I don't believe it. I used to watch Countdown a lot if I got home in time to watch it after school. I thought he was like 40-50. Does it say why? A legend of British TV is gone. Apparently he never missed a shooting in TWENTY-THREE YEARS, until he became sick. This is bizarrely hard to take, I always thought of him as a bit naff, but that's why he was so good.

RIP Richard.

Also, apparently the Queen doesn't watch Countdown, Carol was talking about when she got something from the Queen and mentioned it, and the Queen pretty much ignored her or didn't know what she was talking about.

I hope they don't stop making them though, it's a classic, and still fun to watch show, which is phenomenal since it's been on for so long.

HOLY FUCK!!!!

Man, that's horrible. That came completely unxpected to me. Countdown was/is awesome (Though I hat eit now it's on earlier), man it's such a surprise. I know he was ill, but dying. Woah.

However on with a positive attitude, I hope Stephen Fry does lots of Countdown now. He's funny unlike Whitely (Though Whitely pulled off the kind of goofy schtick well).

He was one top notch presenter too, so very sad to see him go.
