  1. The streak continues!

    I missed the show. :P

Reading Meltzer's review, it sounds like it was for the best. Still, anything worth DLing?

Thank goodness. You said yesterday that you were just starting to get into it. Based on what I've read of the play by play, this was the worst event of the year.

I'd download Couture/Toney for the enjoyment, as well as Diaz/Davis as it came off as a pretty good fight.

  2. Yeah, the easy bets tonight are Penn, Couture, Lauzon, Maia, Miller, and I'm hoping I'm not underestimating Maynard when I throw him in that list.

EDIT: I mean, Florian in that list. I'm assuming Maynard won't be able to handle Ken-Flo's striking. Kenny to win.

If you're looking for value, bet on Davis.

  3. I just had one of those moments.

I was messing around with NBA Live '96 for the SNES, and found an "Edit player" option. I thought I'd create some players who weren't already in the game.

I entered "Barkley", and the game made a dinging noise. All of a sudden, Barkley's stats were already entered in! Number, school, skills, position, etc etc. I couldn't believe it!

I've tried about 25 names and NOT ONE has failed. I cannot believe how much time they spent researching who to add! Even the rookies are in here.

    I cannot believe it!

  4. My favourite acts were George Sampson and Signature. I really wanted Signature to win, but I'm fine with George. His "Singing in the Rain" act was absolutely amazing.

My third and fourth would've been Kate and Gin taking third, and Andrew Johnston taking fourth.

It sounds as if Andrew Muir got completely screwed.

I never understood how Escala was supposed to be this breathtaking act. I would have voted "no" on the very first night. Maybe I don't understand the talent involved? I don't know.

  5. Either way, that was a fun fight, and I cannot wait for Lawler/Smith II.

Kimbo didn't do too poorly for a guy with little to no ground game.

Also, at first I thought it'd get stopped in the 2nd, but there were times during UFC 84 where I thought the same, so I cannot claim conspiracy. The ref will always have eye contact with the fighter, so they can see if they are trying to defend and what not.

Either way, I hope they got a good rating.

  6. So did Brett Rogers entrance basically ruin all the legitimacy UFC has built up for MMA in the past 4 years?

    I say it got close.

Nah. It wasn't as bad as we originally thought.

It would have been bad, had Rogers lost. But hey. Casual fans may remember this guy.

  7. Good question.

This is just for the prelims, as far as I know.

I've got cable at my parent's, so I'll watch there.

In the fight that just ended, how did his arm not snap? Great heart from the wrestler.

EDIT: Frank Shamrock will be doing a show on the stream following the MAIN broadcast.

  8. I wasn't sure about it either, but this match is 100% just for our entertainment. (EDIT: In other words, they aren't designing this fight with the intention of pushing a guy or not. It's a filler match which will also be extremely entertaining. It'd be like having Rich Franklin fighting Nate Marquardt. Two guys who lost to Spider, who won't be getting another shot anytime soon. It's just there for filler, but will also be a great match.) If Brock loses, they'll think of what to do. If Herring loses, all right.

Either way, it's Nog and Mir before anything, and there will be time to build a new #1 around Herring, Vera, or Werdum. There will be challengers for Nog/Mir regardless.

Either way, I was EXTREMELY disappointed about Coleman being hurt, but now, this card is going to be so much better. GSP/Fitch + Florian/Huerta + Lesnar/Herring is better than just Lesnar/Coleman and Florian/Huerta, in my opinion.
