I for sure felt like it rewarded you with a lot of fun stuff if you have played the games but I can't really think of anything off the top of my head that would have been especially confusing if you hadn't. Maybe the whole retro futuristic aesthetic but once you adjust to that I feel like you're good

Okay, yeah, to be fair, I was confused when I learned the initial part of the show is set in 2077 and then the main portion is 200 years later. Spoiler thoughts on that.

    Spoiler

I initially didn't like it because I felt it was a bit confusing but after some thought, the idea that the vault makers would intentionally choose the 1950s (an era of hyper consumerism, nationalism and a fear of nuclear war) is such a great choice by the game designers and I like it more than if nuclear war happened in the 1950s.

The Fallout TV Series Is Fun, But It Really Wants You To Know That It’s Fallout

Spoilers.  This is an interesting article, because it argues you kind of have to know about the Fallout series to understand the Fallout show

As someone who never played the games, I never felt this at all. The world was so new to me that there was enough there to make me understand I was watching a Fallout show. I don't know what I don't know but it never felt like I was missing important info but I am sure there were a million Easter eggs for people who played the games.

Also, the show caused Fallout to have it's highest number of people playing on Steam this weekend, so it worked to get people to play the game too.

tbf now that you mentioned him doing a character, I kinda hope he treats the tasks like he's auditioning for What We Do in the Shadows

Everytime he finishes a task, he should run off and yell "bat!"

Is he playing a character? Or is he just wearing a silly costume? Because his interview didn't seem in-character at all, it's not like he was doing the Mr. Swallow voice.

I really wish I could've gone to the series premiere event going on in NYC, but it sold out in minutes. :(

Funny, I posted that just before I watched his interview and yeah, it didn't seem like he was doing Mr. Swallow. It's likely that it's just a costume.

  5. I am super intrigued by how Nick Mohammed's character work is going to go over. I can't imagine Taskmaster (and Alex & Greg) were good with it without it being heavily thought through and being worth the risk but I've already seen some comments that it feels off-putting.

I love Zavala as a back up catcher. He's one of those players that I hit well with even though they don't have the best attributes.

How did Chapman do in your first few seasons? For me, he's been decent power hitter that doesn't get on base as much as you'd like.

Yeah, Zavala is my guy right now. He's hitting like .280 in the 9th spot when he bats, so I'll take it.

That's pretty much exactly what happened. He hit for a bunch of power and has such good defense. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd re-sign him but if memory serves me correctly, it was a pretty decent price (like $15M or something), so I went for it.

  7. Okay, unsure if I'm going to buy MLB The Show 24 but I've had a really fun 23 Franchise going with the Blue Jays.

I Manage each game but then play the last one of the series. The first year, we ended up losing to the Yankees in the ALDS, then won the World Series in the second year. Now in the middle of Year 3.

Rotation is currently Alek Manoah (who has been really good because he started with the stats he had at the start of last year), Dustin May (just signed to a long-term deal and is doing incredible), Jose Berrios, Nate Pearson and Ricky Tiedemann. Also traded for Kyle Harrison and he got a shot at the rotation but is now in the bullpen. Adrian Houser was signed to a one year deal last year to be the longman. Thought about adding someone new but he was the best option for the least amount of money so I brought him back. Romano left even though I offered him the most money so Andres Munoz, who I traded for is the new closer. Tim Mayza continues to regress but his stats are amazing. Jordan Hicks, Joe Mantiply (traded from the Dbacks), JT Chargois and Dylan Coleman round out the rest of the pen. Two of our 100 prospects are pitchers that I drafted.

Vlad and Bo got locked up long term. Kyle Tucker just signed a big deal and I maybe will regret it as he's already regressing. But he replaced George Springer who was traded to Seattle. Chapman re-signed after 2023 to a 5 year deal. Kirk is behind the dish with Jansen being traded after 2023. Rotating back-up catchers including with Jorge Alfaro, Carson Kelly and Seby Zavala (currently) all being shuffled through. Traded for Lars Nootbar and signed Alex Verdugo to round out the outfield. Verdugo typically DHs unless one of the outfielders needs a rest day. Rest of the bench is Addison Barger, Orelvis Martinez and Michael Taylor.

Might wait until I know for sure there is a decent full minors roster and then upgrade to 24 but am enjoying this Franchise and not sure I want to leave anytime soon.

