  1. Alter the card positions to these workers as follows (recommendations based solely on their real-life positions in FWE):

    Angelina Love - midcard

    Brian Kendrick - midcard

    Eddie Kingston - midcard

    Homicide - midcard

    Matt Striker - midcard

    Stevie Richards - midcard

Here's the problem... These workers are all in promotions that are bigger than FWE. I'll use Angelina Love as an example, since she's first on this list:

She is a Main Eventer with Shimmer/Shine, which is a Cult promotion. The range of overness for a Main Eventer in a Cult Promotion is 66-100. To make her a midcarder in FWE, her overness would have to be between 36 and 45, as FWE is a Regional promotion. Otherwise, when playing FWE, you'll get a note saying that she needs to be promoted up the card immediately after starting playing.

The only way to have them fit these card positions would be to lower their overness, but that would mean that they wouldn't meet the requirements to be at the legit card positions that they are in in other promotions. In those cases, I try to make sure that they are able to be in the most realistic card position for the highest promotion that they work for. Hopefully, that makes sense.

    Increase 2 Cold Scorpio's overness to 58

54 is the highest he can go and still be a midcarder in FWE, which is his only promotion.

Add tag team Rhodes and Fernandez with Dusty Rhodes and Raging Bull 30 exp, inactive

The "Raging Bull" in the game seems to be an amalgam... The pic certainly isn't Manny Fernandez, but the birthmonth and age seem to be correct for Fernandez. No clue who the pic is of and can't find any info on the "Regime" tag team with the Portuguese Stallion, so it might be easiest to just update the stats/fins and pic so that it is Fernandez, as he is still wrestling and isn't in the game, at least to my knowledge. anyone with suggestions on stat changes to do this is welcome to chime in... Or, if anyone knows if it is a different person altogether.

    Jordynne Grace is 23

I know that's what it says on a lot of her, but she admits in an interview that she is 18... Her birthmonth is in March and the interview was posted on June 2, 2013, a few months after her 18th birthday. A link the the audio is here: http://ringbellesonline.com/2013/06/02/my-name-is-jordynne-grace/

Remove Bobby Heenan from the game?, I doubt we're gonna see him on tv ever again, and I think all of his stats should be 0 should he stay in the game.

Heenan is still making appearances at shows... In fact, he's scheduled to be at a show in my hometown later this month and I belive he is goin got be at WrestleCon in New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend.

    Make Matt Morgan a non-wrestler

Is he no longer wrestling for FWE? That's the only promotion he is in ingame.

change Leo Kruger/Adam Rose's gimmick to Rock Star.

In order for the Rock Star gimmick to work, the worker has to have a charisma of 80 or greater... He's at 68 currently... That's a pretty big bump just for a gimmick change... Does he deserve 80 charisma? I set him to Egomaniac for the time being.

    Change Mustafa to a face

Suggestion on gimmick? "Gangsta" doesn't work with faces.

Change Silas Young to main event in AAW

    Change Dinastia to lower midcard

Change Gunner to upper midcard in TNA

Change Ivelisse Velez to main event in SWA-SW

These would require significant overness changes... In Ivelisse's case for example, it means a 15 point overness boost and promoting her to Main Event status in both WWN and FWE as well...

  2. When you say Psicosis_II in the Pic Changes doc (second to last) do u mean Psicosis becuase I can't find Psicosis_II in my Pic folder?

This is probably due to me making a mistake in the January Update... In that update, I had "Rename Psicosis_II.jpg to Psyco_Ripper.jpg" In my personal copy, I accidentally changed Psicosis to Psyco Ripper, leaving Psicosis II alone.

My guess is, you (and anyone else that followed my instructions the correct way) renamed Psicosis II to Psyco Ripper in your game (which was the correct way)... Ignoring the last two lines of the Pic changes doc, leaving Psicosis alone and simply renaming Psyco_Ripper.jpg to Reaper.jpg should solve your problem.

In short, Psyco Ripper is the same guy as Psicosis II, who should now be named Reaper. Hope this makes sense.

  3. Only a Data Update this month, we'll be back to the Full/Data/Beginners next month...

Worked on a lot of the overness discussion and judging by the end of the February thread, there's more to go through... Plan to add a chunk of workers this month, as again, we'll be back to the "three release month...

Plan to come back relatively soon, possibly even later tonight, to make some notes on past suggestions...

