Okay so I'm trying to do my first graphic and I am using the airbrush to try and erase some of the PSD so taht it blends in with the background, but when I erase, instead of getting the back ground, I get white or silver or black or whatever happens to be in the defeault color's block. How do I fix this.

If you are using photoshop you either have to activate quick mask mode(Q) . or add a layer mask to the layer you are working on (by either going to layer - layer mask - reveal all. or you cna click the layer mask button at the bottom of the layers palette. its the little white circle inside a small square)
