WWF: From Vengeance '01

Havn't commented in a while, but the shows are gradually getting better and better here as we head towards the Royal Rumble. The most significant improvement is the increased focus on the Canadian Horsemen. You've really stepped it up here, and they've become the focal point of the show. Also, you're RR card is looking very interesting. Booker T trying to avoid facing the APA is great, and reminds me of Edge & Christian's exploits mid 2000 in dodging Faarooq and Bradshaw. Good way to put the APA over also. The Raven stuff is great, albeit somewhat typical of the way Raven seems to be pushed in diaries. The Jeff/Lita passionate kiss was a very WWE-ish moment and adds a bit of fuel to their feud which might bring out a more brutal side in Matt. I thought Taker/Michaels might have been a nice WrestleMania match, but then again, it's probably better for the Rumble. That way Taker can keep his WM streak and HBK can make a successful return to the ring. And I have no idea who's going to win the Rumble.

To sum things up ... this continues to improve in it's sheer sexy-ness and I commend you sir.

ps. just noticed you left feedback in my diary (Y)

We begin RAW with a handicap match made last week, as Raven's lackeys take on Kane. Raven told Crash Holly and Stevie Richards that they had better win this match, and Raven is not a man you want to defy. Unfortunately for them, the Big Red Machine proved more of a challenge than they had ever faced before, and he was just one Choke Slam away from picking up the victory. With his hand grasped around Stevie's throat, Raven saw fit to interfere, and take out the legs of Kane before hitting a Raven Effect for good measure. Stevie then covered for the three count. Afterwards, all three men put the boots to the monster. Once backstage, as you can guess, Raven was none to pleased and announced that on Thursday night he would face Kane and "show them how it's done."

In his office, Ric Flair talked about how The Canadian Horsemen continue to be a thorn in his side, with everything they do. More specificially though, he's noticed a list of challenges that Don Callis is making Stone Cold Steve Austin succeed for no apparent reason, other than to weaken him up before his championship match. Flair says that he has his own personal challenge for one of the Horsemen tonight. In fact, it's up next, and Christian will face Tazz! Well, the match rolled right around, and the fans were against Christian from the start. After tearing it up, it would be the fans that actually cost Christian the match in the end after chants of "We Want Tables" distracted Christian and allowed Tazz to lock in the Tazzmission! Greater men have tried to withstand the punishment, but it was too much and Christian was KO'd.

Booker T's efforts to sway The APA continued this week, as he met them in the corridor. He had another proposition for them, and said that the three of them could team up instead of being enemies, and take down those Canadian bastards. After all, no-one likes the Canadian Horsemen. Unluckily, those words happened to leave Booker's mouth just as the Undisputed Champion was walking by. Irate at Booker's comments, he demanded a match later on in the evening; promising to beat some respect into the "assclown." He then asked if the APA had anything to say, who let out a casual "no" in the middle of their laughter. Things just aren't looking too good for Booker T, who then stormed off leaving the APA rather amused.

Jeff Hardy was able to defeat Chavo Guerrero fairly easily with Lita in his corner, but it wasn't until after the match that things seemed to spiral out of control. The return of Matt Hardy to our television screens for the first time this week meant bad news for Jeff, who had seen him kissing Lita on TV. A chairshot followed by a Twist of Fate onto said chair was Jeff's punishment, leaving him in a semi-conscious state for Lita to worry over. Matt left after giving her the dirtiest of looks after fulfilling what he wanted to accomplish.

On the brighter side of romance, Torrie thanked Billy Kidman for his help recently with a kiss on the lips, leaving the young Cruiserweight stunned. After an awkward moment, Torrie kissed him again, with 100% more tongue. The pair smiled as the kiss came to an end and looked into each other's eyes. The two then left together; for reasons I am going to leave up to your imaginations; you dirty dogs.

In a match to Booker's dismay, he and Chris Jericho fought next in a fairly even matchup for the Undisputed Championship. Of coure, there was never any chance that Booker would win, as Jericho was fueled by anger from Booker's downright disrespectful comments earlier in the evening. Jericho picked up the victory after a Lionsault and headed to the back with his championship held high, proving he is still the best.

