Guess I just never paid that much attention to notice it was Shane, or basically never re-watched the event after realizing and becoming familar with Shane. Good catch though.

Stephanie is still a glaring obivous since she was still in high-school, or so I'd think. Who knows that power hungry bitch was probably calling shots at the age of 12.

Either way it's a good diary so far EWRFan and you've really showcased what 1993 wrestling was all about with the squash matches and are building up to some nice feuds. Can't wait to finish reading, good luck.

Yeah, Shane I can see being around because of his referee stint plus the fact he was out of college at this time. Steph though wasn't even involved with the entertainment side of the WWF at all unti the whole Ministry of Darkness Angle. She worked sales or something like that.

As a side note, is this running on TEW or EWR? The grades make it seem like TEW, but then throwing around percentage sound like EWR.

Thanks guys. This is in a small hiatus since I am going back to college tomorrow and have spent the best part of this week in getting ready for it(paying, working with scholarship details, getting my schedule done) and then working at night.

This is EWR, but I am using only the overall percentage for matches. As for Virgil, well....I do need some jobbers for the new stars...dont I? As soon as his overness stops helping me, he is done.

WWF Royal Rumble 1993

Live from Madison Square Garden!

Announcers: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

Sponsored by Sports Ilustrated, Nintendo, Castrol and Subway

Dark Match:

Alundra Blayze vs Luna Vachon

Are they going to revive the women's division? Acceptable match for women. Luna overpowers Blayze at first and does a lot of hair tossing and choking in spite of the ref holding her back. She gets a decent monkey flip for a near fall. We hit the chinlock, but Blayze breaks with the usual and gets a nice back suplex for two. Kneebreaker sets up a leglock, but Luna breaks with a kick to the face. They miscommunicate and repeat a double KO spot with a clothesline. Luna up first and sets Alundra up for a Powerbomb, but she backdrops her. Blayze on fire!!! Nice headscissor takedown! Alundra goes to the top rope, but Luna catches up to her. They fight for position, Alundra shoves Luna down! A groggy Luna staggers into a Flying Bodypress for the pinfall at 7:33. They worked a better match than half the roster!

Winner: Alundra Blayze(Rating: 61% D)

The PPV starts now!

Tatanka vs Papa Shango

The vodoo witch lives! They hype Tatanka's streak to 45-0, which I dont think possible. Nice reaction to Tatanka's entrace. They are both on fire trading punches as the bell rings. Eye gouge sets the tone for Shango's offense. He chops Tatanka into the corner and then uses the bone necklace to choke him! The ref promptly takes it away. More choking, but with his bare hands. A bodyslam and kneedrop get two. More choking and this is dying a slow death. Shango gets a decent backbreaker for two. He goes for the Shoulderbreaker(what a lame finisher by the way) as Heenan proclaims the streak dead! But of course, Tatanka reverses into a Victory Roll for a very near fall. Comeback time with the chops of doom! Tatanka up top....Tomahawk Chop! That only gets two. Tatanka with a dropkick and tries an elbowdrop, but Shango moves. Shango tries the Shoulderbreaker again, but again Tatanka escapes and this time sets Shango up and back down with the End of the Trail for the win at 10:42. Nothing but choking and some dull spots. When Tatanka actually CARRIES the match, then somebody is really dead weight. Tatanka celebrates as they continue to push the streak.

Winner: Tatanka(Rating: 65% D)

LOD/Steiners segment

The Steiners are walking backstage and run into LOD. Animal and Hawk wish them good luck in their match with Money Inc tonight. Hawk is quick to mention that it was because of Money Inc that they managed to beat them. Rick and his bad temper fire back and claim that The Steiners can beat them any day. Staredown between Hawk and Rick, Scott and Animal break it up and play nice. The Steiners leave, but Hawk keeps talking to Rick "We will see about that" where his last words. (Rating: 70% C)

WWF Tag Team Titles:

The Steiner Brothers vs Money Inc

Scott and IRS start. They work a nice wrestling sequence that ends in a stalemate. They actually nod in respect before locking up and Scott takes IRS down with an arm drag and inmediatly locks an arm bar. IRS fights out and pulls the hair in order to segue Scott into a headlock. Scott tries to break it up with an Atomic Drop, but IRS puts more pressure in the hold and manages to bring him down, still in the headlock. Scott fights out, but as he goes to the ropes, Ted pulls him had down by the hair and IRS goes back to the headlock. Rick gets in and of course, the ref pushes him out and the bad guys just pound Scott and make the illegal switch, with Ted holding on to the headlock. This spot is repeated for two minutes or so.

