I'm gonna try and condense this diary and write it from the point of a website posting the results where they focus on the storyline advancement instead of the matches. It comes from the viewpoint that it starts at the first of June, just after this months PPV, Judgement Day. Two important points to note are that Lashley won the KOTR the Smackdown before Judgement Day and that the winner gets a WHC shot at Summerslam. The following hopefully recaps the view from both Raw and Smackdown:

CHAPTER 1: "FROM THE DRAFT TO SUMMERSLAM"

Raw

The Edge, John Cena and Triple H feud rolled on, with neither man able to gain an advantage. On the Raw 'super show' held to combat Smackdowns Judgement Day PPV in the ratings, John Cena again retained the WWE title but only after using Triple H's sledgehammer against him. Mr Money In The Bank, Rob Van Dam also hung onto his belt, the Intercontinental title, after a hard fought victory against Shelton Benjamin in a ladder match. Another feud looked to be over when Shawn Michaels was pinned by the McMahons after mass interference from the Spirit Squad. After the match, the McMahons challenged Michaels to retire, a challenge which HBK claimed he didn’t have an answer to, but would have decided by the next week on Raw. Big Show and Kane also got their differences out of the way in a first blood match which the Big Red Machine won after hitting a Big Boot onto a chair, forcing it into the Big Shows face for the win. Other matches included the Spirit squad denied Chavo the chance to get some gold for his uncle Eddie when Kenny and Mikey defeated him and his hand picked partner, the Nature Boy Ric Flair, after interference from other Squad members. Umaga kept his dominant streak alive when he polished off Eugene in no more than five minutes. Finally, Chris Masters got even with Carlito after a submission victory when he locked in the Master lock following blindsiding Carlito with a steel chair. Acting Raw General Manager Vincent Kennedy McMahon has also decided to bring in a new athlete to the women’s division following Mickie James third consecutive victory over Trish Stratus.

Monday Night Raw Live on Monday 29th May 2006

Tonight was a Monday Night Raw that John Cena will want to forget in a hurry. After making his way out to the ring and telling the crowd that he was sick of having to risk his title against Edge and Triple H in triple threat matches, he announced that he would only fight one of the two at Bad Blood. The champ also said that he has Vince’s approval and there is no one, and he means NO ONE in the company who can change that. The crowd then erupted as the music of Rob Van Dam hit over the P.A and Mr MITB appeared by the stage. He told him there is no one who can change that except…R…V…D. Cena told RVD to bring it but the challenger said to calm down, because they’re friends before they’re enemies as next week on Raw they’ll team up to face Edge and HHH. Cena looked worried as now he no longer has two opponents to look out for, its three!

Another big announcement this week on Raw was Shawn Michaels potential retirement. The McMahons came out and said that it was time for an answer and called Michaels out. HBK arrived in the ring and Vince said that Saturday Nights Main Event, Backlash and last weeks ‘Super Show’ were all memorable for the same reason. At all three shows, The Showstopper was beaten by the McMahons. So, they have achieved their goal and proved that they are the better men. They then did the ‘honourable thing’ and asked Michaels if, now that he has been disgraced on a global scale, he was prepared to retire. HBK thought about it for a second and announced to the whole world ‘yes’. After decades at the top of the business, returning from a career threatening injury and being the first ever grand slam champion, he is prepared to go, but only if they can beat him one more time at Bad Blood! But they wont be facing HBK, they wont be facing Shawn Michael’s, they will be up against the Showstopper! As HBK returned to the back, Vince uttered the words ‘…that can be arranged…’

Also tonight on Raw, Big Show took on Shelton Benjamin. With both men coming off of the back of PPV losses at Backlash they were both out to prove something. Despite Benjamin’s quickness and agility, the 500 pounders strength was too much and the Show settled it with a Showstopper for three. Chris Masters was also able to pick up a victory tonight grabbing a Masterlock submission victory over Eugene despite Carlito dropping by at ringside to try and cause a distraction. After the match they engaged in a short brawl that was broken up before it could begin. The Spirit Squad hung onto their belts tonight. Despite a valiant effort from Snitsky and Goldust, the 5 on 2 advantage that they possessed was enough for Kenny to score the victory with a guillotine leg drop onto Goldust. Umaga looked to be on the verge of losing his first match tonight when he went against Viscera but some early interference from Estrada didn’t allow big Vis to get into the match and the taped up thumb of doom sealed his fate. The final point of the night was the Women’s title match. The bout never actually took place as Vince McMahon introduced his new competitor, the hugely talented and intense Aja Kong (imagine a Chyna from China). She imposed her presence immediately taking out both Trish and Mickie with two brutal power bombs that people at home must‘ve felt. She finally took hold of the belt and looked at it, before dropping it to canvas, and then returning to the back.

