OLD Computer Game(s)

I've been in a retro game swing lately, and I seem to remember an old set of games where you would control a character in some story, and you would type into a dialog box what you wanted the character to do. I remember one of these games involving a key to a door to a house being inside a pumpkin or something, and you having to type in, "Pick up pumpkin/smash pumpkin/pick up key," stuff along those lines.

Anybody remember these games and know what they're called?

The Hugo trilogy, and you speak specifically of game #1, Hugo's House of Horrors.

Yup, oldskool's right. I spent many an hour trying to navigate through the mummy room and trying to type quickly enough to throw the meat to that damned dog.

aim for the door from the right edge, tap left arrow key

type throw chop

pass through doorway

hit enter

it took me about 10 years to even get the chop.

And then I ripped through 1, 2 & 3 without much of a hitch, except for the similar timing part in 3.

I never finished 2. I was horrible at it. I beat the hell out of 3, though. That jungle was my bitch.

the maze in 2 was a bitch. the rest of it i don't even remember except the one puzzle after the dryer vent. or was it the laundry chute?

I smell Hugo's House of Mafia.

I don't remember playing the third one that much if at all. I need to get a hold of these games again, though, along with some Torins Passage game that used to be on the computer.

I remember playing a similar kind of game on a school computer when I was ickle. There was a point where you had to type in things to feed a Dragon, and it soon became obvious that it would 'like' anything that began with the letters D R A G O or N.

Naturally, we six year olds had some fun with that.

No idea what the name of the game was, although dragons seemed a fairly common theme in it throughout.
