I think there are 2 female guitarists in a new girl band called The Faders, they play sort of rocky pop music, the fake redhead is hot too.

Ani DiFranco? (She also does some gospel shit and many of her songs have swearing so I dunno, but her music is softish)

Hole? (I know that as a whole they largely sucked, but I'm struggling here plus Malibu might appeal to a young 'un)

I'd also recommend Drain STH. They only came out with 2 albums before they broke up, but the guitar work on both albums is awesome and definitely heavy. Their sound hearkened back to the rock of mid to late 80's mixed with some grunge/heavy influences as well.
