  1. Miami is going through the same complex Notre Dame is going through. They think their head coaching position is the most sought after job in the country, when it's not anymore. Still, there may not be an easier hotbed to recruit out of than Miami. You don't have to drive more than an hour in each direction to field a top-ten team. Randy Shannon just couldn't coach them up to their potential, just like Mustache in Pitt.
  2. I have a 76 rated safety coming over from Florida. Ready!
  3. The Colts are stupid for taking Manning here. Leaf has better tools and is an all around better leader than Peyton. Stupid, stupid, stupid. In fifteen years, the Colts are going to look back at this draft and shake their heads, and the Chargers will have three championship rings under their belt. /melkiperjr.
  4. Because the game is too stupid to realize the managers aren't actually a part of the match.
  5. I hope you realize you basically just made the case for not only why the Yankees are hated, but why they SHOULD be hated. Let me just start off by saying I'm not a blind Yankee fan. I'm well aware we spend more (way, way, way more in some cases) than other teams when it comes to acquiring talent. It only makes sense for the fans of teams that attempt to build a team through scouting, drafting, and strategic financing despise the Yankee ballclub. I do realize that was the case I made, because I don't hide from that fact. That said, the Yankees are still a well-run organization. Should the Yankee higher-ups invest all the money they spend on free agents into scouting and their farm system, hell, we could be an even more dominating team. But that's just not how it works with this ball club. Yes, in the 80's and early 90's the Yankees struggled, but they have always had a "Win Now" mentality. Why it's so important to spend all that money on big names instead of sending their scout to Bumfuck, Iowa to check out the next pitching prodigy, I couldn't tell you. I'm not in the meetings. But that's the way they choose to run their franchise. Now, do I agree with it? Not really. As said, I'd love for us to invest half the money we spent on Tex, CC, and AJ alone into our scouting and bring in some 19 and 20 year old wonderkids. Is it unfair? Sure, it's about as unfair that my wife is driving around in a 2000 Chevy Cavalier while a doctor is driving his BMW sportscar. But he has the money to own that car, we don't. It's unfortunately a fact of life that life ain't fair. If the Yankees have the money to spend, should they not be allowed to spend it? If there is no salary cap, why not? And this may come as a shock: I'm a Yankee fan completely FOR a salary cap. Because then we'd be forced to spend all that money on our farm systtem and scouting. In conclussion, yes, I completely understand the hate. And I don't shy away from it, I'd rather discuss it. I give people a lot of crap, and make a lot of stupid jokes (like saying CC should've won the Cy Young or Cano the MVP), because I'm a cornball jokester. The very first blanket I was wrapped in on the day I was born was white with navy pinstripes. My first word was "ball", I got my first name after Don Mattingly, and my earliest memory is being at Yankee stadium watching frickin' Matt Nokes hit a homerun (and cried, because I thought that meant we were going to lose). The Yanks could spend $450 million a year, or lose 161 games a season, and I'd still love them. It's etched in my brain more than the sky being blue and the grass being green. I don't know where I was going with all that, but yes, I realize that's why they're hated.
  6. Rumor going around Philly is that the Phils are trying to get Greinke.
  7. People have been saying that the Yankees are too old for about a decade now. There will always be a Royal, or Athletic, or Pirate, or Marlin, or Oriole who becomes a free agent. We'll be alright.
  8. You guys could transfer to the NL East, but I doubt you'd find any success there either.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5905757 That's one expeeeeeeeeeeeensive "rule book".
  10. Jamere Johnson tears it up! I always play defensive end, and he was unusually quick for a FAU player. The Huskies are the National Champs? What is this? 1991?
  11. Friday December 10th Montreal @ Detroit Devils @ Ottawa Colorado @ Atlanta Carolina @ Dallas Lightning @ Edmonton Calgary @ Anaheim Saturday December 11th Philadelphia @ Boston Pittsburgh @ Buffalo Montreal @ Toronto Detroit @ Devils Atlanta @ Islanders Colorado @ Washington Rangers @ Columbus Carolina @ Blues Florida @ Nashville Dallas @ Phoenix Lightning @ Vancouver Minnesota @ Kings Chicago @ Sharks Sunday December 12th Washington @ Rangers Vancouver @ Edmonton Minnesota @ Anaheim
  12. You know what would make Manning even better? If he threw touchdowns to Reggie Wayne. I need to win this week to make the fantasy football playoffs.
  13. I actually don't mind the patch. And those are pretty nice. Not Union-nice, but still nice.
  14. Baseball Mogul sign-ups are now happening in the Cube! Go get a team with a big budget and spend, spend, spend!

Or take a team with a small budget and save, save, save!

  15. Probably. But he'd quit on us every year we didn't win the Super Bowl, and that'd get old quick.
  16. Yup, because Boston's never spent a lot of money on free agents before.
  17. It's aggravating. It could be the start of the third quarter, I'm up 17-0, and if I throw the ball on third and long, I get a warning. Fuck you, EA, what's wrong with that?
  18. Ugh. Let's not even joke about that, please.
  19. He should've just stayed retired last year. This year probably hurt his pride too much to continue. Looks like all the convicts graduating high school are going to have to accept scholarship offers elsewhere.
  20. I was beating Northern Illionois 28-0 in the Papajohns.com Bowl, and the bastards skeezed me and scored with thirty seconds left. I felt cheated so I felt obligated to throw another touchdown pass and rub it in their faces. It was well worth the stupid -50 sportsmanship thingy.
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5896191 So, Mustache is done at Pitt. Sounds like he was going to get the axe and chose to bow out on his own. The dude is an awesome recruiter. He brought some really impressive talent to that school, just couldn't coach them up to potential.
  22. ...Sanchez wasn't use to the wind. Poor bastard's never played outside before. On a positive note, you have like four other favorite teams, so you'll be ok.
  23. You do realize the Jets are playing 2 playoff teams on the road there, and are an epic 1-3 against teams in the playoff race right now right? They'll still make the playoffs, but if they show up the way they have this season they'll end up 11-5 and the # 5 seed with a road game at Jacksonville or Indy first, and then a game in Pittsburgh or New England, followed by the other team in that Pitt/NE set. If they don't beat Pittsburgh, they're screwed. Going 8-0 against the puff pastry section of your schedule is nice, but this team is nowhere near as good as their record indicates. Without the golden horseshoe during that Detroit/Cleveland/Houston stretch, they'd be 7-5 at best right now and scrapping for a playoff spot. ...and Denver. >_<
  24. The Jets could easily lose three of those four.
