…Epilogue…

In the mid to late 1990’s one independent wrestling promotion was rated the best there was at the time. All Pro Wrestling has always been best known for having the best professional wrestling training school in the country, and the APW Boot Camp was the only training school featured on the film “Beyond The Mat.” Many top graduates have earned a living in WWE, TNA, WCW, ECW, Mexico, Japan, etc... Top Graduates include: Brother Runt (Spike Dudley), The Great Kahli (Dalip Singh), Gunner Scott (Brent Albright), Crash Holly, Bobby Quance, “Cheerleader” Melissa Anderson, Sara Del Rey, Michael Modest, Vic Grimes, Bison Smith, and Donovan Morgan. Some of the graduates on the verge of making it are: Kafu, J. J. Perez, Nathan Rulez, Derek Sanders, and referee Tom Castor.

In the past few years, however, APW has relied heavily on the funds supplied by the students of the Boot Camp. While the APW Boot Camp has always been the spotlight of the company, the recent financial losses of the company have been more noticeable than ever before. APW has brought in several big name stars during the year of 2006 in hopes to bring in more fans and more money. Such stars include: The Sandman, Kip & BG James, Steve Corino, Petey Williams, America’s Most Wanted, Ron Killings, and even Kamala. APW talent have made friends and connections with some of the top name talent that has been brought in for appearances, but as the year comes to an end, APW still finds itself struggling to stay alive. Recent troubles even come to the company from a student threatening to sue the company after he was suspended from the Boot Camp. Roland Alexander, who owns APW has taken himself off camera and out of the managerial role to focus completely on running the Boot Camp. Gabe Ramirez, while playing the role of Commissioner on camera, is also in charge of trying to get APW talent booked in other companies as well as bringing in outside talent. Jason Deadrich is the head agent, making sure the locker room morale stays positive and that the shows run smoothly. With the three men who are running the company being busy with everything else, they needed another person to handle booking the events.

Roland Alexander has asked several of the current Boot Camp students if they would be interested in helping run the company and buying their share of the company, but the majority of them turned it down. Only one man was interested: Buddy Awesome. A staff meeting was set to take place on Thursday, 28 September 2006 consisting of the three men who run APW, and Buddy Awesome, for them to see what exactly it is that Buddy thinks he has to offer to the company. After several confidential programs and gimmicks were brought to the table, Roland, Gabe, and Jason decided to think about it amongst themselves for the rest of the month, and that Buddy should expect an e-mail on the first of the month with their decision. Over the next two nights, Buddy had a hard time sleeping, his hopes high on getting the position within All Pro Wrestling…

…Sunday, 1 October 2006…

Buddy Awesome woke up early to check his e-mail, and sure enough he found a message waiting for him, sent by Roland Alexander. “Dear: Buddy Awesome… Jason, Gabe and I have decided to give you a trial position in All Pro Wrestling as head writer and booker.” Buddy was shocked, as he read on… “APW is in need of serious help, and we feel that some of your ideas could be very good for the company. It’s no secret that APW is under-staffed, we need a full time production crew and another announcer. A few backup writers couldn’t hurt. We also need a medic, and a head trainer for the Boot Camp. These new recruits are just so disrespectful to the APW faithful who are training them, so I figure maybe we should bring in an old timer to shape the students up in the old school ways. I wish you the best of luck, and you have my complete support. No time to waste, time to get to work! Our next show is Halloween Hell from The Dome in Bakersfield, Saturday, 28 October, you have a lot of pressure on you with this show, so make it count. If you need anything, feel free to call or e-mail me. Now let’s get to business!”

Finding staff wasn’t too difficult… Mark Nulty was hired to do play by play along with Jermz. Nulty is best known for his website, WrestlingClassics.com. Larry Rivera from XPW fame was interested in the announcing job, but APW decided to go with Nulty, on the fact that the shows would seem more legitimate, and professional, instead of the cliché color commentators you see all over.

No more referees were really needed. Tom Castor and Kristina McGraw have done fine by themselves this past year, and that should continue. Henry Luna was released as a road agent, in what was seen as a budget cut. Jaseon Deadrich and Doug Anderson will remain on board with APW.

Elisar Cabrera was hired as the full time production man of APW, after reviewing some of his work, he seemed like a good choice for the job.

Ace Dynamite, a local doctor in Hayward and long time wrestling fan was picked up to be APW’s official medic, and will attend every show in case of emergency.

Julian Myers and Tom Stanley were selected to be writers for APW. Buddy was not overly interested in hiring back up writers, but, he had to do what he was being told by the higher ups.

Bill Ash was hired as the new APW Boot Camp head trainer. Bill Ash is a legend from the 1970’s, who has had notable feuds with the likes of Ted Oates, Robert Gibson, and Chavo Guerrero Sr. The hopes of this is to give the students of the boot camp a lesson in respect while being trained in the old school ways of wrestling.

Metabolife, AND 1, General Mills, and LucasArts Games have agreed to sponsor All Pro Wrestling.

APW is also increasing the money that will be spent on merchandise. This increase will first be recognized at the upcoming Halloween Hell show in Bakersfield. It’s rumored that there will be merchandise for every wrestler available!

After a busy day finding staff and sponsors for the company, the day was almost over. It’s time for a review of the current APW Roster…

The Internet Championship is the second biggest prize in APW, with every title match able to be downloaded for free on ClickWrestle.com. This belt is a good way for people to get noticed by everybody all around the world. The Tag Team Championships are what every team wants to hold. E.G.O. have defended those belts against the best from APW and other companies, including TNA’s James Gang and America’s Most Wanted.

With the day coming to an end, Buddy Awesome is happy that he has done everything he possibly could have accomplished in the first day on the job. Rumors all over the place are saying that professional wrestling is about to make huge attempts to get the business going back in a good shape by the time that the new year comes. Buddy apparently has come into the business at a good time. What could the future have in store for Buddy Awesome on his new mission?

…Monday, 02 October 2006…

The first thing Buddy Awesome did this morning was check his e-mail for what’s going on in other companies. A lot of smaller promotions released a lot of the bigger name workers. Combat Zone Wrestling signed several big stars. Of note, WWE & NWA:TNA both made a lot of budget cut releases…

WWE released: Jason Riggs, Drew Hankinson, Kharma, Johnny Riggs, Dorian Deville, Ryan O’Reilly, Ryan Reeves, Mac Johnson, Steve Lewington, Mike Taylor, and Palmer Cannon.

TNA released: Sirelda, So Cal Val, A-1, Trytan, D-Ray 3000, Puma, Jerrelle Clark, David Young, Eric Young, Roderick Strong, and Ms. Brooks.

APW has become interested in Puma, and could possibly bring him back in to APW in the future. Puma is a former APW Internet Champion. Also, ROH released Brent Albright, who APW are also interested in.

…Tuesday, 03 October 2006…

This morning, Tony Jones insulted several of APW’s stars during a phone in radio show. He has been suspended for the rest of the month for this.

The mass firings continue throughout the wrestling world in all of the smaller and bigger companies. Here are the transactions within the big two…

WWE released: Michelle McCool, Queen Sharmell, Kevin Federline, The Zombie, Al Snow, Jim Duggan, Roddy Piper, Jerry Lawler, Vladimir Kozlov, Dean Visk and Chris Cage.

TNA released: Cassidy Riley, Jay Lethal, Gail Kim, Scott D’Amore, Johnny Devine, Apolo, Andy Douglas, Tomko and Shocker.

All of the releases from WWE aren’t much of a surprise. Except for Jerry Lawler, Al Snow, Kevin Federline, and Vladimir Kozlov, the other released workers were mostly just floating around. Al Snow comes as a bit of a surprise, because of the talent he has, and Kozlov seemed to be ready for a push to the main roster soon. As for Lawler, reasons are still unknown. The plan for now is that WWE will replace him with Eric Bischoff as RAW’s color commentator. APW is very interested in Kevin Federline, and are going to bein negotiations soon. From TNA, the only real surprise releases are those of Tomko and Andy Douglas. With Douglas gone, it’s likely that Chase Stevens will soon be released as well. APW is interested in Tomko, and Buddy Awesome feels that he has been misused in both TNA and WWE now.

…Wednesday, 04 October 2006…

WWE continues to release several of it’s workers. This time: Nattie Neidhart, Angel Williams, Big Guido, Brian Carlucci, Egotistico Fantastico, Tony Straddlin, Derrik Neikirk, Maryse Ouellet, Milena Roucka, Brad Armstrong, and Jillian Hall were the latest to be released.

…Thursday, 05 October 2006…

WWE released: Beth Phoenix, Afa Jr., Daniel Rodimer, Gregg Groothuis, Boris Alexiev, Idol Stevens, Kelly Kelly, Rory McAllister, Mikey Batts, Rebecca Dipietro, and Robbie McAllister.

Buddy Awesome reported that he was interested in Boris Alexiev.

…Friday, 06 October 2006…

WWE released: Mike Knox, Maria Kanellis, Mitch, K.C. James, Elijah Burke, Claudio Castagnoli, Matt Striker, Montell Vontavious Porter, Jesse, Lance Cade, and The Great Khali.

Buddy Awesome was somewhat interested in bringing The Great Khali back to APW, where he was trained, but after talking with Roland Alexander, all ideas of this suddenly came to a halt. While Khali (Dalip) was training with APW, Brian Ong, who was training with a concussion, was killed by Khali when he landed the bump improperly from a flapjack. The Ong family sued APW for 1.3 million dollars, and thus, Roland Alexander does not want Dalip Singh/Great Khali back in APW.

…Saturday, 07 October 2006…

WWE continues to release their workers! Jake, Rodney Mack, Trevor Murdoch, Nicky, Sylvester Terkay, Kristal Marshall, Trinity, Tatanka, Tony Mamaluke, Shad and Mikey are all released from their WWE contracts.

Buddy Awesome is very interested in Trinity and Shad. His hopes are high that JTG will also possibly be released, in which case Buddy would love to bring in Cryme Tyme.

…Sunday, 08 October 2006…

Johnny, Layla El, Ariel, Paul Burchill, Kevin Thorn, Chet The Jet, JTG, Matt Cappotelli, Vickie Guerrero, Johnny Parisi and The Boogey Man were the latest to be released from the WWE during the budget cut.

Buddy Awesome is now extremely interested in a few of these releases. Ariel, Paul Burchill, Kevin Thorn and JTG have been shortlisted, and Buddy is hoping to bring in one of these workers very soon to APW.

