Thought I'd just drop some quick thoughts in here...

Griffin/Edgar was easily the fight of the night, that kneebar at the end was sick, how he never tapped out to that I'll never know. How he got up and walked away afterwards I don't want to know, seriously that guy has to be more out there than Sylvia when he had his arm broke.

Rampage/Eastman was an alright match, nothing spectacular until the end with Rampage's flurry. The build up to Rampage/Chuck begins after the match as well, I imagine Rampage will face a tomato can next, a named fighter that isn't Ortiz and then be ready for Chuck.

Cro Cop is phenomenal, particularly if you look back and see that he was doing that at way below 100 per cent. Him coming out to the PRIDE theme was badass as well. Gotta feel sorry for Sanchez though, he never really stood much of a chance.

Anderson Silva had Lutter's number from the get go it seemed. I can't imagine Lutter ever getting another chance in the UFC. Cote on the other was alright, I'm glad to see him get his first win there as I've always had a soft spot for him, although not attack and looking for the knock out when he had the chance

----

In other random notes, I watched the end of TUF2 last night, the Heavyweight match up anyway. Great fight, both guys really gave it their all. Whatever happened to the big guy that lost though? I don't recall seeing him anywhere since this.

You will never see Rampage vs. Ortiz regardless. Those two used to be teammates and are still really good friends.

Hence why I said a named fighter not called Ortiz :P

And yeah, Imes/Rashid was just a great slugfest. The second fight on that show was Nick Diaz against Nightmare, which was excellent from a technical standpoint. So that hour long show just had it all.

Speaking of random huge guys tht just disappeared from the UFC, whatever happened to Wes Sims? Man, that guy was mental.

He didn't really just disappear. His departure from the UFC was pretty justified. He went into the UFC, got DQ'd in one of the stupidest acts I've ever seen in MMA, then went on to get completely whooped twice. Then he got his ass handed to him again by Ricardeau Francois in APEX, ending in hilarious fashion as he almost got knocked out of the ring, then a few fights later he was disposed of with ease by Tim Sylvia in Hawaii. After that, he hasn't been that bad. Actually, After he loss to Tim, he amassed a 10-1 record, the biggest win against Kimo. Probably a sign that Kimo should find work doing something else. All his other wins were on small shows against less than notable competition.

To Sims credit, he did pass on a potential spot as Kimo's last minute replacement in the Bas Rutten fight last year. Instead, he went on with his prior commitment to headline a WEC promoted card in the honor of highly respected MMA journalist and former UFC (eventually IFL, WEC itself, to name a few) announcer Ryan Bennett, who had passed away recently. It was an unpaid exhibition bout, with all ticket sales and donations going to his widow and children.

But one thing Wes has always done better than any other fighter is get KO'd in spectacular fashion.

I really hope Randy can prove me wrong, but I seriously doubt it. Here's to what looks like a decent card.

I'm surprised to see three people picking Sylvia KOing Couture, a TKO is more than likely his way of victory and the way Couture has generally lost to bigger opponents before. That said, Captain America is taking the title in my mind, so you've all picked the wrong guy anyway :P

The difference is that his heavyweight division losses where at the hands of two guys who wanted to put Randy on his back and finish him from there. Tim's strategy is standing up and utilizing his long reach to look for the KO, which I don't expect to be any different for Randy. I'm not saying it couldn't end TKO, but Tim always goes for the big KO. It's whether or not Randy can appear able to defend himself if he gets knocked down. With the weight behind Tim's punches, I don't like Couture's chances of taking a heavy shot square on the jaw and not going lights out. Randy getting knocked down and out on his back while Tim lands one or two more shots before the ref gets there to stop it, not a TKO. That's what I see happening.

But honestly, this is one prediction I wouldn't mind being severely wrong about.

The Sylvia/Couture fight is hard to predict. I really want to see Couture walk away with the title (then again, I don't want to see him to get killed by Cro Cop in his first defence) but if Sylvia brings his 'A' game and brings the sort of defence that saw him stop Monsoon taking him down then he's got this. Although Couture should be able to do better and I was impressed with his match against Ronaldo Souza when he took him to a draw. I see Couture taking Sylvia down in the 2nd and getting the submission with a choke.