The LOD walk out to watch the match. Rick exchanges words with them and the ref goes over to see what is going on and this leads to more trouble for Scott. Animal actually points the ref to the shennanigans and the ref escorts IRS out. Ted locks Scott in the Million Dollar Dream and he is fading....Rick tries to come in to break it, but the ref puts a stop to that, opportunity that IRS uses to come in and give Scott some right hands to the gut. Ted has Scott down as the ref checks the arms....1....2...but Scott holds on! He starts to get up and uses a stunner-like move to break the hold! Double KO spot. The fans start to clap their hands and the LOD bang the mat, actually cheering for Scott to make the tag... and here it is! Rick on fire!! Ted and IRS get Steinerlined! Backdrops for both heels. Ted is pounded in one corner, but IRS attacks Rick from behind. Scott is back in and we get the pier 6 brawl. The faces send the heels into each other and then get stereo dropkicks as IRS bails. Scott follows him outside. Rick and Ted are left in the ring brawling. Outside IRS lures Scott into charging at him and then just shoves him into the steel post. He gets the dreaded briefcase and climbs on the apron, but Hawk grabs the case and fights for it with IRS!! Rick comes over to help, but Hawk accidentaly bonks Rick with it!!! IRS scurries in before the LOD can get their hands on him and he and Ted double team Rick. Write Off!!! Ted covers and the ref counts the three. Money Inc retain at 16:21

Rick is left down in the ring, Scott is down outside. Hawk and Animal try to help them up their feet, but Rick shoves Hawk and Animal has to run in and pull them apart. More words are exchanged and officials rush to the scene.

Winners and still Tag Team Champions: Money Inc (Rating: 81% B)

Bossman's Time

Big Bossman with Mean Gene. They run over his feud with HBK. Bossman promises to win the title tonight and then win the Royal Rumble. Crowd loved it! Nice fan reaction to it and that is what counts. (Rating: 83% B)

WWF Intercontinental Championship:

Big Bossman vs Shawn Michaels

Basic story with HBK running from Bossman. Bossman gets tired pretty quickly and now HBK barges in with all the confidence in the world. It was all a trap and Bossman takes his head off with a clothesline. Bossman goes to work on the lower back right off the bat with clubbing blows. He locks a bear hug(4 minutes in?) and they work on that for two minutes. HBK escapes and starts laying rights and lefts on Bossman. He finally takes him down with the Running Forearm, but hurts the back and needs to rest. He stands in a corner as Bossman gets up and brainlessly charges at him, but HBK moves out and Bossman introduces himself to Mrs. Corner. Chops from HBK and now he eye gouges Bossman just because. He plays that off like an asshole. He takes him down with a Running Bulldog for a near fall. Bossman clubs him in the gut as he gets up and continues to punch HBK. Whip to the ropes, HBK ducks under a clothesline and tries the forearm again, but this time Bossman catches him and gives him a backbreaker, with awesome selling from HBK. Bossman now locks the Surfboard Stretch!

He was too close to the ropes and HBK reaches them. Belly to belly try, but HBK gouges the eyes to break up. He goes for the Slingshot Suplex, but his back gives away due to the punishment and the size of his opponent. He staggers around and Bossman just zeroes in with more blows to the lower back. HBK scurries out of the ring and Bossman follows. HBK manages to kick Bossman and send him aganist the ringpost and then scurries back in as the ref counts. Nice bit of psycology there: with his back hurt and his opponent's size preventing the use of his finisher, he seeks the count out win to retain the belt. But off course, Bossman gets back at 9 and HBK ambushes him as he rolls into the ring. HBK goes to the corner and gets the nightstick! He tries to clock Bossman, but he blocks the blow and punches HBK away! Now Bossman tries to use the nightstick, but the ref stops him! The ref and Bossman have a little tug o' war for the stick and Bossman let's him take it....but turns into a superkick! He staggers back and finds another one coming his way! This one takes him down and the ref counts the pinfall...1...2...3. HBK retains at 12:35! Hurt, HBK walks to the back with his title and his ego still intact.

Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: Shawn Michaels(Rating: 85% B)

Bret fears Flair

Flair with Mean Gene. He cuts a promo on Bret Hart, claiming that Bret is afraid of him and that's why he did not show up tonight. Mean Gene corrects him and talks about the injury to Bret. Flair says that champions fight in spite of the injuries and that Bret simply broke a nail and used that as an excuse to get off their match. He says that tonight Perfect taps to the Figure Four and that Bret better be watching at home, because he will do the same thing soon. (Rating: 99% A)

Mr. Perfect vs Ric Flair

Early match of the year candidate here! Great exchanges for the first six minutes. It all began with three series of amateur wrestling sequences that ended in stalemates, then they chopped the hell out of each other until both men had red welts on their chests. After almost seven minutes, they start their segments proper with Flair using an eye gouge on Perfect to take over. He proceeds to work the old "choke the face with wristape" spot for some time. Now he concentrates on the legs. Kicks to the leg(with the crazy Perfect over sell mode) and then a knee crusher. He goes for the Figure Four, but gets rolled up for two. Perfect fights back with chops. Vertical Suplex gets two.

Flair pulls Perfect by the hair and headlocks him, but Perfect fights out and returns the favor with a hair toss to Flair, all across the ring! Flair begs for mercy, but Perfect comes at him with kicks. Flair catches one and turns it into a dragon screw legwhip and now goes to school by sitting on the leg several times and then locking some sort of leg grapevine hold. Perfect tries to reach the ropes, but Flair breaks the hold and drags him back to the center of the ring. Elbow to the inside of the leg and he locks Perfect in a leglock. He breaks it and now with a knee to the inside leg and keeps the leg hooked for pressure, bending the inner of Perfect's leg aganist his knee. Man, this is a surgical amputation of the leg! Just as I finished typing that, Flair goes for the Figure Four, but is once again countered, this time Perfect shoves him with his leg back into the corner. Perfect limps around the ring and Flair charges him, but meets a right hand! And another! Flair is backed into the corner, but as Perfect limps towards him, Flair kicks him in the leg! Perfect limps away and now Flair takes him down from behind with a diving shoulderblock to the back of the leg! Figure Four!!! Perfect tries to fight out, but no dice. He finally taps at 13:34. Flair just leaves with a smirk and makes belt motions. One of the best matches so far this year!

Winner: Ric Flair(Rating: 90% A)

The Royal Rumble!

#1 is.....Lex Luger!. He showcases new "all american" attire with the flag on his trunks, kneepads and elbowpads and white/red/blue boots. #2 is...Samu!. It's big muscles vs big head!

Some power wrestling between them, but they fail at each other's attempts to put themselves out of the ring. #3 is Bam Bam Bigelow! He goes after Luger and the heels double team him. #4 is Hawk of LOD and he evens the odds. #5 is Crush and the friendly giant from Hawaii marches in and helps Hawk in his attempts to put Samu out. Not a lot going on. #6 is The Undertaker and watch the bodies fly! Well, not quite, but Samu and Hawk are both dumped by Taker with a double clothesline. Smartly, Crush and Bam Bam put aside their differences and double him up. #7 is Lanny Poffo and he too goes after Taker. Luger rests in the corner. #8 is Marty Jeannetty and he too goes to the deadman! Luger gets bored and casually goes after Taker! #9 is Yokozuna and everybody waits for him, leaving Taker alone!! Mistake as Taker just tosses Marty a mile to the outside! They gang up on Yoko and Taker looks on as Yoko dumps Crush with a big kick. Poffo runs and gets chokeslammed by Taker. Everybody bails to corners and lets Taker and Yoko go at it!! Yoko manages to take the big deadman down and legdrop him....and again...and again...and again! Taker has to be dead!!! He finally gets tired of it and just dumps Taker.....Undertaker is eliminated!!! And limb too!! They have to bring a stretcher and everything!!

Yoko walks back to the middle of the ring as the cornered contestants look at each other. They all rush the big guy(minus Luger) and Bam Bam gets dumepd by a big kick. #10 is Randy Savage and he saves Lanny Poffo from being eliminated by Yoko! They double team Yoko, but he is too much! Luger finally comes in and saves them both. #11 is Bob Backlund and the legend decides not too get close to Yoko. Luger and Yoko face off and they go at it!! The other three just look on. #12 is Jim Duggan! He too just looks on. Finally in an amazing display of strenght, Luger bodyslams Yoko!!! The crowd roars and chant for Luger!! Yoko is so stunned by it that he eats a Bionic Forearm!!! And another one!!! A third one finally sends the big guy over the top!!! Yoko is out!!! Now things resume and Lanny attacks Randy!! Randy slaps him and tells him not to bug him or something. Duggan interrupts and attacks Lanny...but Randy attacks him! Backlund and Lanny pair off and Luger rests. #13 is Doink and he goes after Luger! Mistake and gets tossed almost inmediatly, but hangs on to the bottom rope.