We now cut to backstage where Edge and Van Dam are being held apart from ripping each other to shreds. Van Dam promises revenge on Edge for the interference last week, and tells him that he can't hide for much longer. RVD leaves the scene for his match with Tajiri; which he wins rather easily. After the match, Rob Van Dam's celebrations are cut short as Edge makes his way to the ring! Luckily, he's got it covered and the charging Edge is blasted with a Van Daminator out of nowhere. RVD then holds the Intercontinental Championship high and promises it's only a matter of time before he is wearing the belt.

In another challenge promoted by Don Callis, he introduces another "Canadian sensation" in Chad Collyer, who is facing Stone Cold Steve Austin in a singles match. Well, if two of Callis' finest couldn't get the job done on Thursday night, then Collyer sure as hell had no chance. Austin had his way with Collyer throughout the entire match, showing that he could wrestle as well as Arn Anderson if he wanted to. Granted, Collyer boasted some excellent skills during the match, but his opponent was Stone Cold freakin' Austin for God's sake, and Austin picked up yet another victory. Irate, Callis got in the ring and yelled in Austin's face, only to receive a Stunner for his efforts. RAW then ended with yet another beer bash, as things begin to look up for the number one contender.

Thursday, 17th January 2002

We are one stop away from this year's Royal Rumble event, and to open the show we cut straight in to an 'earlier today' video. We see Kurt Angle backstage, moaning about the lack of respect he's received since incorporating his new style of pro-wrestling, when he is suddenly approached by The Rock. Rocky tells Angle to stop complaining because The Rock is willing to give Angle's idea a go. Estatic, Angle asks how Rocky plans to test it out; to which The Great One replies by taking his boot, shining it up real nice, turning that son of a bitch sideways and sticking it straight up Angle's Olympic Ass! Irate, Angle demands The Rock meet him in the ring tonight, to which The Rock happily obliges.

In the first match of the evening, William Regal is once again being used as a prop in the on-going feud between Edge and Rob Van Dam. This week, he is facing his former advesary Edge, which makes a nice change from his weeks of facing The Whole Dam Show. His hope is to finally be acknowledged by the Intercontinental Champion and receive the shot he's been eager for since Vengeance. Unfortunately, both Edge and Rob Van Dam have got bigger things on their mind, like getting the last word leading in to the Royal Rumble. Rob Van Dam does just that, as he gets involved in the match late on, blasting Edge with a chair-assisted kick while the referee's back is turned. Regal shrugs, seeing his opportunity to hold a pinfall victory over the champion, and makes the cover for the three count. Once recovered, Edge looks on at the smug RVD with a look of hatred in his eyes. Both men will meet in just days time to determine the better man once and for all.

Test is walking backstage, rather cockily, when he turns the corner and runs in to the seven foot, five hundred pound monster in The Big Show. Test, who is no stranger to Show as of late, does not back down as the two face off. Show tells Test that he thinks the way he's been acting lately has been out of order, and he'd love to see him try and manhandle the giant. Test says that he's in luck, because he's been left off the card tonight; how about they meet later on in the ring? Show happily agrees and the match is set. The two go their seperate ways without coming to blows - this time!

The Rock's match with Kurt Angle is next, and the two sure as hell take each other to the limit. In a match that sold out No Way Out 2001 and boasted one of the best matches of the 2000's era, Rocky was able to do just what he promised to do earlier in the night and get one over on Kurt Angle. Angle, who's been on an unlucky streak lately was none to happy after being hit with the Rock Bottom, People's Elbow and being pinned. Never the less Angle holds true to his new style and shakes The Rock's hand, a new respect earned on both men's behalf. Who knows when Kurt Angle's luck will start to look up, but I'm sure the fans are happy with the current arrangement; so hold as they don't have to hear him whine!

