PS2 Controller Problems

Wasn't sure where to post this, so sorry if it's in the wrong forum. But anyways, I'm having some trouble with one of my PS2 Controllers, so I thought you guys could help, well basically all it does is on any game it repitidly scrolls extremely fast through the menu continously, as if you were holding the directional pad in the down direction. Is there anyway I can fix this? or would I have to just buy a new controller?

Open it up with a screwdriver before you consider replacing it, they're may be dirt or something beneath the d-pad causing it to stick or something, just have a look inside.

If you dont want to open it up, i think turning off the analog may help. It happened to my controller and I just leave it off unless you're playing a game that you really need the analog sticks for.

Try resetting the game with both sticks untouched, I remember with the N64 if you held the stick in any other position it considered that the middle.

Ok, so I opened up the controller, and cleaned various parts, I plugged it back in, and it goes Up instead of Down now.

Just get a new one, it happened to me once too, only thing was my right analog was kinda collaposed.

Might be a problem in the cord. That's what's wrong with mine. If you jiggle the cord just right you get a Down movement on the character.

Pain in the ass for NCAA, when you move the controller at the wrong time and go offsides...