Gene Snitsky, TJ Wilson, Harry Smith, Viscera, Victoria, Deuce Shade, Dave Taylor, Candice Michelle, Danny Basham, Mark Henry and Jazz were the latest to be released from the WWE during the budget cut.

The only release that interested Buddy Awesome was that of Dave Taylor. Buddy Awesome claims to be much more a fan of the old school way of professional wrestling than that of modern times. Dave Taylor would definitely be an interesting fit to APW.

...Tuesday, 10 October 2006…

Ashley Massaro, Funaki, Chuck Palumbo, Sylvain Grenier, Mickie James, Jimmy Wang Yang, Rob Conway, Balls Mahoney, Kenny Dykstra, Jonathan Coachman, and Mike Mizanin were the latest to be released from the WWE during the budget cut.

...Wednesday, 11 October 2006…

MAIN EVENT

UNIVERSAL TITLE MATCH

Oliver John Vs. Kafu ©

Oliver John makes his All Pro Wrestling debut, and has a chance to win the Universal Title from Kafu. Oliver John has made his name known for being one of the best wrestlers around today, but can he stop the Brazilian Beast?

All Pro Wrangers Vs. Billy Blade & ???

Kid Omega announced earlier today that his mystery partner would be none other than his former partner, Kyu Ketsuki. Omega and Ketsuki are former APW Tag Team Champions, but Billy Blade still isn’t giving away any secrets as to who his mystery partner will be, so anything can happen!

INTERNET TITLE ELIMINATION MATCH

Scotty Aboot Vs. Derek Sanders Vs. J.J. Perez Vs. Mr. Prime Time

This should be a high flying showcase for the Internet Title, as MPT defends his belt against former Internet Champion J.J. Perez, former Universal Champion Derek Sanders, and Scotty Aboot. Who will walk out on top?

TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

Ground And Pound Vs. The Mafia Vs. E.G.O.

After coming off two successful title defenses against TNA tag teams, The James Gang and America’s Most Wanted, E.G.O. is riding higher than ever. But, they’re in for a challenge against two of APW’s finest teams who want to make those belts their own. Can E.G.O. outlast the newly formed team of Ground And Pound at the same time with former Tag Champs, The Mafia?

Sean Pulver Vs. Cheerleader Melissa

Cheerleader Melissa sets foot in the ring against a man who is on a losing streak in Sean Pulver. Melissa and Pulver have battled before, but this time Pulver is out to prove a mission after leaving Kafu’s side as his manager. If Pulver can beat Melissa this could put him in the top tier instantly! But if there’s one thing you should know about Melissa, it is to never count her out!

(Out Of Character: Predictions anybody? Also, it should be neat to see who you guys think Billy Blade’s mystery partner will be. Here’s to the re-birth of my diary, and it’s coming back better than ever!)

Announcers: Jermz & Mark Nulty

halloweenhell.jpg

The show starts off with the band GWAR playing a short concert in the ring, to hype up the fans for the upcoming show. After a heavy set, the crowd seemed pumped up. As soon as they were done playing, Sean Pulver hit the ring to try and dance with them. The band members just walked away leaving Pulver in the ring by himself for the opening match.

Awesome’s Notes: I’ve always been a fan of GWAR, it was fun having them play at the show, and what better show for them to play at then Halloween Hell. They got the fans hyped up, great show on their part, definitely worth the money.

”Sexy” Sean Pulver Vs. Cheerleader Melissa

Referee: Tom Castor

Sean Pulver was working his old gay gimmick again. This match was quick, just as Sean Pulver started the match with some offense, Melissa reversed a back body drop attempt with a kick to the face, then dropped Pulver with the Single Minor for the pin fall!

Winner: Cheerleader Melissa

DUD

Overall Rating: 45%

Crowd Reaction: 28%

Match Quality: 62%

Awesome’s Notes: Just a way for Melissa to pick up a quick win. Sean Pulver gained some overness for going back to his gay gimmick. I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping him on board APW for much longer or not, it’s hard to say. I think this match could have been a lot better than it was, and he definitely brought it down.

With The Mafia and Ground And Pound in the ring, E.G.O. and Johnny LaRocca come out and enter the ring. LaRocca got on the microphone to introduce them, and then went on to say that E.G.O. has moved on from being the best team in APW, to the best team in the world of wrestling after their wins over America’s Most Wanted and The James Gang. LaRocca said that he knew E.G.O. was in for a fight tonight, though, because he knows just how good of a team the challengers are!

Overall Rating: 59%

Awesome’s Notes: Johnny LaRocca always knows how to draw the heat on himself and his clients. Nathan Rulez and Johnny LaRocca gained a little overness from this interview.

3 TEAM TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

Ground And Pound Vs. The Mafia Vs. E.G.O. © w/ Johnny LaRocca

Referee: Kristina McGraw

E.G.O. stayed in their corner and let the other two teams battle it out, until A.J. Kirsch was tagged in by Vennis DeMarco. Kirsch came into a Tito Aquino who was on fire, and was hit with a few double team moves by Ground And Pound. Kirsch tagged out to Chris Colione, and shortly after every man was in the ring battling it out. In the midst of the brawl, Nathan Rulez powerbombed Chris Colione for the 1…2…3!

Winners: E.G.O. (Retaining Tag Team Champions)

3/4*

Overall Rating: 47%

Crowd Reaction: 24%

Match Quality: 71%

Awesome’s Notes: The Mafia lost overness, but the Tag Team titles gained in image. This match was kind of sloppy, and surprisingly there was no interaction between LaRocca and his former clients The Mafia. Ground And Pound looked really strong in their performance, but not quite ready for the top spot of the tag ranks.

After Scotty Aboot comes out to the ring for the upcoming match, then comes Derek Sanders and Payton. Payton gets on the microphone and tells us all that Derek is tired of being on the losing streak that he’s been on ever since he lost the Universal Title. She says that tonight marks the comeback of her man, and he will be the next Internet Champion!

Overall Rating: 42%

Awesome’s Notes: As much as I like Payton, her and Derek working as heels just doesn’t work for me. But, I’ll make the most of it for the time being. Both of them gained some overness from this interview, though.

INTERNET TITLE ELIMINATION MATCH

Scotty Aboot Vs. “The Heart of Fire” Derek Sanders w/ Payton Vs. “Mr. APW” J.J. Perez Vs. Mr. Prime Time ©

Referee: Tom Castor

All four men took to the air just as expected in this fast paced match. Within the first three minutes, MPT caught Derek Sanders who was about to dive off the top rope, with a DDT from the top rope! MPT pinned Derek and eliminated him from the bout. A few minutes after that, J.J. caught Aboot with the Shining Wizard to eliminate him. J.J. and MPT battled it out for a while, but when J.J. went for the 3rd Eclipse, MPT pushed him off, and jumped down with a Frog Splash to secure the win!

Winner: Mr. Prime Time (Retaining Internet Champion)

*1/4

Overall Rating: 51%

Crowd Reaction: 25%

Match Quality: 77%

Awesome’s Notes: Scotty Aboot lost overness, but the Internet title gained in image. This match was exactly what it was expected to be, fast paced action from start to finish. The fans wanted to see J.J. and MPT go at it a while longer like they have before, maybe down the line they’ll be able to again.

Kid Omega and Billy Blade are in the ring, when Kid Omega brings out Kyu Ketsuki who is making his APW return to join his partner in the All Pro Wrangers!

Overall Rating: 39%

Awesome’s Notes: Without Kyu Ketsuki, there wasn’t anything for Kid Omega to do. I like him, I’m a fan of his work, and the All Pro Wrangers together are real fan favorites. By re-uniting them, they both gained in overness.

Billy Blade laughed at the site of the All Pro Wrangers, then introduced his mystery partner… GANGREL came out from the back carrying his goblet with him. Him and Billy each took a drink of the blood, then spit it into the air before the match!

Overall Rating: 48%

Awesome’s Notes: Billy Blade gained overness by bringing in Gangrel as his tag team partner. Unlike before when Gangrel was in APW, I want to keep him around for a while and not just use him on one night special appearances.

All Pro Wrangers Vs. “Lost Boy” Billy Blade & Gangrel

Referee: Kristina McGraw

The Wrangers didn’t get any offense in at all during the match, and it was Gangrel who single handedly destroyed them both. Kyu did hit a 450 Splash on Billy Blade after him and Kid Omega double clotheslined each other down, but Gangrel was quick to jump back in the ring and hit Kyu with the Impaler. When Omega got up, he also was hit with the Impaler and Gangrel pinned him to take the win!

Winners: Billy Blade & Gangrel

*1/4

Overall Rating: 52%

Crowd Reaction: 26%

Match Quality: 78%

Awesome’s Notes: Gangrel and Billy Blade lost a little overness from this squash match, and I hate to ruin Kyu’s return like this, but it was for the best. Besides, who would really believe that the Wrangers could beat Gangrel anyways?

UNIVERSAL TITLE MATCH

”Old School” Oliver John Vs. “The Brazilian Beast” Kafu

Referee: Tom Castor

The APW fans were behind Oliver John, as he was able to keep up with Kafu every step of the way in this match. It seemed like Oliver John had the match in his hands, after he hit Kafu with his piledriver, but Kafu slumped to the outside of the ring. Oliver John was letting Kafu get back into the ring, not noticing the ring bell being covered by him as he sat up on the apron. Oliver grabbed Kafu by the hair, when the referee began to yell at him for doing this, Oliver John elbowed Tom Castor away, which provided the opportunity for Kafu to hit him over the head with the ring bell! Oliver John stumbled backwards and fell to the mat, long enough for Kafu to roll in the ring after him and make the pin. When Oliver John came to, he ran out of the ring and attacked Kafu who was walking back up the ramp. The two continued their brawl to the back.

Winner: Kafu (Retaining Universal Champion)

***

Overall Rating: 61%

Crowd Reaction: 29%

Match Quality: 94%

Awesome’s Notes: This match really stole the show, just like I was hoping it would. Oliver John made one Hell of a debut, I’m glad to have him on the roster.