Booker T's antics are next, as once again he storms into the APA's office. He looks blankly as he stands and they stare at him as if he were from Mars. After asking "what?" they inform him that he didn't use the door. He shrugs it off and continues to speak, only for them to turn their attention back to their smoke-engulfed game of cards. Booker demands they listen, but is again told to "use the door." Hesitantly, Booker obliges, knocking on the door three times. Bradshaw tells him to come in and the APA greet him happily when he enters. Booker isn't impressed and says that nothing seems to be working for him. He then gets on his knees and begs the APA to call off the match. Bradshaw says that if Booker can find them another pack of this fine West Virginian beer, then they'd call it off. Booker leaves and Bradshaw breaks down into a fit of laughter. It's gonna be quite a task finding West Virginian beer in Los Angeles!

Ric Flair is in his office now, as he talks about the gauntlets Stone Cold Steve Austin has had to run in order to get to the Undisputed Champion; Chris Jericho. He says that since the past few weeks have been so damn unfair on the number one contender, that to coin a phrase from his partner Vince McMahon, "in the interest of fairness" tonight should be the night that Stone Cold Steve Austin gets a little vengeance on the Canadian Horsemen. So, tonight, Austin gets to take his frustrations out on the man that's made his life hell as of late; Don Callis. The two will meet in the ring in the main event of the evening; and if any body tries to interfere, then Chris Jericho will be stripped of the Undisputed Championship and the belt will go to the winner of this year's Royal Rumble. He wishes both Callis and Austin - moreso Callis - good luck tonight.

In another match made earlier on in the evening, Test meets The Big Show in the ring. Both men have had their fair share of differences over the past few weeks, with Show being a part of the minority out to put an end to the Canadian Horsemen's reign of hell over the World Wrestling Federation. Unfortunately for the saviors of the WWF, Test continued his streak of dominance by pinning Show after a Big Boot. After the match he grabbed a steel chair from ringside and proceeded to smash it across Big Show's spine a number of times, before boasting about how he was untouchable. He made his way to the back, looking very pleased with himself, as Show recovered from the weapon attack.

In another pre-recorded interview, The Undertaker is sitting at a bar talking about how he has overcome everything that life has thrown at him so far. The death of his parents, the betrayal of Paul Heyman, his battles with Kane, and most recently; his disposing of the trash that is Shawn Michaels. He says that it seems as though whatever the big man upstairs wants to throw his way it just isn't enough to keep the big dog down, and he promises that now he has nothing more to worry about, his mind is clearly set for winning this year's Royal Rumble. He promises that if he has to go through The Rock, Booker T, Kane or Rikishi; he will. And if he then has to go through the entire Canadian Horsemen to get to Jericho's belt at WrestleMania; he will. He promises that 2002 will be the year of the dead man, and you all had better believe it.

In this next match, Raven promised to set an example to his followers of Stevie Richards and Crash Holly by doing what they couldn't do on their own last week and beating The Big Red Machine; Kane. The match was officially a European Championship defence for Kane, but Raven's intentions were never on picking up the belt. Instead, he wanted to send a message to the entire WWF that he was a force to be reckoned with, and with his stablemates at his side no one could get to him, and he was on his way up the ladder in the WWF, soon to be Undisputed Champion. Of course, none of this held true during the match, and Kane was able to get the better of Raven for the entire match, before wrapping his hand around Raven's throat. Raven then kicked Kane downstairs and fled the ring, grabbed a trash can and returned, only for the weapon to be booted back into Raven's face. Kane then signalled for a Powerbomb and blasted Raven right atop the trash can. The referee chose to ignore the weapon as Raven had in fact brought it into play, and counted to three; another succesful title defence for The Big Red Machine.

Backstage now is Billy Kidman; pacing the corridors. He unfolds a piece of paper which asks him to meet Torrie Wilson in this spot, but she is nowhere to be seen. He asks a few of the staff if they've seen her, and they inform him that she was given the night off earlier this evening. She blew him off? Kidman's got no time to be pissed off or upset though, as he is suddenly attacked by Tajiri from behind, who yells some strong Japanese curse words at him. In conclusion, Tajiri demands to know why Kidman kissed his woman, even though she hasn't been "his woman" since his little incident with The Hurricane last week. So, Tajiri wrote the note to lure Kidman here, and then attacked him. Damn, even the Japanese can formulate genius plans!

