R.I.P. Bo Diddley

I've just moved house and I'm temporarily without internet, so I haven't been/won't be around here as much as usual, but this deserves me going out of my way to make a point of:

Basically, if you like rock and roll, anything from the Rolling Stones onwards, you've been touched by the work of Bo Diddley. And that's putting it lightly. Can't remember if he'd popped up in the influential list or not, but whether he has or not, fuck it, this is sad news, although at least the guy had a good innings. Always sad to lose one of the old guard, though, and as I've said about a few people in the influences thread, it's easy enough to say "he influenced this, this band wouldn't be the same, etc. etc.", but let us not forget that he's fucking brilliant in his own right, outside of any of that context.

Man, I saw this online yesterday and it completely sucks. Even though I never listened to Bo Diddley a lot, he was still an amazing and influential musician that should be more recognized then he is.
