WCW Saturday Night Improves Ratings!
While Worldwide still failed with a 0.09 rating, Saturday Night came in with a 2.36 rating. Officals and new head booker were said to be very, very happy with the rating. Rumors around the backstage area are that WCW is trying to get a Monday Night spot, exactly where WWF RAW IS WAR, is slated. If that happens, WWF could possible see it's first real challenge from anoth wrestling promotion.

WCW continues firings!
After last week's release of Dusty Rhodes, WCW continues to let people go. Harley Race, Tom Zenk, and Larry Zybysko have all been released just this week. Harley Race was said to be upset that he was no longer paired with Vader as his manager, and would not accept any idea creative had for him. Tom Zenk has been talked about being fired for several months as he has been what locker room leaders call, a "annoyance". Most in the locker room are happy he is gone. Larry Zybysko and WCW came to a mutual agreement to end their tenure together. Nothing has been mentioned about the reason.

WCW Saturday Night Preview!
Last week, Ric Flair and Sting had their words. This week, Sting and Flair will choose opponants for each other. Flair will choose Sting's opponant, and Sting will choose Flair's opoonant for Saturday. Who will they choose for each other and what will the outcome be?

With Booker T, PaulRoma, and Ron Simmons already into the second round, what will we see from the World Television Championship Tournament this week?

Vader laid down the challenge, but with no person in mind. Will someone step-up this week, or hide in the shadows again?

Teddy Long sabotaged his former client's Tournament match last week. This week, will we see a reason for this? And what sort of revenge does Johnny B. Badd have in store for Long?

All this and much more on WCW Saturday Night, on TBS at 6 P.M.!

Frank Giovanni: Hello, welcome everybody, tonight is...

Tony Schiavone: Hold on, I'm supposed to welcome people to the show.

Frank: Oh I'm sorry, go ahead.

Tony: Okay, welcome everybody....

Tony is cut off by the music of Lord Steven Regal.

Lord Steven Regal: Cut the music. First, I want to say one thing to my former manager, Sir William. You're fired! You've done nothing but pull me down, and you let them take the bloody title off me. Next, I would like to address the World Television Championship Tournament. When that sonofabitch Larry Zybysko broke my nose, and put me out of action for a month, that title was taken from me. Now I demand, that I be put in the last first round match. I demand that, right now!

The music of Nick Bockwinkel hits and he quickly goes to the ring

Nick Bockwinkel: You want to be put in that tournament? I can see where you're coming from Steven, but I'm sorry the tournament sports are filled.

Regal: You put me in that match Bockwinkel!

Bockwinkel: Okay, you know what I'll do for you Regal? I'm gonna give you the chance to get into that match. If you win that match, you'll face Jean Paul Levesque, and Maxx Payne, in a triple threat match. Your opponent, Big Van Vader! And it's next!

Match One

-Lord Steven Regal vs. Big Van Vader-

Regal is already in the ring from his interview, and Vader is coming down now. Vader climbs in and Regal goes right at him with left jabs. Vader drops to one knee and Regal hits him with a double knee strike. Vader staggers but doesn't fall over yet, so Regal hits him with a European Uppercut. Vader falls and Regal covers but only gets a one when Vader throws Regal to the side to kickout. Vader gets up quickly and Regal is up too. Vader takes a few Uppercuts European style from Regal but it doesn't faze him. Vader grabs Regal by the head and throws him into the turnbuckle. Regal tries to run out, but is held by his former manager Sir William. The ref comes over and is trying to get rid of him. Vader runs at Regal and hits a huge splash on him. Regal slumps in the corner and Vader drags him out a little. Vader goes to the middle rope above Regal. But he gets pulled down. It's not by Regal though, it's by Sid Vicious! Vicious picks Vader up and hits the Powerbomb! He throws Regal on top of him and turns the ref around, and he counts the three!

Winner: Lord Steven Regal

Sid picks up a microphone.

Sid Vicious: Oh hey Vader, I accept!

Tony: Did you hear that?! He says he accepts Vader's challenge for Clash Of The Champions! What a match!

Frank: Wow tomorrow night is going to be huge! We've already got a huge card and let's take a look at some of the matches!

Mister Rude

Tony: Welcome back everybody, now we talked about Clash Of The Champions and that huge main event, but we still don't know what that stipulation is! Here with the latest is 'Mean' Gene Okerlund.

Gene: Thank you Tony, I'm here backstage with the man that claims the best body in WCW and the world, Rick Rude.

Rick Rude: Claims? Hold on Gene, claims? Look at me, I DO have the best body in the world. And don't you forget it! Steamboat! You've been walking around too long with your head in the clouds. It's time for the best body in the world to bring you back to earth!

Gene: Now Rick...

Rude: Mister Rude.

Gene: Mister Rude, you told various people that there would be a stipulation to this match. Have you come up with something?