It's main event time, folks! Here comes Don Callis looking less than impressed at the fact that he has to wrestle Stone Cold Steve Austin. He is wearing an all-black traditional wrestling get-up complete with arm and knee pads. He tries to warm up in the ring but nothing is going to prepare him for the beating he's about to experience. The Glass Shatters, and here comes Stone Cold with the biggest smile on his face. Grinning from ear to ear, he ascends all four turnbuckles and taunts the crowd, making Callis wait. After he's done, the bell rings and Callis' face goes white. He prompts for a traditional lock up but Callis just gets thrown back to the ground. Austin holds off and the two lock up again, only for the same result. The third and final lock up results in Austin breaking it and unleashing all hell on Callis; punches, kicks, stomps, slaps, chops. The rest of the match, as you might have guessed, follows a similiar formula, until Austin blasts the annoying mouthpiece of the Canadian Horsemen with a Stunner with pins 1-2-3! There was never any doubt that Austin was going to win, and there was to be no interference. Jericho appears on the stage afterwards and the two stare each other down; just days away from their big match at the Royal Rumble. The final show before the Rumble fades with this intense staredown.

World Wrestling Federation Presents

Royal Rumble 2002: Final Card

Royal Rumble Match

Featuring 30 Top WWF Superstars

For fourteen years the Royal Rumble has been one of the highlights of the WWF calendar. This year will be no exception as thirty men step into the squared circle once again in an attempt to be the last man standing. With the grand prize being a title shot in the main event of the Grandaddy of 'em all; WrestleMania X8. How will The Rock fair after being given the number one entry by a corrupt Vince McMahon? Who will Ric Flair's number thirty be? How will the likes of Booker T, John Kronus and Kurt Angle fair against the other thirty men? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure; the winner of this year's Royal Rumble is without a doubt the most athletic superstar in the WWF today. Not many superstars can last the hour-long match, but one man will be able to do it this Sunday, live on Pay Per View!

WWF Undisputed Championship

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho © w/ Don Callis

This match has been brewing ever since Vengeance, when Chris Jericho walked away with the Undisputed Championship after a little help from Lance Storm. Stone Cold Steve Austin wasn't exactly happy with the result and since then both men have made each other's life a living hell. Since the formation of Jericho's Canadian Horsemen, though, thing's have been on quite a downer for The Texas Rattlesnake, only for his luck to peak over the past week. Who will walk out with the Undisputed Championship when it's all said and done? It's anyone's guess, and it could go either way. The only way to find out is to tune in to the Royal Rumble this Sunday night!

WWF Intercontinental Championship

Rob Van Dam vs. Edge ©

The Intercontinental Title scene is one of the hottest spots in the WWF today. With the likes of William Regal, Booker T, Edge and Rob Van Dam headlining the incredible display of athleticism during title bouts, there seems to have been a rivalry building over the past few weeks between Rob Van Dam and Edge. It began with Regal attempting to reclaim the Intercontinental Title from Edge, and ended with vicious post-match assaults from either competitor. While neither are particularly bad guys, it'll certainly be interesting to see which babyface the fans get behind this Sunday night, and it'll be an exciting match from start to finish in a match that determines the WWF Intercontinental Championship once and for all.

WWF Tag Team Championships

The Canadian Horsemen (Test & Christian) vs. The Dudley Boyz ©

Since it's inception, the Canadian Horsemen have ran wild in the World Wrestling Federation, even claiming to run the show. Well, ever since Vengeance, Test and Christian have made their intentions known to the world; that they want the WWF Tag Team Championships. Unfortunately, the current champions The Dudley Boyz are no push overs and will not give up the belts without a fight. Well, this Sunday night the two teams will collide in the Dudleyz' speciality match; The Tables Match. This stipulation came about after Test viciously Powerbombed WWF Co-Owner Ric Flair through a table. Well, The Horsemen are going to have to work their asses off to pull one over on arguably the greatest tag team of all time. Can they beat the champs at their own game? You'll have to tune in to the Royal Rumble live on Pay Per View to find out!

