Death and destruction reigns in February's Playstation Plus games:

    Hitman (PS4)

    For Honor (PS4)

    Divekick (PS3/Vita)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)

    Gunhouse (PS4/Vita)

    Rogue Aces (PS4/Vita)

Is there a way to play MGS4 on a PS4? I had a 360 and never got to play it.

So thanks to YouTube I saw this strange couple people have been running into and I have a question for anyone that encountered them.

I went back, and the answer is nothing too crazy. They freak out that you're back, you kill them, and get your money back from behind a portrait of their mother.

It's genuinely superb, one of my favourite things that ever happened in wrestling. Father Stone's slow count is amazing, and IIRC he gets in a "no, I'm fine" before he leaves.

That video went (sort of) viral at the time, but there were so many other great bits on the show that got overlooked - the ring announcer wore an "I Shot JR" shirt, and my favourite joke of the entire show was that they had at least one match where everyone involved used "Ghost Town" as their entrance music.

That's the greatest thing I've ever heard.

  4. Finally got Hartlepool into the Premier League in my 10th season. We had the lowest budget and attendance in the Championship, and our turnover each year is only 15m, with a 9m a year loss, so that 97m of TV money is going to be lovely. Wage budget immediately tripled, although it's still on the low end. Long season ahead!

Surely Daphne Reid should be Jesus since she was the second coming and all?

How so? I know she's pretty bitter about the whole thing, but I would be too.

Well, everyone else seems to be in agreement that she was the problem. The only person who disputes that is her.

  6. One thing I hate is the way assignments are set up. It used to be that I could leave it to the Chief Scout to sort, but I could add assignments when I felt like it. Now I have to change the responsibility for setting assignments back to me before I can add any. It just feels needlessly cumbersome.

Also, my Hartlepool team are currently 2 points inside the relegation zone of the Championship with 10 games to go. We've been on a couple of terrible runs, so I honestly don't know if we'll get out of it. Defence is the problem, and has been with every team I've managed in FM18 - my teams tend to score plenty of goals, but concede far too many. Any tips for tightening up defensively?

  7. I started a new game with the intention of replicating Brian Clough's career; basically, I could only leave one club for the next club he went to, and have to win the same number of trophies before I could.

Started with Hartlepool. Clough moved on pretty quickly from there without winning anything, but I'm loving it too much to even think about leaving. Won the Vanarama in my first season, then won League Two in my second. In my third, nipped into 6th on the last day to get a play-off spot, and lost to Portsmouth in the final on penalties. Just brutal.

Eight players out, plus a couple of loan signings not wanting to return, and I've brought ten guys in, so hopefully I'll be able to make it up this season. I've only spent 35k in the first three seasons, but finally had a bit of money, so spent about 300k this season, which hopefully will take me up. The club's highest-ever finish is 6th in League One, which I've equaled, so the goal now is to get them to the Premier League.

  8. Well, it's not a saga film, and there's been plenty of suggestion that the film might not actually be that good. Plus The Last Jedi has had a bit of a mixed reception.

I mean, I'm sure they'll be fine, but I don't doubt that at least part of the reason for the scheduling is to give them an excuse, and then if it succeeds, they can have multiple Star Wars films a year.

  9. No spoilers, but I went to see it last night. I enjoyed it more on reflection that I did at the time, I think - definitely want to go again.

In all honesty, I probably just overhyped myself, as it was a really good film. Couple of things don't really work, but I think it does a good job of being Star Wars while also doing enough differently to allow the franchise to go off in different ways in the future.

  10. Country music is really strangely popular in Ireland, selling out huge venues that pop or rock music can't. I have no idea why.

Anyway, there's a guy called Nathan Carter who does a cover of the Old Crow Medicine Show song "Wagon Wheel":

His cover is sort of a staple of bad wedding DJs these days. Today I discovered that the song is actually originally by Bob Dylan, whose recording had a chorus, and a melody for verses, but no verse lyrics. He discarded the song, and Old Crow Medicine Show picked it up twenty-odd years later:

    I love shit like this.