Overall Event Rating: 51%

Attendance: 794 Fans

…Monday, 30 October 2006…

Buddy Awesome had this to say in reguards to Halloween Hell:

“The show was really good. It was everything I hoped it to be, and GWAR playing to open up the Halloween show was an incredible touch, and they really got the fans fired up. Gangrel in APW is a big deal right now, and the Oliver John/Kafu match was great. Hopefully with this show being the success that I think it was, it will be enough to make APW turn the corner, but, there’s no denying that the company is continuing to grow rapidly! Thanks are in order to the hundreds of fans who were in attendance for making Halloween Hell a great show!”

Backstory: Very good reasoning behind everything. I had my doubts reading the subtitle and even starting it off with the statistics of the company. I was actually pretty surprised with the amount of time and patience you took describing the promotion and the happenings. I'm pretty shakey about hiring all the staff you need all at once though.

News Updates: I'm a big fan of just about all the same people you are so over the course of the next few months I think it would be pretty cool to see some of those faces pop up.

Halloween Hell: I'm not familiar with just about anyone on the card except for a few people here and there. I like the format a lot - it's a nice brief summery and lets you know everything you need to know. The flow of your writing is very nice but i'm not a fan of teal for notes because of the board color (or at least the color I have it set to. I don't know what it looks like to everyone else) if you like it though, it does add individuality to your diary. A side comment though, I thought Gangrel was a commercially owned name by WWE and he used Vampire Warrior on the indies. Maybe not though, like I said before, I know nothing about APW.

I think some more details about your character's personalities or at least demonstrate more personality by making the promos longer. Some patience and some time and this could be quite the popular diary.

AllProWrestling.com presents a first look at the upcoming event, Thanksgiving Thunder:

Cheerleader Melissa Vs. Shelly Martinez

INTERNET TITLE MATCH

Billy Blade Vs. Mr. Prime Time ©

TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

All Pro Wrangers Vs. E.G.O. ©

-----

APW would like to wish a very happy birthday to the following superstars who are celebrating their birthdays this month: Payton, Derek Sanders, and Johnny LaRocca.

APW would also like to recognize the contributions of the following professional wrestlers who are going to be retiring at the end of this month: Bruce Hart, Cien Caras, Invader #1, Nikolia Volkoff, and Finlay. I predict that Finaly’s last match will be against William Regal or Chris Benoit, in what would certainly be an amazing last match for his career.

Gregory Helms and Shannon Moore are nearing the ends of their WWE contracts. It was surprising to most that Moore was not released during the budget cut, considering that he hasn’t been seen on TV at all since that. Gregory Helms will probably re-sign, considering that he is still Cruiserweight Champion and running strong. Shannon Moore is expected to wait his contract out and jump to TNA or work the independent circuit again.

Tony Jones has returned from suspension.

After an impressive ECW on Sci Fi taping, the show has been promoted with a prime time slot.

Sean Pulver was released from APW. The word is that Buddy Awesome was not a fan of his, and didn’t see any real direction for him or his character. Buddy Awesome did agree to let Sean Pulver use the gimmick that he was best known for in his final match with the company. APW wishes Sean Pulver the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.

Buddy Awesome is very excited about bringing Shelly Martinez in to APW.

APW managed to turn the corner and make a profit last month, this is good news, and a sign of things to come!

-----

(Out Of Character: Thank you to Inner D Monz for the feedback, it is much appreciated. I'll change the color for the notes in the upcoming event, and what I have planned for it should be a lot of fun. I'm trying to keep an indy feel and not a big time feel just yet. Once I can get the company to get to around National, or get a TV deal, I'll put a lot more into the matches. But, right now I just feel that if you check out indy results on their website you just see the recapped form, which is what I'm going for. As for trademarked names, like Gangrel, I was told and made to believe that APW has a working agreement with WWE, and they're allowed to use names of characters and whatnot. A few months back they had The James Gang and advertised them as the New Age Outlaws, and Gangrel is always called Gangrel when he wrestles in the company. Just this Saturday 2 days ago, they used Doink The Clown. I'll be expanding my characters throughout, as well. Another thing to note is that I will mention news that happens in the top companies, when a company is National or Global. Right now there's just TNA at National and WWE at Global. So we'll see how that works out in the future. Also, if anybody would like to see pictures of any workers they may not know, just ask me and I'd be more than happy to post some up here! Thanks again, and enjoy! Keep up the good work in your diary as well, it's always a blast to read!)

This diary looks promising; it's the sort of diary idea I would do if I had the time to stick with a diary.

Don't feel like there's any reason you can't bring in a few OVW type guys to work against your roster, just don't immediately make them your champions.

As far as the Gangrel thing goes, the name is not and has never been owned by the WWE; it's owned by White Wolf Entertainment, and the WWE uses the brand only after paying for it, the same way they had to pay Marvel Comics for use of the Hulk in Hulk Hogan (also why Rhyno spelled his name with a y in WWE). That said, if APW has a relationship with the WWE, there isn't any problem with him using the name.

…Tuesday, 14 November 2006…

WWE made a few new hires today: Johnny Smith, AJ Styles, Dan Severn, and Chris Jericho.

I predict that Johnny Smith is being brought in to play a character that will be mentored by William Regal. WWE has been after AJ Styles for a while, and it seems that he’s finally agreed to a contract with them. I predict that he will be used to feud with Gregory Helms for the Cruiserweight Title. I think Dan Severn was brought in to counter TNA using more MMA style workers lately. As for Chris Jericho, this is a big signing for WWE, as Jericho is a great talent and a big star already. Jericho has been in talks with both WWE and TNA lately, but agreed to return to the WWE.

To counter WWE stealing AJ Styles from the company, NWA:TNA has signed Brock Lesnar to a written contract. This is a very big hire for TNA, and WWE was also trying to get Brock to return to the company. After no agreement could be made, Lesnar signed to the competition. Brock Lesnar could be a major force within TNA, as it is set to go Global in the very near future. It should be noted that Lesnar is one of the very few workers who TNA has on exclusive contracts. The others include: Christian Cage, Christy Hemme, Kurt Angle, and Sting. I predict that TNA will re-create Lesnar’s feud with Angle, which will draw good matches and ratings.

TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

All Pro Wrangers Vs. E.G.O © w/ Johnny LaRocca

Referee: Tom Castor

The Wrangers once again get squashed, not getting much offense in at all. Kyu Ketsuki did land one high spot by hitting the members of E.G.O. with a flipping senton out of the ring. Johnny LaRocca tried to distract Kid Omega in the ring, as Nathan Rulez and A.J. Kirsch both got back into the ring after dropping Kyu with a double powerbomb on the outside. Omega hit LaRocca with a forearm, sending him off the ring apron, but when he turned around, Nathan Rulez was there to pick him up on his shoulders, Kirsch climbed to the top rope, and they leveled him with the E.G.O. Trip. Nathan Rulez made the pin fall!

Winners: E.G.O. (Retaining Tag Team Champions)

*1/4

Overall Rating: 45%

Crowd Reaction: 21%

Match Quality: 79%

Awesome’s Notes: Another big win for E.G.O., keeping them as impressive as ever. The Tag Team Titles gained in image. I almost feel bad for having Kyu job out two shows in a row now, but at least the fans still love seeing the Wrangers together again!

After the match, Johnny LaRocca got on the microphone to hype up E.G.O. even more. “Can this team even be defeated?” He asked, as the fans booed. “The tag team division better pick up here, and I mean quick, because there’s almost nothing left for us to prove! There’s two more teams in APW who we have not beaten in a fair tag match, and over the next two shows, we will do that! So whether it’s The Mafia or Ground And Pound, E.G.O. will take on all comers at Kristmas Kaos!” As they left the ring, the fans booed them, but they paid almost no attention, A.J. Kirsch kept looking at himself through his mirror, to make sure he didn’t get a bruise during the match.

Overall Rating: 46%

Awesome’s Notes: LaRocca again brings the promo goodness, and he continues to get the fans to hate him and his boys every time he goes out there. All three of them gained overness from this promo.

Cheerleader Melissa Vs. Shelly Martinez

Referee: Kristina McGraw

Melissa took the offense route right from the start, and nearly put Shelly away several times in the opening minutes. Shelly fought back with some weak offense, but nothing that could have kept Melissa down for long. Cheerleader Melissa whipped Shelly Martinez into the corner and hit her running forearm, and was apparently setting her up for the Single Minor. As Melissa taunted Shelly to get back to her feet, the lights in the pavilion went out. The fans buzzed for a moment, and when they turned back on, referee Kristina McGraw was unconscious in the middle of the ring, and KEVIN THORN stood behind Cheerleader Melissa with a steel chair in hand. The fans popped, as Melissa backed up into Kevin Thorn, and turned around to face him, only to be leveled over the head with a vicious chair shot! Shelly Martinez got to her feet, and looked up to see Kevin Thorn, as they grinned at each other, and Thorn stepped back out of the ring. When the referee came to, Shelly Martinez picked Melissa up and hit her with the Shelly Shock, followed by an easy pin fall victory! After the match, Kevin Thorn picked Melissa back up and tied her arms in the ropes, while Shelly slapped and taunted her. Security rushed the ring to prevent any further attack!

Winner: Shelly Martinez

-*

Overall Rating: 39%

Crowd Reaction: 47%

Match Quality: 40%

Awesome’s Notes: Well, the match itself sucked. The fans were excited about seeing Shelly Martinez, or maybe it was just her skimpy attire matched with the vampire gimmick? Kevin Thorn debuting by the cliché lights going out entrance was what really got the fans excited.

Gabe Ramirez came down to the ring after the carnage that just took place. “That was despicable! Those freaks will be dealt with in a timely manner, but right now I have confirmation about a big match for Kristmas Kaos! E.G.O. thinks they can take on any team they want? Dana Lee and Tito Aquino haven’t had a two on two title shot yet, so at Kristmas Kaos, we will see them get their first title opportunity against E.G.O.!” Gabe left by hyping the fans up with a “GYM WARZ!” chant!

Overall Rating: 44%

Awesome’s Notes: That whole “GYM WARZ” chant kind of irritates me, considering that this wasn’t even a Gym Warz event. This was a good way for Gabe to make a match for the next show, without having him take away from the hype of Kevin Thorn’s debut. He even gained a little overness from this promo.

INTERNET TITLE MATCH

“Lost Boy” Billy Blade Vs. Mr. Prime Time ©

Referee: Tom Castor

High flying action filled this match from start to finish. In the end, MPT hit Billy with a spinning heel kick, which set him up for his Frog Splash and the win. While MPT was celebrating, KADEN made his APW return by sneaking up behind him and dropping him with a DDT when he turned around. Kaden picked Billy up, as they made their way to the back together, the fans booing.