Handicap Match

Booker T vs. The APA

After losing to Rob Van Dam under the stipulation the loser faces The APA in a Handicap Match at the Royal Rumble; Booker T has tried everything in his power to get out of this match. Unluckily for him, he has failed, and will in fact be taking on the veteran tag team this Sunday at the Royal Rumble. This is a match the APA are very much looking forward to, and one which will probably knock Booker sick in the lead up to the Royal Rumble. Will he be able to overcome the odds and defeat Faarooq and Bradshaw, or will The APA clock up yet another victory? It'll be an interesting encounter, either way, and one you certainly do not want to miss.

No Holds Barred Match

Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy w/ Lita

This feud has been brewing for months and months, as the former partners, the brothers have both hit boiling point. It began with a few mistakes on Matt's behalf, accidentally hurting Lita and costing her a few matches and jealousy rushing through his blood. Most thought it would be over after Vengeance when Matt demanded he and his brother met in a match which saw Lita don the referee's outfit, but after a mistake on her behalf costing Matt the match, they broke up, and Matt's jealousy spiraled out of control; even going as far as to beat his brother down with a lead pipe! Well this Sunday night, the two will meet in a No Holds Barred match. We can only hope the ring can contain both men's hatred for one another. It will surely be a violent encounter between two hate-fueled wrestlers.

Bonus Questions

1. How many Championships will change hands?

2. Who will be the mystery #30 entrant?

3. Who will win the 2002 Royal Rumble match?

Feel free to send your predictions this way. I'll think of a suitable prize for the winner.

Jericho def. Austin - Simply because if you actually want the Canadian Horsemen idea to work you cant exactly cut Jericho off a month prior to when he did get his legs cut down from under him. I see a long title reign for Jericho.

Edge def. Van Dam - I would rather see Edge and Regal be the main focus point of the IC title scenario, so thats why I hope Edge wins, that and He's a future ME whereas Rob's time has come and gone.

Dudleyz def. Horsemen - I see The Dudleyz winning this match, but not easily. Then at NWO it'll be time for the rubber match with Test and Christian having beaten The Dudleyz in a non-title match and then beating The Dudleyz for the titles perhaps in a Steel Cage match.

Booker def. APA - I always back the solo effort, regardless of their opponents.

Jeff def. Matt - Jeff won in real life, and well, he's more fun anyways. Get Matt onto his Mattitude shindig pronto, it was superb.

1) No Title Changes.

2) Errrr, Golderg? If not, it's defo Robocop.

3) Kurt Angle.

May I just say what a good diary this has been so far, and how entertaining some of the storylines have been. My favourite is the Angle one, as somewhere down the line I just see him snapping and turning heel again.

For my predictions.

Jericho to defeat Austin, have to agree with Ten Speed that if the Canadian Horsemen were to work, Jericho couldn't lose his title straight away. There's always the possibility of a no contest, but considering its such a big PPV, I'd imagine not.

Edge over RVD, but I definately see Regal getting involved in someone, possibly a botched interference on Van Dam and having a three way feud heading to 'Mania.

The Dudleyz over Test/Christian, you can't have the Dudley Boyz completely losing their heat, and I'm not sure you'd need to give the Horsemen two major titles so quickly as that may border on shoving them down our throats.

Booker T to beat the APA, he's been trying to get out of the match for that long, I'd imagine he'd overcome the odds and actually win.

Matt Hardy over Jeff Hardy, I don't know if this feud will end here, and Matt may pick up a cheap victory or have Lita turn on Jeff and try and win back Matt. That's my guess anyway.

1. How many Championships will change hands? None.

2. Who will be the mystery #30 entrant? Either Goldberg, Sting or DDP, but as the above went for Goldberg, I'll pick Sting.

3. Who will win the 2002 Royal Rumble match? Tossing up between Angle and Kane, but I'll pick Angle.

My Predictions:

Chris Jericho def. Steve Austin: I just can't see Jericho dropping the belts so soon after winning them.