  4. Wanted to pop in real quick... March Update will be up within the next 24 hours... Just working on getting some final touches on, while I'm "In the groove," so to speak.

For anyone curious, the monthly updates are always designed to start on the first of a given month... So, the March update will "start" on March 1, 2014... Anything happening in real life after February 28th at 11:59:59 PM (EST) won't be included in the March Update. Hope that clears up any confusion.

    -Bill

  5. Bill, are you going to definitely be doing the overness overhaul for March? I've held off from playing this month because there's no point if I'm going to start a new one a few weeks later.

I'll be looking at the suggestions made and adjusting, yes... But, no guarantee that every suggestion that has been made will be adjusted to the letter... If there are disagreements, I usually look for a happy medium. I also have to stay within the confines of what overness is accepted at the various card positions, based on where the promotion is (Global, National, etc). Many people forget that, if we bump or lower an overness too far, the worker will no longer fit into the card position that they should be at.

  6. Is anyone having trouble with the new update? Whenever I go into the "Other Workers" section and click on someone who's name starts with the letter "P" my game crashes. Everything else seems to be working.

Just went through every worker (and staff member) with a name starting with a P and had no issues... If you didn't change anything in the data, I'd suggest redownloading.

Shoot me a PM if it continues to be an issue.

    -Bill

  7. OK, real quick... I've held off on a lot of the suggested overness changes and plan to address that in time for the March Update, since that will be a "Data Only" update and it makes sense to work on most data suggestions during that time, especially mass suggestions like complete roster overhauls. The main focus this month was adding FIP to DG-EVO and renaming the entire Promotion to WWN (World Wrestling Network). FIP is now a Roster Split inside of WWN.

For WWN, I added everyone on the suggested roster and then removed the workers that hadn't appeared at all in the year 2013. That put the roster at 59 members. I also removed Christina Von Eerie, as all of the workers she managed hadn't appeared in 2013 and she is listed on the "Guests/Alumni" page, as opposed to the core roster. Feel free to look through the promotion, play around and offer any suggestions. One thing I didn't get to was adjusting wages based on card position, but again, that's something that can be done in time for the March Update.

Squared Circle Wrestling (SCW) and Lucha Libre USA (LLUSA) have been removed as well, putting us at 26 Promotions ingame... That's leaves 8 spots where new promotions could be added, but I'll likely just see what everyone suggests this month and actually plan on adding in time for the April Update, as that will be a Full, Data and Beginners month. Of course, we'll need adequate info by then to add promotions, but that gives us a couple months to get the framework formed.

Plan to be back in a few days with some notes that I've made...

  8. WWE Network should be in the EWR network I think... well..who cares if TNA have a TV deal with WWE in the game while you are playing as a booker in ROH

IMO, people wanting a realistic update (or, as realistic as possible within the given constraints of EWR) would care...

Again, currently, we know that WWE Network will only be airing content owned and/or produced by WWE. Putting it in the game would be about as unrealistic as you could get, especially since you yourself said that one of the shows that WILL be on WWE Network (NXT) shouldn't be bookable (which I agree with, by the way).

If you're not going to have a show that's actually on the network represented in the game, why open the door for unrealistic things to happen (such as TNA, ROH, or any non-WWE promotion) in an update where we strive to be as realistic as possible?

  9. Quick note on the WWE Network:

As it currently stands, based on the information available, I have no plans on adding the WWE Network to the game in any capacity. Here's my reasoning:

1: If it were added as a network, any promotion could potentially get a TV deal with them. TNA or ROH running their shows on WWE Network? Not realistic at all. The WWE Network will only be airing WWE owned/crated content.

2: To make NXT a bookable promotion in the game, the workers would have to all be removed from development. We tried that a couple years back and ended up putting it back to a developmental territory almost immediately. Superstars is taped during RAW and Smackdown shows, so it's not really a "new show." Granted, Main Event isn't, either, but at least it airs on a physical, tangible network that could potentially be accessed by any other promotion in the game. As stated before, WWE Network isn't going to be available to make deals with TNA, ROH, or any other ingame promotion, at least not currently. If that changes, we can revisit.

3: While the PPV's will all air on WWE Network, they are also remaining available as Pay-Per-View Events. Also, it would be very unrealistic in the game for the #1 promotion to not have any monthly events.