Winner: Mr. Prime Time (Retaining Internet Champion)

*3/4

Overall Rating: 49%

Crowd Reaction: 28%

Match Quality: 82%

Awesome’s Notes: The fans seemed really surprised by seeing Kaden return to APW, and apparently re-form Immortal Fear with Billy Blade. The tag team division continues to grow, and an awesome tag team is reunited. It should be noted that Immortal Fear had a nasty on-screen fallout, ending in a violent Immortal Street Fight! It’s been over a year since then, and now Kaden’s back in APW.

Gangrel hit the ring, and without saying anything, got into his corner and looked towards the entrance to see if anybody would accept his challenge. After a minute, Gangrel was about to leave the ring, when “Heart’s On Fire” began to play, and Gangrel looked surprised. Derek Sanders burst out from the back to a big pop from the crowd, and slid into the ring, accepting the challenge of Gangrel and playing up to the crowd.

Overall Rating: 45%

Awesome’s Notes: Derek Sanders picked up a lot of overness from this babyface turn. The fans were still behind him for answering this challenge, definitely a big boost for him.

”Heart Of Fire” Derek Sanders Vs. Gangrel

Referee: Kristina McGraw

The fans were really behind Derek Sanders, who was in the ring without Payton tonight. Sanders took it to Gangrel, and put up a valiant effort. But, in the end, Gangrel hit him with the Impaler to pick up the win. After the match, Gangrel continued his assault on Sanders by stomping away at him, before picking him up and throwing him out of the ring!

Winner: Gangrel

*

Overall Rating: 51%

Crowd Reaction: 42%

Match Quality: 72%

Awesome’s Notes: Sanders was once a top guy in APW, and I’d love to get him back up there. Being heel just wasn’t his thing, and I’ve wanted to see him baby face again for a while, and he gained quite a bit of overness from this turn. I left Payton out of this because I’m still not sure what to do with her yet.

As soon as Gangrel throws Derek Sanders out of the ring, Kevin Thorn and Shelly Martinez come out again from the back and join Gangrel in the ring. Next comes Billy Blade and Kaden to the ring, Immortal Fear. The five vampires look at each other for a second, before taking turns shaking hands with one another. Shelly Martinez is first on the microphone, and she tells us that the future of APW seems darker now that The Vampires have emerged. Kevin Thorn is next on the microphone. “The blood of APW… Will be drained by Kevin Thorn!” Billy Blade uses the microphone to say that Immortal Fear is back, then hands it to Kaden. “Kaden TRASK has returned to APW, because Billy Blade needed my help, and that is what I will do. We’ve had our falling out, but blood is thick, and Immortal Fear will rise within APW once again!” Gangrel took the microphone, with a sick smile on his face. “What you see before you tonight, is the dawning of a new era in All Pro Wrestling. The era of THE VAMPIRES! We will end 2006 on top of this company, and nobody can stop us! I propose to APW, for Kristmas Kaos, find your four best. Any four, we don’t care who they will be. Pit them against us next month, and we shall call this little match… WAR GAMES! Blood will be spilled, and once the sweet taste of that blood consumes us, we will be unstoppable! So bring whoever you can, because we are here to stay!” The five vampires leave the ring to an insane amount of boos from the crowd!

Overall Rating: 56%

Awesome’s Notes: Kevin Thorn gained overness from this promo. A big challenge by The Vampires is one Hell of a way to end 2006 next month. I like the name for that stable, too. The Vampires. It’s simple, and it gets the point across. Also, I had to give Kaden a last name. Billy Blade and Kaden as a team doesn’t sound as menacing as Billy Blade and Kaden Trask does.

MAIN EVENT

”Old School” Oliver John, “The Shooter” Tony Jones & “Mr. APW” J.J. Perez Vs. “The Brazilian Beast” Kafu & The Mafia

Referee: Tom Castor

Oliver John and Kafu started this one off, and they began their wild brawling right from the start, before making their way outside the ring and brawling all over the pavilion. Tony Jones and Vennis DeMarco took their places in the ring, and the action stayed hot. After a lot of back and forth offense from Perez & Jones and The Mafia, Oliver John on the outside of the ring dropped Kafu by sending him crashing into the outside ring post. Oliver John came back in the ring to wipe out The Mafia single handedly and hit Chris Colione with the piledriver. Kafu tried getting back in the ring, as J.J. jumped outside of the ring towards Kafu, who caught him in mid air! Before Kafu could do anything, though, Tony Jones hit him with a baseball slide, which took him back off his feet, allowing Oliver John to pin Chris Colione!

Winners: Oliver John, Tony Jones & J.J. Perez

*1/4

Overall Rating: 47%

Crowd Reaction: 31%

Match Quality: 76%

Awesome’s Notes: A solid match, nothing special, especially when compared to the Oliver John/Kafu match from Halloween Hell. When Kafu caught J.J. in mid dive really impressed me. Oliver John is also really good. This should build up to another match between the two for next month!

Overall Event Rating: 47%

Attendance: 863 Fans

…Monday, 27 November 2006…

Buddy Awesome had this to say in reguards to Halloween Hell:

”Overall I would say that this was a good show, but in comparison to Halloween Hell, it was a step down. The hype for the War Games match is good so far, and hopefully it will be able to deliver what is expected of such a high profile match. In a way, the Oliver John and Kafu feud is kind of being over shadowed by The Vampires, but the match quality of those two still shines bright enough. Bringing back Immortal Fear is a big deal because it’s another tag team re-formed, which makes the tag scene even stronger! The attendance was up, though, so that shows that APW is continuing to grow!”

Out Of Character: Thanks SM Punk for predictions... 3-2! Any feedback on the show is always cool :)

Torrie Wilson is nearing the end of her WWE contract. It’s highly expected that she will sign a new contract with the company and continue working for them.

WWE has signed Psicosis to a written contract. I predict that he will be used either to re-form The Mexicools with Super Crazy, or just be another addition to the Cruiserweight division.

…Wednesday, 13 December 2006…

Two independent wrestlers have sparked my interest, Greg Pawluk and John Walters. Both men are very technically sound, and I wouldn’t mind using them in a program somewhere down the line. Greg Pawluk currently works with Stampede Wrestling, and John Walters works with Chaotic Wrestling.

During last nights episode of Impact, TNA declared that they are going Global! With this announcement; Rhino, Kip James, Brother Runt, Raven, Jerry Lynn, Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, Shane Douglas, BG James, Konnan, Simon Diamond, Norman Smiley, Christopher Daniels, Chris Harris, Ron Killings, Elix Skipper, Homicide, Frankie Kazarian, The Amazing Red, Samoa Joe, James Mitchell, Jackie Gayda, James Storm, Chris Sabin, Abyss, Tito Ortiz, Petey Williams, Hernandez, and Jim Cornette have all agreed to exclusive written contracts with NWA:TNA!

TNA has also signed Balls Mahoney and Bill Goldberg to written contracts. I predict that Bill Goldberg won’t debut until next month, setting up a feud between him and Jeff Jarrett, or bring back the feud with Brock Lesnar. Balls Mahoney I think will debut at next weeks Impact, probably attacking Raven, Rhino, Shane Douglas, or Brother Runt, in an attempt to do something ECW related.

World Wrestling Entertainment has released a warning to All Pro Wrestling about the usage of the name and character of Kevin Thorn. From this moment on, the character will be known by his real name, KEVIN FERTIG.

TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH

All Pro Wrangers Vs. The Mafia

Referee: Tom Castor

The match started off good from the opening bell, with the clash of styles from the All Pro Wrangers and The Mafia. The Mafia kept the Wrangers down on the mat when they could, but that didn’t stop the Wrangers from taking to the air whenever they could! In the end, Vennis DeMarco rolled Kid Omega up with a school boy, and used the tights for the leverage to get the 1…2…3. The fans booed as they celebrated their victory in the ring!

Winners: The Mafia

*3/4

Overall Rating: 53%

Crowd Reaction: 23%

Match Quality: 83%

Awesome’s Notes: Although the Wrangers continue to lose, at least they were allowed to display their talents tonight. The Mafia Vs. E.G.O. should be fun, it will be interesting to see if the fans get into it or not. A two heel program could be good, interesting all the same.

The Mafia stay in the ring after their match, and they were handed a microphone. Vennis DeMarco does the talking while Chris Colione nods in agreement. “When we came back to APW almost one year ago, we were never given our title shot, at the belts we never lost! Finally The Mafia has earned a shot, and we’re going to put those belts back around our wastes! Johnny LaRocca, you turned your back on us as soon as the next hot team came along, and you’re going to pay at Ground Zero. You’re going to realize why you never should have left The Mafia’s side!” The fans boo The Mafia as they make their way to the back, one fan is even seen throwing a Quiznos wrapper which hits Vennis in the side of the face, which upsets him. They leave to a “QUIZNOS” chant from the fans!

Overall Rating: 53%

Awesome’s Notes: Really good promo from Vennis DeMarco, bringing in the heat like always. I feel bad for Vennis, but I’m glad that the cameras caught him getting hit with the Quiznos wrapper, and that the fans chanted “QUIZNOS” at them, something I haven’t heard them do against The Mafia in a while. The Mafia both gained overness.

TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

Ground And Pound Vs. E.G.O. © w/ Johnny LaRocca

Referee: Kristina McGraw

Tito Aquino and Dana Lee pulled out all the stops in this match, and were able to get several near falls on A.J. Kirsch. As soon as Kirsch made the tag to Nathan Rulez, he came in and cleaned house against both members of Ground And Pound. Rulez tagged back out to Kirsch, and Johnny LaRocca jumped up onto the ring apron to distract Dana Lee. When Dana turned around, Kirsch was waiting for him, and planted him with a big DDT followed by the 1…2…3!

Winners: E.G.O. (Retaining Tag Team Champions)

*

Overall Rating: 51%

Crowd Reaction: 27%

Match Quality: 75%

Awesome’s Notes: The Tag Titles gained image, but I don’t like the way this match worked out. It seemed more like E.G.O. were playing the faces, with Rulez getting the “hot tag” and clearing the ring. They kept their belts, big surprise. This officially sets up for them to face The Mafia. Hopefully that will work out better than this did.

