"Carmelo Anthony is engaged after all.

Three days after saying that he and MTV veejay LaLa Vasquez were not engaged, the 20-year-old Nuggets forward said he proposed Christmas Day.

"I just wasn't ready for everyone to know," he said in a statement. "But I am now engaged to LaLa Vasquez."

Anthony gave Vasquez, who is also a rapper and an actress, a nine-carat engagement ring. The couple have not set a wedding date."
