I know about the Minibosses and I know there are plenty of other bands but I just can't remember their names.

So what are some good bands out there?

In addition to The Black Mages that stokes mentioned (even though they don't quite fit in what you want ) would be HORSE The Band and Machinae Supremacy. MS have a TON of material available for d/l at www.machinaesupremacy.com, and HORSE The Band is worth checking out just because they rock ass.

Anamanaguchi is a Japanese (i think) band who use 8-bit tracks and then distort and amplify them to get the desired effects. I suggest giving them a listen