Rude: I came up with it when I told people about it, and I've been preparing for the match ever since I thought of it. It was an early, June morning, the sun had just come up. I was eating toast...

Gene: Mister Rude, the match?

Rude: Oh, right. I didn't reveal this until the last possible moment, because I wanted to give you the least time to prepare. Just so I could make you suffer more. The answer to the stipulation? A First Blood Match! That's right Steamboat, tomorrow night, your blood, will fill the Orlando streams....there are streams in Orlando right Gene?

Gene: Yes I believe somewhere, about 10 miles east of...

Tony: Thank you Gene, we'll try to get a oceanographer out there or something. No, no, no Frank you have to stay here, we need for other things other than finding streams.

Frank: Oh sorry, you know I was a oceanography major at Hardvard.

Tony: You mean Harvard?

Frank: No Hardvard! How many times do I have to say it!

===========

Match Two

-'Stunning' Steve Austin vs. Scott Sandlin-

Austin comes to the ring for another enhancement talent match. Non-title to make things clear. Sandlin is already there and Austin toys with him for a while. Sandlin mounts a small offense and the crowd gets behind him but Austin quickly shuts him down and hits the Stun Gun. He goes for the cover but the music of Brian Pillman brings him off Sandlin.

Brian Pillman: Steve! Steve what are you doing!? You've been belittled to this? My god, we used to be at the top of the mountain. WCW Tag Team Champions, The Hollywood Blondes. What happened Steve? You just...decided to end it? It was really...hurtful. I want that friendship back Steve! I want that team to rise to the top again Steve! I want to be 'Stunning' Brian Pillman! Please Steve, let's get the old team back together!

Austin looks at Pillman weird after the suggestion of his name, but Sandlin rolls him up and holds the tights! He gets the three!

Winner: Scott Sandlin

Austin gets up and can't believe what just happened as Sandlin walks down the ramp and hugs Pillman!

Tony: Why are they hugging, what's going on? I thought Pillman wanted the old days back!?

Frank: Well as I recall, Pillman and Sandlin used to team all the time...no? Are you sure? Darn...

Pillman and Sandlin leave with a laugh and Pillman turns back around with the mic.

Pillman: Steve, meet the NEW Hollywood Blondes! Oh yeah, and tomorrow, I'm taking your belt, at Clash Of The Champions!

==========

Tony: Another match made tonight wow what a show it's going to be! We've got Flair backstage but first, let's take a look at what has happened these last few weeks!

Video package of Flair's betrayal, and duelling interviews airs.

Commercial Break:

Your move Stinger

Backstage, Flair and Arn Anderson are reviewing a few profiles of wrestlers.

Ric Flair: Him?

Arn Anderson: No, too small.

Flair: Him?

Anderson: Too slow.

Flair: Who then?

Anderson: Ron Simmons?

Flair: Sounds good to me.

Gene: Um, excuse me Ric, did you decide on a partner for Sting yet?

Flair: Just in time Gene. Arn, go tell Simmons about his match. Well you see Mean Gene! Tonight is the night before the very first Unification Match! And yours truly, wooo, The Natcha Boy, is in it. Now Sting, you've got a big choice to make tonight, choosin' my partner. I'm just 'ere to tell ya Stinger, whoever you pick! Denny Brown, or Vader! Or anybody in this locker room! I will beat them! I'm on the top of the mountain Stinger! The number one! And if you wanna be number one Sting! You gotta beat! Number one! It's your move Stinger! Wooooo!

Flair goes to shut the door on Gene but sees Johnny B. Badd chasing a cameraman around from behind with a wild look in his eye.

Flair: The hell's wrong with this company...

===========

Match Three

-Ron Simmons vs. Sting-

Simmons didn't seem to be ready and is out in his jeans and t-shirt. Sting, however has been ready all night. Simmons starts by wanting a test of strength with Sting. Sting shrugs and goes for it. Ron starts to win it but Sting comes fighting back. He gets Simmons to his knees and gives him an uncharacteristic headbutt. Sting throws him into the ropes and catches him in a sleeper on the way back. Simmons starts to fade but powers out of it. Sting grabs his legs and it looks like he's going for the Scorpion Deathlock, but Simmons powers out again. Simmons gives a few rights to Sting and gains full control. After a long domination by Simmons he goes for the Dominator, but Sting slips out! He grabs him behind the legs and locks in the Scorpion Deathlock! Simmons doesn't want to, but lays down the tap!

Winner by submission: Sting

Tony: He gets him to tap! He survived the man Flair picked!

Frank: Yeah he got lucky, don't worry Tony, Simmons isn't Ric Flair.

Your Turn Now

Sting: Flair...you're not the only one...who can beat...anybody! You wanna.....know who your partner is Flair! He's probably....sitting right next...to you!

We go backstage to where Flair is watching this on a tv, and Arn Anderson comes into view. Anderson looks at Flair and Flair looks at Anderson and looks very upset! He looks to his other side, hopeful that Sting means someone else, but there isn't anyone!