Quick Results

- Big Show pinned Shelton Benjamin

- Chris Masters beat Eugene by submission.

- Kenny and Mikey beat Goldust and Snitsky by pinfall.

- Umaga pinned Viscera.

- Trish Stratus and Mickie James was a no contest.

Last Mondays Raw so John Cena project a heelish aspect to his character with the ‘I do what I want to do’ angle. Expect a full heel turn soon.

The McMahon’s and Michaels are set to appear at their fifth PPV. With the crowd unsure as to whether it could work again, anticipate another worker entering the feud sometime soon.

In Smackdown news, Randy Orton has entered into the final 30-odd days of his 60 day suspension. Sources have indicated that WWE are actually planning on leaving him out till the next Smackdown PPV, Vengeance, for a dramatic return to the ring. Also, Batista has been given the all clear to wrestle. Unlike Orton, expect Batista to return to action soon. This is probably due to the notably lack of star power currently on the roster.

Results of the Velocity tapings:

- Dalip Singh annihilated Gymini in a handicap match which he won with a Giant Bomb on Todd Shane. After the match, Daivari lured Simon Dean into a trap which finished with a choke slam to the fitness guru, really showing the dominance of Daivari’s Army on the Smackdown brand.

- Ken Kennedy beat Scotty 2 Hotty after a Green Bay Plunge.

- Gunner Scott pinned Funaki after a Razor’s Edge style move which he later named the Top Gun.

- Nunzio defeated Jamie Noble with the Arriverderci after outside interference from Big Vito.

Daivari’s Army have been merciless in recent weeks and tonight they were victims of the consequences. After Mark Henry picked up the victory with a Worlds Strongest Slam on Chris Benoit following a second rope spine buster from Doug Basham, the 7 foot 3 monster Khali made his way out and they began to pick apart their opponents with help from the ‘Wrestling God’ JBL. Just as Daivari instructed Khali to hit the World Heavyweight Champion with the Giant Bomb, the lights went out and when they returned the Undertaker was in the middle of the ring! A short brawl ensued and with the help of Benoit and Rey, the Deadman cleaned house of everyone bar Basham. Taker then used the former tag champion to send a message to his rivals, by hitting a tombstone onto the canvas as the rest of the Army watched on helplessly. This will surely have repercussions in a weeks time, with Daivari and his cronies surely not pleased at being humiliated tonight.

In other news, five time WCW champion Booker T issued an interesting challenge tonight to the resident worm eater, The Boogeyman. Book man said that at Vengeance the mind games should stop and he goes one-on-one with him, in a ‘loser leaves Smackdown match’. Basically, the two face off with the winner choosing who leaves, and who stays on Friday Night Smackdown. This is good news for Bookers wife Sharmell, who has been hoping this finishes before it gets any worse.

There were two number one contendership matches to be fought out tonight. The first was for the right to face WWE tag team champions, MNM, at Vengeance. The match was won by Londrick after Hardy refused Animal the tag and Paul London nailed the 450 degree splash for the three count. After the match Hardy looked disgusted with his partner and ambushed him from behind with a steel chair before landing the twist of fate onto it. Hardy followed it up by saying that this ‘legend’ has let him down one too many times and he has had enough. He also said that make no mistake about it, the next time he is in the tag title race, he wont be teaming with him. In fact, it wont be anyone on the roster! The other contendership match was for the cruiserweight title and was contested between Kid Kash and Super Crazy. The match was most certainly controversial, after currently reigning champion Gregory Helms hit the ring mid-match and struck the Shining Wizard on both men, leaving the referee no choice but to call a double disqualification. Helms then said that it looks like with no clear cut challenger that they should just abandon the match scheduled for Vengeance. On this note, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long came out to the stage and said that as neither man won, BOTH will be going to Vengeance as joint number one contenders! Helms was furious as he returned to the locker room, shouting that it wasn’t fair.