Johnny LaRocca and his E.G.O. stayed in the ring after the match, and LaRocca had a microphone in his hand, as he began to do a promo. “So finally E.G.O. will have to defend the belts against The Mafia. You know something, I’ve been waiting a long time for this! Yeah, Vennis is right, I did leave the side of The Mafia when the time was right. E.G.O. is the hottest team today, why wouldn’t I have jumped ship? You guys think you can beat the Excellent, the Gorgeous, and the Outrageous ones? We’ll just have to wait and see! 2006 was the year of E.G.O., and 2007 will continue to be the same!” E.G.O. head to the back with a chorus of boos, but there are a few fans that can be heard cheering for them!

Overall Rating: 52%

Awesome’s Notes: LaRocca and Rulez gained overness from this promo. Once again LaRocca gets the heat going for his team heading into the new year. I was surprised that a few fans actually cheered for them, but they’re going to pick one team to favor in a program with two heels. Hopefully this will work, I’m really excited about doing this match with The Mafia.

When E.G.O. are making their way out, Shelly Martinez steps out from behind the curtain and heads to the ring. The fans give a mixed, but mostly booed reaction to her, as she slides into the ring. Shelly picks up the microphone in the ring, and begins to talk. “At Thanksgiving Thunder, everybody saw me destroy your favorite Cheerleader, sweet Melissa. I took great pride in watching her being taken out of the ring courtesy Kevin Fertig and I. I know Melissa’s not here to come out and get her revenge, but I am issuing an open challenge right now to any bitch that thinks they can avenge her and try to stop this vampire!” The crowd chant for “MELISSA,” but nobody comes out for a few moments. Then, “Heart’s On Fire” begins to play, and the fans cheer immediately. Payton storms out from the back and gets in the ring, right in Shelly’s face, and grabs the microphone from her. “Listen here! I’m not taking this match to avenge Melissa, I’m taking this match to shut you up, you freak!” With that, Payton hits Shelly with a sloppy forearm to the face, and shortly after, referee Tom Castor runs down and slides in the ring and sounds the bell as Payton and Shelly catfight around the ring!

Overall Rating: 61%

Awesome’s Notes: There’s nothing better than a good impromptu match that involves a turn. Shelly Martinez is pretty good on the microphone, really fitting her character. Payton is plain and simple, but she gets the point across and does her job. Both women gained overness from this segment.

Payton Vs. Shelly Martinez

Referee: Tom Castor

The two women spent the majority of the match cat fighting. Payton hit a lot of sloppy offense right away to start the match, but Shelly came back and put a hurting on Payton. Shelly hit Payton with the Shelly Shock for the win after a short bout!

Winner: Shelly Martinez

-***

Overall Rating: 37%

Crowd Reaction: 43%

Match Quality: 25%

Awesome’s Notes: The crowd was more into this match than any other on the show thus far. It’s just too bad that the women couldn’t put on a match in the ring to equal out what the fans were cheering. The guys seemed more into the T and A aspect of this match than anything else, can you blame them?

UNIVERSAL TITLE HARDCORE MATCH

“Old School” Oliver John Vs. “The Brazilian Beast” Kafu ©

Referee: Kristina McGraw

When Kafu was making his entrance, he immediately began to roam through the crowd, intimidating the fans and throwing their seats everywhere. Oliver John ran up behind him and hit him with a steel chair, and the fight was on! The two men battled through the crowd, and made their way to the stairs and headed to the upper balcony of the pavilion! The brawl ensued as Kafu choke slammed Oliver down hard on the stairs! Kafu picked Oliver up and threw him back down into a few chairs. Kafu taunted Oliver John as he was getting up, and picked up a chair, taunting him. When Oliver John got back to his feet, Kafu lifted the chair up to swing it, but Oliver charged him and hit him with a big time spear, as the two men tumbled down the stairs and back to the main floor as the fans start up a “HOLY SHIT” chant! After a few moments, they both get to their feet, but after a stiff kick to the midsection, Kafu takes Oliver John down and locks him in the Brazilian Crucifix! Oliver John refuses to tap out, but after over a minute being locked in the hold, he passes out from the pain! Kristina McGraw has no choice but to stop the match and award the victory to Kafu!

Winner: Kafu (Retaining Universal Champion)

***3/4

Overall Rating: 70%

Crowd Reaction: 41%

Match Quality: 99%

Awesome’s Notes: This is as good as it’s going to get tonight. Yeah, the fans will probably be more into the War Games match just because of what it is, but these two guys really know how to tell a story even in a hardcore match! The Universal Title gained image from being fought so hard over, that spot with the stairs just stole the show in my opinion!

After the intermission, Team APW, Tony Jones, Mr. Prime Time, Derek Sanders and J.J. Perez make their way down to the ring, behind them comes none other than the APW Commissioner himself, Gabe Ramirez. They get inside the steel cage set up around the ring, as Gabe takes a microphone and begins to hype up the fans. “GYM WARZ!” The fans cheer him on. “Tonight, tonight is the last APW show of 2006. And what a year it’s been! We’ve seen a lot this year. We’ve seen everything from The Sandman, Steve Corino, Rey Mysterio Senior, BG and Kip James, Ron Killings, but tonight, we see The Vampires. These Vampires think that they are going to be superior over All Pro Wrestling’s finest to close out the year? I don’t think so! I have hand selected the four best men I could to defend APW’s honor, and we will come out on top! “The Shooter” Tony Jones, The Internet Champion Mr. Prime Time, “The Heart of Fire” Derek Sanders, and “Mr. APW” himself J.J. Perez. What do they have? Gangrel? Kevin Fertig? Immortal Fear? Yeah, they’re good. I’m not going to deny that. But, we have something that they do not, and that is the support of you loyal fans! So then, let’s get this thing started, and let’s give our boys the support they need in this WAR!” The fans cheer for Team APW as the team members get out of the cage, except for Derek Sanders who is going to start the match for the team. MPT puts his bandana on a kids head sitting in the front row!

Overall Rating: 54%

Awesome’s Notes: Gabe and MPT gained overness from the promo, and by handing the kid the bandana. Gabe did a good job promoting his team, even if he did start it off with that GYM WARZ yell.

WAR GAMES MATCH

Team APW Vs. The Vampires

Referees: Tom Castor and Kristina McGraw

As Derek Sanders waits in the ring, Kaden Trask comes out from the back, runs in the cage and the two begin to brawl. After a while, Sanders gets the obvious advantage and puts Kaden down time and time again. The five minute buzzer hits, it’s time for the next entrant. Tom Castor asks Gabe Ramirez which side of the coin they’d take since The Vampires aren’t at ringside to make a decision. He calls heads, and the coin is flipped. It drops on tails. Kristina McGraw points to the back, calling for another Vampire, and out runs Kevin Fertig! Sanders gets the advantage on Fertig when he climbs into the ring, but when he whips him to the ropes, Fertig comes back with a huge lariat that turned Sanders inside out! Fertig begins to choke the life out of Derek, when the buzzer sounds, and Tony Jones quickly opens the cage door and goes after Fertig. He grabs Fertig from behind and slams him down with a German Suplex. Kaden gets in Tony’s face and they begin exchanging blows, but Jones gets the advantage and drops him down with a belly to belly suplex! By this time Sanders is starting to come back, when the buzzer sounds again, and Billy Blade slowly makes his way to the cage. He sees Tony Jones and Derek Sanders taunting him to get in, and stops at the door, and holds it closed. The timer starts to tick for another entrant to come in, as Kaden Trask sneaks up behind Sanders and Jones, and low blows them both causing them to crumple to the ground! Billy Blade jumps into the cage right as the buzzer sounds, and pulls the cage door closed again, not letting Mr. Prime Time get into the ring. As Billy and MPT both pull at the cage door, Kaden takes his turn stomping at Sanders and Jones, Fertig gets in on the attack as well. J.J. Perez whispers something to MPT, and he nods, and J.J. begins to climb up the cage! When J.J. gets to the top, Billy backs off the door, and J.J. jumps off taking out Immortal Fear and Kevin Fertig, all three with a flying cross body block from the top of the cage! The fans chant “HOLY SHIT” again, as everybody in the ring lays unconscious. The buzzer sounds, and the lights go off. Gangrels music plays, and flames appear at the top of the entry way. Gangrel slowly walks to the ring, where MPT has no choice but to let him get in the ring. The lights go back to normal, as Gangrel destroys Team APW, picking up each member off the ground one by one and dropping them back down with Impalers! Gangrel lets his fellow Vampires get back to their feet, as the buzzer sounds, and it’s time for Mr. Prime Time, the final entrant to join the War Games! Gangrel and The Vampires laugh as MPT looks scared about getting into the ring, but he jumps in and swings wildly trying to hit whatever he can, getting a few hits on all of The Vampires, but the numbers game do get to him quickly. After a beat down on MPT, Sanders and J.J. and Tony Jones get back up and begin a brawl with every man in the cage battling it out! The end comes when Kevin Fertig drops Tony Jones with a devastating Crucifix Powerbomb, knocking him unconscious. Before the referees can stop the match, Fertig picks him up again, and slams him down again hard with another Crucifix Powerbomb! The referees quickly call for the bell to end the match, Tony Jones has been knocked out!

Awesome’s Notes: This match was just an incredible sight, and a huge first for APW. The fans started to seem a bit tired by the end of it, but these guys, especially Kaden Trask and Derek Sanders proved they could go the distance, competing in this grueling match for over 30 minutes! The Vampires beating the best APW had to offer solidified them as a force to be reckoned with, and they just keep picking up momentum.

In the aftermath of Kristmas Kaos, Buddy Awesome had this to say:

”The attendance was down quite a bit, even with the huge War Games main event, but the show, in my opinion was really good. Those who went to Thanksgiving Thunder but skipped out on Kristmas Kaos missed out. E.G.O. still remain dominant in the tag team ranks, and now we work into a Heel Vs. Heel program against The Mafia. That should be good, and I can only imagine that the chemistry between LaRocca and The Mafia will be in effect somehow. The impromptu Payton/Shelly match got the fans really pumped up, even though the actual in ring work was no good. Oliver John and Kafu was the match of the night, and I’m not a fan of hardcore or extreme wrestling. But, those two really knew how to tell a story by their match, which is hard to do, and that spot going down the stairs was an awesome touch at the end. The War Games match had a lot of hype around it, and it delivered on everything, except maybe it was a bit predictable. The J.J. cross body off the top of the cage was great, and Gangrel dominating was a great way to keep him on top. Fertig going over APWs team captain was a sign that he might be ready to make the next big step soon.

