With Texas Tech's 70-68 victory over New Mexico, Bob Knight surpassed Dean Smith to be the undisputed winningest coach in NCAA basketball history.

Say what you will about him personally (and heaven knows it's been said, and I've said some of it), but the guy knows how to teach basketball, and I'll just focus on that. Congratulations.

Yeah, controversial indeed. I actually remember some announcer comparing him to Barry Bonds as far as the whole "got the record, but it feels tainted" thing, which I personally think is ridiculous because while Knight did do something wrong in his case, the situation also had no effect on his record like Bonds's case did.