The final match of the night to be reported saw Lashley take on Paul Burchill. Regardless of the attempted interference from Irish fighting machine, Fit Finlay, Lashley was able to grab the pinfall victory with the Dominator after having the strength to power out of Burchills ‘Royal Mutilation’ arm bar submission manoeuvre. The surprise in this match was that the man who prevented Finlay from reaching the ring was in fact his former student, William Regal. After the match, Lashley and Regal shook hands as Finlay talked trash going back up the ramp.

Quick Results:

- Mark Henry, JBL and Doug Basham beat Rey and Benoit by pinfall.

- Londrick defeated Animal & Matt Hardy.

- Lashley pinned Paul Burchill after the Dominator.

- Super Crazy V Kid Kash was ruled a no contest after Gregory Helms interference.

- One of the most talked about points of WWE this week came from the Smackdown brand regarding Booker T. The superstar has been feuding with The Boogeyman for some time now and last Friday was involved in an angle that will most likely lead to a match at Vengeance. The stipulation announced on Smackdown being that the winner of the match is able to choose which of the two leaves the Smackdown brand. Wrestling Heat can officially break the news today that the superstar chosen to leave the brand will join the Raw roster. The following week from Vengeance is when they are scheduled to debut.

-More draft news available to be broken to you today. It can be confirmed that following a meeting between the WWE management, they have decided that the annual draft between the brand extensions will take place in the approaching weeks after the upcoming Raw brands PPV, Bad Blood. It has been alleged that Vince McMahon has decided that both of the brands are overdue some refreshment in terms of the rosters, with the main event scene on Raw particularly looking stale. Early indications are that possible choices for the draft could include the following; The Undertaker, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, Umaga and Chavo Guerrero.

- Monday Night Raw this week is set feature a big main event when WWE Champion John Cena and Money In The Bank winner Rob Van Dam, go up against Triple H and Edge in tag team competition. The match is expected to be used as a method of finalising the championship match between Cena and RVD at this months ECW PPV, One Night Stand II. It is unknown whether or not Cena will go into the event as a fully-fledged heel.

I have to say I have a few bones to pick with your storylines. Road Warrior Animal's been going under the name The Road Warrior and turned heel on Hardy about two months ago (estimated) and the tag team name Londrick... while somwhat catchy doesn't roll off the tounge like I would hope in a WWE name. As for the Pay Per Views, Vengeance is supposed to be the next RAW Pay Per View replacing Bad Blood and The Great American Bash takes the place of Vengeance, but all of these things are probably the default in your version of the scenario so I can understand. ;)

Other than that though, I'm loving the Undertaker/Khali feud god help me and looking forward to RVD/Cena.

-John Cena & Rob Van Dam V Triple H and Edge

My guess is Cena and RVD lose either when Cena turns or by opponent miscommunication

-Shawn Michaels V Shelton Benjamin

If HBK really is retiring, then Benjamin should get the push with this upset victory.

-Big Show V Umaga w/Armando Allejandro Estrada

Gotta keep Umaga's winning streak strong

-Carlito & Chris Masters V The Spirit Squad (World Tag Team Championship)

Again, Masters and Carlito split up a few months ago but whats a guy to do. Spirit Squad should win because they've got Spirit, yes they do.

-Aja Kong V Victoria

Kong's been built up like a beast from her debut so I see no reason to lose in her first match

Through the good and the bad, you've caught my eye and have a reader. (Y)

Monday Night Raw Live!

For most fans, tonight was the night that will be remembered as the day that John Cena turned his back on them. The champ has always stated that the only fans he cared about were his ‘Chain Gang’. However, after tonight’s actions, it seems the Gang has finally dispersed. After him and Rob Van Dam were able to forge an unlikely partnership and pick up an impressive win over The Game and Edge following a huge Five Star Frog Splash, Cena uneasily shook hands with his ‘partner’, but then surprised everyone in the arena by delivering a thunderous F-U to him as the fans booed unanimously. As all of three of his title chasers lay unconscious in the ring, Cena told the rest of the world why. He said that last week, when RVD entered the running for his title with that cheap-ass title shot of his; he became an obstacle on John Cenas road to keeping his title, just like Edge and HHH. And as all three of these guys found out tonight, the champ WILL retain his WWE championship…at any cost.

