Glastonbury 2005

Music > Everything else in life, infidel.

Seriously, imagine life without music.

Now imagine life without a place like Glastonbury, one of the biggest love-ins ever. It's beautiful. The BBC coverage was all that kept me sane over the last few days of not being able to attend.

Besides, it's popular enough to warrant that much coverage, it'll have destroyed Wimbledon in the ratings now that Tiger Tim and Vanilla Murray are out.

Just saw the Garbage set - Shirley = Sex.

As for the Brian Wilson Band - they have to be somewhat energetic, or it draws attention to the fact that Brian himself is pretty motionless and/or uninterested. As great as he is, he looked bored stiff until Good Vibrations. Poor man.

i don´t see were the white stripes are more goth, they alwais had that a little bit.

Jack White on stage = fucking rock megastar, the black hair all over his face + gallons of sweat and pale skinn. Alice Coper and Ozzy Osborn are not going to white strips gigs becaus they are jellus of that :D

They better stop touring the less important areas of the world and come back to germany again very soon.

I don't think Brian Wilson looked bored, to quote my friend, he looked "like your uncle doing karaoke".

EDIT: Matzat, I'd say the White Stripes are definitely more goth. If you listen to the De Stijl and Sympathy For The Record Industry, even all the way up to White Blood Cells, and even most of Elephant, they're fairly clean and innocent, it wasn't until touring Elephant that they started upping the goth imagery, and changing the red and white colours (symbolising innocence) to red and black, and Jack growing his hair out. The video for Jolene, even though it's just a live recording, is one of the most sublimely gothic videos I've seen in years.

They're definitely getting edgier.

I didn't think Brian looked into it, Skumfrog. At the Colston Hall SMiLE show last year, which I saw live, he was way more into it, grinning and thanking everybody for having him and suchlike, he seemed very happy there. At Glasto he looked a bit... drained.

Until Good Vibrations, like I said.