Sting: That's right Flair...Arn Anderson!

Sting sets down the mic, still panting from his match, and walks to the back with a smile.

Commercial Break

Somethin' to say, Playa

Teddy Long: Listen here playa. You've got a big match ta tune up for an even bigga match tomorrow. This is an important match, because you want to be as close to a hunderd pacent, as ya can be playa. Now Badd is a tough man, but he wasn't producin' so I dropped 'im.

The camera zooms out and shows Booker T standing next to Long. Just then Stevie Ray walks in.

Stevie Ray: Book, what are you doin' with this dude?

Booker T: Nothin' brotha, don't worry abat it.

Stevie Ray: Aight well let's go. You got a match.

===========

Match Four

-Booker T vs. Johnny B. Badd-

Johnny starts off chasing Long around the ring until he runs into a clothesline from Booker. Ray is on the other side and glares at Long, like he doesn't want him here. Booker throws Badd back in the ring and goes for a cover, but gets a short one count. Booker picks him up and hits a suplex. He rolls over top of him and covers for another one. He starts to argue with the ref that it was at least two. Badd gets up and rolls him up, but Booker kicks out after two. Booker works the neck from there on out and Long and Ray get in each others way while cheering on Booker. Booker hits a DDT and waits for Badd to get up. He bounces off the ropes and hits the Axe Kick! He gets the three!

Winner: Booker T

Tony: Booker gets the win, maybe tomorrow night he'll get his first singles championship!

Frank: Hopefully he does so he can break off of his deadweight brother.

Tony: Deadweight, Frank they're multi-time WCW World Tag Team Champions, you don't do that with deadweight!

Frank: Book obviously carried him.

Tony: We'll be right back.

Commercial Break

===========

The demons inside

Kevin Sullivan: You know, it came to me in a dream. The demons inside me told me to pick Cactus Jack to be my partner, and lead me to the titles. These demons, try my soul at times. Like last week, the demons wanted me to turn on Jack and give The Nasty Boys the championships, with a promise of, "activity" with Missy Hyatt, after. I told those demons to shut up, and gave Saggs the Piledriver. And it felt so good. The demons that lead me to Jack and that lead me to Missy Hyatt are one in the same. A skitzophrenic demon inhabit me. But, nonetheless, Cactus and I will prevail at Clash Of The Champions, in our triple threat tag match. I for one cannot wait to get back in the ring, and beat these boys down. Because Sullivan and Jack, are comin' at ya!

Cactus Jack: Bang bang!

Tony: What the hell was that about...demons? What demons?

Frank: Well I believe we all know about those sexual demons inside us all.

Tony: What the hell is wrong with you?

Frank: Well when I was a baby, my mother smoked...

Tony: Regal is on his way out, give me your life story later.

Frank: In paperback or hardcover?

===========

Match Five

-Lord Steven Regal vs. Jean Paul Levesque vs. Maxx Payne-

Regal and JPL seem to form an alliance to one another in this final first round match for the World Television Championship! Payne comes in and gets the boots from both JPL and Regal. Regal takes control of Payne while JPL sits in the corner. Regal takes Maxx to the other turnbuckle and stats firing measured shots to the stomach and sternum of Payne. Payne fights back and JPL comes out of nowhere with a flying elbow. Regal goes to cover but JPL pulls him off and goes for the cover. Regal grabs JPL by the neck and throws him to the other side of the ring. JPL gets back up to one knee and looks at Rgal as if asking why. Regal answers with a double knee strike to the face. Maxx comes from behind Regal and hits him with a sledge to the back. Regal drops to his knee and Payne hits a running enziguri! Payne goes for the cover but JPL breaks it up with a leg drop off the top! Payne gets thrown to the outside and JPL focuses his attention on Regal. Levesque picks up Regal and sets him up for The Pedigree, but it's reversed by Regal into what looks like a crossface! JPL is about to tap when Maxx breaks up the pin. Regal gets up and Maxx goes for the Maximum Overdrive, but JPL slams into him, sending him out of the ring. Regal hits JPL with a left jab and then puts him in The Regal Stretch! JPL is reaching for the ropes and Payne is out on the floor! JPL finally stomps the floor and the ref takes it as a tap!

Winner by submission: Lord Steven Regal

JPL tries to convince the ref after recovering that it wasn't a tap but the ref says not a chance.

Tony: Regal's got a chance to gain back his title tomorrow night!

Frank: Mark my words he'll do it too.

Commercial Break

===========

Tony: Thank you for joining back with us, let's get straight to it, your WCW Saturday Night, Main Event!