Another shock was in store for the Raw fans tonight as Vince McMahon unveiled his latest step he was taking to ensure that Shawn Michaels was forced into early retirement by the end of the month. HBK took on Shelton Benjamin tonight in an evenly fought contest, as expected from two of Raw’s most entertaining performers. Despite Benjamin coming close on two occasions, Michaels was able to show his never say die spirit, kicking out of both a T-Bone suplex and a Super kick midway through the match. It was in fact a Super kick of his own that HBK used to seal the former Intercontinental champions fate, hitting the Sweet Chin Music for three after ducking a springboard clothesline. The shock came after the match when Vince McMahon came out onto the stage and told Shawn that he was impressed at the shape he was in. He also said that Michaels should try and stay in that shape to, since at Bad Blood, he wont be facing Vince McMahon, he wont even be wrestling Shane. Because at Bad Blood, Shawn Michaels opponent will be wrestling in place of the McMahon’s and is the Big Red Machine, Kane! The devastating flames hit the ring posts as Kane then headed to the ring to meet a stunned HBK. Despite reacting fast and planting Sweet Chin Music, Kane sat right back up and was able to land a monstrous choke slam before laughing maniacally at his downed foe. Can Michaels find a way to combat this man in a few weeks time, or is it the end of the line for HBK?

Umaga was able to claim literally the biggest scalp of his career so far when he was able to defeat The Big Show despite using questionable means. Show looked to have the match won after hitting the Final Cut and getting ready to plant the Showstopper. Manager Estrada climbed onto the apron though and distracted the referee as a recovering Umaga used the distraction to nail a low blow and lock on an illegal chokehold till Big Show passed out from the pain. As referee Jack Doane turned around, he changed to a normal sleeper hold and the referee called for the bell after judging The Big Show to be unconscious. Carlito and Chris Masters were again unable to capture tag team gold because of differences between the two. The Spirit Squad were decimated early on after Carlito planted a total of eight chair shots whilst the referee was down. Masters then locked on a Masterlock until Mikey passed out and after rousing the referee, he went to make a cover. But he was stopped after bumping into Carlito and they began arguing, Carlito then decided it was cool to plant his partner with a Backcracker and head to the back, abandoning him. Kenny then came off the top with a guillotine leg drop for the victory. Aja Kong also debuted tonight, defeating Victoria in less than three minutes with a power bomb. The Asian brawler looked almost unstoppable, not letting Victoria even attempt a single move throughout. It will be tough to see anyone topple this monsters quest for success in the WWE.

Quick Results

- Rob Van Dam & John Cena pinned Triple H & Edge.

- Shawn Michaels beat Shelton Benjamin by pinfall.

- Umaga defeated Big Show by knockout.

- Spirit Squad pinned Chris Masters & Carlito.

- Aja Kong beat Victoria by pinfall.

- Ever since Rob Van Dam announced he may be ready to cash in his Money In The Bank title shot, rumours have abounded in force that it may be now be a WWE Championship match at One Night Stand II. However, we can now officially break the news that RVD will not be cashing in this Sunday. In an exclusive interview with the Intercontinental champion, he said; “You know, a lot of people have been saying that the FU I took on Raw might have been the final straw. However, they couldn’t have been further from the truth. As a matter of fact, John Cena is going to have to take it to the extreme regardless of my shot. You see, I have recently been informed by the WWE board of Directors, that because of Cena’s attack a few nights ago, at One Night Stand this Sunday, its gonna be me and Cena in a non-title match!” When questioned about the date he is going to cash in on his shot, Mr Monday Night replied ominously with, “All I can say is that regardless of the result this Sunday, there is definitely gonna be bad blood between us both”.