Edge vs. Rob Van Dam - No Contest: I can see the interference from Regal which'll set up a Triple Threat somewhere down the line.

The Dudley Boyz def. Christian & Test: This feud will probably end up continuing and I don't think the Dudleyz will lose their own Tables Match.

Booker T def. APA: Booker needs this victory more than the APA does.

Matt Hardy def. Jeff Hardy: Matt needs a big win and one over his brother should do it.

Bonus Questions

1. None

2. Triple H

3. Kurt Angle

Predictions:

WWF Title Match: Chris Jericho

- there is absolutely no way that you'll take the title off of Jericho here, considering that was more or less the main focus of the diary.

IC Title Match: Rob Van Dam

- I see RVD taking the title and possibly leading to a heel turn for Edge

Tag Title Match: Christian & Test

- Probably wrong here, but I'm seeing Storm's interference leading to the CH scoring an upset and taking the tag belts. If not here, I expect the CH to take the titles in a rematch at No Way Out.

Handicap Match: Booker T

- Booker somehow pulls this one out of his ass.

Matt vs Jeff: Matt Hardy

- Matt seems to be the one getting the big push out of this feud and he need's a win here to really elevate him.

Bonus:

1. Two

2. Not sure, I'm going to go for an outside shot and say Kevin Nash.

3. The Rock makes the most sense in terms of a WM main event, but an Angle win and face turn (with his new gimmick) could also work well.

Jericho defeats Austin - It makes sense. Not only is he the focal point of your diary, but he is Chris Jericho. It's going to be a good match.

Edge retains against Rob Van Dam - Van Dam will get his shot again, but I do feel Edge right now is the more credible man to keep the IC strap on.

The Dudley Boyz retain against Christian and Test - It is going to be a good match, with some interference by Lance Storm, but that is also going to get Lance put through a table.

Booker T defeats the APA - Booker wins, because he is the BOOKER MAN!

Matt Hardy defeats Jeff Hardy - Mattitude better come out of this entire fued, and a main event push too.

Bonus Questions

1. Zero.

2. Triple H

3. Kurt Angle, America vs. Canada in the Wrestlemania main event.

WWF Undisputed Championship

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho © w/ Don Callis

As the others said, Jericho can't lose here or else everything falls flat on it's face.

WWF Intercontinental Championship

Rob Van Dam vs. Edge ©

Let's face it, RVD is a lot more interesting.

WWF Tag Team Championships

The Canadian Horsemen (Test & Christian) vs. The Dudley Boyz ©

If this is to be a Horsemen night, then it shall be a Horsemen night.

Handicap Match

Booker T vs. The APA

I don't really see Booker getting the victory here. I mean he'll probably bounce back anyways, but the APA were always pushed to be the big "punishment", and it seems like it's continuing here, so Booker gets punished.

No Holds Barred Match

Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy w/ Lita

Matt is the more interesting here, so go with him. But this feud can still be pulled to Mania because there's plenty of life in it.

Bonus Questions

1. How many Championships will change hands? Two.

2. Who will be the mystery #30 entrant? Mr. Perfect! A feller can hope, can't he?

3. Who will win the 2002 Royal Rumble match? Angle would be a good call to go for here.

Jericho def. Austin

Well, it would just be a bit silly to have Jericho lose the title after he only just got his hands on it. Afterall, this diary was originally about the Canadian Horsemen, allthough i fail to see as much Jericho in your diary as i should.

Edge def. Van Dam

At the time, i'd say Edge was a far more credible person to be holding the title. However, giving it to RVD would be interesting..

The Horsemen def. The Dudleyz

I like the team of Christian and Test and would like to see them win. Like everyone else has been saying, a Lance Storm interference leading to the victory and title change sounds like the best idea.

Booker def. APA

Well, i don't know why i should expect anything else. Things like this allways end up going to the underdog.

Jeff def. Matt

Make Matt angrier. I larv it~!

1) 1 Title Change.

2) Triple H, he would of returned by now in real life, i can't see you waiting that long to have him return.

3) Triple H.
