Punk/Ska/Hardcore .. anything

What is the punk/ska/hardcore/anything scene like in Georgia (particularly the Atlanta area.)? I'm moving on Saturday and around here there's a pretty damn good scene, being so close to Boston, NYC, Jersey, DC, Philly and whatnot. So if anyone has some info, let me know.

I think, if Atlanta is like anywhere else in the south I've been to, there'll be just a "General Rock Music Scene", and it'll suck. There isn't enough interest in non-pop/country/rap to garner a good rock music scene, let alone scenes devoted to a sub-genre.

I live in South Carolina, around four hours or so from Atlanta, and we have a fairly big hardcore/punk/metal scene here.

Of course, by big, I mean there are a lot of bands. That doesn't mean they're any good. Most of the ones I've seen all sound the same.

As for Atlanta specifically, I have no idea.

When I was in Atlanta at Christmas everything was just rap rap and rap. That was mainly the downtown areas, couldn't say for the general area but it was mainly rap. Whippersnapper are from Athens though, and I'm sure there was a few other bands I remember seeing of the punk/rock variety from Athens. But when I was there in Atlanta everything was just rap.
