My First Graphic

This is my first piece of work in photoshop. I couldn't think of anything to put in the yellow, so I just left it blank. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me.

For a first banner, it looks pretty good. The purple sort of throws it off and the yellow seperation bar sort of makes it look too busy. Maybe cut off the bottom black part and put the text in the yellow bar? Just a suggestion. Good Job.

Is it simple? Yes. Does it work? Yes, especially for a beginner. It doesn't have to have a shitload of effects to look good and this graphic does it's job. Though as you get into it more and more, using more than just a black background could help you gain some more criticism other than "it is to dark".

Try finding a picture of a football field, or just some grass close-up and fade it into the background so you can just about make it out.

Made a quick (5 minutes quick) adjustment.

Shouldn't the line be White? I don't know of to many goal lines that are yellow.

It's supposed to represent the yellow first down line they show on TV I believe.

As for further improvements, I'd try changing the background above the line back to just black, leaving the pitch visible under the line as it is. And try adding a 1px black border.