Main Event

-Ric Flair vs. Arn Anderson-

Flair comes to the ring and awaits Anderson. Anderson comes to the ring and stands toe-to-toe with Flair. Fair smiles but Anderson doesn't flinch at all. Flair is looking like he's waiting for something and suddenly the smile disappears. Flair finally screams at Anderson to lay down like they talked about, but Anderson shakes his head. Flair starts flipping out and finally pokes Anderson in the eye. Anderson recovers and clotheslines Flair. Again, he clotheslines him. A third time and Flair is down. Anderson hits an elbow and covers for two. Flair gets back to his feet and hits Anderson with a few punches to the stomach. Flair begins the chop fest and backs Arn into the corner. Flair chops at Anderson as the crowd counts to ten. Anderson throws Flair off and irish whips him into the opposite turnbuckle. He follows up with a clothesline and begins his own chopping. The crowd counts to ten for Anderson also and the crowd is loving this match. Flair runs away from an eleventh chop and is hanging on the ropes facing the rampway. Sting shows up at the top of the ramp with a chair and takes a seat to scope out his opponent close-up. Anderson hits a knee drop on Flair and Flair is snapped back to the reality of his match. Anderson drags Flair to the middle of the ring and sets him up for his own signature Figure Four! Being the Figure Four specialist though, Flair escapes and puts it on Anderson! Anderson taps out! Anderson taps!

Winner by submission: Ric Flair

Tony: How about that Frank, they both end up with submission victories!

Frank: Yes they did, that's when you tap out, we've seen a lot of those ways to win tonight.

Flair and Anderson hug in the ring and shake hands. Sting starts walking slowly to the ring and jumps in. Anderson tries to separate them, telling them to save it for tomorrow night, but neither one wants to!

Tony: Get some help, get some help!

Anderson wants help from the back too and security rushes out quickly, separating the two finally. They're both screaming about tomorrow night when we go off the air.

Official Clash Of The Champions 27 Card On TBS!

Unification Match

Ric Flair, WCW World Champion vs. Sting, WCW International World Champion

Weeks of going back and forth, and the biggest match, perhaps, in WCW history is so close. Who will become the very first WCW World Heavyweight Champion!?

Number One Contender's Match

Big Van Vader vs. Sid Vicious

Just last night, Sid accepted the open challenge from Vader with a Powerbomb. Who will be the next number one contender for the new unified championship?

First Blood Match

Rick Rude vs. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat

An irate and arrogant Rick Rude has attacked Steamboat and avoided him many times. Who will bleed first in this huge grudge match!?

U.S Championship Match

'Stunning' Steve Austin © vs. Brian Pillman

Pillman formed the new Hollywood Blondes last night with Scott Sandlin who scored a pinfall on the U.S champion. Austin accepted the challenge and has made it a personal vendetta to beat Pillman to the ground.

World Television Championship Tournament Final

Lord Steven Regal vs. Booker T vs. Paul Roma vs. Ron Simmons

These four men went through a tough first round, who will become the next champion for the vacant title!?

WCW Tag Team Championship Match

Cactus Jack vs. Pretty Wonderful vs. The Nasty Boys

Jack and Sullivan defeated The Nasty Boys in a brutal match just two weeks ago, Orndorff begged the new head booker to put his team in the match. However, one half of Pretty Wonderful, Roma also hasnother match later in the night. Who will come out on top in this triple threat tag team match!?

Guest Larry the Mole Man

Sting

Despite this being a good feud and all, I see the Stinger coming out on top. The only reason is for the following man to win and another feud to happen.

Big Van Vader

Vader lost his title to Sting. So, he earns his number one contendership, beats Sid and goes on to fight the Stinger and continue their feud.

Rick Rude

This could EASILY go either way, but I see it like this. Ref is somehow occupied [maybe Rude took off a turnbuckle and he's tying it up or he took a bump], Rude gets busted open but quick thinking, wipes off his own blood and puts it on Steamboat. Ref turns around to see Steamboat covered in Rude's blood and gives Rude the win.

'Stunning' Steve Austin ©

Austin wins and Pillman goes to the tag division with Sandlin. Austin then feuds with Flair who lost his title. Or maybe Ron Simmons.

Lord Steven Regal

I don't think Harlem Heat should be split, Paul Roma will win the tag titles earlier in the week and Simmons could feud with either Austin or Regal after Regal regains the TV Title.

Pretty Wonderful

The Pauls gain the win after Jack and Sullivan/Nasty Boys take each other out and they get the cheap victory.

A strange character walks out in a black trenchcoat, with sunglasses, black pants, and a baseball bat. A punisher esque gimmick it seems.

The mystery man starts by throwing Parker into the ropes and catching him with a kitchen sink. The Sgt. falls to one knee and the mystery man fires a few huge punches to his back. The man picks him up and lifts him straight over his head in a military press. The mystery man then drops him straight down. He picks him back up and throws him into the ropes, only to knock him back down with a big boot. He waits for Buddy to get up and he throws him up into the air and on his way down, nails Parker with a DDT! He covers and gets the pin!

Winner: ???

The mystery man grabs a mic.

???: My name, is Mike Diaballico. And I am, the punisher. I'm here, in WCW, to bring a new mindset to the people in the back. There will be pain, there will be, PUNISHMENT!

