NWA:TNA #1 - "Inaugural Brawl"

19th June 2002

Dark Match: David Young vs. Jimmy Yang

Before the official Pay-Per-View presentation commences, the live audience is treated to an exclusive pre-show match between two of the hottest prospects in Total Nonstop Action. Most fans recognize Yang from his stint in World Championship Wrestling as part of the Jung Dragons faction, but much less is known about NWA Wildside regular David Young. 'The Messiah of the Spinebuster,' already a thirteen year pro, does his best to leave his mark on the crowd with an impressive display of strength for such a small worker. In the end, though, speed would ultimately prevail, as the Korean high-flier dispatches of his opponent with a Corkscrew Moonsault for the win. [55%]

A sensational pyrotechnic display signals the dawn of a new era, as the National Wrestling Alliance and iN DEMAND proudly present Total Nonstop Action. The camera pans the length of the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama before finally settling at ringside, where Mike Tenay is standing by with Don West. 'The Professor' welcomes us to NWA:TNA, where the stage is set for an NWA World Heavyweight Title bout tonight, as reigning champion Dan 'The Beast' Severn defends against the 'World's Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock inside the Lion's Den. Also tonight, TNA's own Joel Gertner will be on-hand to reveal the participants of next week's Miss TNA Lingerie Battle Royal, but first, former WCW United States Champion Konnan is in the ring! K-Dawg is already equipped with a microphone and, after his usual opening spiel, he introduces the X-Division. It isn't about weight limits, he explains, it's about NO limits and that's what we're gonna see right now. He goes on to introduce a man that's been making waves across the East Coast, 'The Phenomenal' AJ Styles, and his opponent, a two-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion Psicosis! The two close friends share a warm embrace and presumably reminisce on their time in Mexico together, before AJ comes between them. Konnan steps up to the cocky upstart but suffers a disrespectful slap across the face. Before K-Dawg can retaliate, referee Mark Johnson separates them and orders Konnan from the ring, though he opts to stick around in his amigo's corner. [66%]

AJ Styles vs. Psicosis (with Konnan)

With the youngster firmly established as a dislikable character, the crowd are fully motivated to show their support for the Mexican veteran. Let it be said that if this match were to serve as a sign of things to come, the future is indeed bright for the X-Division. For almost ten solid minutes the two men battle courageously and, with the first TNA X-Division Champion set to be crowned next week, they left nothing behind in their bid to steal the show. AJ's bad attitude would soon come back to haunt him as he intimidates Mark Johnson, provoking the referee to turn a blind eye when Konnan returns to the ring and levels him with the Rolling Thunder lariat, leaving Styles vulnerable to the Guillotine Legdrop. The three count is academic as Psicosis claims a massive scalp, writing himself into the history books as TNA's first ever competitive victor. Psicosis and Konnan share a final embrace before heading to the back to celebrate, leaving AJ Styles to feel justifiably swindled. [74%]

Mike Tenay turns our attention backstage, where a commotion between Jeff Jarrett and the NWA Championship Consultant Ricky Steamboat is breaking out. 'The Chosen One' is questioning Ken Shamrock's entitlement to a championship match and insists he is a more deserving candidate. When 'The Dragon' refuses to comply with Jarrett's demands, the threat of physicality becomes a real possibility, until Scott Hall emerges on the scene. 'The Bad Guy' asks if there's a problem, prompting Double J to back away from Steamboat. Jarrett and Hall face off and talk trash for a while, before Hall makes his leave after insisting they'll be seeing each other soon. With his rival's back turned, Jarrett sees the opportunity to launch an attack, beating Hall around the backstage area. After laying him out, Jarrett hastily makes his exit, leaving Ricky Steamboat to call for a medic. [88%]

Not really liking it that much . the textures on the planets aren't that realisitc. the stars are ok and the ship seems to fit in ok . I'd work on texturing the planets and making them look more realistic