I received word yesterday that Shelly Martinez has found religion, and is a new person. I can’t really picture Shelly going to church, but finding religion is great for anybody, I think! Luckily for us, she has agreed to continue working her current gimmick, because that’s what she’s best known for.

I was really disappointed today, though, when I found out that Cheerleader Melissa has checked herself into rehab to deal with a cocaine addiction. I wish Melissa the best of luck, and certainly hope that she can fight and defeat her demons.

APW would like to wish a very happy birthday to the following superstars who are celebrating their birthdays this month: Kevin Fertig, Kid Omega & Nathan Rulez.

APW would like to recognize the contributions of the following professional wrestlers who are going to be retiring at the end of this month: Violencia, Flesh Gordon, Reverend Slick, & Kobra Kai.

NWA: TNA have a new television show on Friday nights with a graveyard shift on the Sci Fi network. It remains to be seen if this deal is going to affect WWE’s deal with the Sci Fi network in any way. More news on this as it comes.

APW lost a large amount of money last month, and management is not happy with that. The hopes are that the company will turn the corner back around immediately!

However, as APW continues to stay alive, a few companies were not so lucky. East Coast Wrestling Association, Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, International Wrestling Syndicate, & Chaotic Wrestling have all went bankrupt.

With ECWA going bankrupt, APW has purchased the rights to their annual Super 8 Tournament. APW will be hosting its first Super 8 on Saturday, 24 February 2007.

Kafu retained his title against Oliver John at Kristmas Kaos, but to start the year off, he must defend against the up and coming Scotty Aboot! In the War Games match, Kevin Fertig brought victory to his team by knocking Tony Jones unconscious! MPT who was also a member of Team APW must put his Internet Title on the line against the man who defeated his team. Can MPT retain his belt, or has he finally met his match?

Oliver John Vs. Tony Jones

Both of these men came out on the losing end in their Kristmas Kaos matches, but at Ground Zero they lock up in what should be a prideful one on one bout. groundzero-1.jpg

Announcers: Jermz & Mark Nulty

After the National Anthem finishes playing, the fans get up to cheer again as Scotty Aboot steps out from the back and stops at the stage. Holding up a microphone, his music stops playing, and he begins to do a promo… “TONIGHT… Tonight is a big night for me. I have my first ever Universal Title shot, and I have to go through Kafu if I want that belt. So, I may not be as big as he is, and I know that it doesn’t seem like I have any chance of winning tonight, but I can promise you this, if Kafu thinks he’s just going to get a warm up match, something to keep him tuned up since he won’t be in the Super 8 tournament next month, he’s got another thing coming!” The fans cheer. “I may not be the biggest guy in APW, but I won’t back down from anybody! I’m not going to just let you whipe the mat with me, Kafu, if you want a win, you’re going to have to fight for it! By the end of the night, win or lose, you will be asking yourself, ‘What’s that all Aboot?’” The fans cheer as Scotty Aboot heads backstage again.

Rating: 36%

Awesome’s Notes: Scotty Aboot gained some overness from the microphone time he received. The whole “What’s that all Aboot?” line didn’t help him at all, though. I wonder if people actually believe that he might have a chance against Kafu.

TAG TEAM TITLE #1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH

Immortal Fear Vs. Derek Sanders & J.J. Perez

Referee: Tom Castor

The opening bout delivered some hot action, as Sanders & Perez kept Immortal Fear grounded for the majority of the match. Kaden and Billy did get some offense in, but not much, as J.J. and Derek seemed poised to overcome two of The Vampires. Derek grabbed Billy and held him for J.J. to attack, but when J.J. came rushing for his clothesline, Billy broke free and J.J. clotheslined his own partner out of the ring! This allowed Billy to grab J.J. from behind and plant him down with the Nosferatu Driver to pick up the win! Immortal Fear stay in the ring to celebrate their win, as Shelly Martinez slides inside as well. As J.J. Perez is heading towards the back, Derek Sanders runs up to him, and the two argue the whole way to the back.

Winners: Immortal Fear

Overall Rating: 59%

Crowd Reaction: 30%

Match Quality: 88%

Awesome’s Notes: The match itself was really good, a lot better than I expected it to be. Kaden Trask and Billy Blade should seem more legit after such a high profile win. And by Derek getting upset with J.J. leads to a possible heel return.

Shelly Martinez has a microphone as she begins to talk… “Immortal Fear just defeated two of APW’s finest, to no surprise. They now become the number one contenders for the Tag Team Titles, and in two months time at the Garage Rumble event, the world will see the second coming of Immortal Fear as champions. The boys of E.G.O. are next in line, and the blood will flow come the Garage Rumble event in just two months time. The APW Tag Team Championship belts are in the future of Immortal Fear, as The Vampires continue the take over of APW! All Pro Wrestling will bow to our supremacy, and just like tonight, we will prevail and continue to be victorious!” The trio of Vampires leave the ring and make their way backstage as the crowd boos them.

Overall Rating: 77%

Awesome’s Notes: Shelly Martinez has a great way to word things that just makes her scary, I just love her character. Her and Billy Blade gained some overness from this promo, I like how Billy was mocking with the crowd while Shelly spoke, Kaden just kind of sat in the background. I like the direction that Immortal Fear is going, and it will become more and more evident in the upcoming months.

Oliver John Vs. Tony Jones

Referee: Kristina McGraw

These two men came out and gave it everything they had from bell to bell. Both men traded holds, and went on to exchance suplexes and then back to trading holds on the mat again. Oliver John set up Tony Jones for the Piledriver, but Jones reversed it by sweeping out the legs from underneath him and locking in a Sharpshooter! Oliver John refused to tap out, and after 2 minutes of not tapping out, Tony Jones finally broke the hold. When Oliver John got back up, he caught Tony Jones with a vicious overhead belly to belly suplex, and locked in a Sharpshooter of his own! Tony Jones refused to give up, and the bell was sounded to the confusion of the crowd. The match was declared a time limit draw, and after the match the two combatants shook hands as the fans cheered them on.

Winner: DRAW

Overall Rating: 60%

Crowd Reaction: 36%

Match Quality: 84%

Awesome’s Notes: There should be more broadway matches in wrestling these days, and I was really glad to be able to do it here with two great technical wrestlers.

INTERNET TITLE MATCH

Kevin Fertig Vs. Mr. Prime Time ©

Referee: Tom Castor

This match saw some back and forward action, but Kevin Fertig took control from the early going by over powering MPT and keeping him grounded by hitting some powerful moves. Fertig kept MPT down by using a lot of illegal choke holds throughout the match, while Shelly Martinez lurked ominously at ringside. When MPT started to re-gain some momentum, he took Fertig down with a hurricanrana that sent him rolling to the outside of the ring. Shelly jumped to the ring apron to distract MPT long enough for Fertig to get back in the ring. Fertig rushed MPT, who dodged at the last minute which caused Fertig to crash into Shelly and send her flying into a lucky fan at ringside who didn’t seem too unhappy about this. Kevin Fertig looked down at Shelly, allowing MPT the opportunity to roll him up in a school boy and get the 1…2…3 to retain his title. Before MPT could run out of the ring, though, Fertig grabbed him by his boot and pulled him back in the ring and layed him out with a vicious Crucifix Powerbomb. Shelly Martinez got back into the ring and watched Fertig choke MPT out until he was lying in the ring unconscious. Kevin and Shelly left the ring to a strong amount of boos from the crowd.

Winner: Mr. Prime Time (Retaining Internet Champion)

Overall Rating: 61%

Crowd Reaction: 47%

Match Quality: 75%

Awesome’s Notes: The fans were really into this one, and it was a good match to make Fertig seem like a beast while MPT stayed strong by not staying down and eventually retaining the title. The Internet Title gained image from this match.

A video is played hyping up Kafu. It shows all of his most impressive victories against the likes of The Sandman, Derek Sanders, Dana Lee, and Oliver John. The words “Aboot Meets” appear on the screen, then underneath them emerges a huge logo saying “The Brazilian Beast!”

Overall Rating: 46%

Awesome’s Notes: There’s nothing like a good old fashioned hype video to make a worker seem unstoppable coming into a World Title defense.

UNIVERSAL TITLE MATCH

Scotty Aboot Vs. Kafu ©

Referee: Kristina McGraw

Scotty Aboot put up a valiant fight right from the opening bell, but nothing was to much effect against Kafu. Kafu retaliated with a huge clothesline taking Aboot right down. Kafu toys with Aboot for a few minutes, before locking in the Brazilian Crucifix that makes Scotty tap out almost instantly. After the match, Kafu stomps at Aboot a few times, then picks him up and tosses him out of the ring hard!

Winner: “The Brazilian Beast” Kafu (Retaining Universal Champion)

Overall Rating: 56%

Crowd Reaction: 37%

Match Quality: 75%

Awesome’s Notes: The crowd was more into this than I thought they would be, and they really were behind Aboot here. Unfortunately this match wasn’t really anything more than a glorified squash match.

It’s time for the main event, and The Mafia come down to the ring to a strong chorus of boos. E.G.O. and Johnny LaRocca come to the ring next to another strong chorus of boos. Johnny LaRocca gets on the microphone to introduce “Excellent” A.J. Kirsch and “Outrageous” Nathan Rulez, and himself “Gorgeous” Johnny LaRocca. “Chris, Vennis, I left you guys when I did because I realized that the time was right to move on, and you two weren’t the best that APW had to offer any more! My guys now have held the Tag Titles for longer than you ever could have, and the caliber of teams we’ve beaten has proven to be far greater than any team you ever beat! You want to make this match an Italian Street Fight, well that’s fine by us!” Nathan Rulez looks on nodding his head looking intimidating, while Kirsch talks to him a big frightened. LaRocca continues, “So if you want to be the champions again, fine, because you must go through E.G.O. to hold onto these belts again!” pointing to the titles around the waists of Rulez and Kirsch. “As for Immortal Fear, they want a title shot, well that’s just fine too! At the Garage Rumble in two months time, you guys can face the champs whoever they might be, as if you don’t already know who that’ll be! And for the record, it’s about time that we get to be in the damn main event!” With LaRocca saying that, Kirsch and Rulez both throw their title belts down and rush The Mafia, as the bell sounds and LaRocca scurries out of the ring.