So, again, based on the info we have regarding the WWE Network currently, in relation to how EWR game mechanics work, it makes the most realistic sense at this time to not include the WWE Network in any capacity. Hopefully, that makes sense, when looking at it from the standpoint of making the game as realistic as possible.

  10. After watching Evolve 25 and seeing the FIP title defended in the opener I think we should add the WWN (World Wrestling Network)

This contains DGUSA, Evolve, Shine, and FIP. It just seems silly to have FIP separate when they are in the network.

So Changing the DG-EVO the WWN (Full name World Wrestling Network) and add all FIP superstars.

also looking over all the roster pages I can see if a brand split can be worked. The way it seems set up is DGUSA is the top of the food chain, then Evolve, FIP, and then Shine

If we need a new promotion I still think Beyond Wrestling is the best choice. While they do have an agreement with CZW they are there own entity running events like Tournament for Tomorrow and Feeding Frenzy. I will help out with a roster if need be

Wanted to comment real quick on this...

If we wanted to, FIP could be merged with DG-EVO without any issues of workers running out of promotions, at least that I saw after a quick analysis. The same cannot be said for Shine. That's one of the reasons that Shine and Shimmer were merged to begin with, so that it would free up a promotion slot for some workers that otherwise would have to be removed from a promotion.

So, if we are wanting to do this, I'd say, let's merge DG-EVO and FIP as three brand splits for WWN and leave Shine with Shimmer, at least for the time being. Shimmer/Shine's roster needs some work done anyway, so once that's done, we could re-evaluate how many workers would be affected by moving Shine to WWN, or leaving them with Shimmer.

TL/DR; If we're gonna do it, let's focus on moving FIP first and hold off a bit on Shine.

As for promotion additions/removals, there's a few in the data that I've been eyeing for removal that could free up a couple slots for new promotions to be added. Since I brought it up, here's the one's I have contemplated putting up for removal:

APW: Honestly, this promotion has always been a headache for me. Info seems to be hard to come by (at least for me) and is usually extremely outdated. With their owner, Roland Alexander, passing away a couple months back, I'm not even sure who is in charge of APW and their website seems to have gone away as well.

LLUSA: The last time their Facebook page was even updated was October. I'd be willing to bet that, even if they do still run, the ingame roster is horribly out of date. They have a website, but who knows when that was last updated?

SCW: The "other" Squared Circle Wrestling. I like it because it's the only regional promotion in the game that is based in Canada, but someone mentioned a couple months back that it needs a "massive overhaul." A quick glance at their website, it looks like they still run, but the ingame roster is horribly off and many workers on their roster aren't even in the game. My suggestion would be to remove it, add the needed workers (if anyone has stats for them) and rebuild it from scratch when we can make it more accurate.

Thoughts, suggestions and opinions, as always, are welcome.

  11. Cheers Bill, is there anything you've implemented from EWR Stats and Scenarios in Theory and Practice? Or is it all still under consideration, or are you not planning on implementing any of it at all?

Nothing major implemented as of yet, but definitely looking at it and probably will be making some adjustments/additions/deletions based on it... You might notice that Christine LeMaster was removed from this update, I believe that originated in that thread. From what I researched, WWE offered her a developmental deal and it was believed she had accepted, but in reality never did. I couldn't find any info on her even appearing at a wrestling show for any promotion (and this was some time back when I was first starting updates in 2007, IIRC) so she was removed... I'm sure someone will bitch about it now, that I've mentioned it, though. :)

TL/DR version: Yes, it's being looked at and will likely be used to an extent, but hasn't really been implemented in any major way as of yet.

  12. Still working on some behind-the-scenes sort of stuff, but everything already seems to be flowing better, as far as producing updates is concerned. Hopefully, within the next few updates, it will become more evident to everyone.

Plan to go over some more things and will comment hopefully by this time next week.

  13. As stated last month, only a DATA update this month, as I've been working more on getting everything organized for the January 2014 Update, when we'll tart the new "update schedule" mentioned before. So, if you've made a suggestion in the past month or two and it hasn't been made/added/whatever, please be patient, as I plan to hit a lot of the backlog in order to have it included in the January 2014 update.

  14. OK, went through and made some notes:

-People who are in a performing role, but do not wrestle regularly, on a pro wrestling broadcast.
I would have all of these people get converted into Managers- which would fit their role better in EWR:

Jerry Lawler doesn't wrestle on RAW regularly... I certainly wouldn't qualify him as a "manager," though.

