I've seen Platoon way too many times not to mention it. If the Great Escape counts it deserves a nod as well.
But if the film Ran counts it deserves to be looked at. It is essentially a Japanese retelling of Shakespeare's King Lear grafted onto the legend of Mori Motonari. As some may know I am a real sucker for Gustav Mahler, and he is a CLEAR influence on the films score. The entire film is so perfectly stylized it is almost like a rich dessert for eyes and ears of movie goers.

I only listen to radio when I know one of my friend's is going to be in studio. Outside of that I carry music with me at almost all times. I bought a set of speakers complete with sub-woofer for the kitchen I work in so I can hook up my laptop/ipod, and between the record player, cd player, and my massive music library the closest I get to a radio at home is in the form of Pandora.com
EDIT: Speak of the devil... My DJ friend, and half of The Rustic Overtones just walked into the coffee shop that I am at. Eerie.

Anything by Paul Simon puts me into a pretty good mood. Especially off Graceland.

The Man with the Golden Gun is the most tolerable of the Roger Moore era films and has one of the most under appreciated villains.

I think a movie that has George Carlin as a prominent religious figure deserves props for having the balls to make a casting choice the might have ripped a hole in the fabric of time and space.

The Dark Knight Returns...
Clint Eastwood as Batman/Bruce Wayne (Batman is somewhere north of 65 in this tale)
Jack Nicholson reprises his former role of The Joker
Billy Connolly as an equally aged Green Arrow
Michael Clarke Duncan in considerable make up as The Mutant Leader
Gary Oldman can be aged ala Dracula into keeping his previous role of Gordon
Ellen Page could ride her recent popularity into the role of Robin
The only person I don't know who I'd cast as is a slightly aged Superman who would be key to the plot.

Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolfe?
10/10
I watched this movie for one of my classes and it was perfect. Eerie, funny, scary, delightful.

The only way I will see this movie is if they tap Bob Saget to play Sagat.

A friend of mine referenced me to this website a while back when I inherited a couple hundred CD's from my Grandfather. I picked through the good stuff to keep but I ended up just taking the crap to the shop in town. Still I hear this site is decent.

I've liked alot of the stuff that has already been listed, but one under appreciated gem would be K's Choice.

Hmm, I assume you mean New Frontier, not Final Frontier. After a quick wiki search I think I might try to pick up New Frontier in conjunction with the animated film that is buried in my Netflix queue. Gotham By Gaslight also looks pretty enticing... Has anyone read Batman Year 100? So far I've heard mixed reviews on the title.

It is funny that this thread came up as just about a week ago my co-worker left this album at the store and it reintroduced me to the hilarity that is Lounge Against the Machine.

I've been reading a lot of DC's Elseworlds imprints lately and it has been a fantastic little excursion. I took a little while away from comics and reading this non-canonical stuff has been a great way to ease back into things without jumping in all at once. It all started with re-reading Miller's Darknight-verse stuff, then grabbing Superman Red Son, and the Batman and Dracula trilogy from the local comic shop.
I've been thinking about JLA: The Nail, Batman Year 100, or Generations (if I am feeling really ambitious), as my next purchases for this trend but was wondering what you guys thought about them? Are they any good? Which is best? Is there something better I should be looking for?

For me Rudie Can't Fail will always be up there with the finest songs by the Clash. It might not have the weight of The Guns of Brixton or London Calling, but it captures the style of the band; it has the distinctive and seamless blending of pop, soul, and reggae. It will always be my ultimate 'Summer song' as well.

The Back to the Future movies, The Indiana Jones movies, Ghostbusters I & II... I'd probably load up on some Batman TAS too.

Trainspotting- Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, New Order.
Dead Presidents- Al Green, Curtis Mayfield et cetera...
High Fidelity- Stevie Wonder, The Kinks, Smog, Velvet Underground, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan...

I submit a line from Above the Law. Here are its creds:
* Written, Starring, and Directed by Steven Seagal
* He plays a cop with a black belt in Akido, who has CIA covert training from the Vietnam War, and his family is the mafia. I swear, I didn't make any of that up.
* His partner is played by Pam Grier.
* There is a C4 explosion/massacre in a church... during mass.
And now the quote in all its glory...
[after stopping Salvano's truck, the police open the secret compartment, and find little square packages instead of drugs]
Detective Lukich: What the hell kind of high is this?
Nico Toscani: Sky-high.

Aye, this movie is pretty badass. I used to have a copy but someone stole it and switched in a movie about Caporeria (how ever you spell that fighting style Eddie Gordo used) starring the host of Iron Chef America.
I think it was called Only the Strong... but I digress.