Right so lets check this out. Ok, backstory, I’m not even really going to comment on it too much. I just couldn’t get into it. I know you’ve put a lot of effort into it, but it just didn’t work for me and there were times it seemed to try and veer off into comedy that wasn’t funny, as well as being really unrealistic for a lot of the way. But importance of backstory’s way over rated so meh, the show’s will make this good/bad so….

Saturday Night June 6th…

- The way you’re trying to write Dusty here really doesn’t work for me. I know you want to make him sound like him but it just didn’t come off right and reading it off the page he was sounding to me more like an English hooligan than himself. Tony’s not as off as Dusty, but then Tony’s more generic anyway. The other thing, I’m not sure they’re saying anything that really adds anything to the show. If you’re going to use the announcers they need to be making a point and having a purpose. Here it seems they’re there for the sake of having them there.

- the Nasty Boys, Harlem Heat match was ok and I’m all for a Harlem Heat push. It looks like you’re going pretty basic with your matches, on the tv shows at least. I’m not necessarily against that, I don’t like reading anything too in depth on tv shows, but the match write up itself didn’t really do anything for me in terms of letting me know their characters or getting either team over to me. What did that match tell me about Harlem Heat? About the Nasty Boys? Very little apart from that Harlem Heat won

- further emphasis that Dusty doesn’t sound right… “Well a course, noboday survives, da Harlem Hangova'.” … I see what you’re trying to do but it’s just not quite working

- I could be wrong on this but I’m not sure Dusty could even get away with saying ass on tv in WCW back then. I’ve heard him use the word “booty” quite a bit, both in WWF and WCW, maybe a better choice for that phrase next time?

- Simmons squash match is ok, I guess you wanted to give him tv time and a push, right? But really, what did it do for him? So he can squash a jobber, great, but again it didn’t tell me anything about his character or what he’s up to right now. He just squashed a jobber, it developed nothing really.

- the point of the Flair/Sting/Windham/Vader segment was ok, you wanted to build something between them and lead into your main event. That part was ok, although (again I might be wrong, it’s hard to remember what Saturday Night in 1994 was like) I’m not sure how true to WCW tv at the time it was, but the way it all played out wasn’t. Flair as “I am the WCW World Champyin, an I get no more respect den half of these other losers!” really didn’t come off well. The way the segment played out with the interruptions and beatings just didn’t work for me at all, and Dusty saying this “Jesus christ get someone out here!” is so much of a no no it’s untrue.

- DDP Vs Roma, DDP did not do the Diamond Cutter in 1994, and DDP wasn’t really getting pushed in 1994. He lost the match, so no complaints there really, and at least with the inclusion of Orndorff into the proceedings this one progressed things a little bit more than the previous matches. Interesting to see how keen you are on Roma and how much you want to push him. Don’t ask me why, but I kinda liked him. Don’t expect many other people to though

- It’s taken me a while to work it out with the way they’ve been interacting, but you’re playing Dusty as the heel announcer, right? The interaction between him and Schiavone in that way’s just not the kinda thing that someone like Jesse Ventura or a heel Heenan would do much better. Dusty has no reason to be a heel and think Roma and Orndorff cheating is fine and pretend he saw nothing as if he’s Bobby Heenan or something.

- Nasty Boys and Sullivan/Cactus fighting backstage is kinda ok, but there was no real play on the explosive factors of Cactus and Sullivan and them struggling to co-exist, and the Nasty Boys got beat by Harlem Heat already tonight, hardly a great way to make me think they’re capable of taking the titles next week. The match should be ok, and a bit wild, although maybe a bit too wild for tv? Seems more like the kinda thing we’d get on PPV. The other thing is that security comes and gets the Nasty Boys to leave, aren’t you meant to be portraying them as wild badasses who just like to fight and want the world titles back? If that’s the case, why do they pussy up to security and happily walk off rather than kick their asses and get held back?

- Steamboat Vs Pillman would be a good match, having Rude run in to destroy it is kinda fine if there’s a real point to it. What Rude says kills that completely. First off Rude can’t say half the stuff he says there. Bastard etc. Secondly, he’s angry his title was stolen from him by Sting so he wants…… Steamboat?

- The main event was the best thing on the show by a mile. For the most part it was your textbook tv tag match with the hot tags and everything, but the ending was the most worthwhile thing on your whole show. The dynamic with the four of them, Flair turning on Sting like that, all wanting titles, and there being the two world titles, everything could lead somewhere really interesting. That was much better than everything else. After the match got a bit meh again as Flair didn’t sound like Flair, and Sting was allowed to crawl for a mic by Vader and Windham which made little sense after he just took a big splash off Vader.

It was a weak show, that seemed to rush too much stuff for your next major show. There were some plus points leading out of the main event but for the most part it was a struggle in terms of 1994 WCW, it just wasn’t right.

