Time to play the Game

January 22, 2006

Matches:

World Tag Team Championship- Kane & Big Show defeated Cade & Murdoch and The Spirit Squad© to win titles

In the opening match of the Royal Rumble, Kane & Big Show proved they are the most dominant tag team of all time, crushing The Spirit Squad and Cade & Murdoch. The first team eliminated was the Cowboys, Cade & Murdoch. After hitting Kane with the double suplex, or the Brokeback Mountain, as it's called, Kenny took advantage and hit Murdoch, who was on the ground for a split second, with the Top Rope Leg Drop, eliminating the oddest team on RAW to date. With Kane grounded, The Spirit Squad singled out Big Show, doing a suplex with all five members. Unfortunatly, as Kenny went to the top rope for the Top Rope Leg Drop, Kane rose from the ground and chokeslammed Kenny from the top rope to the outside. This was followed with both men chokeslamming two Spirit Squad members each, and covering Mikey for the victory. This could be the beginning of the most dominant title reign of all time.

The Rock and Kimo defeated HBK & Superfly Jimmy Snuka

Without cousin, Umaga, Kimo had to summon a new partner to team with him. And he chose none other than former WWE Champion and Hollywood actor The Rock. The Rock took an early advantage, hitting the Samoan Drop on Jimmy Snuka, then taunting the crowd, giving off a negative reaction. Shawn Michaels, however, hit Kimo with the Sweet Chin Music, usually ending the match. But somehow, the Samoan giant kicked out at two and hit an incredible Super Kick, knocking HBK out. This was when The Rock saw the advantage, hitting Jimmy Snuka with the Rock Bottom. He covered the Superfly and got the victory for his team. After the match, The Rock hit the People's Elbow on Snuka, and Kimo taunted him by hitting the Superfly Splash from the Top Rope. Surely Snuka and Michaels will react tomorrow on RAW.

WWE Women's Championship- Ashley Massaro /w Matt Hardy defeated Mickie James© to win the title

Mickie James had been playing with Ashley and Trish's mind going into Royal Rumble, injuring Trish and setting Vince's Devils on Ashley. But Ashley got her own back in this match, by not only having trainer Trish Stratus as Referee, but by having Matt Hardy at ringside to help her. But Matt was not needed, as Ashley dominated the match, hitting a big German Suplex to nearly win. But Mickie enfuriated Trish by using the Mick Kick, so Trish hit the Chick Kick on Mickie, giving Ashley an easy chance to hit a Leg Drop and win the match. Afterwards, Ashley and Matt celebrated, whilst Trish looked on at Ashley and Mickie. What will happen between these three tomorrow on RAW?

The Undertaker defeated Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match

Before the match, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came to the ring and announced that this match was to be a Last Man Standing match. In the match, Randy Orton hit The Undertaker with a steel chair, a ring bell, even a baseball bat rapped in barbed wire. But nothing could bring the Deadman down, resisting all the attacks, and eventually nailing The Legend Killer with a steel chair shot, knocking him down for an 8 count. But that wasn't enough, so The Undertaker hit the Tombstone Piledriver onto a steel chair, knocking Orton out for good. After the match, Taker set up a Casket, in which he placed Orton, and slammed the lid on it firmly, ending the master of the RKO.

Rico announced as the new SmackDown General Manager

After the brutal contest, Vince McMahon came to the ring, announcing that the new General Manager of SmackDown was a new-look Rico, without the infamous sideburns. His first act was to make the upcoming World Heavyweight Title match a hardcore match, which led to a reaction that nearly raised the roof of Madison Square Garden.

World Heavyweight Title Hardcore Triple Threat Match- Hollywood Hogan defeated Finlay© and Rey Mysterio to win the title

All hell broke loose in this match, with everything but the Kitchen Sink used in the match. Finlay dominated from early on, hitting everyone, including ring announcer Tony Chimmel, with his Shillelagh. But Hogan Hulked up and hit Finlay with the big boot and Leg Drop combination, but unfortunatly, it wasn't enough to stop the seemingly psychopathic Irishman, who nailed Hogan with the Emerald Fusion. Rey then hit the 619 and West Coast Pop on Finlay. Hogan suddenly got up from know where and scoop slammed Rey through a table, and covering him to win the World Heavyweight Title.

WWE Title Triple Threat Match- John Cena defeated Rob Van Dam & Chris Jericho to retain

In the best match of the night, John Cena defied the odds and defeated bot RVD and Y2J to retain his title. From the start, Jericho and Rob Van Dam were teaming up to destroy the champion, hitting him with an enziguri and the five-star frog splash. But when RVD went for the cover, the teamwork ended, with Y2J hitting RVD with the bulldog and lionsault. John Cena quickly hit the F-U on Y2J and applied the STF-U, making Y2J tap out. After the match, RVD and Y2J brawled out of the ring, and RVD hit the Van Daminator on Jericho.