WWE.com is also able to exclusively reveal that the Dudley Boys have been confirmed as making a special one-off appearance at the event. After numerous independent bookings and a tour of Japan, the former World Tag Team Champions have decided to return to an ECW ring once more for the fans, before resuming their independent bookings. This leaves the card for this Sunday looking like this:

Non-title ECW Rules Match

Rob Van Dam V John Cena

Eddie Guerrero Memorial Match

Chris Benoit V Rey Mysterio

Tables match

The Dudley Boys V The Sandman & Axl Rotten

Sabu V Terry Funk

Rhino V Masato Tanaka

Spike Dudley V Mike Awesome

Tajiri & Little Guido V Super Crazy & Psychosis

Only a week has passed since last Friday Night Smackdowns main event and it seems like the balance has been restored. Just as it looked like Daivari’s Army were going to steamroller through Benoit and Rey Mysterio like they have the rest of the Smackdown roster, The Undertaker re-emerged and made his intentions known. With the Deadman as a temporary ally, the World Heavyweight Champion will clearly feel slightly relieved, especially when they team up to face the threat of Mark Henry and the Army’s associate in recent weeks, John Bradshaw Layfield. With the war between The Great Khali and Undertaker still raging however, it seems likely that the 7 foot 3 monster will appear at some point. Also tonight, Doug Basham and Chris Benoit go one-on-one in another potentially explosive encounter. Despite being undefeated since he joined the Army, Basham was used to set an example last week by The Undertaker and so will be looking for some revenge in any form tonight against the Crippler.

Other action tonight includes Lashley and William Regal teaming up to face the equally threatening team of Finlay and Paul Burchill. After Regal saved Lashley from being double teamed by Burchill and Finlay last week, Regal has now made himself a target and it promises to be a ferocious affair. Plus, Booker T makes his first in-ring appearance since Judgement Day, this time against Jamie Noble. After issuing his challenge to The Boogeyman last week, will we receive an answer from the undefeated voodoo man? Only time will tell. Gregory Helms has announced that he is going to challenge Theodore Long over his decision to make the Cruiserweight championship match at Vengeance a triple threat match. MNM are in action tonight for the first time since hearing that their opponents for their titles will be Londrick, their opponents are Gymini. In addition, Animal makes a rare singles appearance against Ken Kennedy after Matt Hardys assault with a chair last week.

Confirmed Matches

- The Undertaker & Rey Mysterio V JBL & Mark Henry

- Chris Benoit V Doug Basham

- Lashley & William Regal V Finlay & Paul Burchill

- Booker T V Jamie Noble

- MNM V Gymini

- Animal V Ken Kennedy

- Tatanka pinned Orlando Jordan with a Fallaway Slam

- Gunner Scott beat Sylvan after hitting the Top Gun from the second rope

- Debuting superstar Chris Hero pinned Vito with a Charging STO after Nunzio accidentally hit his own partner

This Fridays Smackdown resulted in a stunning turn of events for not just Rey Mysterio, but everyone watching around the world as well. Mysterio and The Undertaker were able to pick up the victory tonight against the powerhouse team of John Bradshaw Layfield and Mark Henry, after the Deadman hoisted JBL up for the Last Ride and Mysterio came of the ropes with a springboard onto JBL for the three count. After the match Mysterio attempted to show respect to the Undertaker with a congratulatory handshake, which was met with a frosty response as the Deadman squared up to the champ. He then told Mysterio in no uncertain terms, that the only reason he is still the World Heavyweight Champion is because whilst they have a common enemy [Daivari’s Army], he is allowing him to be. Mysterio looked on stunned as Taker told him to make no mistake about it, after he buries Khali at Vengeance, he will then become the new champion and Mysterio…will rest…in…peace. The altercation between the two provided a big enough distraction for The Great Khali to enter the ring and blindside The Undertaker, as Henry, Doug Basham and Daivari prevented Mysterio from re-entering the ring. The Indian giant showed immense strength, military pressing the Deadman and then finishing him with a Giant Bomb that shook the ring. In only his short career in the WWE, Khali has decimated The Undertaker more times than anyone in history, and Taker has yet to get any offence in on the 7 foot 3 behemoth. Is this an omen? Or will Undertaker find some way to prevail like we’ve seen him do so many times before?

Doug Basham was also in action tonight for Daivari’s Army against the Rabid Wolverine, Chris Benoit. Despite Daivari’s numerous interferences and also countering Benoit’s top rope head butt with his patented second rope spine buster, Basham was unable to put the former World Heavyweight Champion away and eventually was forced to tap out to an expertly applied Crippler Crossface. After the match, Mark Henry hit the ring on Daivari’s orders, planting Benoit with a Worlds Strongest Slam and a second rope splash in a bid to send a message out ahead of tonight’s main event.