In addition to this, I'd say to look at lowering the stats of the medically-based non-wrestlers dramatically. Using the Edge example you gave as well: Edge will likely never wrestle again, but in EWR he "could" wrestle on PPVs as a Non-Wrestler. Having said that, however- Bret Hart is a Non-Wrestler, and also retired due to medical reasons. Eventually, Bret Hart did wrestle a few matches- but they were both more angle than match. Even then, people knew going into his matches Bret Hart wasn't going to turn back the clock and put on a 60-minute clinic as good as his matches in the '90s in his two matches- and his stats (49B-2S-63T) reflect that even if Bret Hart wrestled a match tomorrow, he's lost enough of a step so that the old Bret Hart is never coming back.

By contrast, Edge retired for medical reasons in 2011, but his stats were never lowered. It's not enough that Edge "could" wrestle again at a PPV in EWR, but according to EWR, Edge's 70B-37S-65T means that he'd not only wrestle, but Edge would never miss a beat and wrestle those matches as well as he did when he retired. Lowering Edge, or any other medically-barred wrestler's stats, would reflect this, make it less likely to use them in matches, and by lowering their EWR stats, would make it less likely that CPU-controlled companies will hire them and giving them huge pushes

This, I agree with. Unfortunately, the "out of sight, out of mind" applies a lot of the time... Meaning, people don't see Edge on TV, so they're not making comments about adjusting his stats.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. Obviously it's something to look at on a case-by-case basis, but if they're not likely to show up, remove them.

The argument that you'd have to create their stats all over again doesn't really carry much weight when that takes all of, what, a minute or two? It's not like worker's stats in EWR are particularly detailed, and it'll be a rare occurence that you'd have to do it anyway, as I doubt we'll see 100 people come out of retirement in a single month any time soon.

It comes down to the central point of this thread - what's more important to people, size or functionality? Do we want a huge database full of guys you probably won't ever use, or have never heard of, or one that plays well and is tailored around the gameplay mechanics rather than being exhaustive?

The problem with "If they're not likely to show up, remove them" is when workers do show up, when we thought we'd seen the last of them. Up until a couple years ago, pretty much everyone thought The Rock was done with wrestling.

It's also easy to say that "The argument that you'd have to create their stats all over again doesn't really carry much weight" when you're not the one having to enter, delete and re-enter all of the information. Keep in mind, entering a worker isn't just brawl, speed, tech, etc. It's alter egos, tag teams, relationships, etc.

The problem with "Guys you probably won't ever use, or have never heard of" is that different people play the game different ways. A guy you might "never use" or "have never heard of" might be a common choice for someone else to add to their roster.

Which brings me to something else that really needs addressing; relationships. It's another thing that constantly gets added, or at least suggested, to EWR stats updates with very little regard to the actual gameplay mechanics. Just because Wrestler X said he liked Wrestler Y in an interview doesn't warrant a friendship relationship, and not everybody who's ever appeared on Art Of Wrestling should have a friendship relationship with Colt Cabana. It should entirely come down to what these relationships affect in the game, and how feasible they are.

Not to mention that, in running monthly updates, there's always the chance of running up a backlog of "relationships" that are completely false. A dirtsheet mentions that two guys don't like each other, it's added to the database. Six months later, it's a complete non-issue, and was probably never true in the first place, yet the relationship is still there.

No disagreements here. I've held off in recent months in adding new relationships for this reason... Getting suggestions to get rid of some of the old ones that are no longer relevant would be a big plus.

If they don't make an appearance on TV at least once a year, I'd cut them.

So, you'd cut Steve Austin from your data? What about The Undertaker? He only wrestles at WrestleMania... Would you remove him if he doesn't wrestle at WrestleMania 30? When's the last time Bill Goldberg was on a wrestling show? Batista? Roddy Piper? DDP? That's just a few. On top of that, many indy workers have never been on a "televised" wrestling show. On top of that, what happens if a worker is injured IRL and is out more than a year? Do you remove them then, too, even when you know they will eventually be back?

The point is, setting a time limit for removing workers doesn't really work well with real life. I won't disagree that the database needs to be thinned out some, but setting time limits just doesn't work well.

There are people and probably federations that are likely not needed at all.