Royal Rumble Match- Triple H wins

In a match full of surprises, it was the injured Triple H who lasted from number 6 to win the chance to main event Wrestlemania XXII. The first surprise of the night was the entry No#1, Jeff Hardy. The former WWE Tag Team Champion returned to a WWE ring after nearly 3 years away. But the No#2 draw was equally interesting, drawing Jeff's brother, Matt Hardy. The two squared off until SmackDown's Booker T ran to the ring, as entrant No#3. The Hardy Boyz quickly dispatched of him, and were seemingly working well as a unit, until Jeff double-crossed Matt and tossed him over the ropes. Matt looked on in disbelief, but that look was soon turned to delight, as the No#4 entrant, Lashley, ran to the ring. Despite Matt's interference, Jeff stayed in the ring when No#5, Kane, walked slowly to the ring, with his new World Tag Team Title. Kane gave both Jeff & Lashley a Chokeslam, and was about to throw them over, until Triple H's music hit, raising the roof of Madison Square Garden. Triple H dominated, nearly throwing both Kane & Lashley over the ropes, but both times Jeff Hardy attacked the Game, causing him to lose balance. No#7, Ken Kennedy, lasted 5 seconds, when everyone teamed up on him and threw him over the ropes. HHH and Kane decided to team up on the next entrant, until the No#8 himself, Kane's partner Big Show, ran to the ring. The tables turned on Triple H, who was soon fending off both men. Fortunatly for Triple H, Lashley nailed Big Show with a spear and hit the Dominator on Kane. Triple H decided that only he may dominate the ring, throwing Lashley over the ropes. No#9, Little Guido, hid under the ring for the rest of the match, not risking entry in the match. No#10, Mark Henry, made a huge impact, until being thrown over, seemingly by accident, by Jeff Hardy. The second surprise of the night was the return of Native American Tatanka, entering at No#11. The crowd reaction for the Lakota warrior was incredible. Tatanka somehow managed to eliminate Big Show on his own, but was soo thrown over by Kane. No#12, Paul London, sprinted to the ring, but after attacking everyone in the ring with punches from behind, was tossed over by Triple H. Jimmy Snuka came out No#13, but was ambushed by The Rock & Kimo before he could enter. They simply tossed him in, so Jeff Hardy could toss him out the ring. No#14, new man Christopher Daniels, showed he has no fear, hitting Kane with the Angel's Wings, and the Last Rites on Triple H. No#15 was Shawn Michaels, who defebded himself against an ambush from Kimo, who was on the recieving end of the Sweet Chin Music. HBK ran to the ring, and had a stare down with former partner and enemy Triple H. After a brief staredown, the former D-X partners pounded away at each other, with Triple H getting the advantage and hitting the Pedigree. No#16 was Birchall, who was quickly eliminated by HBK and HHH. No#17, Psychosis, dominated the ring, until No#18, fellow Mexicool Super Crazy, ran to the ring, where they attacked each other with a flurry of high flying moves. Triple H and Shawn Michaels didn't see the entertaining side of the moves, and threw the Mexicools over the top rope. No#19 was the Rated-R Superstar Edge, who quickly went to work on Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Unfortunately for Edge, Kane wasn't a fan of Edge, and assaulted him with a flurry of uppercuts to the jaw. No#20 was US Champion Tajiri, who rushed to the ring, hitting Edge with a flurry of kicks to the gut. He was quickly eliminated by No#21, Chavo Guerrero, who gave Tajiri a kick of his own. After hiding under the ring from entering No#9, Little Guido finally got in the ring, attacking Chavo Guerrero, when No#22, Kimo, came to the ring. He was quickly ganged up on by HHH & HBK, and was thrown out the ring by everyone, and was quickly joined on the floor outside by Shawn Michaels, who was eliminated by Jeff Hardy. Hardy also eliminated Chavo, who was celebrating on the top rope. No#23 was The Rock, who came out quickly, eliminating Kane with several punches to the face. Kane reacted angrily, and Tombstoned everyone in the ring, before leaving. When No#24, Carlito, came out, everyone was still down. In an attempt to gain an advantage, he tried to throw Triple H & The Rock over at the same time, when they turned around and threw him over. No#25 was FBI member Chuck Palumbo, who eliminated Little Guido, and Little Guido eliminated Chuck Palumbo, both falling out the ring at the same time. No#26 was Brian Kendrick, who was quickly thrown over by The Rock, after failed attacks on everyone. No#27, Kurt Angle, came out to a huge cheer by the crowd. He made a big impact, nearly eliminating Triple H twice. The penultimate surprise came from No#28, Goldust. The Bizarre One threw The Rock over the ropes, before Kurt Angle eliminated him. No#29 was a big surprise and a huge chance for one Gregory Helms. The second best draw of the night, Gregory Helms nearly eliminated Kurt Angle, and held his own very well in the match. No#30 was Ken Shamrock, who eliminated Helms and Angle in an instance. The final three were Triple H, who entered No#6, Jeff Hardy, who entered No#1, and Ken Shamrock, who was the last entry. Shamrock and Triple H teamed up on Jeff Hardy, but the Game eliminated Shamrock from behind. Jeff Hardy threw HHH over the top, and thought he had won, only to discover only one of Triple H's feet touched the ground. At the second attempt, the Game reversed a clothsline attempt and threw Hardy over the top, to win a chance to face the WWE Champion at Wrestlemania!