Worldwide, June 7th

- Levesque Vs Scorpio, in my eyes the right guy won and you can do a lot with Scorpio in this time period. He was excellent in the ring. Again though, as with most of the matches on the last show it just did nothing to get either guys character or in ring personality over to me. Also, and this is something I’m not sure on, I don’t think Levesque was calling his finisher the Pedigree back then. The other thing is that almost all the matches seem to have the same structure, with one guy going for his finisher and it getting reversed, so the other guy finishes it.

- Clash of the Champions is looking too huge for me. I’ve seen some stacked COTC cards at times, but a world title unification match between Flair and Sting is surely better served for a longer build up and being presented on one of your PPV shows? Why cash it in on free tv when you can sell it on PPV?

- Main event Dustin Rhodes beats the Guardian Angel, but again, why? It doesn’t lead anywhere or progress any storylines. This was a REALLY weak show that didn’t progress anything or put anyone over. Yes Dustin won, and should get a major push as he was a massive talent back then, but, what did that match really do for him in the context of your diary?

So non show stuff…..

- “The current head booker said he "didn't have what it took" to commentate with someone as skilled as Tony Schiavone.” Haha, nice, I liked Dusty on colour back in the day, although I didn’t like your Dusty on colour, if that makes sense. If you are losing Dustin as part of the deal that’s a big blow though, his first WCW run was an outstanding one and I was such a fan of his at that time.

June 13th, Saturday Night

- Frank Giovanni sounds like a really generic colour guy. I’m almost scared to say this, but I think I want Dusty back. Tony asks how he can call Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan psychos? Has Schiavone ever watched anything those two have ever done?

- When I first saw “Booker T Vs Johnny B Badd” and then saw “Winner: Booker T” at the end I was about to whine about overpushing one guy too early, and burying another too soon, but it wasn’t quite as bad as all that once I read the match. IF, Teddy Long just walked out on JBB and joined the Harlem Heat as their manager that could be really interesting, I hope that’s wehre you go with it. Badd going after them, and maybe grabbing in a tag partner (make it Too Cold Scorpio and you’d have an awesome team on your hands) to battle them and get his hands on Long could be fun.

- “Those are some strong words from our International World Champion wouldn't you say Frank?”….. Well sure, if you replace “strong” with “really generic”. It wasn’t overly like the Sting character in terms of the phrases he used, or the general point of what he said, and it was too short as well. Sting would have gone one of two ways. He’d either have had a huge amount to say about Flair’s actions, or later on he’d have had absolutely nothing to say about it and let his actions speak volumes. This period, Sting would have had a hell of a lot to say about what Flair did walking out on him, and the short promo just did nothing to really hype the match, just wasn’t that Sting like in my eyes

- The Austin/Dibacco match for the US title could have been fun, playing out this whole “Austin giving title shots to jobbers” thing to avoid real challengers until he was eventually forced to fight a mandatory challenger or something. The match itself though just seemed a bit more “Stone Cold” than “Stunning”

- Duuuuuuuude, do you have to have Missy hitting on Kevin Sullivan? That’s just kinda wrong. Also, I know her lines here were only suggestive and she was cut off before she said wet/horny/hot/desperate for dick or whatever, it still seemed a little bit too suggestive for WCW tv back then. Still, while it sounded nothing like here, it was intriguing enough with her having said something to Kevin, Cactus not knowing what’s going on, and the two gathering up weapons and generally being crazy weirdos and stuff. Oh and yeah, that whole ménage a trois thing, again, like I said with Missy being suggestive I’m not sure it’s the right stuff for them to be saying here either.

- Rude’s one line there was better than his handful of lines last week but it still wasn’t quite right. Steamboat comes out to get him, Rude runs away, didn’t Rude challenge him and want to fight him last week to prove he was the best? Last week Rude was angry Rude wanting to fight Steamboat, now he’s run away and jump in a car Rude?

- Simmons using the Dominator? The match was ok for the most part, but I didn’t like that, again it was just kinda generic heel interference not working and strong face winning out, but it’ll do.

- “or even a guy like Denny Brown” do it, have Denny Brown answer the challenge and have him fight Vader at COTC. Again, Vader sounded really generic, there was none of the snarling grunting beast wanting to hurt people and dominate.

- Page hitting the Diamond Cutter, and getting pushed over Pillman was bad on a lot of levels in my eyes. Pillman can be, should be, and in many ways compared to DDP at this point, was a big deal. DDP’s essentially not that far off jobber status. The Diamond Cutter was one of the things that got him over big time, so if you were having him break out the move this early and start pushing him, you REALLY needed to make it a big deal otherwise it’s a wasted opportunity

- Flair sounds ten times better than last week, and still ten times off being a good Flair promo. Again, it’s just really generic “I’m gonna beat you” promo with no real depth to it. Promo’s like that aren’t what got Ric Flair over and kept him at the top for so long. It was just bland, despite the limo ridin, money, and wooooo’s

- “Frank: Who cares about that match”…. Way to bury the big shows main event there Frank, nice hype job

- The main event was way too much for this show on tv at this point in time. I really don’t think I’m wrong on that, but a 20 foot drop and bump like that, was just too much for me, way too much. The match itself was fine, the right team won, and the Hyatt thing at the end was mildly interesting, but this match would have been way better for at the very least COTC, if not PPV. It all seemed a bit too modern day with the weapon spots too, I mean, when Harlem Heat and the Nasty Boys started fighting through concession stands and stuff in their matches it was a big deal because that sort of thing didn’t happen a lot in WCW at the time. This predates that, yet was just a throwaway match on your weekly tv show.

