My Javascript is screwed

Not sure if this is the right forum but what the heck...

OK, so everytime i go to watch a Youtube vid or watch any kind of video on the net I get a message saying that my Javascript is turned off. I googled how to turn it back on and it said I need to click 'Enable' in the Active Scripting bit of my Internet Options (Security tab), so i've done that and its still saying the same thing. It also suggests downloading the new Flash which I've done too! My internet crashed this afternoon and when it came back on my homepage had changed to some random Packard Bell webpage. I expect thats when my Javascript got screwed but only noticed it tonight.

Any suggestions?

Try another browser (Firefox? Chrome?) to rule out browser settings.

Run some anti-spyware software (MalwareBytes? Adaware? SpybotS&D?) to rule out nasties.