I don't think many people really care about the Mexican or Japanese guys (I would include Australian and European but I know there are a good number who play the games.) Hell many people don't even use American indy guys outside of ROH, DGUSA and maybe PWG guys.

I'd assume more people care about "Mexican and Japanese guys" than Australian and European, particularly as Mexico is an active game area in EWR.

These three posts here are why I'm reluctant to remove workers... Different people play EWR different ways. It's easy to say "Nobody cares about the Mexican workers," if YOU don't care about them... But, the minute I cut your favorite indy Aussie wrestler because someone else said "Nobody cares about the Australian workers," you'd be complaining.

In short, it's easy to suggest cutting someone or something (such as a worker or promotion) when you don't use it... But, someone else might think the same about your favorite worker/promotion.

I admit it was flippant, but given that we've got someone saying lose a load of Mexican and Japanese guys, and Skummy saying the opposite, and there really isn't that much of an issue with database size is it not worth keeping the low overness guys for Backyard to Global games since its not going to affect those doing higher level promotions whatsoever?

That's a very valid point, however, does there need to be 3,000 wrestlers available for one backyard to global promotion?

These two quotes highlight it again... While one player might not care if some of the "3000 wrestlers" are cut because they don't use them, another player might use the same ones that the first player doesn't care about and vice versa.

Again, I agree that some workers can probably go... I've actually been removing some here and there and nobody's had a complaint as of yet. But, the minute I cut a worker, staff member, or promotion that a player uses, I'd about bet that I'm gonna get the "Why'd you cut (wrestler X)?" I use him all the time!!!

Well, for one startup logic point:

Using the "Ryan Wood" example- he's not a Non-Wrestler in the game [ so this example should be reprieved at the moment], but he's in at 10 over. 10 overness is a fair cutoff line to start with.

Using under 10 over Non-Wrestlers in-game, you get 69 wrestlers:

Anthony Franco, Axl Law, Big John O'Malley, Bino Gambino, BPA Barry, Brandon Hill, Brandon Prophet, Brian the Guppie, Brittany Summers, Caffeine Bean, Chance Romance, Cheex, Christine LeMaster, Corey Blaze, Destiny, Destiny WSU, Dino Winwood, DJ Skittlez, Dr. Hurtz, Duke Durrango, Echelon, Eric Extreme, Fire Angel, Frank Cullen, Fugo Fugo Yumeji, Fuuka, Fuyuki Takahashi, Gemini, Hiroshi Nagao, Ice Cold, Jacklyn Hyde, Jane Blond, Jay Charismo, Jenelle Sinclair, Jennifer Bancalum, Jimmy Turner, John Howarth, John Johnson, Jolly Roger, Katsuhiko Nagata, Kazunobu Nakamura, Kriss Sprules, Kristy Kiss, Lupin Matsutani, Mack Johnson, Mason Hunter, Melissa Stripes, Mike Sato, Morty Lipschitz, Naomi Susan, Raj Ghosh, Razor Rivera, Rob Dimension, Rush Margera, Ruy Batello, Shayla, Shinsuke Z Yamagasa, Smash Bradley, Sofy, Steve the Teacher, Takashi Uwano, Tara Bush, Tatsushi Yamaguchi, The Disciplinarian, Tommy Combat, Tommy Knoxville, Tyler Mane, Vince Vicallo, Wayne.

Cutting down the list to find the most necessary names there:

Eliminating the big ones, the ones currently working for a promotion in the game, you reprieve: Corey Blaze [ECWA], John Johnson [AW], Katsuhiko Nagata [New Japan] and Morty Lipschitz [CWFH].

Eliminate the people who have Announcer ticked [the most reasonable Non-Wrestlers to keep so they can be color commentators], you reprieve Brian the Guppie and Mack Johnson.

Eliminate the people who had recognizable runs for some major, recognizable promotion at some point, you reprieve: Anthony Franco/Smash Bradley [ROH], Cheex [TNA], DJ Skittlez/Jolly Roger [CHIKARA], Ice Cold/Jacklyn Hyde/Jane Blond/The Disciplinarian [WOW], Jay Charismo [iWS], and Tyler Mane [WCW]

Eliminate the person most of EWB would whine if we don't get a chance to have him clobbered in the game, we keep Kriss Sprules :pervert:

And if you say, "Well, we need commissioners/backstage interviewers for BY2G? Fair enough. Using a fair cutoff point of 60 charisma [reasonable for a good Non-Wrestling role] in, you can reprieve: Axl Law, BPA Barry, Brandon Prophet, Brittany Summers, Lupin Matsutani, Razor Rivera, Rush Margera, Sofy, Tara Bush, and Vince Vicallo.