Another match tonight saw King Of The Ring 2006 winner Bobby Lashley team up with Blackpool’s own William Regal to take on both Finlay and Paul Burchill. The match was a mixture of brutal and tactical manoeuvres that looked to be over when Lashley hit The Dominator on Burchill, however Finlay showed his experience to break up the pin. The tide turned from then on and Paul Burchill rolled up William Regal after a sneaky shot to the back of the head by Finlay with his stick. The British duo then took apart Lashley in a 2 on 1 scenario with Finlay screaming to Lashley that he wants that title opportunity on the line. Also in singles competition for the first time since Judgement Day was Booker T, who took on Jamie Noble. The five time WCW champion was able to score the victory early on with a Scissor Kick after Sharmell interfered. After the match the lights went dark and red smoke surrounded the ring. A few minutes later The Boogeyman appeared and footage rolled of Bookers ‘loser leaves Smackdown’ challenge last week and Boogeyman responded with a nod, showing that he accepts the challenge. MNM were also victorious tonight, however the victory again came after some unnecessary intrusion from Melina on MNM’s behalf. After the match Londrick hit the arena and tossed Nitro and Mercury to the outside, before announcing to us all that over the next few weeks, with authority from Theodore Long, they are going to face each other in singles competition and if Londrick win, then Melina will be banned from ringside. However, if MNM win the matches, then Melina will become the special guest referee for their WWE Tag Team Championship match next month at Vengeance. The final match to be reported from this weeks Smackdown was Animal up against a newly returned Ken Kennedy. With only one victory on Velocity to his name since returning, everyone wanted to know if Kennedy had the fitness to go the distance with Tag Team legend Animal. Kennedy was able to pick up the three count, but only after Matt Hardy interfered. Animal looked to have it won as the referee was down when he went to the second rope looking for an aerial manoeuvre. However, Hardy made his intentions towards Animal known with a thunderous chair shot to the back of his former partner. This gave Kennedy enough time to regain his senses and land the Green Bay Plunge for the pinfall. After the match, Hardy continued his attack, rolling him onto the Spanish announcement table and then destroying it with a leg drop off of the apron. Hardy has yet to cease his attacks on Animal and there is no doubt a hellacious match between the two is far away. Gregory Helms as promised challenged Teddy Long tonight, stating that it was unfair to put him in another match with more than one opponent. Long admitted he may have been a bit harsh, but Helms has been asking for it. So his new proposal was that, starting next week on Smackdown, Helms will face each of Super Crazy and Kid Kash in singles action and if he beats one of them, they wont be in the title match. However, if he beats both, there won't be a match at all. But if he fails to beat either of them, it will remain a triple threat match. Helms agreed to those stipulations as fair and told Long to watch in the coming weeks as he books himself a vacation on July 30th.

Quick Results

- Undertaker & Rey Mysterio pinned JBL & Mark Henry

- Chris Benoit defeated Doug Basham by submission

- Finlay & Burchill pinned Lashley & William Regal

- Booker T beat Jamie Noble by pinfall

- MNM defeated The Gymini after Melina’s interference

- Ken Kennedy pinned Animal after the Green Bay Plunge

Right. Time for a big change. Basically I've wrote up every show till Bad Blood and am itching to post them. However, I dont want to lump Eddie G or the last person who did the banners with the added pressure of having to do them thick and fast for specific dates so Im going to have to abandon them I'm afraid for the good of the diary. :(

Raw coming up soon ;)

Thanks to Eddie G for the banners he made for me and to everyone who has given positive feedback so far :)

NB: My mate who did the first few has said if he gets time he'll read through the diary and create some banners to go with the diary so its not all lost. :)

Sunday 11th June, New York City

The second ECW One Night Stand was held tonight with an even greater response from the fans than last years PPV. The show opened up with a video montage of all of ECW’s greatest moments. Paul Heyman then arrived at the ring to an outstanding reaction from the fully packed crowd. He talked about how he wanted to thank the WWE for giving them the opportunity to do this again. He even said that even though it looks unlikely that ECW will return full-time as previously thought, he will give his all to ensure that it does happen. He then welcomed our commentators for the night, Joey Styles and Joel Gertner who talked to the audience at the arena and at home about how great it is to be back, even if it is only for night. The crowd then settled down as we got underway for the first match of the evening.