Worldwide, June 14th…..

- Stars and Stripes beat Kendall and Armstrong. Great. Another nothing match that goes nowhere, but yeah. I know you wanna give guys tv time, and having them win a squash match seems like a decent way, but that’s a tv segment you could have used to hype something bigger or progress a storyline. Even if you’re giving the squash matches to a guy currenly involved in some sort of programme and link it in, in some way, even with just a “Schiavone talked a lot about the current situation between Rude and Steamboat as the match drew on, wondering whether the desire to get his hands on Rude had taken Steamboat’s focus away from his opponent tonight”. Just something to give it a purpose. That match was meaningless. It didn’t make me want to see more of Stars and Stripes in any way whatsoever.

- Damn you, you jobbed out Ice Train. I like Ice Train. Seriously though, I guess if you want to start pushing JPL and not have him as a basic jobber than IceTrain’s at about the level that you can put him over. It’s a shame though, and the low blow, pedigree ending just didn’t seem right either. Just not very reminiscent of the wrestler, or time period. And even with that, so ok he beat IceTrain, and ok he’s a cheater with the low blow, but it didn’t get across JPL’s character in any way to get him over with the readers.

- DDP/Austin was ok but again just kinda lacked much purpose, didn’t do much for either guy, and there’s that whole Diamond Cutter thing again

non show stuff again…….

- Race, Zenk and Zbysko released. Shame. Zenk was great, but with the way he was constantly jobbed out to guys I can understand you not seeing too much value in him anymore. Shame though. Not sure why anyone would call him an “annoyance” though. Zbysko would make a better colour guy than this Frank bloke you’ve got, shame he’s gone. I always liked Larry Z and he’s as good on the mic as the majority of your roster.

- This whole dry cleaning thing was just stupid and didn’t come across well, and your hatred for Hogan is totally counter productive anyway. You’re not having him on your show for the worst reasons, he is a draw and big star, simply having Flair doesn’t nullify the need for Hogan, and this whole segment and the way you’re portraying yourself as a guy who has no clue how to draw and make money is really bad. If you want to go into a Monday night war without huge drawing stars trying to push your undercard too hard then you’ll die. Nitro had big main events with a packed main event scene. That’s not the only reason it won, but it was a huge part of it. You’re right, you do need to push new stars and create new guys, but you also need big stars in yoru main event, not only to draw and have great programmes themselves but to help you create those new stars too. Now, you can argue Hogan’s not gonna do that or you, and if you don’t want to sign him that part’s fine, it’s just this Hogan hatred arrogance that you’re portraying that all comes across really petty and doesn’t add to the diary at all. I don’t like the segments with Bischoff and it’s the same stuff I wasn’t liking in the backstory.

Saturday Night, June 20th

- Regal said bloody, and sonofabitch and generally didn’t sound very Regal. You also put over Larry Zbysko for breaking Regal’s nose, who you’ve actually released. Why bother? Regal being told he needs to win a match to get into the tournament is fine though, works ok, although would fans even know what a “triple threat” match was back then? I’m not saying there weren’t three way matches, just not sure that if Bockwinkel said that on tv people would have understood what it was.

- That match was ok, but I really felt that Vicious powerbombing Vader, I mean, that’s getting a big big man up for a huge move, should have felt like something really big time and it just didn’t. It just kinda got overshadowed and could just as easily have been Sid hitting him with a double axehandle for all the impact you gave it. Sid came out and did that because he wants the match at COTC, fair enough, card’s looking uber stacked now though and I think too much so to be honest.