Take those reprieves out of the way, you're still left with 41 non-wrestling under 10-over people:

Big John O'Malley, Brandon Hill, Bino Gambino, Caffeine Bean, Chance Romance, Christine LeMaster, Destiny, Destiny WSU, Dino Winwood, Dr. Hurtz, Duke Durrango, Echelon, Eric Extreme, Fire Angel, Frank Cullen, Fugo Fugo Yumeji, Fuuka, Fuyuki Takahashi, Gemini, Hiroshi Nagao, Jenelle Sinclair, Jennifer Bancalum, Jimmy Turner, John Howarth, Kazunobu Nakamura, Kristy Kiss, Mason Hunter, Melissa Stripes, Mike Sato, Naomi Susan, Raj Ghosh, Rob Dimension, Ruy Batello, Shayla, Shinsuke Z Yamagasa, Steve the Teacher, Takashi Uwano, Tatsushi Yamaguchi, Tommy Combat, Tommy Knoxville, Wayne.

Wouldn't that be a fair start?

In theory, sure... And, it might be a way to go. The problem is, using the in-game stats (such as 60 charisma) as cutoff points could become an issue. Looking at your list, I personally know who the following are: Christine LeMaster (was offered a WWE DEV deal), Destiny WSU (Ring announcer for WSU and I beleive valets as well), Jenelle Sinclair (HWA), Jennifer Bancalum (WCW Nitro Girl), Kristy Kiss (WEW and also worked for JAPW, among others) and Melissa Stripes (Wrestled for CZW, JAPW, WSU, among others).

On the other hand, I have no idea who Sofy is, nor can I find any info on her... But, she gets a reprieve, simply because her entered charisma is over 60...

I'm not even saying keep all of the ones I know... I'm simply saying that you're keeping one worker who I know nothing about while cutting six that I do know about, just because whoever entered that worker (she was in the database before I started my updates) gave her a charisma higher than 60.

No, that's why I think Reflecto is onto something with his post. Keeping a handful of those types at different ranges and mass dumping the rest would be a great idea.

Until, for some reason, one of the "mass dumpings" includes a worker or two that you like having in the game... I liken this a bit to the whole "sequestration" thing... Nobody minds the cuts, until the cuts hit them personally.

I'll make some notes on Tag Teams and Staff later, but I will say that I have always classified ring announcers as "Production" and not "Announcers."

Remember, "announcer" in EWR means that they commentate matches, not ring announcing or backstage interviewing. I personally haven't heard her on commentary for a match, but I could be mistaken on this, too, as I don't watch every WWE show, youtube, etc.

Remove Lance Hoyt from FWE. Japan commitments have prevented him from working HOH3 as scheduled

The nice thing about EWR's Japanese system is that, they only make workers unavailable for specific dates. Hoyt can stay in FWE, while also having a touring commitment... We can just assume that the FWE event was one of the dates that Hoyt was "on tour" and unavailable for FWE. If he's not working for FWE at all, that's a different story, but it sounds like in this instance, the dates just didn't allow him to work one specific show. Please let me know if I'm wrong on this.

  16. Quick notes:

I'm going to be streamlining the process I go through for updating every month, so, for November and December, the only updates I'll be releasing are the ones known as "DATA." No workers were added in this update, so there wasn't any need for a "FULL" update, as there were no new pictures. If workers are added for the December update, their pic name (such as Steve_Austin.jpg) will be set (if I have a pic, otherwise, it'll be NoPic.jpg) but there won't be any pics released with the update... You'll either need to get them on your own, or wait for the January 2014 update.

Starting with the January 2014 update, I'll only be releasing certain updates in certain months. Before, every month, there was a FULL update, a DATA update and a BEGINNERS update. Starting in January, I'll be releasing the following updates in the following months:

Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct: FULL, DATA and BEGINNERS

Feb, May, Aug, Nov: FULL and DATA

Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec: DATA only

So, for January, April, July and October, all three updates will be available. In February, May, August and September, the FULL and DATA will be available, but no BEGINNERS. For March, June, September and December, only a DATA version will be available. These are subject to change, based on something major happening in the wrestling world, but this will be the new regular schedule. I'm thinking it'll allow me to streamline things a bit better, getting backlog taken care of quicker, as some months (when Data only is released), I won't have to worry about pictures.

