ESPYs '04

Who plans on watching them? They were on Wednesday and will be broadcasted tonight on ESPN at around 9 PM ET. Does anyone have a list of nominees? I went to the ESPY website but they've already put up the winners on there which is pretty stupid considering the show hasn't even aired yet.

I'd rather light myself on fire than watch these "awards."

The fucking Grammys have more integrity.

....although if Jarome Iginla doesn't win best NHL athlete, I'm going into the ESPN offices with my 9.

I wonder if they'll have one of those "special" awards for somebody who died or somebody who is brave and did something.

I am pretty sure that they are I know that there is going to be some sort of Tribute to Pat Tillman, and according to the Nomination Show the Arthur Ashe award is going to Liberian Soccer Player George Weah for his humanitarian efforts in his war torn country.

There definitely will be something for Tillman

I'm angry about how apparently the ESPN writer dissed the Saints play.

Here is the quote:

The big upset (read big mistake) of the night: The Saints' multi-lateral TD play takes down D-Fish's .04 shot? Uh, no. Don't think so.

How many times will there ever be an amazing lateral play as that? Not too many as far as I'm aware. Besides, it's punishment enough that the Saints lost the dang game even after the lateral, just let 'em get the award. Other than that, I had no real problem at all with the ESPYaward winners although Best Athlete With A Disability should've went to Zach Gowen. :shifty:

Can you say OBLIGATORY AMERICAN?

ESPY's Credibility Just Went Down a Point.

Actually the award went to David Beckham (not much better). Henry should have got it.

he's referring to the nomination......not the winner.

Indeed. Even ESPN isn't so soccer stupid as to give Donovan the win. But the point is, the MLS (by every stretch of the imagination) is an inferior product to UEFA. Would the best pitcher in AAA baseball get nominated for the Cy Young?

well the ESPYs are in no way close to the Cy Young. ESPYs are voted on by the fans while the others get voted on by the media. There is no argument that MLS is inferior to the UEFA but it's starting to gain steam here and who knows may even be something 5 years down the road.