Overall Rating: 62%

Awesome’s Notes: What a good way to jump start the main event, you just need a lot of heat to get a heel/heel rivalry to work! LaRocca once again continues his promo goodness, gaining some overness from this. Rulez gained some overness from just standing there and looking like he’s going to kill somebody.

MAIN EVENT

TAG TEAM TITLE ITALIAN STREET FIGHT

The Mafia Vs. E.G.O. © w/ Johnny LaRocca

Referee: Tom Castor

Within minutes of the match starting, referee Tom Castor sent Johnny LaRocca to the back for his constant attempts of helping E.G.O. out. The Mafia had several near falls on the champs, and used everything they could from steel chairs, production wires, and even using their leather jackets simultaneously to choke out Kirsch and Rulez in modified crossface submissions! Vennis De Marco left the ring to slide a table into the ring, which allowed for E.G.O. to get back up and attack Chris Colione with a double con-chair-to that took him out. Vennis slid back into the ring, but was leveled with a big chair shot from A.J. Kirsch, and followed up with a powerbomb from Nathan Rulez. A.J. set up the table in the middle of the ring, as Nathan threw Colione out of the ring with authority! Rulez hoisted Vennis up on his shoulders as A.J. went to the top rope, then jumped off and bulldogged De Marco through the table with their E.G.O. Trip as the fans chanted “That was awesome!” Nathan Rulez pinned Vennis De Marco, and Johnny LaRocca rushed to the ring to celebrate with his men. E.G.O. celebrated their win, holding their titles up high over their heads to end the show!

Overall Rating: 57%

Crowd Reaction: 38%

Match Quality: 77%

Awesome’s Notes: I thought the match was really good, and I loved the spot at the end, but the fans weren’t as into it as I was hoping. I think that by having LaRocca sent to the back really let the fans focus on the match, though. The titles still gained in image from this match.

…Monday, 20 January 2007…

In the aftermath of Ground Zero, Buddy Awesome had this to say:

”Ground Zero altogether was a lot better of a show than Kristmas Kaos was, but the attendance was down once again, even lower than last month. Hopefully the move to Bakersfield next month for the Super 8 will be a good idea, since the venue is smaller.

The next show, Super 8, isn’t taking place just to sell tickets, it is to showcase the lower-tier of APW’s talent roster, and a few outsiders as well. I don’t know how exactly I’m going to pull this show off yet, if I’m going to use talent from ECWA which we bought the rights to use Super 8 from, or if I will use some more well known indy talent. Either way, the show will be focused more on wrestling than anything else. Hell, the Universal Champion: Kafu isn’t even going to be on the card!

I felt bad for hyping Scotty Aboot up just to be squashed, but I highly doubt anybody saw him winning, and it wouldn’t be believable at this point anyways. Fertig and MPT had the house going crazy, even though their match wasn’t the greatest of all time, it was good enough and it just showed that these guys are so over right now, it’s nuts! It’s cool to see Immortal Fear back together again, I hated the way they were split last time around, and that won’t happen this time. The main event was a good match, I didn’t expect a 5 star bout, but I did think the crowd would be a little more into it than they were, but what can you do, right? E.G.O. continue to dominate and get more and more over every time they step into the ring, so there’s that at least.

Out Of Character: If I could get any feedback at all on this latest show, I would be very happy. I know it's been a while since I last posted anything to this diary, but it's not dead! So any show reviews rather good or bad would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

SUPER 8 TOURNAMENT COMPETITORS:

Cheetah Master

Derek Sanders

Freak Nastty

Glen Osbourne

J.J. Perez

Oliver John

Scotty Aboot

Tony Jones

APW would like to wish a very happy birthday to the following superstars who are celebrating their birthdays this month: Vennis De Marco, J.J. Perez, and Shelly Martinez.

APW would like to recognize the contributions of the following professional wrestlers who are going to be retiring at the end of this month: Chavo Guerrero Jr., Haruka Eigen, Rey Mysterio Sr., and Yoshiaka Fujiwara. I predict that for Chavo’s last match, he will be competing in a Triple Threat against Rey Mysterio Jr. and Chris Benoit for the United States Championship.

NWA: Anarchy went bankrupt.

NWA: Pro Wrestling Express has issued a bankruptcy warning.

APW once again lost a large amount of money, and attendance was down quite a bit from last month’s show. The reason Super 8 is taking place at the Bakersfield Dome instead of the Kezar Pavilion is so if not as many people go, or the number continues to decrease again, the venue won’t be so large and the revenue spent won’t be so high. Buddy Awesome is under serious pressure now to start making a profit again, or he might very well get fired from the position he is in with the company.

The Super 8 is billed as APW Vs. ECWA, and three of ECWA’s biggest stars before they went out of business will be competing for this event. Cheetah Master is a member of the ECWA Hall of Fame; Freak Nastty was the last man to hold the ECWA World Championship; and Glen Osbourne was the most dominating force ECWA had when they folded, and was set to face off against Nastty before the company folded. It will be interesting to see how these men compete against APW, but the boys from ECWA are saying that they have a major surprise in store for APW on February 24!

Kaden has found religion and is said to be a changed man.

Awesome's Notes: Finding religion I think is always a great choice for anybody, not just pro wrestlers. I do think it's funny though that in the past few months two of APW's superstars have found religion; both of whom portray Vampires.

Saturday, 10 February 2007

NWA:TNA has signed Justin Credible, Scott Hall and The Rock to written contracts.

Awesome's Notes: It's hard to say what TNA will do with Credible, I would assume just throw him into the whole extreme mix with the likes of Balls Mahoney, Team 3-D, Jerry Lynn, Raven, and Rhino. It's rumored that with those 8 former ECW stars, TNA is going to have a tournament to crown the first ever Xtreme Champion, and merge it with the X Division title to make the X division more of a hardcore title.

The only obvious thing for Scott Hall is that they are going to team him back up with Kevin Nash, seeing as how he just recently broke away from Paparazzi Productions. The Outsiders Vs. Austin Starr & Alex Shelley, talk about a cluster fuck.

As for The Rock signing with TNA, that's huge! There's a lot of opportunities for big money matches with him: Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Sting, and even Christian Cage or Jeff Jarrett. The most likely right now is a feud with Jarrett, but anything is a possible. It is rumored that The Rock is really interested in working with Sting, that would be insane! Can you say DREAM MATCH?

AllProWrestling.com presents the final card for the upcoming event, Super 8:

SUPER 8 TOURNAMENT ROUND 1:

Cheetah Master Vs. Freak Nastty

The opening bout pits ECWA Hall of Famer: Cheetah Master against the last holder of the ECWA World Title: Freak Nastty. Anything could happen when both of these two men make their APW debut in what should be a good match from a different promotion.

Scotty Aboot Vs. Derek Sanders

Both men enter this match coming off of losses at Ground Zero, but who will step up for this one?

Oliver John Vs. J.J. Perez

"Old School" meets "Mr. APW." Expect to see J.J. take to the air, and for Oliver to keep things on the mat.

Tony Jones Vs. Glen Osbourne

"The Shooter" Tony Jones goes against ECWA's monster Glen Osbourne. Will Tony be able to use his technical skills to his advantage, or will the debuting monster be too much for him?

SUPER 8 FINALS

LADDER MATCH

The finals have been decided to be contested in a ladder match with the Super 8 trophy hanging in the balance. Who will leave this event with the trophy? And as an added bonus, whoever wins the tournament will face Kafu for the APW Universal Title at the Garage Rumble in a match of their choosing!

I havent really been keeping up with you but I just read thru the parts i missed and your doing good. Im sure u dont get a lot of readers cuz this isnt WWE or TNA, but if more people read it they would like it, you have a good style. I like how u predict what other companies signings are going to do.

and if you dont go bankrupt i can see you taking the company national and maybe even global. that would be kool.

my predictions for Super are JJ Perez/Dereck Sanders in the finals. I think Dereck will take it because he has Payton out there.

…Saturday, 24 February 2007…

super8.jpg

Announcers: Jermz & Mark Nulty

The show opens up with a very large crowd nearly filling the Bakersfield Dome. After the National Anthem is played, Gabe Ramirez walks down to the ring to get the crowd pumped up for the show. Gabe pulls the microphone up to his face to speak…

Gabe Ramirez: “Tonight is a very big night for APW, because tonight we are featuring an eight man tournament, and the winner will receive a shot at Kafu’s Universal Title at the Garage Rumble in a match of their choosing. Not only that, but this Super 8 tournament will also showcase 3 of the best that East Coast Wrestling Association had to offer before they went out of business. Let’s bring them out here and introduce them by giving them a nice big APW welcome!”

Some music plays and the fans give a mild reaction as three men walk out from the backstage and quickly get into the ring. The smallest man of the group grabs the microphone from Gabe and begins to talk…

“You might be asking yourself just who we are, right? Well I’ll make this introduction short and sweet, this here is ‘The Monster’ Glen Osbourne!” The guy points to the large man with makeup on his face who is carrying a chain with him. “This man to my right is known as Freak Nastty, and he was the last man to hold the ECWA World Title.” The man known as Freak Nastty flexes his rather large muscles to the crowd. “And you can call me the Cheetah Master! I am a member of the ECWA Hall of Fame, and tonight in this tournament, I take on the Freak here, and I’m going to show him exactly why I am in that Hall of Fame! He might have been the last champion the company had, but damn it I haven’t even peaked yet! We’ll get to our match in a second man, but there’s something us three representing ECWA need to do right now…” Cheetah Master looks over towards Gabe Ramirez, who looks a bit curious as to what is going on. Before Cheetah Master can do anything more, Glen Osbourne reaches over and grabs Gabe by his throat, picks him up and drops him down with a vicious choke slam! Instantly, both APW referees rush down to the ring, and Tom Castor alongside a few agents and a medic carry Gabe to the back, and Kristina McGraw threatens to take all three of them out of the tournament if Glen Osbourne doesn’t leave the ring right now so the match can start. After a while of not saying anything, Osbourne agrees and makes his way to the back, as Cheetah Master and Freak Nastty get in their respective corners and Kristina McGraw calls for the bell to sound to start the match.

Overall Rating: 50%

Awesome’s Notes: I really like the way this segment played out, and I was really weary of it at first. I think all three of their characters got recognized a little bit right away, which is good. Glen Osbourne is obviously the Monster of the group, and Freak Nastty is the Bad Ass. I think Cheetah Master pulled off the Cocky leader just fine, but nothing fantastic. It should be interesting to see if these guys can blend in with the main roster of APW.