  17. Going onto another part of the discussion:

    * What about old wrestlers? A very common complaint levied against EWR scenarios is that they're bloated with wrestlers no one has ever heard of, and I think that's fair, but let's look at why: mod-makers are often reluctant to cut old workers. I made a joke about "being a big Scott Snot fan" in last month's update thread, but it's worth looking at deeper. Scott Snot was a curtain-jerker in XPW over a decade ago and has largely not been seen since. Is anybody clamoring for this guy to make a return? More to the point, is it ever going to happen, or is it more likely that Scott Snot went off to get an associate's in graphic design or something? It's worth mentioning here that it's fairly easy to add a new worker or two to a data set if one wants, so at what point is it worth cutting old talent out of the data entirely?

I don't know what exactly the end game is here, but I think the discussion's worth having anyway, so let's have it!

The bigger question for this would be: What should "Non-Wrestler" be defined as?

Right now in Bill's scenarios, the Non-Wrestler scenario is determined as three entirely different things:

-People who are in a performing role, but do not wrestle regularly, on a pro wrestling broadcast.

-People who are on a part-time schedule and will only wrestle very rarely, for huge events or paydays.

-People who have announced their retirement, but are still kept in the game because people don't want them taken out of the game.

This is a bigger issue than just having old wrestlers in the game. The usual excuse for making people a non-wrestler instead of deleting them is in the event they do decide to make a comeback, they're in the game just in case. This reasoning makes sense- but being a Non-Wrestler doesn't prevent a performer from being hired in-game, and their in-ring stats are never decreased once they become a non-wrestler to help prevent retired wrestlers from being signed up- witness the shooting ability example of Al Snow being signed despite being a Non-Wrestler in TNA.

If you're going to make changes for the old wrestlers', a good starting point would to decide what being a non-wrestler is defined as, make that clear, and go from there.

Don't disagree with any of this... Just keep in mind that Non Wrestlers cannot wrestle on TV Shows, only on the monthly events.

The main issue is, EWR doesn't reflect real life very well. For example, in the game, the most accurate position for Vickie Guerrero is Non-Wrestler. But, she has wrestled on RAW before.

Meanwhile, Edge, who will likely never wrestle again, has made appearances on RAW, in Non-Wrestling capacities... But, in EWR, you can have him wrestle at the monthly PPV's.

As a result, it's going to be very difficult to clearly define what a non-wrestler is, as personally, I could find arguments for all three of the situations that you mention above.

  18. What if "Prefer MMA" was not selected? I mean Inoki leans that way but the IGF is hardly MMA specific, so wouldn't that just make having Inoki as such not realistic as he doesn't just sign individuals who are proficient in a martial art???

The argument could be made to switch Inoki's preference... But, what do you switch it to? There's only a few choices in EWR to pick from:

Normal, Brawling, High Flying, Technical Skill, Characters, T and A, Veterans, Mixed Martial Arts are the choices.

As I said somewhere else, I set the owners of Shimmer and NCW-FF to "Prefers T and A" simply because the owners tend to hire female workers when that is their preference, even though it really doesn't reflect the actual promotions of Shimmer and NCW-FF.

Even switching Inoki's preference doesn't solve the problem of if the game creating an owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts, or a person playing the game that wants an owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts.

  19. It's because it's meant soley to control who gets offered a contract to fight with Pride, a MMA promotion for MMA fighters, not pro-wrestlers --> hence it's meant for martial artists only. The 'shooting tick' exists solely so the game engine knows who could realistically end up there, precisely to avoid the absurd situation of having Eric Bischoff fighting Tito Ortiz in a legit MMA fight.

I discussed this in the other thread, but I'm about 99% sure that this is wrong as well. Having shooting ability checked also effects whether or not a worker will be hired by a promotion that has an owner that Prefers Mixed Martial Arts.