Tajiri & Little Guido V Psychosis & Super Crazy

Four of the most gifted lightweights to step into an ECW came together and put on a hugely entertaining match for the fans. The contest encapsulated all that was great about ECW, in that it was hardcore, high-flying, action packed and hardcore…again. Super Crazy gave the fans a moment to remember after hitting a Shooting Star Press onto Little Guido from a balcony above that must have been at least 30 feet high. Tajiri was in the end able to score the victory for his tag team after using Green Mist on Psychosis and planting a crashing Buzz saw Kick into a cinder block pressed against the Mexicans head. After the match, Little Guido reverted to his ECW mean streak, nailing his unsuspecting partner Tajiri with a chair shot and then the Arriverderci.

We then got to see some footage of Rob Van Dan arriving backstage to a huge applause from this New York Crowd. Up next is a rematch from one of ECW’s most famous matches.

Spike Dudley V Mike Awesome

The match promised to be exciting and more than fulfilled its expectations with little Spike Dudley being put three a total of six tables throughout the duration of the match-up. Awesome showed the skills that almost grabbed him huge stardom a few years ago, however, it was Spike that impressed the most, almost grabbing the victory with Dudley Dog to the concrete. Ultimately though, Awesome was truly awesome and scored the pinfall after three consecutive Awesome Bombs.

Rhino V Masato Tanaka

The third match of the night was contested between one of ECW’s best at dishing out punishment, Rhino, and one of ECW’s best at taking the punishment, Masato Tanaka. The match was thick and fast with both superstars showing their unique qualities that made them favourites with the fans. However it was Rhino who picked up the win tonight when the former ECW World Champion was able to avoid his opponents Roaring Elbow and explode out of the corner with a Gore through a table stationed on an opposite turnbuckle. After the match the two embraced before the Man-Beast grabbed a microphone and announced that both the ECW and WWE fans gave him an excellent experience during his career and he promises that they hadn’t seen the last of him yet and to not forget, they ain’t seen nothing yet!

Sabu V Terry Funk

Before One Night Stand moved onto its three main events, there was still Sabu and Terry Funk to take place. The match was a re-match of the infamous ECW World Championship Barbed Wire match from a few years back…without the barbed wire this time. The match whilst it still might not have had the extreme factor the original had on paper, it still delivered. Both men took each other as far as they could have taken each other, with the fans wondering if the match was going to be called off after The Funker branded Sabu mid-match on the forehead and caught him in his eye. Sabu was able to show his legendary resilience however and recover to dodge a Terry Funk moonsault and plant Air Sabu in the corner onto a barbed wire wrapped steel chair, following up with a roll-up to get the win.

Tables Match

The Dudley Boys V Axl Rotten & The Sandman

The first main event of the evening saw The Dudley Boys take on Axl Rotten and the legendary Sandman with tables match rules. The Dudley’s are experts in this type of match and their reputation certainly didn’t let them down, scoring a victory early on with two 3-D’s, Axl Rotten taking his through a flaming table outside the ring onto the concrete floor. After the match was when the true action began as the bWo hit the ring and ambushed the Dudley’s and went to set up their own 3-D. Spike Dudley then made his way to ringside and tried to save his ‘family’ with a simultaneous double Dudley-Dog onto Steven Richards and The Blue Meanie. As the bWo and The Dudley’s went at it, Sandman returned from the back with the infamous Kendo stick and went on his trademark path of destruction nailing all the men in the ring with it before joining the fans for a beer bash.

After this spectacle, ECW legend Mick Foley arrived on centre stage and announced how great it was to be back in-front of the best fans in the world. He also said that its also great for the fans, as they get to see the most successful ECW superstar after the promotion collapsed. There was a moment of silence before the familiar music hit and the New York City crowd went wild as Stone Cold Steve Austin made his way to the ring. He asked Foley if he thought he was more successful than Austin. Foley responded saying that he did think he was. He did all Austin did by winning the WWE World Championship, whilst also being a Tag Team Champion, the first ever Hardcore champion and being remembered for the most replayed moment in WWE history when The Undertaker threw him from the cell. Austin smiled at the former ‘Mankind’ before declaring simply, “What?”. Foley asked Austin if he wanted more, again to a “What?” this time in unison with the crowd. Mick said what about being the writer of a best-selling novel, ‘Have A Nice Day’? Austin paused and then resumed the conversation by telling him that he has done a lot in his career for sure, but there’s one thing missing. Foley asked what that was and Austin told him that as The Rattlesnake was only in ECW for a few weeks, he never got the chance to lay Foley flat on his back in the middle of an ECW ring. With that, Austin gave Foley the finger and hit a big time Stone Cold Stunner to him and celebrated with the fans and a six pack of beer. Tough as nails Foley then dragged himself to his feet somehow and a stunned yet impressed Austin shook his hand before they both celebrated like Austin only knows how, with a beer.

