerously pay per view, but that all ends when the music of <b>Jerry Lynn</b> fills the arena. One of the biggest prizes in sports entertainment today, a title which all meant want. A title which men will die for, a title which men will kill for. With the World Title comes fame, fortune and the right to call yourself the best. Two men want this right. Jerry Lynn wants to earn the right, Taz wants to retain the right. Taz has held the Title since January of this year when he defeated &quot; The Franchise&quot; Shane Douglas at the Guilty as Charged Pay Per View. Taz retained the gold at WrestlePalooza when he defeated Jerry Lynn and Lance Storm in a triple threat match, BUT, Jerry Lynn wanted more. Jerry Lynn believes he is the best in ECW and the rivalry as built on. Just over a week ago we witnessed a vicious attack on Taz, presumably from Jerry Lynn. Taz responded via taking Lynn out on yesterday's Hardcore TV event ahead of tonight's huge Living Dangerously event. You can beat these two men distain each other after the recent happenings, but as Jerry Lynn said, Taz his a man Living Dangerously. Will Jerry Lynn become the new ECW champion?