There are currently 2 owners in the game that are set to "Prefers Mixed Martial Arts." Antonio Inoki and Rick Bassman. I ran scenarios where both of these owners ran a promotion in the game starting with zero workers, to see who they would hire. This was the result:

    Inoki as Owner

Day 1: 11 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 2: 22 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 3: 33 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 4: 35 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

    Day 5: No Changes

    Day 6: No Changes

    Day 7: No Changes

    Bassman as Owner

Day 1: 11 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 2: 22 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 3: 33 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

Day 4: 35 Workers signed, all have shooting ticked

    Day 5: No Changes

    Day 6: No Changes

    Day 7: No Changes

One of the workers hired in both sims was Al Snow. So, I ran a sim after unchecking Shooting for Snow, to see if he would be hired. He was not.

Based on this, I'm confident in saying that this is effected by whether or not shooting is checked as well.

  20. Oh well, lets untick all the shooters and to get heat on Inoki and Bassman.

In seriousness though the definition of "shooting" needs to be defined to logically and effectivly use the stat since as of this post all it is used for is Pride (who should not have been in a wrestling game anyway) and owners who prefer the MMA style.

I still stand behind the use of using Pride as an "active in MMA" promotion not specified by one MMA promotion but in general.

I know you were kidding, but, here's two problems with unticking all shooters:

1: Inoki and Bassman are the only Owners that prefer Mixed Martial Arts currently. The game generates new workers, owners, etc, as time goes on... The game could very well generate more owners that prefer Mixed Martial Arts and if they take over a promotion, it's gonna stay empty because no workers meet their criteria (the criteria being having shooting ticked).

2: I always leave at least one promotion slot open for people that want to add their own promotion, or do Backyard to Global... What if the player wants to run a promotion with an owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts?

As for the definition of shooting, I said in the thread the following:

"I would personally say that amateur wrestling, catch wrestling, boxing, martial arts and any actual, competitive fighting would comfortably fit under "shoot fighting experience." which I think is fairly accurate, given the scope of what shooting is used for in EWR.

Instead of taking that definition, people wanted to argue the differences between amateur wrestling and catch wrestling (which I realize that there are, but we're talking about checking a box or not here).

BTW, just ran the sim with Bassman as owner and Snow having shooting unchecked. He doesn't hire Snow now, but the same amount of workers are hired every day (11, 11, 11, 2), as were hired in my previous post.

So, pretty confident that having or not having shooting ability ticked affects whether or not an owner with a preference of Mixed Martial arts will hire a worker.

  21. I don't actually understand what the problem is anymore.

The problem is that, in the update thread, someone said that ticking shooting ability "only affected if PRIDE would sign a worker."

Meanwhile, I've now created two in-game promotions with owners that Prefer Mixed Martial Arts as their setting and both of them have only hired workers that have shooting ability ticked. Both hired the exact same workers and both hired the exact same number each day.

Al Snow was one of those workers. I've removed shooting from him and am restarting the sim yet again. I'm gonna bet that, with shooting not being ticked, the owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts will now not hire Al Snow, when he did before, with the only difference being that Snow previously had shooting ticked.

What I'm predicting will happen is, they will only hire 34 workers, leaving Snow off, or they will hire a 35th worker, an alternate worker that does have shooting ability ticked, in order to conform to the roster limit the game sets for promotions based on what level they are. If either of these happens, it makes it pretty clear to me that shooting needs to be ticked on a worker for an owner that prefers Mixed Martial arts to hire him, thus debunking the whole "shooting ability only affects if PRIDE would sign a worker" thing that took up multiple pages in the update thread.

The bigger problem is, I have been dealing with all of this throughout the day, as opposed to actually updating anything.

  23. With over 5800 workers in the database currently, I'm really not liking the idea of going through and making sure none of them have shooting checked, only to have to go through and recheck it, if this whole "shooting only affects who PRIDE will sign" theory is incorrect.

Or you could start a new game, click "other workers," search for those with 'Shooting Ability' and manually remove it.

    Just saying :shifty:

That's fine and dandy... But, what happens if we find out that there is something else in the game that having shooting ability triggers? such as working for an ingame promotion run by an owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts, as I said before?

Then, I have to have either had a list of all of the people I've removed it from and re-add it, or go to a past update, get the list from that update and again, re-add the shooting ability for those that it applies to... Either way, huge waste of time... Time that could be better spent on other things...

Unless, of course, everyone feels that this shooting being checked thing is more important that adding workers, name changes, title changes, face/heel changes, etc, etc.