Eddie Guerrero Memorial

Chris Benoit V Rey Mysterio

The pen-ultimate match was a tribute to the late, great Eddie Guerrero and the entire ECW roster and staff as well as the fans engaged in a minutes silence before the two competitors entered the ring in tears. They were able to fight back the emotion however and put on a display of athletic technique that Guerrero himself would have been proud of. Benoit looked to have it won when he landed the three amigos to a rapturous applause and went to the top rope. Mysterio showed why he is the current World Heavyweight Champion, rolling out of the way of a diving head butt. The champion was able to seal a victory in the end after calling home to 619 and dropping the dime on Benoit. Instead of grabbing the pin, Mysterio headed to the top rope and in honour of Eddie, came off with a textbook Frog Splash to seal the victory in what was without a shadow of a doubt, a classic match. However, the post-match celebration was marred for a few seconds when Mark Henry, JBL, Doug Basham and Daivari invaded the ring and put the beat down on both competitors. However, the rest of the ECW roster hadn’t forgot their former co-wrestlers and they raced out to the ring to stave off the invading WWE superstars.

Non-Title ECW Rules Match

Rob Van Dam V John Cena

The main event of the match was looking more and more likely to also be the main event at Bad Blood later this month. The match was the first time that John Cena had to bring it to the extreme in his short, but illustrious career and it showed. ‘The champ’ stayed away from Rob Van Dam every time he tried to bring Cena to the outside. Eventually though, Cena was able to crack RVD over the head with a chair and began to unload. Unfortunately he lacked the killer instinct and Van Dam was able to get back into the match with a Van Daminator onto a steel chair. The war raged on for over half an hour with neither man letting up until Cena ducked a right hand and nailed the FU! Somehow though, Van Dam found the strength and will to grab the ropes and the match continued. In the end, RVD played possum and hit Cena with the MITB briefcase for a near fall which the sold out crowd thought had settled it for sure. The previous shot busted Cena wide open and the fan favourite smelled blood. A couple of right hands later and a staggered John Cena found himself on top of a table as RVD launched off of a balcony which must have been at least 20 feet high with a Five-Star Frog Splash. The devastating manoeuvre got a huge response from the crowd as an almost unconscious Van Dam slithered an arm onto the WWE Champion to grab a long three count. The Money In The Bank challenger had grabbed first blood, could this be a sign of things to come in the future? Its certainly true that the fans will be hoping so when Mr Monday Night finally cashes in.

One Night Stand II had reminded everyone associated with the wrestling business what it means to be extreme again, as the show went off air to massive chants of, “ECW…ECW…ECW”

- Big news this week is that WWE are alleged to have entered negotiations with Terry Richards, AKA Rhino to return to the WWE on a full-time basis. While a few weeks ago this would have been thought ludicrous, the big changeover in management has signalled a positive turn in the relationships between World Wrestling Entertainment and its former superstars. Rhino, then wrestling as Rhyno in WWE, appeared at One Night Stand II last night and was said to have impressed the road agents involved. Richards has no real heat with anyone backstage at the WWE since he left, in fact the majority are said to be friends with the man, including main eventer Edge and key man backstage Paul Heyman. Another rumoured reason as to why WWE are keen on bringing him in is that he is close friends with TNA World Champion Christian Cage who many believe the WWE upper management would love to see return to the biggest promotion in North America.

- Sticking with ECW, the WWE creative team as well as the Board of Directors were said to be extremely pleased with the way the event panned out. The main event particularly raised a lot of eyebrows with Van Dam once again proving that he is World Championship material.

- Finally, WWE have made plans to bring CM Punk back from resident development territory OVW. Expect a TV debut soon. However, with Punks ability to wrestle either a brawl, technical or speed based match effectively, it is difficult to tell if he will wrestle for the RAW or Smackdown brand.