Nothing going on and to crowd the ring even more with faces, #14 is Scott Steiner and #15 is Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. They make some room as Randy eliminates Duggan and Lanny dumps Backlund. #16 is Rick Steiner and the brothers team up aganist the Savages(prelude?). #17 is Animal and Rick goes after him!!! They brawl and the crowd look in anticipation! #18 is IRS and Scott goes after him. #19 is Big Bossman and still nothing of note. No eliminations in six minutes as the #20 Tatanka, #21 British Bulldog and #22 Earthquake come in. Rick Steiner and Animal eliminate each other after a flying clothesline from Animal. The momentum carried them both out. #23is Jake "The Snake" Roberts as Luger eliminates Brutus Beefcake!

#24 is Razor Ramon! He goes after Lanny Poffo, but Savage intercepts him! Savage gets dumped by Ramon to save Lanny!! Lanny is so shocked that he stands still looking at his brother and gets dumped by Luger! #25 is Shawn Michaels and he and Tatanka lock up. Big Bossman comes over to help. #26 is Typhoon as his partner dumps Scott Steiner. #27 is Ted DiBiase. #28 is Fatu. #29 is Jerry "The King" Lawler. Nothing happens and #30.... Hulk Hogan!

Now the bodies fly as Luger(who has been in here since #2) and Hogan clear the ring! Hogan takes Bulldog and Snake out with a double clothesline, as Luger does the same to Money Inc. Luger dumps Doink for real this time. Tatanka gets dumped by Hogan. Luger takes HBK out....and Lawler too!!! Fatu follows via clothesline!! Bossman is done by Hogan. Luger takes Razor Ramon out via clothesline. Now The Natural Disasters attack Luger as Hogan just looks on. They just squash him! Luger manages to roll out of the way as Typhoon held him for Quake to attack and the two balls of fat collide, the momentum taking Typhoon out!! Quake gets a bionic forearm and goes out too!!! Luger and Hogan are one on one!! But Luger is so tired and hurt and is selling his injuries. Hogan as a smirk in his face and casually attacks Luger!! BIG BOOT!!! LEGDROP!!! Luger is done. Hogan with another Legdrop for good measure and Luger gets dumped!! Hogan wins the Royal Rumble at 1:19:56.

Hogan poses and many fans just pelt him with trash as the Royal Rumble comes to a close.

Winner: Hulk Hogan (Rating: 71% C)

Overall: 75%

Nice stories in the Rumble. We will see where this leads. In other news, WCW had a 1.17 buyrate for COTC, while the Rumble only did a 0.88!!!

WWF NEWS! Early Raw Preview!

- The WWF recently opened a developmental territory called "Capitol Wrestling Federation" in Connecticut. Killer Kowalski and Rocky Johnson are the main trainers. The booking is handled by Kathy Jane Myers and Vince Russo.

- The fact that WCW got a higher rating for the first PPV edition of Clash of Champions OVER the Royal Rumble, who usually does a great buyrate, is indicative of the decline of the WWF. Hopefully the new booker will turn things around. Jobber matches are no longer a part of WWF TV, the same thing that WCW did at the beginning of the month in order to gain on the WWF.

- Barry Harowitz, PJ Walker and Brooklyn Brawler, the other three jobbers under WWF contract are down at CWF working with the young talent. Only PJ Walker, who is rumored to be taking over the Max Moon character full time is expected back on the roster any time soon.

- Stan Lane is at CWF as well until Bobby Eaton enters the WWF after Wrestlemania.

- The Thrillseekers tag team, Chris Jericho and Lance Storm signed with the WWF and are at CWF. They are also expected on the roster after Wrestlemania when the WWF usually brings a lot of people up.

- Expect Crush and Repo Man(Smash) to reunite under a new gimmnick soon.

- Raw this week will have Hogan celebrating his Rumble win, Flair talking about Bret Hart and news on Undertaker's status. Lex Luger will also appear and so will The Steiners and the LOD. Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo are expected to meet face to face for the first time. Tatanka will likely see action to continue his streak.