- The TV tournament final is a four way match? Again, it’s not so much that it’s an impossibility but it’s just not how I’d have expected or liked it to happen back then. What was wrong with semi finals and then a tournament final instead of a rare four way match on COTC? Also on the same card you have a three way tag team match. Multi person matchfest, it’s too much in my eyes

- Rude didn’t come across as funny when he tried to there, and for the rest of it didn’t seem overly like Rude. And, first blood match? Again, it’s too much. Have an Uncensored PPV this year and break out the gimmick matches or something. This is far too much like modern day booking in a retro world. It just doesn’t work. Again, all the Okerlund/Rude/Schiavone/Frank humour just doesn’t work at the end of this segment and isn’t funny

- Pillman and Sandlin as the New Hollywood Blondes? And, hang on, Pillman can just tell Austin that he’s taking his belt at COTC. When did Austin agree to that match? Austin’s obviously a heel too, but then, so are Pillman and Sandlin judging by that. See, I’d have loved to see Pillman out there and costing Austin the match to a jobber, and seeing how Austin reacts to such an embarrassing loss over the coming weeks, but turning Pillman & Jobber into Hollywood Blondes? I didn’t like it

- Flair’s choosing Sting’s partner and chooses Ron Simmons? Why would he ever do that? He’s surely either choose a complete jobber to harm Sting’s team, or he’d choose someone he had an alliance with who he knew wouldn’t back Sting up, like Arn Anderson? Or, he’d choose someone he had a person problem with to get them into the match to take care of business and really right now there’s nobody like that. So yeah, Flair being the dirtiest player in the game and all smart and everything, just gave Sting a hell of a partner. Why? All this “too small”… “too slow” stuff, wouldn’t he want Sting to have a slow, small partner? Oh, and Badd chasing a cameraman outside was nonsensical

- ok you said partner, you meant opponent. It makes more sense then I guess, still think he’d have chosen Arn to take him out and hurt him before the Clash, he’s the Enforcer for a reason. Simmons/Sting was ok, but with this being a “Flair picks the opponent” match it could just have been so much more

- A lot of promos and stuff have unnecessary pauses, like “Flair...you're not the only one...who can beat...anybody! You wanna.....know who your partner is Flair! He's probably....sitting right next...to you!” why is Sting pausing in all those places? If you read it, with gaps where you’ve put the ….. it sounds horrible. Sting puts Flair in with Anderson? You’d have got better value out of putting Anderson as Sting’s opponent, but yeah, this wasn’t the worst choice, it could be interesting but Arn would just lay down for Flair so the whole thing becomes pointless really.

- Teddy Long sounded nothing like 1994 Teddy Long. Much like with the Dusty stuff at the start of the diary, a lot of the ways you’re trying to portray how people speak just don’t work and it’s really apparent here with Harlem Heat

- Booker over Badd did what I absolved you of last time. It is pushing Booker too hard too soon and it is burying Badd far too early. A programme between Badd/Long/Harlem Heat right now could have been interesting and a nice way to build everyone involved in it up and give them tv time. Instead you killed it right there by jobbing Badd out again. Also, you called Harlem Heat multi time tag champions. They didn’t win their first WCW tag title until 12/08/94 against Stars and Stripes.

- Sullivan was nonsensical and sounded horrible. He didn’t always make sense, but he usually went deeper than that and had some sort of point to his promos. At least you’re teasing the whole split thing as these are two unstable nutcases who can’t co-exist forever. Oh, and Frank and Tony still aren’t funny

- Regal goes over Maxx Payne and JPL, ok, Regal’s obviously getting a huge push going over Vader (albeit cheaply) and two other guys in one night. I’m all for a Regal push though

- Why in the world did Flair and Anderson hug and shake hands when Anderson turned his back on the plan and screwed Flair? He was supposed to lay down, and didn’t, which was fine if it led somewhere, but it didn’t, it led to kissy kissy huggy huggy after the match?

And on to the COTC card and predictions

- Card’s too stacked, way too big, this is not a monthly PPV, it’s a tv show

- Flair will go over Sting, Sting’s far better chasing the belt than he ever is holding it and I’m not sure you’d be able to overcome that and book Stnig as a great unified world champion so I go with Flair

- Vader Vs Sid, no idea, totally an either way match. Bearing in mind that it’s Flair I think is going over in the main event, I go with Sid here. I think Flair/Vader’s a hard one to get right, it’s such a weird mismatch, whereas Vicious despite being the big bad monster, just somehow seems a better and more believable opponent for Flair

- Rude should beat Steamboat, Steamboat can get over from a heroic bloodstained performance in defeat, he doesn’t need the win

- Austin Vs Pillman could be great, I don’t see the belt coming off Austin yet though

- I don’t like this fourway and I have a horrible feeling you’re putting the belt on Booker T way too early. Harlem Heat are fine as a tag team, let them win tag gold before anyone goes winning singles titles, but I think you’re putting Booker over

- Cactus & Sullivan will implode at some point, but not yet, it needs more buildup so they retain here.

Worldwide June 21st

- I’ll be honest, I really just skimread this show as I’m a little tired now, so yeah…..

- Mike Diaballico, who? And, err, yeah, that gimmick sounds, err, bland. I’m Mike Diaballico and I’m going to punish people so nerrrr!

- I didn’t like the Sting/Flair fight, I thought it was unnecessary and Sting doesn’t strike me as the kinda guy who’s gonna go start a fight with Flair when he has him later tonight anyway, it’s not been heated or intense enough to warrant that action from Sting

- DDP wins squash match with a big diamond cutter as opposed to a small one. Great, but I still don’t like.