ROUND 1

Cheetah Master Vs. Freak Nastty

Referee: Kristina McGraw

The opening bout of the tournament started off slow, as the two ECWA greats squared off. Freak Nastty tried using his power to go against the veteran Cheetah Master who used his speed to get away when he could. Freak Nastty went to superplex Cheetah Master, who shoved the last ECWA champ down to the mat, then jumped off with a big splash from the top rope, followed by the 1…2…3! After the match, Cheetah waited for Nastty to get back up, and they went to the back together, trying to stir up heat from the dead crowd.

Winner: Cheetah Master

Overall Rating: 27%

Crowd Reaction: 0%

Match Quality: 56%

Awesome’s Notes: That match just sucked. The crowd didn’t get into it at all, and it didn’t seem like their styles blended at all. They’re going to have to prove a lot more to me than what they just did if they’re hoping to work for APW again!

ROUND 1

Scotty Aboot Vs. Derek Sanders w/ Payton

Referee: Tom Castor

In a really good match, both men took to the air on several occasions and tried putting the other away early. In the end, Aboot reversed Derek’s Sandblaster with reverse DDT, giving him time to ascend to the top rope to hit a Shooting Star Press and pick up the win!

Winner: Scotty Aboot

Overall Rating: 57%

Crowd Reaction: 27%

Match Quality: 88%

Awesome’s Notes: This will probably end up being the match of the night, even though the fans weren’t too crazy about it. Sanders lost a bit of overness, but Aboot picked some up.

ROUND 1

Oliver John Vs. J.J. Perez

Referee: Kristina McGraw

The fans were really into this match, seeing two of the top APW talents collide. Oliver John tried keeping J.J. Perez down with his power and technical skill, but wasn’t able to avoid the 3rd Eclipse that came when J.J. saw Oliver on the top rope, dropped against the top rope which crotched him up top and allowed J.J. to hit his signature move to get the pinfall after.

Winner: “Mr. APW” J.J. Perez

Overall Rating: 59%

Crowd Reaction: 40%

Match Quality: 79%

Awesome’s Notes: I’ve wanted to put these two in a match since Oliver John first came to APW, and seeing as how they’re the top 2 faces I knew the crowd would love it, and it showed. The match itself wasn’t bad either, and I think it was a surprise to many when J.J. picked up the win.

ROUND 1

Tony Jones Vs. Glen Osbourne

Referee: Tom Castor

Tony Jones did everything he could, but nothing seemed enough to get the Monster off his feet. Jones tried to suplex Osbourne several times to no avail. Glen Osbourne ended up catching Tony with a big boot when he came running at him, and used his strength to throw him around the ring. Glen ended it by dropping Tony with a vicious powerbomb followed by the 3 count for the win. After the match, Osbourne grabbed his chain from ringside and whipped Jones across the back a couple times. Osbourne wraps the chain around his fist and punches at the head of Jones until he is busted open, and then makes his way out of the ring to the fans booing.

Winner: “The Monster” Glen Osbourne

Overall Rating: 56%

Crowd Reaction: 38%

Match Quality: 75%

Awesome’s Notes: The match was better than I thought it would be, and Osbourne had a bit of heat, but not as much as I was hoping. He gained some overness from this big win, but him trying to pull off a monster gimmick just isn’t working and it’s killing his heat, he’s just not menacing at all!

ROUND 2

Cheetah Master Vs. Scotty Aboot

Referee: Kristina McGraw

Cheetah Master and Scotty Aboot went back and forth, with both men trying to get in early pinfalls. Scotty Aboot turned his back on Cheetah Master who was getting back up, and for his rookie mistake was rolled up in a school boy pin as Cheetah Master pulling the tights, securing victory. Aboot got back up quickly, seemingly heated, as Cheetah Master rolled out of the ring and didn’t waste any time getting to the back.

Winner: Cheetah Master

Overall Rating: 49%

Crowd Reaction: 28%

Match Quality: 71%

Awesome’s Notes: Quite a disappointing matchup. I was thinking these two would gel well together, I guess not. Not just that, but the fans didn’t seem to have any interest in this match at all. Cheetah Master getting the win got him a little more overness, though. So at least something good came out of this.

ROUND 2

J.J. Perez Vs. Glen Osbourne

Referee: Tom Castor

Glen Osbourne man-handled J.J. Perez right from the opening bell. But, no matter what Osbourne did, it wasn’t enough to keep Perez down. J.J. kicked out of everything, even after his trademark powerbomb. This infuriated Glen Osbourne, who grabbed his chain and began to choke J.J. with it, and was instantly disqualified. After hearing the decision, the crazed Osbourne turned his attention to referee Tom Castor and hit him with a vicious clothesline using the chain. Osbourne left the ring screaming at the fans. J.J. and Tom Castor were both taken to the back the medic and a few agents as the show went to an intermission.

Crowd Reaction: 37%

Match Quality: 72%

Awesome’s Notes: The match was perfect for what it was. I tried pushing Osbourne again as a monster, the fans still don’t buy it and he continues to lose overness, even if he didn’t let J.J. get in one offensive move.

When the show returned from intermission, Cheetah Master came out to the ring and waited in the ring for a minute, no J.J. Perez. Then, the sound of horses trotting played throughout the Bakersfield Dome, and the old WCW 4 Horsemen theme song played, the crowd jumped in excitement and curiosity, as none other than J.J. Dillon stepped out from behind the curtain dressed in a black suit, and carrying a microphone. Dillon walks down to the ring and stops to pull a large object with a red sheet over it. Dillon walks up the steel steps and gets inside the ring, and places the big object in the center of the ring, while Cheetah Master looks on not knowing what exactly is going on. J.J. Dillon brings the microphone closer, and begins to talk…

J.J. Dillon: “Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor to be here tonight in APW. Tonight, I have seen some of the best wrestlers today fight for the Super 8 cup, which I am here to present it right now. But first, will J.J. Perez please come to the ring?”

J.J. Perez walks out to the ring, holding his hand against his neck from the match earlier. The fans cheer for him as he gets inside the ring and looks across it at Cheetah Master.

J.J. Dillon: “For years I watched as ECWA would have their Super 8 tournaments, and from the action I have seen earlier tonight, I would put this tournament right up there with any of the previous ones ever to have taken place.”

A wire lowers from the roof of the Dome, as J.J. Dillon unveils the trophy underneath the sheet. When the wire reaches the ring, J.J. Dillon hooks the top loop of the 8 to the wire, as it raises again.

J.J. Dillon: “And tonight, just a few moments away, these two men, Cheetah Master and J.J. Perez will put on a match that is sure to excite everybody here tonight. They compete in a ladder match, the winner will be the man who is able to grab the trophy first. So gentlemen, let’s show these fine people here tonight just what you’re made of. Let’s give them something to remember!”

After saying that, J.J. Dillon steps out of the ring as the fans give him a very loud ovation. He sits down at ringside to watch the match.

Overall Rating: 67%

Awesome’s Notes: It was really cool to have J.J. Dillon do this, and just having him here made the prize seem so much more important. He gained some overness by making an appearance for a new promotion for his first time, and delivering a good little promo that talked about the main event.

LADDER MATCH

Cheetah Master Vs. J.J. Perez

No Referee Needed

This match saw some very back and forth action and both men used the ladder to their advantage several times throughout the match. Cheetah Master dropped J.J. with a reverse DDT from the middle of the ladder, and J.J. even hit Cheetah with his 3rd Eclipse onto the ladder! A second ladder was brought into play by J.J. Perez, but it was quickly used against him and dropkicked into his face. Cheetah Master set J.J. on top of the ladder, and then hit him with a splash from the top rope, then set the ladder up in the middle of the ring and began to climb slowly. J.J. got back to his feet when Cheetah Master was nearly at the top, and clubbed him in the back a few times, stunning the Cheetah Master. J.J. used the second ladder and set it up leaning against the one on the middle, and continued by running up it and kicking Cheetah Master off of the middle ladder by using his Shining Wizard! J.J. Perez fell backwards a bit, but landed on his lodged up ladder and climbed back up to the top, and pulled down the Super 8 Trophy for the win! After the match, the crowd cheered loudly and J.J. Dillon got back into the ring with a microphone and began to talk…

J.J. Dillon: “Congratulations Mr. Perez. Now can I ask, what type of match do you wish to have against Kafu next month at the Garage Rumble for the APW Universal Championship?”

J.J. Perez thinks about this for a while, holding his trophy and basking in the glory…

J.J. Perez: “I may be the smallest man in APW today going up against the biggest, but that isn’t about to stop me from finally winning the Universal Title! Kafu, next month, right here in Bakersfield, California, we’re going to see if you can keep up with me, in an IRONMAN MATCH!”

The crowd erupts in cheers for J.J. again, as the rest of the competitors from the Super 8 Tournament fill the ring and clap their hands at J.J., who holds up his trophy in the middle of the ring for all to see as the show ends.

Winner: J.J. Perez

Overall Rating: 58%

Crowd Reaction: 36%

Match Quality: 80%

Awesome’s Notes: Really good match. Cheetah Master showed that he could keep up with a guy like J.J., and that’s really saying a lot. So now J.J. is the new number one contender, and while he is the smallest guy in APW, the fans are really behind him and I think they want him to be the one to finally defeat the Brazilian Beast.

…Monday, 12 February 2007…

In the aftermath of Super 8, Buddy Awesome had this to say:

”All around this wasn’t the best show we’ve ever had, but it was a lot better than I had expected. I have no clue how we were able to draw so many fans, but I think it was because of the legacy of the Super 8 Tournament from ECWA.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Cheetah Master, Freak Nastty, or Glen Osbourne. Glen just isn’t very menacing, especially for playing a monster character. Freak Nastty just seemed to not care at all, and I don’t think he’s really much m ore than just a big body. Cheetah Master was able to put on a good match with J.J., but it wasn’t anything spectacular. I don’t know how much longer these 3 will be on the APW roster, because I’m planning a big budget cut to immediately follow the Garage Rumble event.

So now that the main event of the Garage Rumble is booked with a classic David Vs. Goliath story, I just hope we’ll be able to draw as many fans as this show did, if not more! I have a few really big plans for this event, so it should promise to be the biggest in APW history, and if not, as least since I’ve been running it. All that I can promise is that there will be a lot of big names used on March 17!”