  8. The blurring out that bums me out the most is Gene Okerlund. I get that they don't want to pay royalties but it's so sad to see someone so synonymous with 80s/90s WWF get blurred out in the video packages.

Just watched the first episode. A couple of creative changes I wouldn't have made, but otherwise a solid adaptation, and it was magical seeing so much of it in love action. Zuko actor is nailed on and Sokka actor is very faithful too.

I'd be intrigued to hear comments from anyone who didn't watch the cartoon because people who have seen it are being their usual Stan selves and being hyper protective of any slight deviation from source material that isn't a scene for scene replication.

Have never watched the show but am familiar with lots of the characters juts due to some conversations I've had with other podcasting folks.

I really really liked it. It's not perfect but for the most part, the foundation of the story is so strong. I can immediately see why people liked the show and can only imagine how good it is if it's able to flesh out more of the story.

Really love Zuko and Katara's stories, especially with the context of the flashbacks.

The roster list on the 2k24 site doesn't seem to be completely up to date as its missing Drew McIntyre, George Steele, Kurt Angle, and Ken Shamrock who were all confirmed.

In terms of other current names missing the one headscratcher missing is Karl Anderson.  Luke Gallows is in and both guys were DLC last year.  I'd have to assume him not being listed is an oversight on the roster page unless there's a weird contractual thing like when they left off Ciampa and Nikki Cross that one year.

Can't really expect everyone from NXT being in but Mark Coffey not being in is strange given Joe Coffey and Wolfgang's inclusions.  Lyra Valkyria and Von Wagner aren't in either unless the roster on the site wasn't up to date.

Dragon Lee was with WWE well early enough to be included but his omission doesn't surprise me as they're always gonna want to withhold some fun names for DLC.  Carlito is also someone I'd expect for DLC.  Oh and I'd assume they'll do whatever they have to to get CM Punk in as late stage DLC too.

I see Karl Anderson and Mark Coffey on the list.

  11. A system more akin to line-up and rotation building from OOTP would be amazing. Laying out more options for how someone should be used. I'd love an option to "re-set" the rotation (aka the ace should start the next game) for things like the first game after the All-Star Break. Or even to switch to a 6-man rotation or indicate that you are going to use an Opener rather than your Starter in the next game.

Twins trade Jorge Polanco to the Mariners for  Anthony DeSclafani, Justin Topa, Darren Bowen, and Gabriel Gonzalez

To someone more versed in the MLB: Should I be pleased about this or upset? Haha

From what I've seen it seems like a big overpay for Polanco.

Jays added Justin Turner for one year. Is he still capable of playing third every day, or is he just a bat at this point in his career?

He played 98 games at DH and 41 at 1B. Only 7 at 3B. That being said, the Red Sox have Devers.

I think he's there primarily as DH, occasional back-up 1B and maybe sometimes 3B. He's basically Belt but right handed and with more power than OBP.

That Dicaprio movie is on Apple TV now. I have Apple TV so I feel like I should watch that Dicaprio movie.

I don't want to watch that Dicaprio movie :(

You ever feel like you should watch something you really don't want to just so you can keep up with Movies? Do you cave and watch it even though you don't want to? I'm struggling with it. 3 and a half hours seems like torture to me

Yeah, don't watch it all at once. I know that's sort of taboo for movie people but honestly it's fine. I think it's a great movie but it's great because it's tough to watch.

  15. Been asked to make a Royal Rumble match with mostly CAWs. The entrants will be various podcast guests or notable people mentioned on the podcast. Need to be able to have it be intergender and would like the match to be between 30-45 minutes ideally.

Any suggestions on what game would be the easiest to mod or use?

Overall, I'd say I liked but didn't love the season. If I'd had to rank them I'd go 2,1,4,5,3.

Also I don't think Witt was really developed enough to make me care about his death. IMO would have been more interesting if we had a final scene between Gator and Roy leading to Roy's arrest rather than an off-hand comment that Gator told the cops about the escape tunnel.

    Spoiler

I definitely agree with this. Seems like Hawley's idea with Whit was that he's sort of similar to Dot (he moves in the world with decency) and that in any given situation, one person who does that can end up having a nice homemade chili and one might end up dead. But I think that could have been fleshed out a lot more to stress that point.
