  1. I thought we were good at RB, but hey..

Taking out the off field issues, Hunt is inarguably a top five talent that almost any team in the league would love to have. As long as he is sincere and contrite and not just sorry he got popped, I think he deserves an opportunity to show what kind of man he can be. If this crap happens again, of course throw the guy out on his head.

Here is a statement from GM John Dorsey. Spoilered for size.

Barkley is the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

I get it, but Baker has done so much more for the Browns than get on field results. There is hope in Cleveland for the first time since 2007.

If Derek Jeter, who, if he hadn't played for the Yankees, would be a borderline HOF candidate (his WAR is basically the same as Walker's), goes in alone and unanimously, then fuck baseball. It's not even about hating the Yankees, because Mo deserved it, and I'm not even arguing Jeter as worthy of the Hall, but this idea that Derek Jeter was some kind of all-time pantheon of gods great is absurd.

There's a mythos to being a Yankee. Same as being a Laker or a Cowboy or driving for Ferrari. Does Jeter get that bump for being a Yankee? Absolutely. Is he borderline? Absolutely not.

  4. The Pirates have come to terms on one-year deals with both of their arbitration eligible players, per Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Left fielder Corey Dickerson signs for $8.5MM, and reliever Keone Kela takes home $3.175MM. It’s a small arb class for the Pirates, whose list will grow next season as players like Josh Bell, Jameson Taillon, and Joe Musgrove, among others, reach their first season of eligibility.

I like what Brodie has done, but I agree it was a dumb statement.  Assuming health (something you can never do with the Mets), the team figures to be good enough to get north of .500, maybe around 85 or so wins.  In the era of two Wild Cards, that's good enough to at least keep you in the mix into late September and give you a full season.  But winning the division is not realistic unless the Braves and Phillies both take a step back, which is hard to see since they've only gotten better and aren't done making moves yet.

The Mets could transform this team into a legitimate contender if they just pony up the dough to sign a Machado or Harper.  Supposedly neither of them want to play in Philadelphia and they'd prefer New York.  So Machado's probably gonna wind up being a Yankee, and the Dodgers made all those trades to clear room for Harper, they'll give him an offer he can't refuse.

But no matter how unrealistic it is to imagine either of them in Mets gear, the fact that the Mets haven't even met with either of those guys is a damn joke.  They might have the occasional year or two of relevance but they're never going to be consistent contenders with the penny pinching Wilpons around.

Are the Mets completely out of the woods from the Madoff scheme?

Think I’m finally done with fantasy football.  Kyle Rudolph does nothing all year, hasn’t scored since week 3.  I finally replace him a couple of weeks ago and then he explodes for 32 points in the week when I’m in the finals.  Bullshit.

I can relate. Missed the playoffs as the second highest scoring team in my league.

What a gesture that is, not just players who have caught his passes but linemen, coaches, staff and even Dr. Andrews (is that the WWE one?) for doing his shoulder surgery. What a guy.

    Yep.
